Envoy Armor 1: No will accept you in raids?

Dresdoe.7503

My problem with raids isn’t that I cannot find a group, it’s that I cannot find a group that is capable. I get spots easily because I play Chrono, Herald and Reaper at max specs, but that all goes out the window when there are no instructions telling the squad what their objective is and how to accomplish it. The effect is that if you don’t have a full squad of people that have been through the whole thing multiple times that you are stuck FAILING over and over until you give up on the squad and eventually raids altogether.

This malarchy that you go into the raid and the only key to how to achieve the final goal is to read the clues under the name of each boss is just shoddy at best.

What raids need is at least an NPC shouting at the squad giving a heads up about the tactics necessary to defeat each boss so that those of us that know what to do already don’t have to divide half of our attention to directing the other half of the squad.

I mean it’s all fine and dandy to have to be good, it’s nice to need skill, but it’s beyond me to have to teach this to every single new group that I join just to not complete the raid.

I made a statement once that I wasn’t upset with raids because they were hard. I also stated that the raids gave me a reason to want to have filters in the LFG system so I could avoid players with less than 1k achievement points or other such notifiers of experience and/or skill.

I’d really appreciate a system in which I can find like players with like skills/rating to join up with because as of right now the entire LFG system is a mess and trying to find a raid squad is no less than a shot-in-the-dark if you don’t have a large guild that specifically meets for raids.

As an afterthought I’d like to say that the entire idea of raids is welcome to me, but it feels out of place in the current state of the game due to the lack of a proper system to find players that are like-minded and have the qualities necessary for completion.

My client keeps proc’ing an error and says retrying over and over without delay, suggesting that it is not even full attempting to connect.

It is happening with both 32-bit and 64-bit clients.

Thank you.

Rob Shapiro is most recognized for being part of the defense team which successfully defended O. J. Simpson in 1995 from the charges that he murdered his ex-wife Nicole Brown and Ronald Goldman in 1994. (taken directly from his wikipedia page) Who’d have thunk it? One of the guys who helped O.J. get away with murder is now voice acting for an mmorpg, he also founded Legalzoom FYI

You only start it in the starter zone, but there will be tiers that unlock at each level so that you get rewards at lower level also.

I imagine it as a collection that starts in the zone and then you travel to other lands to either gather tools/materials or artifacts to be brought back to people later on, but still starting it off in the original zone.

It could have a vital role in incorporating new seasonal updates as well by pairing it up with things that are going on in our living world.

This idea kind of reaches past map completion and adds a whole new level of completion for each zone that stretches past it borders

I think of a lot of ideas, here is one I’d like to share:

For every zone in central Tyria starting with zones 1-15 there should be a corresponding glider skin associated with the general theme of the map. This would be similar to the karma items you can purchase that have unique skins from certain zones.

So at first we’d only have the five from each starting zone to unlock, but that would be okay because if the glider skins are part of a collection then acquiring them can involve traveling to other zones to complete the collection.

This kind of new activity would involve both new and senior players because the ones that are level 80 with world completion can go and experience the journey all in one go and then go work on the next. On the other hand the new players with have a slow, but informative introduction to the collection system and are also geared towards exploring and thus gaining more experience to keep them interested and giving them incentive to keep playing.

Just by adding a few simple collections with a nice reward that involves and utilizes the dynamic events and the ‘hearts’ in the game it would revive old content across Tyria and potentially form new platforms for future development.

I think all of this is worth mention because it is a great way to blend the old with the new and really revitalize all that Guild Wars 2 has to offer!

Thanks for reading and good bye.

This has been answered so many times as it is now ridiculous to even think about bringing up something that was just a “this is what we would like” and as things change and grow things get cut and added.
As for the grinding …… I have been playing since head-start/beta and I have yet to grind. Not once have I grinded and I have played just about every day. I am not only doing the old Bolt but also every other new legendary weapon in the game at the moment. I am collecting as I go and not worrying about how fast I get them done. For me it is not a contest to see how fast I get them done. I am just letting the pieces come when they come. Having too much fun just playing to think about “oh crap I don’t have this legendary yet”

I call bs, you can’t play this game without grinding for something, anyone who claims otherwise has a faulty definition of a grind.

Sorry I read the first page and I read the first post on the 10th page and it seems the majority of you are oblivious to the main concern of the OP

They had achieved access to content previous to HoT, they paid money expected to achieve access to more content, only to find out that they in fact had lost the progress they already had.

They then continued to express their concerns that making people pay for content in game that they had already earned in game is wrong, it is almost as bad if not worse than resetting a level 80 characters experience and making them level up again from scratch.

