“What happens if they introduce a new massive expansion and push the level cap? I cannot even begin to imagine the QQ rage.”
I could imagine you’d see a lot of WoWonites and the freebie asian MMO players jump onto GW2, and their current playerbase leaving.
Wouldn’t the lvl 80’s like to have something to do? How long can you coast on your lvl 80 exotics really, it has to get boring sometime.
I think the problem is the supply didn’t burn fast enough during the event.
Ideally I would like all armor to be specific to your combination of race+class as well as skills conforming to the same.

It doesnt get much more convenient than the 30 secs it takes to buy gems. This sounds like you don’t have a credit card, and want to tell whoever it is that supports you that the game has a subscription fee when really it doesnt so you can buy gems regularly without having to ask each month.
Your assumption is wrong. I’m a married 34 year man, father of a 3 year old, who is the sole provider for my family, and has a wife who is playing Wizard 101, which I am paying $10 a month for her to play. You really think I have a problem needing to ask for a credit card?
Okay fine, I’ll admit I may have been a little overzealous in my assumptions and gone a little too far. I apologize.
In retrospect I suppose it doesn’t seem like such a horrible thing to have a monthly gem subscription set up. The only issue is that its mind numbingly simple to buy gems as it is, the BLTC even remembers your CC details so its like 6 clicks maximum and takes all of 30 seconds so it just seems like alot of dev resource being redirected to save 30 seconds of clicking.

They should have more skins for engi backpacks. It doesn’t really mesh well with higher level exotic gear.
It’s still early, I don’t think there is enough variety available in the Gem Shop to regularly offer promotions without it getting stale.
Giant yeti-hamsters? Ill take two.
This discussion confuses me. Hate for mounts, love for mounts, mounts serve no purpose, mounts dont need to serve a purpose, etcetc.
Personally I like mounts, i treat them like collectibles. I think they could use a speed boost since a mount running in slow motion would look strange. Mounts should only really be to look nice and to run a little faster, none of this mounted combat immunity stuff I think. And if Anet does decide to put em in, who’s it gonna hurt? You don’t have to have one if it really grates against your sense of lore/realism/whatever.
Im pretty sure legendary weapons are the best, esp since theyre ridiculously hard to make. I hear some cheap Rare grade armor is available for karma at lvl 80.
All lvl 80 exotic grade armor has the same stats across the board as far as I know. What it really boils down to is what style you’d like.
You can check out most of the existing armor sets here. Lvl 80 Exotics come in 4 varieties. Crafted, Cultural, Order and Dungeon.
Weaponwise I guess the best would be Legendaries.
This seems hard to balance. NPC’s don’t have the ability to react as dynamically as we do as players. How do you program an NPC to build siege, man battlements, etcetcetc. I fear that to compensate for this lack of functionality, the NPC’s would be buffed up to unreasonable levels turning WvW into a gigantic AC. Plus if this is the case, I hate to draw the parallel but we’d essentially be fighting against a Bot Legion, relentlessly attacking 24/7.
I totally forgot about those lol. Well to be honest after awhile the hearts get kind of similar. I wont say theyre boring, but its typically variations of kill this, gather that and so on, there are exceptions ofcourse. Honestly I found the Norn area had slightly more interesting quests. If you’re bored of the human lands you’re not really going to appreciate Metrica Province (Charr) as its mostly filled with human shaped ghosts. The Norn area is a little more wild lifey. Theres some fun DE’s too involving big big monsters.
This seems like a perfect gold sink though. 300G is spent on a precursor, the item is taken off the market, and the gold disappears into thin air. But it probably does just get taken off.
Norn definitely, snow is a lot easier on the eyes compared to the endless expanse of gunmetal grey that is the Charr lands.
I think the problem is we level too fast for crafted gear to be of any sort of real value. If it lasted a little longer it might be worth a little more. It doesnt help that everyone and their grandmother can do crafting up till 200 without breaking a sweat.
I’d like it more if you could summon 4-5 of the same minion instead of this ragtag band of misfits we currently get. Also yes, their health is abysmal.
My mailbox would explode. I think an hourly reminder would be fine, like a quick message saying Money/Items ready for collection at BLTC!
Anyone find it slightly odd that “luchifer” is quickly supported by “Lucifer”?
Also to stay on topic. You don’t have to help everyone, but its better than helping no one. Besides, ArenaNet is American, common cause and whatnot.
I agree with everyone. The Listing fee discourages rampant price wars, but it also discourages sales. But look at it this way.
