Could be you are very much right when I see the latest message: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/developer-diary-joy-of-movement-on-mounts/

It is like telling to all of us who have troubles that we are ignored.

The lack of reaction from Anet makes me worry. Fact is that I love GW2 and will not stop playing the rest of it, but if nothing changes with the raptor, I can simply not use the new pack.
Therefore my question: Does anyone know if it is possible to cancel a pre-purchase? Is there a time limitation?

I am surprised that we got no statement from Anet about what is – or not – going on related to that issue. Or maybe they have done so somewhere else than in this thread?

I also get sick at using raptor and I worry a bit that it will stay as is…

At that step, posts repeat all the same, with no new information. Some have motion sickness, some not. Some want a change, some not. Some have understanding, some not. Some say it is a minority, some others say that it is more than just a minority: I don’t know, I have not seen concrete numbers.
I believe that as of now, only Anet can make a statement in one direction or the other (potential solutions or not changing anything)… I don’t know if they have a way to estimate the amount of players concerned by the trouble and taking decision not to buy the pack due to it.
Fact is that main feature of the new pack – mandatory for proper playing – is causing a trouble. From there, this is with Anet to decide how far it is detrimental to their business case, and accordingly how far it is worth going into changes (and in that case, what for changes), or not.

My big concern is that if they do tweak things to solve the motion sickness that some are suffering, the solution might prove problematic to the rest of us, and cause us to feel sick instead. Any changes I feel need to be on sliders so that they can be adjusted to suit a specific player.

Yes, you are right, it is a risk. I trust Anet will avoid going for a solution that makes them swap from one trouble to another one.

On my side, I was further testing. To zoom out as far as possible did help me a lot. To watch a fix point ahead instead of my char when I stop, or/and when I jump off the raptor is helping also. The tail skill remains an issue though.

I wonder if with time going by, we can get use to the effects and cope better. I tend to believe that yes, at least I hope so.

Sorry but what does it have to do with loving or not loving? I love to mount. A lot. I am excited at the new upcoming pack and enjoy a lot mounting. Where did you read different?
That I have a problem of motion sickness at certain of the raptor movements has no impact on that.

Spectre and BurningHeavy, no offense meant, but maybe you should read the whole thread before to post. It has been identified and confirmed that there is a trouble for many players due to some of the jerky movement of the raptor mount.

@Spectre: Nice for you that you do not have motion sickness, I would love to be like you, but how shall that help now? The thread is about helping those having the trouble. You make no proposal?

@BurningHeavy: Scroll up and you will see that zooming out as far as it goes has already been proposed and discussed. To some extent, it helps (thankfully), but it does not completely fix it. You will see also that many other things have been proposed/tested. Let’s see if one – or more – will help.

I saw someone asking to be more precise about what is causing the sickness, I can answer how it is in my case:
- When the raptor stops from running, he has this slight twist effect turning its body to the left side (like when we emergency brake with a bicycle). That one is making my stomach jump high.
- When we dismount is another one.
- When using the tail skill.
Otherwise, when mounting and just running around, I am OK.

I have tested:
- To zoom out as much as possible. In my case, it helps. It does not remove the trouble completely, but it delays when it starts.
- To disable the camera adjustement to Char height. I have not seen that it makes a difference.
- I have reduced a lot camera rotation speed. It seems to help too.

Remark: In my case, to play with the settings like Depth Blur & co, did not show any significant improvement, so I keep them as are.

I just discover that thread and I am thankful for it. I did the primary to reach Elona yesterday and had to give up on it due to feeling unwell, up to nausea, at the raptor movements. It was really terrible. Sorry if it can sound stupid, but it’s a fact.

Today I tried to cope with it again. As long as the raptor is running straight, I watch far ahead or on mini-map and it helps somewhat. But the jerky side movement of the raptor when he stops , as well as using the tail skill and generally all the jerky twists get my stomach up in some seconds.

I never had that in the game before, so I am a bit surprised at it. Unfortunately it is real bad in my case.

I have told about it to guildies and I am not the only one with same trouble. Made me feel less an idiot! ;-)

So yes, I am part of those who will be happy if the raptor movements could be optimized to prevent this.