If you think the argument here is whether small guilds should have handicaps then you have missed the point entirely and would be better off not sharing your opinion.

Hey! Those 4000 odd people watching that stream think it’s highly valuable!

The people who watch streams are the cancer that needs to be purged from the internet. I mean seriously they contribute zilch to the community as a whole, whereas those of us that have actually supported the game have been kicked to the curb in order to encourage…..what? people to watch? this is so disturbing to me.

Really calling people who watch streams cancer now ?

That’s mighty low, especially from what is supposed to be a friendly community. Shame that PvE players are being so toxic, instead of constructive and a staple part of the community that thrives to show their best sides…..

As for contributing nothing, really….can you tell me all the solo “causal” etc contribute anything more outside of constant complaints founded only in the basis that they are too stubborn or unwilling to learn/adapt ?

The whole anti eSports crusade is a sad joke on the communities part. You don’t have to like, understand or even remotely care why its a thing, but refrain from the petty and nonsensical and baseless attacks on people who enjoy something you do not.

you seem completely ignorant to the fact that PvE players have sustained this game as the majority purchasers of gems which are the financial backbone to this game, seeing how this games streaming accounts are joking unpopular they are not even relevant to the profits generated by GW2. Arenanet is trying to force this change, which is the stupid part of it all which is why I blame everyone who watches people play games instead of actually playing them. Can you not see how their not playing is ruining our game we have up til now fully supported? They have literally SAW something that was ours and mutilated it. I stick to my original comment, people who watch streams are the equivalent of cancer to those of us who actually play and don’t care about streaming. I’ve paid hundreds of dollars to play this game and enjoy it and it’s all being twisted and warped into some trash that I don’t even have interest in. If I wanted a hardcore pvp stream experience I’d play something revolving entirely around PvP, not take an mmorpg and try to turn it into some busted, falling apart, unbalanced wreck like it is now. I understand that you think they should have a right to watch us play and not get labeled as cancer and that’s true, but when it starts leading the the developers down some messed up road that I have not ever cared about nor want to care about that creates a problem that cannot be ignored.

Always know your audience.

This. And having an Xpac that fully changes the world is fine, IF you can cater to both (all) current types of players.

All they have done with this one is made one portion of the community happy while making the other miserable. And yes as a casual gamer with a life, I can go into the core game and still enjoy it like I always did, BUT then why did I pay for an Xpac?

To pay for eSports tournaments apparently

New Players Feedback On HoT

Dresdoe.7503

I know this seems kinda out there, but try rerolling as another character class and experiment with them, I’d personally recommend mesmer or engineer because they are highly recommended overall, but they offer a more complex style of fighting to better train you for the harder maps, after you have played around with them a bit then try switching back over to your warrior and see if it feels more comfortable. I belive this “fresh air” strategy works wonders, but don’t feel too weighed down about how messed up HoT is because the vast majority of us “seasoned” players feel the same way, the expansion content is new so all the kinks have yet to be worked out, but on another note at least when you switch characters to try out a new skill set for a while you won’t be wasting your precious xp boosters. Try to keep your head up and I’m sure you will find a guild to really help you succeed, assuming GW2 doesn’t fall off the face of the earth after the way they have treated the casual players in the last month or so.

Dresdoe.7503

Well well well, where should I start? First off, Arenanet you don’t get any more of my money. Second, your entire design of the new maps is trash. Third, I understand that Heart of Thorns was aimed towards group content, but it was never discussed that simply reaching the personal story objectives would be enough to make me hate the game. Finally, I have played less than 24 hours since launch of Spirit Vale because it really cemented the fact in my mind that none of this new content is meant to be fun. It is all meant to be annoying, everything is gated whether it is the elite specs, the story, the guild halls, everything……every single piece of new content is gated. I’m a pretty competent player, but you know being 28 years old, I’m not really going to adjust my play style to cater to your marketing strategy. I mean it was one thing when you removed item drops from story instances, it was one thing when you nerfed dungeons, it was also one thing when you charged an outrageous amount of money for a very limited amount of content and started incorporating “deals” in the gem store that are similar to “black friday sales” that are not reduced prices at all because they were never released at any other price (crystal arbiter) BUT it is a completely different thing when you ALSO remove the experience from story instances so that now I don’t feel as if fighting stuff matters in my own personal story. Suffice it to say, you have ruined Guild Wars 2 as a whole, screw Heart of Thorns that was botched from the get go. You seem to think that your 1.5 million new free to play players are going to carry you and that eSports is a viable solution to your sustainment as a relevant video game in the current scene. Well, let’s see if alienating the other 1.5 million of us that ACTUALLY PAID for your game is as good of an idea as you were led to believe.

