I don’t think Ascended weapons should have changeable stats. But the ability to Hot-swap up to 3-5 Sigils and Infusions from a drop down when out of combat would be awesome. Then I have the trade off making different stat types vs going for the legendary.

All stat ideas for gear will be on hold until they release the Scavenger Legendary Hunt for a month or so and they can gather data on the success.

On Horizontal vs Vertical Progression. Long time MMO players are familiar with both systems. It basically comes down to the carrot and the stick. With vertical progression we know the carrot. The stick is gated difficulty relying on earning the carrot to get to the next stick. Or Gear Gate [score], rare,exoctic, Ascended.

But in Horizontal Games there’s more RNG involved. Pen and Paper games taught us this stick and carrot. But those loot tables were also very balanced. Right now in GW2 the Stick and Carrot for horizontal progression seems to be very janky. We have short sticks with big carrots in speed dungeon runs/Champ Farm [5 dungeons doable in 45+ min]. Medium Sticks with medium carrots in Fractals [45+min best case]. And Large sticks with small carrots in WvW Season 1 [4+weeks, long queues, some rares, below 80 exotics]. And No Stick, Huge Carrot in the Gem Store.

Please see that we’re being trained to do the short stick, big carrot [Dungeons] so we can also invest in the no stick, huge carrot [Gem store].

Is there any plan on balancing out time invested [Stick] and reward [Carrot]?
Is there any discussion on redoing the rewards for the Seasons before Season 2 so the new carrot makes the stick worth it?

How do you explain the WvW reward?

The rewards are backwards in this game:

-1 Hour 5 path Dungeon run nets a player 10+ gold, and lots of RNG chests. Can be done daily per character. OR 1 hour of champ farm for 7+ gold and lots of RNG.
-45+ minutes of a fractal nets a player 2+ gold, some RNG loot. Fractured broke it so no Infused rings [extra agony slot] and no Fractal Skin Box. Thus hurting the new players they tried to entice to come in or back.
- 4+ Week Meta for WvW, Where even some top commanders didn’t complete it because of jumping puzzles and merc camps. No unique rewards for winners, less loot then the 1 hour dungeon/champ farm crawl.
- Gems store: Best new skins in the game for RLM or gold to gems.

In the last 3 months the Gem store has given unique finishers, dyes, Armor sets, weapon skins and more. Playing the Achievement meta has given us a back-pack, some minis sellable on TP and a few very rare skins if we’re lucky[very rng].

So Arenanet wants us to not play RNG or achievements; How can we not read into this? Farm the Dungeon to force it into the Gem store for items we know we can get. Because we’re not getting unique stuff anywhere else. For one hour a day a player can play the game stress free and get all the loot they want.

How do you explain the WvW reward?

The attendance for Season 2 will not be as great because of this. It’ll just be a normal week of WvW.

Does the overwriting of an Illusion/Phantasm (summoning a 4th with 3 already up) cause the overwritten I/P to create a shattered effect during it’s erase/removal shatter animation, at it’s location?

Allow a slot for these weapons to take 3 Sigils, that can be selected out of combat. A legendary can swap stats. It would be great if a user can sot 3 Sigils of their choice and select the ones needed. Seeing that they are time gated and take a considerable amount of resources to craft one.

One step further would be to incorporate this for Infusions also.

Anet may want to take a page from Planetside 2 and have unbiased GM’s patrol BL’s.

It would be huge for a GM to come in and MAP System tell the BL, I’m here for complaints. They would have tools to teleport [even below the map], be invulnerable, be invisible. Issue Account bans on day(s), weeks, entire rest of a season.

A 3 man team to cover 24 hours could cover multiple 3 server match-ups at a time.

If you are playing WvW for rewards you are doing it wrong.

I really don’t get why people feel like they must get “epix lootz” in order to do anything in a game.
What happened to playing for the sake of playing?
Playing for fun?

Trophies of War have been a part of life centuries before we have the convenience of being couch warriors with our binary games. Why should WvW be excluded from their own niche of personal private rewards? PvP gets it with their tier finishers for hard work.

I want the ears of enemy commanders around my neck, the skulls dragging behind my Dolyaks and their bodies strung from keeps WE claim.

—OT that could be fun give; commanders a bogus template body until they reclaim the tower or keep they lost it at. I digress.

No other event in this game has demanded so much of a player to fulfill their meta from Time, effort, and patience [queue times], and competition of resources. Then to not receive a Permanent and Unique reward. A stack of colored Dolyaks which have a limit and a time until the next season is a slap in the face. Other games provide something unique and sustaining for competitive play in seasons.

