Combo's are Underwhelming.

Currently skill combo’s will make little splashes or light arrows on fire as they pass through. They can make a fire shield around you, a chaos field, give stacks of might, cure conditions, and even heal everyone around them.

The problem is that they feel underwhelming. It does not feel like if I put down a combo field that if someone uses it they are helping in any way. I think the major problem is that you can’t see most of the effects that well.

Maybe instead of a fire shield that does damage when mobs attack you, you could have your weapon burst into flames for guaranteed extra damage for each hit. The effect should linger and make the person feel powerful because their weapon changed looking more powerful.

Also it would be nice if characters that summon creatures while in a field would enhance the summoned creature.

One other suggestion is if everyone in the party uses the combo field there should be an extra effect. Maybe if everyone uses the combo field an allied mob would be summoned to help the team sort of like the rock dogs can be summoned.

The point of combining abilities with other people is that they are supposed to do more damage than could otherwise be done alone. I want to feel like I did something amazing when I interacted with another player. Right now it just does not feel this way.

They should abandon the whole RNG part of SPvP altogether, remove the chest’s and the Mystic forge / crafting. They should put all the armor sets inside the Glory vendors of the appropriate level. Now people have something to work towards like unlocking all of each vendors armor.

Down the road they could have a Glory to Gems conversion so people could buy armor sets from the Gem store just by playing a ton of SPvP. This could finally include the SPvP community in the game, instead of making them feel like total outcast’s.

Remove all RNG from SPvP. Remove the RNG Chest’s from the Glory vendors and remove the Mystic Forge.

Add all available Armor / Weapon sets from the RNG Chest’s to the Glory vendors of the appropriate level. This gives people something to work towards that they can SEE. This would remove the need to have to go to a website to learn to craft an item for SPvP. It is something distracting people from doing SPvP matches.

This adds a progression to the game without having to change too much.

Also there should be more of a focus on new weapons and armor to put in the Gem Store.

With more of a focus on getting armor / weapon types in the gem store a new Glory for Gems conversion could be added. So that people can get the benefits of the Gem Store for playing SPvP which is currently not available to SPvP’ers. Also shutupandtakemymoney.jpg.

What do you guys think? I’ve been throwing this idea around for quite a while now and everyone I’ve talked to about it wanted me to post it here.

I think with having the rewards from the chest’s in front of you instead of hidden in a chest, it makes a progression (or at least something to work towards) out of the things they already have in the game. There’s also the “Collect them all” aspect as well which is already there with RNG Chest’s but I’m sure that people would rather put their glory towards a sure thing rather than something random.

Edit: It would also be nice to have weapon / armor skins which you can only unlock with glory. The skins should be able to be used on any weapon / armor. (PvP or PvE) They could be a status symbol to show your dedication to SPvP.

One thing that was brought up to why spvp is less likely to see unique armor and more likely to see a lot of weapons is because they have to create the art across several races and then 2 genders for reach race.

I think they need to hire people for their creation of armor and weapons department. People from PvE are practically screaming for more stuff to buy in the gem shop. We want to support them. The only thing they would need to add is a glory to gems conversion. So people in SPvP can enjoy the same benefits as the people in PvE do.

They need to add more exclusive armor sets to the Gem shop that are available to both PvE and SPvP. They also need to add gear that can only be unlocked via SPvP. Once its unlocked in SPvP it could then be available to wear anywhere in the game. That way it gives incentive to play SPvP for some really good armor unlocks.

The RNG chest’s you can get from glory should be removed and replaced with buyable armor sets already in the game. Then it would allow people to focus on saving up glory to buy the armor sets they like. That changes the game from, “Maybe I’ll get lucky and get this item” to more of a focused, “I can save up and get the item I want!”. It adds a progression and the ability to actually SEE what you are working towards instead of having to go to a website and look for an armor set you might like then work at crafting it. They should just remove the Mystic Forge and RNG Chest’s from SPvP.

Honestly guys, we aren’t gonna see much at all. Think about the scale of GW2 and compare it to SPvP. We’re just a drop in the bucket. If we weren’t then we’d be ESPORTS SON

I don’t think that everything has to come out right away, but the features are definitely coming out much slower for SPvP than they are for PvE.

