Is there anyway to change your account name?
Not that I have an excuse to change like its causing me harm or anything like that.
I am wanting to start recording and streaming this great game on a weekly basis and would like to change it to the screen name I like to go by on twitch, twitter, and U tube..
Anyway to change this???
This is a shame too! Something needs to be re-worked here the system is broken when players cant play and people stop queuing or they have to roll an alt account. Pvp is falling fast I fear!

The first obvious issue is matching premades with solo players.
Making leagues solo/duo queue is something we’ve discussed. We’re open to doing a beta of it, but we’d likely put it to a poll and have the community decide. We probably wouldn’t run a premade-only arena at the same time as there’s not enough 5-mans actively q’ing during a season to make the queue times reasonable.
Seems alot harder to put together pre-mades together then it was in the past! Many want to solo because they find it to be the holy grail to getting diamond or legendary.
As far as the comment replied to here I dont find going against premades to be an issue. I solo or team with a buddy I would say 75% of the matches. Never gone against a pre-made but maybe just a hand full of times and I will bet we beat them about 50% of the time.
Finally whats broken is I notice when I am on the blue team I get a player that you know is very new to pvp or has very little experience compared to the guys I usually get matched against. This is that guy that stealths you on point so you cant cap quickly or this is the guy that doesn’t rez instead he auto attacks the guy downing you. Some how I notice getting this type of player when matched on the blue team. In fact out of 100 matches played over the weekend I was on the blue team 64 times. Out of these 64 times 52 times I had “that” guy on my team. I lose 45 of those 52 games. There is something in the matchmaking that puts these guys on blue team more often then not. This is the same guy that thinks his job is nothing more then running supplies back and forth for door breakers, even after all the gates are down! lol
Something is wrong with matchmaking and that I find to be the worse part of pvp this season. DH’s are no match for me and I dont find them a huge issue most of the time. But everytime me and my buddy play and right after we win a match we end up on the blue team, and the running joke is who is the bad player. Most the time its exactly the guy we thought it would be and sometimes you know after the first skirmish.
I dont have the answer or even the best solution to this issue but I do know there is an issue and I know its not going up against pre-made teams. I also know its not going to make it any better if we spread out separate queues. I feel there is already too many queues in game or match variants that take away from the season queue. Queue times are up higher then I have ever seen them.
Anet you need to find a way to get more people queued together
Anet you also need to figure out how to make the experience of a player factor into the matchmaking. Matching players with a few hundred wins with someone like me with 10K+ wins is unfair to everyone.
What needs to happen is somethings to encourage build diversity. Most classes have at least one trait line that is useless not only in pvp but pve, for example the spirit weapons on the guardian. Second I believe this games biggest issue with build diversity is that you only have Sigils, Amulets and Runes for stats this makes all players go one way or the other. Its time to open up additional slots to spec out your class. Yes it would make some more bunker-ish but it would make some more powerful. This is the one thing GW2 has never tried when attempting to balance out these classes. The focus for the first 2 years was the class and the abilities them selves. When that failed GW2 attempted to balance by adding or subtracting Amulets and such. I think its time to take a new approach to balance. Start with adding some more options with adding rings and accessories. Someone has to be creative over there and someone over there has the ability to think outside the box a little. PVP specs are to simple! This allows the not so good players to roll DH and spam traps and have it work better then 50% of the time. Anyway my thoughts on the matter. I hate nerfs I dont think at this stage that is the issues its a deeper issue.
Sadly I think some of the guys above are right, changing the system to mix teams up a bit more would result in longer queue times, and lets be honest these queue times over the last 2 years have gotten a bit longer. This time of the season you see even longer queue times on some days for what ever reason, anything right now that would increase time would be a big hit to the pvp part of this game/season.
At first I liked when the amulets that where removed where taken out, forced some to get creative at first and try new things. But what it really did was allow the Ele and Druid to hold points long enough to defend against the guarding hord. I have played Guard as my main for 4 years now. Other then bunker they where never the heros of a match carrying a team to a victory but now the games and flooded with players laying traps down on the ground smashing whole teams to the ground like they where made of butter.
Solution 1: Do not nerf the traps, maybe increase the abilities timer
Solution 2: Some how make the traps you stack on top of each other less effective
Solution: 3: Nerf the traps! However if your going to do this dont make the guarding useless again instead rework traps all together or what I would really like to see is spirit weapons made useful, Spirit weapons have never been viable in pvp.
This season has been one of the most frustrating, at first I thought is was awesome fast fast matches heart was pumping fast I was excited. Then this!
Sucks when Moa is cast on me during a Juggernaut form.
Not so much getting moa’d but the fact that I lose it and have to wait for a long cool down. Maybe if Rampage could be given immunity to Moa? Or a shorter cool down after reverting if cast during rampage?
heck no! No more immunity traits and spells! I think these are worse then any amulet ever made for pvp!