2 Years from now during Season 10, who will know where a player placed in an effort to help their server to glory?

Yet I can finish any PvE meta in a day and I get perma-skins, titles and much more. Who knew Emissary of the Mad King and Apprentice Toymaker were cool titles now.?

No I did not read the full thread all the way thru (my bad).

I’ve seen that singular pre-release comment before and it’s a blog quote of from a forum post you can no longer access. Not saying it didn’t exist, but without the rest of the thread, her thinking it is “cool” weeks before release does not mean they cannot alter the functionality of how crafting works. I certainly don’t consider what she said as a “promotion” of the feature (she was just mentioning how it worked and the article writer did the promotion).

Heh, you’d make a great lawyer. I guess I’ve fulfilled the proof like asked during discovery. Now I can ask for the same thing, where’s the proof thread that it was not intended?

To the OP: It is not ANET’s fault that crafting has become so expensive. Prices of mats rise and so does the cost of crafting. Materials were not going to stay cheap forever regardless of ascended crafting.

Don’t care that it’s currently expensive. The post is; it’s getting out of hand, and it’s going to get worse, much worse. And the current System is broken with no comment on when it’s going to be fixed. Even if fixing is a timeline for Ascended Crafts in the other 5, or they revert 10 levels back to the profession that don’t have Ascended crafting.

Here’s what it comes down too. It’s insane for a player to Craft all Crafts to 400 for max level. We would like though, to pick 4 crafts of our choosing and get 40 levels from it and not 28. It’s a big difference and cost difference, with the broken system.

if it’s 534 gold to level a character from 0-65, then surely it must be around 60g to level a character from 0-60. especially since only 3 of the crafts can get to 500 atm.

Which pings the Trading Post and finds the cheapest route, baring the players has 0 mats.

I must not have made it clear. I know the mechanics of stealth.

I know they will hit you if you stealth when they’re in a channel or start of action.
I know mobs stop when you stealth in pursuit. I know this was added to keep them from resetting.

What I’m talking about is a random disregard for a player in stealth to pursue and attack in the first few seconds of player stealth.

Since this last patch. Mobs are still tracking and engaging the player while in stealth. I thought I was crazy, playing both my professions. I’m used to a Mob engaging a player in stealth if the action was already in cast during stealth. But I’m seeing pursuit path mechanics broken. At first I thought I revealed myself but this is not the case.

I finally was able to see it when in I used decoy on my Mesmer and the mobs still chased me down in stealth and not my decoy to hit me. This was apparent on the Norn pirate fight in the Vigil Story line before Flower of death (28), Sylvari.

Any idea when that statement was made? I remember them talking about refining Tier 7 materials in August , but I don’t see anything in there specifically about what can and cannot be traded.

Let me Clarify my OP. For those who have made a lot of assumptions. I’ll do this as simple as possible.

—On Playing Content—

1) I have over 8k (with a 4 month break) Achievement points. This places me in the 90th percentile of the game. Meaning, I’ve been around the block a few times as far as play the content goes.

2) I have every profession I want to 80. That’s 7, 80’s [2 are Engi’s]. They are all geared in Exotics. My main 5 all have 1 or 2 Asc Amulets, and more.

What do those first two points mean: I know how to play my classes and I have played the content…to death. I play very efficiently. I know exactly what I’m going to do for the hour or two I play when I can.

—On the Product we play—

1) We were told by ArenaNet in the beginning we could level to 80 if that’s what we want to do. That is currently bugged. Max level is 65 with a current cost [gw2crafts.net @ posting] of 515g.

2) This 515g will increase dramatically when the other 5 recipes get their Ascended tier introduced.

This is bugged even if a player was willing to spend 515g they could not reach level 80, From Crafting. We have not had any word from ArenaNet on when they plan to fix this bug. For those who argue it’s not a bug, the point is it’s a broken product until they introduce 400-500 for the last 5 crafts, and they have not.

—On investing in GW2 and ArenaNet—

1) I stated I buy gems every month. I personally feel this game is worth me paying $20 a month too [and more sometimes]. I dropped $15 a month for WoW and Swtor which I feel are inferior games to this one [And if you saw Blizzcon this last weekend they revamped their quests to GW2 style].

I do not convert Gems to gold (bad investment anyways). I use it to buy seasonal items, skins, Bag slots for all my 80’s , Unbreakable gathering tools and More Character Slots. The last of which I have no desire to do anymore because it’s a bad product line. And the other items will decrease as I have no new characters to buy them for.