Tides of Time and how it behaves.

Dresdoe.7503

The chronomancer shield 5 skill seems a little flawed to me. It is a high cooldown skill that can be wasted too easily and it loses a ton of functionality when in tight spaces. If nothing else is done to fix this I fear losing precious time in a fight because I need to check and make sure my Tides of Time has enough room to run its full course and turn around so I can lower my recharge. My suggestion is that the wave bounce off of walls and still reverse direction. Please give your opinions on this.

I just finished this quest from living story season 2 and I just want to pour my heart out to the guild wars 2 dev team who put that whole piece of the story together. It was probably the most meaningful quest and/or fight I’ve completed since launch. Having a sylvari as my main character, it meant a lot to me to help defend The Pale Tree. There is no other character in all of Tyria that means more to me than the Great Mother.

Thank you and please make me love being a Sylvari even more in the future.

Dresdoe.7503

ArenaNet and the Guild Wars 2 team have gone a long way to provide strong story and dialog to hint at homosexual love in the game and that is all fine and dandy, I won’t hate on girl on girl love. However I cannot help but notice that there is a lack of heterosexual relationships in the game, correct me if I’m wrong, but I think the only man and woman relationship in the story is Logan and Queen Jennah. This post is to gather support for a strong male NPC to come in the near future that could potentially become a love interest for an NPC of the opposite sex. Thank you for reading and thank you again if you agree.

P.S. by strong I don’t mean ugly as busted rocks, I mean clean, eloquent, well behaved and good looking. Someone that has the prestige of Thackeray, but more of a loner, not so eager to be the Queen’s lapdog if you know what I mean.

Any idea of this nature I think would enhance the game in cool yet insignificant ways.

Fred you are completely separated from the majority of the PvE only community. It is a fact that the vast majority of Guild Wars 2 players do not participate in WvWvW and have no intentions of doing so. In regards to this, our opinion counts more than those of you who are interested in PvP because we are the more concentrated portion of the guild wars 2 user base. You can argue and complain all you want, but the fact remains you are a little tiny group (and most likely person) that is not a voice of the larger community. I have no problem venturing into WvWvW, but I still feel that forcing those who want 100% world completion to explore content they either A. are not interested in or B. never going to succeed at for lack of PvP talent is preposterous and I think Arenanet would do well to acknowledge this argument. Give me one good reason we should all have to go into a PvP world that doesn’t involve you claiming all of the non competitive players are babies and I may consider retracting my argument, but judging from your previous comments that is extremely doubtful. You make zero valid points that actually pertain to the substance of this thread.

arenanet is burning its bridges in my book and all I have to say is that I don not approve of their lies pertaining to not having to grind to get what players want, I’ve been playing this game since the headstart and it is my only hobby, I still could never afford to get the perma items through crafting, not even the recipes. so arenanet who may i ask is this content aimed towards? the vast majority of your customers or is it aimed towards the people that live breathe and eat mmo’s? because I have a job and I sleep and believe it or not I can’t play Guild Wars 2 24/7 just to have something to remind me of Halloween 2012. If this is how every event wil be then I will stop playing this horrible game because I am not in it to compete I am playing the game so I can enjoy it….stop trying to hard to make it unenjoyable for the average player please.
FYI everyone else, $20 US exchanges into about 9g in game so it would cost around $100 to aquire these items with real money where is the fun in having to buy things over and over again? I paid for this game so I could have fun and at every turn you are taking the fun away and trying to paint a funny face on it which isn’t the same as fun.

I played Guild Wars for several years. Guild Wars 2 should first and foremost be a sequel to its predecessor. In the original Guild Wars when arenanet said an event would start they gave a very specific time. You could have made a countdown timer if you so chose. Guild Wars 2 on the other hand is showing to arenanets paying customers that their same attention to time is more than lacking. For instance, any typical Guild Wars event started at forgive me if I’m wrong but I think 6 a.m. Pacific Time so.. 8 a.m. or so in Texas where I live and I could count on that…EVERY time. I had planned on buying all of the gemstore halloween items, but now I don’t even know how many gems I will need and I wanted to be one of the first to be sporting one of these items. I have no clue when I will get to purchase them at all, unless you count before tomorrow. I believe “before tomorrow” is the most unsatisfactory timeframe I have ever heard of ever at all. Except perhaps “before I die.” So, arenanet I commend you on the quality of your game. I instead express immense displeasure with your communication and dedication to living up to the expectations of your dedicated gamers and we really deserve better than this next time.

You’re the reason developers believe their player bases are full of immature children with entitlement issues.