If you were to redesign personal score, what would you do? Does it track different types of stats? Would you want your personal stats displayed to other players?
I personally would prefer a system similar to SMITE and other MOBA’s.
Display all the different personal stats at the match ending screen for ALL players on the match and eliminate points entirely. Maybe even log the stats to make them accessible later on to give teams the possibility to evaluate their games after a series of, let’s say 5-10 games.
I was going to make a snide remark about this not being a MOBA and why the heck are you posting a pic of Smite, but I like this idea of showing all these stats. Would help you evaluate guys you play with alto too. Maybe they are not as good as you think they are! Great idea!
We’ve been talking about personal score a bit. I’m personally of the opinion that it isn’t representative of a player’s effort in a given match, and it also can be incredibly misleading and potentially lead to bad gameplay habits (5-capping home).

I see your point however I believe that score does tell you for the most part the players skill. As you stated there are ways to cap points with more then one toon, so there are those one off type cheats you could say. I dont see that as much as I use too a year or two ago. That being said I have some suggestions below not to redesign personal score as much as the point system for conquest matches.
1. Extend the match to 1000 points. ( I know game are already long enough sometime but wait)
2. when you get a kill the points for you say 25 points that total should be reflecting in the match points to instead of 5 points on the total score. This would make players think about strategy then rushing in and dying over and over again.
3. I would subtrack 5 points from not only the player but the match total on death. This again would make you think about rushing in and I believe it would make members wait up for other teams mates to run in together.
4. Holding points is important, so the timer on capping the point should be faster then the decap time. This would force player to fight on point more for fear that they will not be able to decap the point.
Just some thoughts there are a lot of changes that can be made. I do believe personal scores matter I know the example shown above indicates the other but games like that are very odd and rare anyways. I have had games like that and we did hold the points because we simply out rotated the zerg. Ill bet you this is a map where the lord was killed by the thief at the end of the match seen it a hundred times.

I would say De-cap 87% of the time, however if your team currently has no capped points then you should be capping. Very Circumstantial but if your de-capping while the rest of your team does their job hopefully you can pick guys off between points and or get them to chase you off points.

Point is just because your top score doesn’t mean you played as a team. The name of the game for the most part is conquest. You can kill every fool on the map and as long as the other team holds points and flips/ contests your points they will win the majority of the time. Play as a team for once instead of top stats. Trying helping with a game plan at the beginning of the match. There is a ton of things you can do to help you team win other then score the most points.

