if you get salty whispers after killing someone then you’re doing something right.
Indeed! Salty whispers in WvW is an absolute highlight in the game for me. It needs to be savored like a fine wine.
I usually just respond with either of these sentences before I put them on ignore:
*Ah, your tears… so delicious. Mmmm….. MMMMMMM OHH YEAAAHHHHH MORE
*U mad bro?
*lawl lern to ply 1 0wn u!1
*Oh, what is that taste I feel? Hmm hmm oh it is the taste of VICTORY.
*Don’t worry I heard there are some tips for your class on metabattle.com! Good luck friend!
And if given the opportunity, ofc un-alive them again

The sword issue is incredible, how has this not been fixed yet?!?!
This thread will be bumped for justice into infinity and beyond until Roy has bestowed his light upon us
Yes, I know this clip was linked in some other thread, I’m sorry
Yes, this issue needs to get solved because her voice is hilariously awful and extremely distracting. It can’t be that time-consuming to disable the voiced screams and just let the dragon-roars remain.
No, you can’t unhear this, I’m sorry
Roy, please stahp
Enjoyed the music and the game play. There were more than a few missed hammer abilities but even in the misses I actually liked seeing the evades to certain things… Showed that you don’t always have to land the hit to make the cast well worth its time and cost. I know that’s probably the most obvious noob thing to admit to just now seeing as a use for an ability but I am the biggest of noobs so its all good.
Thanks for the support Yeah, that is a typical thing I learn to correct by watching my own gameplay. I play slightly too fast for my own good sometimes, some hammer-casts and dragon-elite doesn’t get the time to finish xD
I love the mobility of assassin stance, so much fun, dodge dodge, evade, HAMMERTIME
Finally finished my Revenant PvP-movie! Rerolled from mesmer in the expansion after having played squishy for three years. It will be fun to follow the class through the various nerfs/buffs we can expect
Once you learn to “stance dance” properly things really change. I still have a lot to learn but so far it has been really fun. We’ll see how the balance the other legends in the future because they really need some love…
Hope you enjoy!

Thank you Arenanet for making it possible to experience something like this, it was truly one of the top gaming events in my life
My Swedish guild Ruthless ventured into the Gilded Hollow this monday and managed to take it on the first try, it was awesome
I did my best to make an epic video of the event:

I’m sure this has been raised, but I’m raising it again.
Herald is not usable underwater, but whilst it deactivates, an alternative underwater set of abilities (say demon) dont activate to replace them. As other classes have different underwater skill sets if their normal skills dont work underwater, why not Herald?
Its incredibly annoying to have to manually change to a new aspect when you enter and leave water.
This is an incredibly basic thing for gameplay, did no dev actually ever take a Herald specced Rev into water? I find that hard to believe, so why has this not been addressed?
Yes, this is quite strange and seems completely unfinished in development. A marvel it made it past internal testing…?!
I am sure it has been addressed somewhere but my googlekittenseems to be lacking right now. If there is an appropriate thread, please merge mine with it and all’s good.
Now, to the point… I am currently the self-appointed decorator for the hall my guild claimed, mostly to see what can be done and there are a couple of minor(?) issues with the way decorations currently work.
1. It would be nice to have a preview available for decorations not currently unlocked, especially the ones you can trade for the Mordremoth’s Bane item.
2. It would be even nicer if we had a way to retrieve to storage a decoration, without having to track it down. We have misplaced one vine wall and can’t find it. You’d think vivid green would stand out in the sandstone background of the precipice, but nooo…
3. It would be convenient if you could hide all the locked decorations from the list, when picking one with the 6 skill (though I can hazard a few guesses why that may be tricky to do).
1. Agree
2. Agree again, in fact it is very strange this ability wasn’t available from start. We let all members go wild and crazy with decorations the first days to celebrate the guild hall, but plan on doing a more “proper” decoration by officers at a later time. Are we going to have to search every single corner of the zone just to retrieve all the decorations? That is preposterous and you know it ADD ZE BUTTON plx
This skill must have a skill compontent with it. Please let revenant be hit and CC’d while using it. Now its just facerolling to win and doing 1 million damage done in every arena. Revenant has no weaknesses. Can you imagine ranger hitting Rapid Fire and being invulnerable every time he hits it? There is no counterplay to this skill. There is also one flawed mechanic that it always strikes from the back so it gets the life steal from the trait resulting in it being an invulnerability heal highest damage skill in the game. Please do something about it. The invulnerability is dumb and unskillful/ not fun to play against. Let the revenant be damaged and controled during the duration of this skill – this will make setups valulable and it’s not like you can stunbreak it everytime when the skill has 8 seconds of cooldown.
Unrelenting assault is extremely easy to counter, just double dodge, block, invuln, blink, stealth or any other of a gazillion ways to easily negate it. It is a l2p issue, you need to be on your toes so you are not caught off-guard, as with ANY OTHER hard-hitting skills of ANY class
Something I found I could do is run a tankier amulet such as Sentinel, keep my crit chance high with perma fury+roiling mists and then set up a huge burn onto my enemy by doubletapping both Facet of Nature and Facet of Strength, to dunk a bunch of snap-Might onto yourself and then 20 Vuln onto the enemy before going ham.
It basically gives you a small window of berserker damage whilst building more towards being a bruiser.
Some really good tips coming already in this thread, thanks <3
Seems like this would work great with sword 3 as well
Yeah definitely! I sometimes like to unrelenting assault defensively if I’m low on energy and swap legends while the skill is going to build up energy early before continuing the fight after UA is over, too.
Brilliant! Same goes for shield 5 I guess
Lastly, you can combo Offhand sword 5 into Staff 5 to completely annihilate anyone without any stunbreaks or invulns left. As the pull will set them up right into your Surge of the Mists’ path.
Awesome, looking forward to trying that out
Overall being aware of that legend-swapping is possible while casting abilities is very valuable
Ahoy fellow revenants!
I thought it would be nice to have a thread where we can give each other tips about how to get better at pvp while we fight the other filthy peasant classes It doesn’t have to be just theorycrafting but can be anything from small psychological advantages, builds, using the right skill at the right time et etc. What works for YOU? Any specific combos you like?
I put together a short clip with some pvp from the latest beta weekend, watching your own gameplay can truly help you learn and become better. I make tons of mistakes with timing and targeting etc but still I learned a lot.
• Hammer 3 can sometimes be worth using just for the evade/survival if your endurance is low
• Glint elite is absolutely brilliant at capture points
• Shield 4, use it even if you don’t have teammates nearby to buff, the extra heal is nice
• For sPvP and a glint/shiro build, so far knight stats feels best for me. What works best for you?
• Don’t get stuck with one legend, make sure to stance-dance to get all the might and fury from Glint and then switch to Shiro for the mobility
• Activate shiro heal before you go into sword 3 unrelenting assault, boom extra damage and healing
Let the caring and sharing begin
Did PvP most of the weekend. What a wonderful class you have designed Roy, it is super fun to play. I got smacked around a lot but it was still really fun to learn the mechanics. It didn’t feel underpowered or overpowered at all, sure there are absolutely some minor tweaks to fix but overall really nice.
I played shiro/glint with knight/soldier gear and did many duels against a Scrapper. Every fight would last about 3-4 minutes and I lost the fights mainly because when his burst came I did not have the necessary energy to counter it (also he could restart the fight with stealth). I knew exact what to do, it was just not possible to do it.
I don’t think legend-swapping should reset energy, it doesn’t make sense that the resource you spent time/skill building up suddenly disappears just because you need to use another tool in your toolbox. It feels punishing and discouraging. “Oh I see you need to Riposting Shadows out of this cc or you will get rekt, but are in Glint-stance? Too bad let me remove a considerable amount of your resource…that you built up” I understand the need for a resource so you can’t just spam everything, but perhaps make it 75 energy on swap or something that doesn’t feel so… wingclipped?
Two more things:
Hammer 5 is absolutely useless in PvP, it hits nothing unless you fight complete noobs or peek out from behind a tree and attack people that has their backs turned against you. The casting time is too slow.
Glint “constipated old woman” scream is hilariously horrible, it sounds bizarre. The dragon sound effect on Chaotic release is awesome, something like that or something more Dragon-sounding would be great and shouldn’t be too hard to change? “Old woman”-sounds are quite simply not that fitting for an awesome knight of the mists…