—On Ascended Tier Mats—
1) We were told before the release there was going to be a 7th tier of tradable mats for those with the capability to trade them, so they could have their own market.

This has not happened. There are only 2 mats that are tradable. That is far from a market and is very disappointing. The end product is not even sellable. I would love to read the philosophy on this from someone.

—On Gold in General—
1)A huge majority of players have less then 111g [the current cost from 1-400 all crafts].

I do not take the small section of fans on these forums or other mediums as the whole. I believe ArenaNet should re-allow leveling to gain 10 levels from each craft from 1-400. 111g is no small drop in the bucket, and it’ll just increase especially if the new ascended recipes eat up low tier mats.

I’m sure we can all mostly agree 111g+ is no small price to pay for a level 80 who still needs to be geared out.

It pains me to write this as I’m sure it may go unread or not even responded to but there are some serious concerns I and other players have with the future of crafting to max level. Two months ago before the recipes for ascended weapons were released it was easy for a person to craft a level 0-80 character in roughly 60 gold. Currently if a player could get 0-10 levels per craft from the game it would cost them 108 gold, which is still high but okay.

Currently it would take a player 534 gold to craft themselves from 0-65. This is pretty ludicrous even from a hard-core player standpoint. This can’t possibly be a train of thought from this point forward with the release of ascended recipes in the other crafting categories. The amount of gold it would take a character to reach 0-80 could be in the thousands and this is not the kind of goal I’m sure ArenaNet expected from the beginning and needs to be rectified quickly or we as players should receive some kind of statement stating otherwise.

If ArenaNet would like to, they can check and see that I have purchased gems with real money every month to support this wonderful game. I can personally state that I will no longer buy new character slots because I do not have the time or willpower to level a character from 0-80 from content. I can’t believe that the lack of three levels gained from the other recipes has not been addressed yet either.

And the second point of this forum post is that we were promised ascended recipes would have a seventh tier of trading post. We have not seen that. There are only two tradable items on the trading post from ascended recipes. Because of ascended recipe’s needs for lower tier mats and not its own tradable tier has caused the lower tiers prices to increase. This can’t be right.

WvW Queue overhaul and Overflow

Just some Random ideas as I wait for my 1 hour+ queue time.

Rework the Queue for players to enter a random BL that has no queue after a 10 sec timer. The 10 sec timer allows players who want to be in that particular BL to enter first during rush times, like server resets, and allows the player to back out of entering a random BL if they feel the need.

They still retain their Queue for the BL they want once entering the Random BL. If there’s a queue across all 4 BL’s, players enter an Overflow BL.

This BL will be a copy of Eternal Battleground. SM castle is off limits. Players can still go after WVW XP, Achievements, JP and there will be no score.

Players don’t have a choice to leave the overflow queue when their selected BL opens up they will be automatically ported to their BL or kicked from overflow.

Players also will not have the choice to change queues while in overlfow unless they leave the overflow.

The last 2 prevent overflow camping.

A Legacy Friend Status. Friends who are added both ways (not just following), and have been that way for more than a set period of time (IE, minimum a month). Cap the limit to 5 friends. These people can trade/mail Account bound items (or a new status AB and Legacy Friend) to each other.

Is there a way to speed this up or verify through IP’s I own my newer 2nd account (Dom Deuce.5247) to remove in game mailing caps on money and items.

Two weeks ago I bought a second account (Game) so I could transfer all my money making Trading Post endeavors to that account. Because it was becoming a massive pain spending 2-3 hours going through my TP purchases to get a restock items or single purchases like Omnomberry bars, or gear since purchases are account wide and not character purchaser filtered. Now two weeks later I can’t even mail myself a single gold piece without a New account warning popping. I can’t even mail Bloods or Ectos back to myself. The new account had no problem receiving my money but now it’s stuck there ,and very frustrating. I’m sure in the grand scheme of things this is a small unique problem, but a pain and stopping my legendary progression.

Any help would be appreciated.

This topic was asked in a sticky a few weeks back, and due to my schedule I was finally able to respond. I took a break from my weekly videos to show the difference in perception. Since perception is in the eye of the beholder, it’s opinionated. A lot of players to include me believe Loot drops and the drops we should be getting should be weighed against risk/reward and time of effort. I created a video which simultaneously puts CoF Path1 vs End of the Plinxx Event Chain Open World Champion. In the dungeon it was 4 Guildies and a Pick Up Member. And in the Champion video I was in a party of 2 [total]. The perception is I can get through 80% of CoF Path1 already receiving 2 chests and a Boss which drops a Bag and 10silver (un-omnom); VS an open world Champion that may or may not drop loot and rewards around 4 silver.