I think your dead wrong about the DH being the issue. I also believe your dead wrong about the Dh requiring skill. Now if you are talking about the guys with all traps in all their utility spots then yes your a little correct. That being said There is a mix of issues with this season and none of them are DH. I find that most of the people crying there kitten off on the forums are not your top tier players. Sorry guys your not the top 2% or for that matter top 10%. In fact over time I have found them to be the ones who roll the DH with all traps and suck at it cause they die. Same guy the plays a Thief because you see them doing that thing where they pounce on you and 2 shot you. But then somehow you cant get it to do the same thing!
Point is DH is a nice mix for the Guarding who has to play mostly bunker up till this last year and as a huge fan of the Guarding I am glad I can actually kill things. But dont think I run all those traps cause you would be wrong, and I am not the guy that sets those traps down aimlessly for you to stumble apon. Now, I dont play DH every match in fact I found the Mesmer who was my first toon ever made to be quite fun last night as I trolled across the Sapphire division. I have also found Necro to be strong too, seems like Necro and Mez worked because not everyone is carrying all the condi clears like normal. Maybe thats because everyone is worried about the DH or for that matter all the burst damage. Ill say it again this season is the BurstWars2. Matches are shorter and the action is very fast, one false move and you wipe.
Now other then matchmaking this season is by far the best one. I hated the BunkerWars2 and the CondiWars2, but so far the BurstWars2 is shaping up real nice. There is alot of death and position swapping. Most classes seem to be killing it DH is a little over played but as soon as u nerds stop tripping over their traps then they will fade. Few more thief’s then I would like and Ele is played a whole hell of alot less.
I think Next years Seasons will rock!

Smite is where I go now to get my competitive and skillful small structured PvP fix when I’m feeling in the mood. Atleast till ANet decides to push GW2’s sPvP back in the right directions. I gave some ideals in my previous posts so I will not beat a dead horse anymore there.

Second, the teams names and logos are horrible. I would rather it assigned the guild name of the person named the leader in each match. Just like it use to assign may name as the team name make it work the same and assign the guild name and icon.
Otherwise the feature makes it all seem more e-sports!
Enjoying Capricorn, fast queue pops, queuing outside mists, and faster pace killing in casual play. Compared to last patch, the casual game is 200% more fun even without a ranked season.
If you wanna be negative, yeah, MMOs are dying from the minute they’ve launched but the timing on this post is weird

So let me make this clear for you :
1) The developpers are LISTENING to playerbase and are TRYING to balance classes out.
Which means that from a season to another there will always be an “OP” class out there.
Balancing a competitive PVP game requires ALOT of time, dedication and testing.2) ANET is trying to step out from bunker / condi meta by removing the bunker abilities STEP BY STEP.
3) Don’t expect instant balance when an expansion comes out with 9 new elite specializations … It takes alot of time to make everything perfect.
4) JUST BE PATIENT AND POST [Suggestion] In your appropriate class forum .

I hate having to do pve so I can have the shinnies like everyone else. I wish they would make a lot more things available to pvp without having to pve!
1. Spirit Weapons re-worked
2. Speed! Now this could be slipped in with spirit weapons or DH lines.
3. torch main hand! Cause it could be awesome!
4. Add A Spear! Like alot of the lore suggest the guardian is created after the paragon!
5. I also think some of the weapons and the traits are in the wrong areas and needs reworked.
Quit a year ago to come back a month or so ago and to only find it in worse state than I left. The Meta wasn’t great back then (think HamBow) but at least it was more twitch based, compared to the brain-dead condi-spam and passive that seems to rule the roost now. Throw in the power-creep from HoT and you have a dull and unbalanced game-mode.
Sure, I can go condi bunker Mesmer as well and face-roll my keyboard, but it’s just a skill-less game play that does not interest me. Just quit my guild and will quit the game soon. I’m sure some people still find PvP fun, it’s just not for me and I now remember why I quite a year ago and didn’t miss it GW2 PvP.