For example, you have 100 copper ore. You may think this is alot, and you list it at 22 copper a piece or whatever it goes for right now. Billy bad kitten comes along and undercuts you by 1 copper with a volume of 1000000.
Scenario A: You get buried forever due to endless undercutting, but consider this. If you’re getting buried that long, there’s obviously enough supply at a low price to keep the buyer population happy.
Scenario B: You get undercut by 1 copper, but volume sells out in an hour. Hooray, you’re now the cheapest listing and get sold.
Either way, constant relisting does seem like a bad thing long term. After all, there should be SOME stability in prices.
Consider the following. 10 rangers botting in a row, Elder Bears in tow.
I’m level 37 though? <.<
Im unsure if this is the right section to post in, but it’s worth a shot. Ive been playing through the story mode as a human with a friend, and I typically just enter their instance and take the optional story progression at the end of the mission. But at the end of a lvl 29-30 mission yesterday, I didn’t receive a letter informing me that Eir has gone insane in Ascalonian Catacombs while my friend did. Will this prevent me from progressing down my personal story?
Maybe they should just have the dragons launch a full scale invasion on Tyria, forcing the level 80’s to the front lines. *insert rant about neat drops and phat lewtz *
This has nothing to do with the current discussion, but I’d really like the option to just flat out turn off other players, sometimes.
Edit: For lag reasons and such.
I just googled the faction armors before I made my decision.
While I do not condone the virtual slaughter of whales for entertainment, I find this argument a little hard to swallow. A couple of whales wheezing on a beach is hardly the most brutal thing in the game. So killing bandits because they are “bad guys” is okay, but a whale dying of unfortunate natural circumstances is bad? Moral dilemma maybe? Maybe your kids should stop playing this game before the wolves, bears, birds and assorted menagerie of real-life creatures line up for slaughter in later zones. .
Underwater is bad enough, last thing I need is being divebombed from the skies.
Maybe if we all pool our karma together we can buy a new designer for the armor skins to make something that people actually like.
This.
Weapons are available for karma, I see no reason why it can’t be the same for armor, but I sense that you’re going to drag this discussion into some rather lowbrow name-calling and facile analogies, so I’ll leave it at that.
Scarce nature of money?
People are buying legendary precursors for upward of 300G, there’s certainly no shortage of money in the game.
Don’t mistake you being poor for everyone being poor.
You don’t need to spend real money on gems or spend hours grinding, just make a few good investments on the tradepost.
For example, the mad moon sheild was about 10 gold at the start of the Halloween event, now it’s about 25 gold.
If you had bought a coupel of those when they were cheap, you would have tonnes of gold now. Also, since they can’t be made any more, the prices are only likely to go up…
The flipside to that argument would be not to assume I have money just because you do. However, just for clarity, I’m currently lvl 38 and have saved up a little over 3g through a combination of mat flipping on TP and light farming. What I dislike is that given the rate of acquisition, the sets require me to spend nearly every last copper I have. And as to your suggestion about the Mad Moon, it’s a good one, but hindsight is 20-20, price could go either way, also you edited it down from 30g to 25g, maybe theyre not selling as well as you thought? Regardless, I didnt have the 5g to invest to begin with.
Pretty self explanatory, given the scarce nature of money as well as the surplus of karma, why not give players the option of spending their hard earned karma on some nice cultural armor?
There’s a patch? kitten there goes my bandwidth.
Can I second this with a violent and loud hell yeah? As a new player, and given the current state of our economy, gold is hard to come by. At level 35 (currently 37 yo), I had managed to amass the 2 gold and 88 silver required for the cultural set, plus some loose change, however I just couldnt bring myself to buy the cultural armor. How can I when gladiator (or barbarian, not sure) armor is available on the TP for as little as 80s for the set. Heck, could even have grinded crafting and made it myself.
Cultural armor sets are if anything else meant to show off some meager form of racial pride. The armor is designed specifically to look good on one and only one race. Why put it at an unreasonable pricepoint? Just makes nobody want to buy it.
As an elementalist this thread pleases me. Too often have I pressed tab only to find myself drawing in 3-4 adds from 50 feet away.
I got an exotic from Fort Cadence while getting the last page, but I think that had close to nothing to do with halloween.
You get ToT bags for repetition. 1 for Bronze, 10 for Silver and 20-25 for Gold.
CURSE YOUUUU ANTHONY ORDONNNN!!!!!
Just kidding xP