Now I’m going to preface this article with some statements. Outside of my personal experience the statements I make about the market are debatable with each person’s interpretation of my perceptions. I also can’t go into detail as to the specific items but ANet employees will now which items to look at as I write this out. But I believe people in the Live Beta to include News organizations with head starts to content are having some individuals breaking their NDA, and telling their friends, families and guilds what items are involved in the upcoming holiday event and that are available on the TP now.

I’m a bit of a day trader hobbiest, only paper trades for fun in my free time. I love watching the GW2 market daily from the public tools like Spidy and guildwarstrade to my own tools. Well my tools gave me some alerts last week and yesterday on a few items that were out of the norm for their past records. The days of these Spikes are Nov. 21st-23rd & Nov 28th. Please check because these look like gated releases of content on the beta or when access was given to individuals. ANet, will know what items to look at and compare those to dates of information they have released to the select few, to know if ANet has a problem. If they do have a problem then I suggest a last minute swapping of the items in recipes before live.

This isn’t really a bug, yet it feels like one; but more of a Suggestion.

Left click moves the camera but not the direction of your character.

Right click keeps your character locked to the camera and allows your character to move while we keep our FoV always behind. I would say this is a key to most MMO players.

I find that even with the double click for action checked in the options, I only have to Right Click once to initiate an action. This leads to a lot of problems.

It causes me to start gathering a node when I’m trying to fight on top and getting my camera correctly to see mobs (esp. flying ones that are off camera like owls in Malchor’s Leap), It causes me to auto-attack mobs when I was just trying to run by them. The Bug would be that Right Click is bypassing the options of Double Click for Action.

So there’s a disconnect (i’ll know the truth with more testing) between MouseDown and MouseUp Events. The game is either registering the target on a MouseDown OR|| a MouseUp Event and not comparing the target of the event function of the two to make sure they’re the same. This is the culprit of almost all targeting mishaps in the game. This would be what many games have installed as, Sticky Targeting. Which, in a faced paced game like GW2, is severely needed.

Most people when targeting use quick clicks. When clicking to move the camera it’s delayed with a drag. Targeting should not change or lost during these Mouse Events.

Please install/fix this. Should be extremely quick and would be a massive Quality of Life improvement for players.

Maybe it’s just a matter of perspective. It’s a 5% swing, for something we’re not doing. We’re not placing any ads in papers, the buyers are coming to us. We pay BLTC their brokerage fee when the sale is made directly to an offer, so why are they charging us a listing fee when we didn’t list the item. It’s my fault for trying to apply Real World common sense to game.

Dear Santa,

Please remove the listing fee when meeting a buyer’s Offer. Since we’re technically not listing the item for sale, the buyer is listing the offer. We as sellers should not have to incur this fee. Now the Sales Tax/Broker Fee, I can understand that. That’s BLT’s cut on the action for the work.

This entire thread misses a major concept that is undermining the entire economy and that is bots. With the mechanic of these bots being able to place everything on the TP without taking a break we get an abundant of supply with zero opportunity cost. With the TP being global, one server’s bots can affect the entire community. No solution here is right or wrong until they fix the rampaged botting to see how the economy adjusts. And the damage is so heavily done right now, it could take 2+ weeks for the botted items to be removed from the TP and that money in the economy to be taxed out (money multiplier theory). See every time a bot sells an item at Vendor cost or below, and a real player buys it. That currency is then accumulated by the gold farmers and sold to the player for $10 through their site seeking their legendary. That gold he just bought is reintroduced in the economy through the TP mostly. There it is taxed, and comes out in other players hands. Those players spend the money to where it’s slowly taxed to less then the amount.

But the Bots keep going, when we go to sleep they’re rocko-socko’n the mobs. Getting drops, and supplying the TP with junk and needed gear, we buy unsuspecting.

So any solution we think works on the economy is worthless until we abolish the junk good producers, because all it does is cause inflation. A legendary may have been craft-able for 300g two weeks ago will go for 700g in a week or two (example numbers). Adjusting an economy is many levers that need to be tweaked, never just one. But we can’t tweak any levers until we kill the bots.

I’ve been playing an Engineer since BWE1 and I have had a serious frustration with them. We have no weapon swap and thus we are given the option to have a secondary weapon take up a utility slot. This is fine if these weapons were more powerful then normal weapons since we sacrifice a utility. We could even accept them not being as powerful if the Tool belt skill provided by them felt like a real utility skill the weapon kit took from us, but most feel lacking.