I ask cause I have played alot of games and wounder what games you think the pvp is better then GW2? As a player myself I play 99% of my time is pvp and have yet to find a game with pvp as good as this games.
Like all games slow a little this time of year GW2 is no exception. I think it will be just fine. Not like there are a bunch of much better games coming out. In fact there is really no game out right now that has the dedication behind it right now other then maybe WoW and maybe one of this years new titles. That all being said I don’t think GW2 is dying just a little slower right now for what ever reason. As much as I hate it I don’t think killing the ele is making everyone rage quit. And yes Anet killed the Ele and that class is dying!
As a avid gamer and one who has worked on games in the past (mostly marketing and sales) I can tell you this time of year and especially this month is a particularly slower month. Families are going back on vacation and getting ready for back to school. College kids are moving and getting ready to move to dorms and so on!
So is the population down or are people playing less right now because of real life stuff? Hard to say but this is a wrong time of year for those type of bold statements. Come September and October if numbers are down then you can start shouting!
I cant understand why they keep making new ways to spread out the pvp player base. Things would be more balanced if they would stop spreading us out. btween hotjoins and personal servers and unranked and ranked. With all the players this game has lost over the years with sub par balancing attempts and the same ole maps day after day. We are tired of the waiting time in queue and the horrible match making. All of this is a lack of players being bunched up in a single queue, instead like I said they are spread thin because of all the different levels and queue.
I think its time to get rid of hotjoins
Make ranked for those serious pvp-ers trying to win pips and make a name for them selves.
and unranked for the rift raft!

One thing is for sure – you won’t see many ele’s…if any at all
I played some games today.
What I noticed:1- Way too many Guardians: One match had 6 and another had 5
And there is a reason for that, 2 guardian traps on a point insta-kill anyone.2- Condis are out of control, just just melt constantly and find yourself out of cleanses eventually. Probably another reason why almost everyone plays Guardian
3- No other eles at all, that class is just gone
4- In 1v1 I can win some fights facerolling on a hybrid Necro (about 10 hours of experience), with my ele I find nothing is viable (and I have 5k hours experience)
I’m not happy about the balance changes at all. I miss the old zerk staff or celestial d/d ele days. No thanks for making the game less interesting.
Same experience here too bud I have played over 10k games and find these changes have set the whole pvp scene back a 100 steps.

All reminds me how the builds where in SWtOR so much you could do so many specs where you could mix and match things. Guild wars has the same thing and like Swtor over time they take things away and add new things to make up for it then one day……booooooooooooom!! Now you just spec in that game set tree of abilities and set everything. Worse thing ever was when they took away that diversity in builds.

I agree with the OP on every point. We saw it coming a mile away however, when they first presented Tempest. It didn’t seem ready back then and it still doesn’t feel finished today.

I believe that the Ele will be back where it was some time ago, power builds and other crazy one off builds and very few playing them. I recall a post some years ago that showed Ele is the least played class, I could have dreamed it up but maybe not. I wish instead of taking things away Anet stated to look at adding some other slots to pvp to help expand on the build possibilities. Love my Ele but I played the last 2 days now trying builds and none of them are very good. I am great at dodging and view myself an above average player and the Ele is missing on a few cylinders.
Agree with you bud! Love my DH and he looks way awesome. but like you said very slow movement speed. Best nights for me is when my buddy plays on his rev and boons me!
That being said I always said to myself if only they added this and added this and so forth. But someone said something in another post today you cant be a tank, have speed and have all the damage in the world. So I guess the compromise is speed for the DH.

I agree bud I came back to the game last night and played 11 games 7 wins and 4 losses. In the losses I noticed a lot of players with gear and stuff that most pvp players dont so I assume these guys spend a lot of time in pve. Second in 2 matches I was on the team with this thief that cried we all sucked but when I fought next to this guy I noticed he stood in one place beating on the same guy. Poor players will always loss more games then those are good. 1-2 great players can win matches for their team.
Moving forward out of the 11 matches I have played MMR seems to be a non-factor!
Even tho it looks like the ESL teams are exploiting the system I think the guy above has a valid point they have to do this for queue times and matchmaking. However it still sucks and GW2 system is broke right now, again, but this is the first season and hopefully it will be ironed out before a second season starts.
Title says it all. So board with the current meta for guards. Share that kick kitten build you have with spirits. I want support bunker and spirits. Make it happen! Help!!!!