Cute kitty tag vs. real commanders

Makes sense Yumiko.

I have verified and it is called a “commander tag”. I have not know that. I was not sure as what it is sold. Then, it is clear that it is meant for commanders or players who want to do commanders.

The tag is probably just too cute! LOL

Let’s hope that it will calm down, like many have said above. Only if it should not and maps would start being overwhelmed with tags having no meaning, first then it would need a solution. Time will tell.

Dreamy Lu.3865

Hello

The new kitty tag is cute. So far so good. I like it. However, in PvE, it seems that many players have bought it to use it as “decoration” only, not doing the commander job. It is very much OK, no worries at that, only it is a bit annoying, like when map travelling to join a tag – meaning costs – and once at tag, discovering it is just a guy farming. And when there are several in the same map, to start asking each of them if they are a “real” commander or not…. Well…

I already saw several map chats about the topic, getting a bit hot. I am not sure how far it could become a problem? What could be a solution to prevent this? The tag is cute, and all players may have it, but it should not interfere with the commander fonction?

And please don’t shoot at me, there is no offense meant against players who use it for decoration. I just raise a point that is already now a bit disturbing and could need a solution.

Now if it is just a “mode” effect and calm down after a while, then question can be cancelled.

Who the hell...

Could someone explain how to exactly put the “-assetsrv 64.25.41.2” in the target section? Alone? At the end of existing path? Sorry, first time I am trying to use such bypass. Thank you.

QUESTION CANCELLED. Description is given in the support section. See below for info:
- copy this from here: -assetsrv 64.25.41.2
- go to your GW2 folder
-find your GW2.exe (or GW2 -64. exe)
- make a link from the *.exe to your desktop
- go to your desktop, find the link and open its properties
- paste the -assetsrv 64.25.41.2 behind the exe
- looks like this: “C:\Program Files\Guild Wars 2\Gw2-64.exe” -assetsrv 64.25.41.4

Fractals: Still fun?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Dreamy Lu.3865

Dreamy Lu.3865

I do not have troubles at fractals. I did very much like to do them a while ago. I just find that the changes they have done make them more difficult than earlier times. But well, that’s only my impression.
And you are certainly right: Fact is that I go with teams via party offer, often meaning to be with persons who don’t know well the mechanics and it becomes then quite hard. I should try to find a team of persons doing it regularly and keep going with them. This would certainly improve a lot the experience.
Thanks for the feedback.

Dreamy Lu.3865

Hello

I would like to hear feedback about how you find the fractals since all the changes. Reason for my question is that on my side, I find that they have become a lot more difficult, even for levels below 50, therefore reducing the fun at it. I am less motivated to go for it. And since I have noticed that the amount of party offers has quite reduced, it makes me wonder if it would not be a general tendency due to this increased difficulty.

Do you find them more difficult than before?

Jumping Puzzles are getting out of hand

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Dreamy Lu.3865

Dreamy Lu.3865

I am a fan of jumping. I have all JPs done. I am pretty good at that and I also love to help others through JPs, giving me a reason to keep jumping even if I don’t need to do the JPs anymore! Crazy me… LOL
However, although I am a JP lover, I agree with most of what has been said above: The last ones are in danger of killing the fun at jumping. The Ember Bay JP is a good example: To my eyes, this one has gone over the acceptable limit. It is by far too long and does combine too many difficulties in the same place, especially the first part with difficult jumping, difficult gliding, lava, geyser kicking off gliding and grubs shooting fire too! Seriously Anet….
I believe that only a minority of players really get full fun at doing it.
To my eyes, it is no problem to have very difficult JP, and I am glad about them, BUT, there should be a way that people who don’t like jumping, or who are not comfortable at it, are not forced to it. Because as is now, many “needed” stuff is at the end of JPs, turning them into something mandatory. That’s where it is no more so good.
We were talking about it with friends last week: Maybe that a solution could be that a JP always has two parts. One of low – to medium – difficulty level, at the end of which is the main needed item (like one mastery point or an item for a collection), and then, a second part of high difficulty level, giving a very good reward coming additional for jumpers doing it, but that would not be of the type “absolutely required”. So that this second part, the “hassle” in some way, is only optional for those who love that.
And I agree with Faris that unfortunately, professions are not equal toward the different activities, what can mean to be forced to a profession for a specific purpose, even if we don’t like that prof. So a set of different chars is really the solution, even if not all of them bring fun depending on one’s taste.