But my concern is the fact that when we’re in these weapon kits we don’t benefit from our weapon Sigils. It almost feels like a bug, since we’re not weapon swapping technically compared to other classes, we’re using a chosen Utility skill so it’s fair to state that we should benefit from currently equipped weapon sigils from our pistol(s)/shield/rifle no matter the kit we’re in. Because if we don’t that’s the second penalty for using a weapon kit.

We have swapped button placement of Delete All and Take All for Inventory Overflow popups. So that Delete All coincides with user’s learned behavior of Cancel operations across all platforms. We have also added a confirmation for Delete All.

There’s a method to the Dragon minions. I know we want to call them Dragons, because they look, sound and act like them. And they may be Dragons by those classifications and by that lore. But you can see (when you do Arah, and fight Zhaitan) what ANet has planned for the real dragons as far as looks, and there’s a difference. No other Dragon of any MMO comes close to just the mutated right hand of Zhaitan.

The Shatterer is the first Minion we encounter (if we level that zone), simple mechanics, intro to World Minions. Those mechanics are carried over to the second Minion, Tequatl where more things are needed to succeed, like bone walls and adds. Then the third minion the Claw of Jormag has 2 phases and multiple mechanics. The walls, the road blocks to clear for the bomb golems…and more without giving away spoilers. Now I’ve had these events bug due to lag with 50+ players (want to say 100) involved and the minions never properly cycle their abilities and the fight is a speed bump and that’s a shame.

All I can say is there’s a missed perception on what’s a boss and what is not in GW2 compared to others. We assume the Dragon Minions are Bosses and thus should be rated as any MMO Boss because we’ve been trained to fight dragon raid bosses over the years, by playing one MMO in particular. This game has a lot of new changes to that thinking and even myself have a hard time adjusting to the new mechanics and flow of things. But this is what I tell myself and others, “If you don’t like it. Cancel your Subscription!”

Trading Post Bug or working as intended?

Hey Everyone,

Today I was wrapping up a multi -part youtube video on making money at 80 with the Trading Post. I ran into a issue, that seems like it’s working as intended but the common sense of the issue makes it feel like a bug.

The issue is, when a seller is placing an item on the TP but instead matches the highest offer from a buyer, the seller is still incurred the listing fee of 5% for the instant transaction. It seems from a common sense perspective that the listing was never made, in fact we could debate the buyer did the listing, and not the seller. So it feels like a bug, even though this may be working as intended. Just a suggestion to change.

Second, Would it be possible to have the Trading Post act as a Merchant for items that come in under the vendor resell rate (basically tabulate Listing and Sales Tax to compared to vendor selling ) or provide the player with a warning they’re going to make less then what the vendor is offering after Listing and Sales Tax? I’ll give a prime example. Thick Leather Section, this vendors for 7 copper a piece. Yet on the TP it’s lowest selling price is 8 copper from 200 sellers at a quantity sums of ~40k (time of post). That’s 4 gold in lost sales. Here’s the math (I’ll do it for single and max quantities). When they place the Thick Leather on the TP they incur 5% listing that’s .35 copper which is rounded up in this case to 1 copper. When they make the sale they are taxed 1 copper (10% of 8 copper = .8 rounded up to 1 copper). So when the Seller picks-up from the BLTC, it says they sold the item for 7 copper (8-1copper), but they forgot they forked over 1 copper to list it, thus a profit of 6 copper; 1 copper below Vendor selling. What about Bulk quantities? Lets do that math, 250 Thick Leather sections at 8 copper a piece incurs a 1 silver Listing and comes to the total of 20 silver if sold. If it all sells, the seller will take on a 10% Sales Tax coming out to 2 silver, meaning the seller lost 3 silver overall for a total gain of 17 silver. If they sold all 250 to the vendor they would have made 17silver:50 copper. A gain of 50 copper, money in hand to the vendor; a 50 copper loss on the TP.

Just two things that stood out to me. Thank you for your time and wonderful game.

as many mats as the sum of individual pieces. To include the massive cost of gold and skill points to acquire the recipe. This is definitely a bug or a sick joke, but warrants a look.

As of now with Trading Post prices (raw mats) because of the extra mats:
272.27 silver to craft a Box/Bag/Satchel
171.33 silver to craft the 6 pieces + insignias.

Won’t get into the recipe costs as it’s a spoiler. But for the effort of investment and the lack of reward it’s far from worth it.