To rush far at the start, you should either be able to win the 1v1 or stall the 1v2 long enough for it to be an advantage. It can be a viable strategy, and is often a very good way to carry teams in solo queue. You don’t even necessarily need to decap the point if you can hold multiple opponents there long enough. It’s not a cut and dry issue, but if you die too fast, it’s not a good idea.
Exactly! This guys complaint is I believe the guy going far Isn’t contributing in this manner. I push far all the time even in teamQ. Why?? Because I can win the 1v1 at far 99% of the time and hold the point and delay the team as suggested above By Olrun!
Long story short Stop relying on SoloQ for your wins and get a team together and lets push the TeamQ!
I get your frustration but leaving early your giving up your rank points! Earning less on reward tracks and so forth. Leaving the game early maybe is saving you a loss on the statistic boards/ leader board but the formula that calculates your rank on the leader boards still counts that as a loss. I know its frustrating and it sucks but stay and finish, your only punishing your self further.
Super not easy fix. It’s going to force Anet to add an entire matching filter (who knows how long that will take), and often times players in soloq are stacking classes on purpose, for the fun of it.
If players cared more, they would actually make good picks. I mean that as in, if players were rewarded for being good at the game.
It’s based on a player problem, not a matchmaking problem.
Everyone has the ability to switch characters. It’s just a matter of if they care, or want to troll.
I have to agree with Chaith! The whole system would have to be redone. The formula used to pick teams balances out players not classes. Lets face it the best players will win regardless of what class is stacked. This current formula creates teams based on a system that was used to rank chess players and rank them according to who they have beat and lost against. This creates a overall pretty fair match up stacking players based on something as close as you can get to skill as possible with so many variables. However Like Chaith said players choose the class they play. The team will all the thief should have had some volunteers to switch to win the match. More then likely only 1 or 2 of those thief’s are actually any good anyways!

Let me be the first to say this would be great for chatting with people that are sitting on the same screen. Not 100% sure why but I personally have a large amount of friends that hang out in character select for extended amounts of time. I would like this feature so I can tell them to log in already! lol

I like the reward tracks and adding to many will complicate things for players in my opinion. Keep in mind the rank up chest are specific to the level you are in pvp. Also if you are not 80 the reward tracks chests will not have the same mats and drops of someone that is below 80- this was true when they first came out but I haven’t tested this lately. I however can’t find anything that would suggest otherwise. So what your suggesting is sorta in the reward tracks now just not on the large scare your asking for. Again I think adding to many reward tracks will confuse players.
Only thing I can comment on that I know for fact is regardless of what team your on, If you are switched to the other team for balance and the team you where switched from still wins you get the win bonus/ points. Other then that the only issue I have with the reward tracks is it seems like it takes twice as long now to complete one. I feel like there was a ninja patch on them. I am 80 but I level sometimes 2- 2 1/2 times before the reward track is completed sometimes more if I have more losses then average.
All I am saying is there must be more to it! maybe the current system isn’t upgradeable. Maybe this requires a complete reprogramming of the function for it to work. Yes! it isn’t alright for a Dev to suggest that something is in the works and then nothing for 6 months. Hopefully one of the Devs will comment soon. I hear rumor that pvp has something coming soon, lots of speculation but we will see!

The current system can be modified and upgraded whenever they want.
It does not require any complete reprogramming, actually they did much bigger stuff for PVE than what pvp need.
They always say they are working on kitten keep us quiet.
Dont believe when they say something BIG is coming soon, cause the reality is that there will be….. something coming in some time.

however do you work for Anet? Do you have a degree in computer science? Are you a computer programmer and know how to work with complicated code?? I bring this up because we scream and shot about features and upgrades, and we really have no clue what the hold up is. I believe its not a “I don’t want to do it” attitude but more of a technical issues. I get tired of these posts where the people involved really have no clue what they are asking. Again I Hope someone from Anet responds with something soon!

I had never done the story mode and had the same issue. I was trying to complete the armor and weapon sets for the new collections. I had to do the story mode to unlock it. Similar issue maybe, maybe not. Not sure if you have done the story mode but I unlocked mine and have been doing this one for a few days now. Hopefully it helps.