Note: I have trouble only to go in location Noble’s Folly. Everywhere else works for me. And fortunately, I have one of my chars who was not in NF… Lucky!

It is not going better than when I posted earlier this morning. The only thing is that by now, I have identified what areas and towns work more or less well, and what ones are to be avoided. Typically, in my case, Noble’s Folly is the worst place to be for now. I get kicked off after less than 2 minutes. On the other hand, I was farming in Sparkfly Fen and Orr areas without any troubles.

Game client/server problems

Dreamy Lu.3865

It is not only in the U.K. It is also happening in France, Switzerland, Holland and others. From what I know, there was no need for re-installation or any such big action(s). It is on Anet side and for us players, a matter of patience only. In my case and many other guildies, out of which two in the U.K., it was suddenly possible to enter the game again during morning. The only thing is that we are still with the Lunar build. This is not the build with the new LS story episode.

Edited for an add
Just to share: When I did log on some minutes ago, I got the red text about connection error re-trying. This happened while I was on the phone so I let it go on screen untouched. After a while, I looked at my screen while still talking on the phone: I suddenly saw the red text disappearing and the logon went further trouble free. It confirms that you should “just” be patient and let it go. Good luck.

Cursor Appearance: Different ones available?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Dreamy Lu.3865

Dreamy Lu.3865

Hello

Sorry if my question is a bit weird: Has Anet released officially the use in GW2 of different cursor appearances? If yes, what ones?

I have trouble losing my cursor on screen during fight due to its much too “neutral” color, disappearing in middle of all the screen effects. However, from what I have seen, the existing applications to apply a different cursor that can be better seen, don’t seem to be official?

Thank you for info

MSI Afterburner vs. GW2

in Account & Technical Support

Dreamy Lu.3865

Hello

After the last big GW2 download, the game was no more running on my computer. After lot of efforts (I spare you the story), we – Anet support and me – finally found out that the reason was… MSI Afterburner! If MSI AB was running, GW2 was not starting. If MSI AB was turned on while playing GW2, the game was crashing… Well, no choice: I have simply uninstalled MSI AB. Since then, I have no more troubles. However, I regret MSI AB because it is a nice tool. Therefore my question: Did anyone experience troubles to use MSI AB with GW2 since last download? Any feedback on that generally?

Thank you.

In case it can be of help for anyone else with this same problem: In my case, I finally found out what was the problem. For whatever reason, I had 3 execution files in the GW2 folder and the program was picking up a different one than the -64 one. I have updated the addess so that it picks up the -64 file, and it was working again trouble free the minute after I did that… Unbelievable! Why did I not check in that folder from the first… LOL

Tailor: Level 149, how further up?

Dear All

Thank you very much for the support!

Now I know what information I was missing: I had not understood properly all the type of items that can be discovered. Thankfully, I was able to see that clearly at site indicated by Astral Projections. This link is really a very helpful one.

I am now happily discovering all what I am missing and expect to be soon at 150.

Tailor: Level 149, how further up?

in Crafting

Posted by: Dreamy Lu.3865

Dreamy Lu.3865

Hello

One of my char is tailor and has reached level 149. Since then, I cannot craft further because all items are either white (no more points) or red (require 150). I am stuck on the crafting side.

On the Discovery side, it is not better. I put items from left side into the slots right side, and it tells me that I have or more unknown recipe for the selected items, but the “craft” button remains grey (for example: Bolt of wool with bone shard). So it does not work to get a new recipe. I am stuck there too.

Therefore my question and sorry if it is a stupid one: How am I suppose to get the points I need to go from 149 to 150 if neither the discovery nor the crafting works? It is clear to me that I am missing something go on, but I am not able to find out what and I would be real glad for help.

Thank you