Its biggest issue is with Unrelenting Assault. My solution was to DRAMATICALLY increase the damage per hit based on the number of targets around you within Unrelenting Assasult’s radius. This way, each strike is actually worth it. And the evades honestly is necessary. Why does Riposting Shadows get an evade and Unrelenting Assault doesn’t even though the overall concept of travel is the same? It’s inconsistent.
That is a truly great idea!
I hope we get some info from Roy soon about the evade
First of all, this class has huge potential and is fun to play. This version was a big improvement from the first revenant weekend beta. Here are the things that popped into MY mind when playing:
CONs:
——-
Overall a lot of the Revenant abilities seem to have a somewhat naive design when it comes to casting time. While you are preparing to do stuff soon, your enemy is doing stuff NOW. The damage overall still feels very low.
Energy: Not sure about this mechanic overall. Increase default from 50 to 75 ? Reduce ability-costs? I feel kitten/held back. I the heat of battle I suddenly get shut down, and it is not because I was using too many abilities.
Weapons:
Hammer:
Drop the hammer is completely useless on targets that are not standing still or running in a straight line. In PvP it is extremely hard to hit with even when “aiming/predicting movement patterns”. It needs to cast a lot quicker.
Phase smash is a little better but also still slow.
Warding rift is way too slow. I don’t think that a block/reflect should have a casting time. The actual skill of using this is when you react to the enemy’s casting and then block/reflect it. The skill should not be to be psychic, start casting the ability and then wait/hope for the enemy to do something. That is the wrong order.
Sword/sword:
Feels overall somewhat weak.
Precision strike feels pretty useless, could use a little more oomph
Unrelenting assault. As everybody else is already saying, evade is needed and would be quite logical, nobody should be able to see you in the mists right?
Grasping Shadow is glitching/not working many times
Legends:
Perhaps add passive bonuses to the legends to help them flesh out their use. Doesn’t have to be much, but something?
Jalis utilities:
This legend is supposed to be tank right? I get the feeling this should be the place where you go when you are taking heavy damage and need to mitigate that.
Forced engagement: Way too expensive to be useful
Rite of the great dwarf: During the looong time you will spend casting this, your enemy will be having a ball smashing your head against the pavement repeatedly. Simply not worth it.
Shiro utilities:
Enchanted daggers healing. Hmm…. I like the idea of having an “aggressive” heal, but healing is something you need when the crap hits the fan. Perhaps add a small immediate component, just a small one. The enchanted daggers disappear too quickly if not used, let the stick around a while longer.
Impossible odds is too expensive, you can’t use it to burst because you don’t have energy for the abilities while it is on. It’s only use currently is to finish downed enemies faster.
PROs:
Weapons:
Sword/sword: Unrelenting assault is a such a cool ability. Its fun and different. When the evade has been added it will be an excellent attack. Love it!
Shiro utilities:
Phase traversal. For me this pretty much makes the revenant. I absolutely love this ability. It is the ultimate charge, and I love charging. It has awesome range and a nice bonus. Dps dps dps boom next enemy dps dps dps boom next enemy, charging around the battlefield like a menace. Amazing! This needs to never ever get nerfed.
My humble thoughts
Good luck with your work

With a staggering 20 minutes of gameplay experience of the new class I recorded some clips of Revenant pvp and threw it together in this little movie. The class is very noticibly incomplete, but I can really feel the potential. Great fun!
Now onto, the noobness:
Well, although I agree with what MSfone wrote I have to say that I liked the intro, the effects you added, the post processing. I cannot say anything about music because I do not have sound at work.
Regarding the gameplay I think you recorded too many fights vs uplevel players.
Last fight with the thief was nice. To be fair yes, the veteran tree did damage him in the end but it was a bit of a pain for Draxx too having the npc around, since he received some damage along the fight and got even rooted.
Thanks man But to be fair, I dont fight any upscaled people other than one quick fatality when the zerg tried to gank me, and in the bonus-clip in the end, which is just for fun anyway.
Yeah I really enjoyed the thief fight. Fights where you have to take extra factors like npcs or special terrain into consideration are extra fun because you have to adapt and use lots of mobility.

MSFone, I really appreciate the feedback, thanks for taking the time to write it. I understand that the comments in the video can seem like bragging, I will have to adjust that for next vid because I really do not want it to come off like that, but in truth they are more like cynism, because, man, getting good, ENTERTAINING, 1vs1 fights is really hard. As you can see in the vid my appearence is shifting a lot, since this has been recorded over an extended period of time. Maybe I’ve just had bad luck or something but I can’t believe how few people that actually stay and fight. I discarded countless recordings that was nearly unusable since people just flee, flee, hide, cry to their momma etc etc. It is quite frusturating. And just watching duels is boring, I want to fight people out there on the field.
If you had made it longer into the vid there are more skilled opponents after the eotm-sequence, and some more crowded situations as well as a really nice long fight against a thief.
Again, huge thanks for the feedback, will take it with me for the next one!
Thats ok, I switch to the “Your life is a lie” elite-skill at the 5 minute mark ;-)
Thanks for constructive feedback
Grenth, for the extra condi-damage and the chill-effect on my heal
On the GS-spec I used Traveller
I’ll add it to the video, thanks for the question
(edited by Draxx.1520)
Heya!
Recently finished part 3 in my series of Mesmer PvP-movies. Having some fun with conditions which is my main spec (scepter+torch and staff), and some testing around with an alternative GS-build. Hope you enjoy!
Feel free to post constructive comments / feedback, thanks!
Edit: thanks for all the feedback, it really helps me to get better