Games don’t just come out and are instantly an Esport. It took League of Legends years to get everything just right. I’m hoping that GW2 does not take years to get Esports going but it takes time to create the necessary features.

I just got out of the State of the Game cast and all of the Essential features for SPvP seem so far out of reach. The worst part about it is that the team that was up there talking to us knows that the features are on their way but are not in the near future.

The problem with this is when the Anet was asked, “What can you give is that’s going to be in this patch?” The answer they gave us was… Balance changes and possibly Leader boards before or after the patch.

Both balance changes and Leader Boards are actually something that SPvP really needs which is pretty awesome.

The problem though is that if you ask what’s coming out for PvE you are going to get a huge list of all kinds of nice features and tweaks. It makes SPvP’ers feel as if they are getting the shaft.

So I was thinking maybe you could give us something to look at that shows how far along you are on certain features. Something like a live bar graph that people can look at to see how far along you are on each feature.

The benefit of a bar graph is that you can show us how far along you are with certain planned features without having to show us dates. You could even allow each one to be clicked on and show further details about the current state of whats going on with each project.

We are the players and we love stuff like this. Anything that makes us feel like are a part of what is going on.

Free tournaments should be setup with a solo and duo queue system. While Paid tournaments should be left for Custom built groups.

They should have a separate Ranking system for both Paid and Free tournaments. I think this type of separation would allow them to manage the ranking system easier with them being separate. It would also allow them to open the SPvP system so they could have all worlds participate together in tournaments.

I don’t see a point in having the SPvP being separated between worlds anyways. Why the heck would you want to split up your user base like that? Who cares if I’m the best on my server! I want to be the best between all servers!

Edit: If you leave in the middle of a match the person who left should not be able to get into a new game till the old ones over but should be able to get into the old game again.

Understandable, Farzo. GW1 had several expansions and many years to build up the lore it does. GW2 is not only using most of that same lore found in GW1, but has had relatively little time to flesh out it’s own story.

Problem with GW2’s story is that its pretty much, “How are we going to kill the dragons? How are we going to kill the dragons??! Oh Duhhh!! Really big airship. The end.” Its pretty bad. Also Treherne sucks.

The only infinitely repeatable achievement I can think of is Agent of Entropy that you get for salvaging stuff. Playing normally (ie. never going out of my way to salvage stuff), I’ve gotten 140 points out of 4224 total points. I salvage everything that vendors for less than 90c.

If all I lose is those 140 points, I’d be okay with it. However, I’m not sure that I’d qualify as someone who went crazy. It’s 2 points per 200 salvages. So, I’m at about 14,000 items salvaged.

Also, based on the screenshot and the value of dailies (9) and monthlies (35), it looks like you can get a nice amount of stuff each month with the 305 points you’d get for completing 30 dailies and the monthly.

Really looking forward to this.

Just want to quickly point out to get out ahead of it since those numbers are wildly off. You receive 1 crown per daily, and 10 per monthly. (We’re also still tweaking the costs of the items shown in the screen shot, and will continue to adjust them until until the system is released.)

Will we still get the mystic coins along with these new crowns? And will the current karma rewards be effected?

BTW I am loving the direction you are taking in rewarding open world exploration!.

You will still receive all the same rewards you currently get for your daily and monthly achievements, this will be an additional reward on top of it to make it more rewarding.

I’ve been religiously playing your game on a daily basis and have been getting the daily rewards almost every day. Will my past actions pay off? I love that I got my coins and sometimes other black lion items but is this one area where my persistence in the past pays off?

Also I have not missed a single monthly since release is that going to count as well?

Is this intended with the snowflakes?

People ask the question and get no response back and then suddenly people are getting banned?

What happened to, “The customer is King”? Would not the economy even itself out if you just fixed the broken code which you wrote that allowed for such an exploit?

You banned these people and bad spreads much faster than good does. You will loose a lot of people if you don’t treat people with a bit more respect. Its bad when you are the ones who released the faulty items in the first place then ban the people who take advantage of your mistake.

Its like a restaurant sometimes you have to give out free food to a customer to keep them. You keep the customer happy and you get the customers friends and family as customers as well.

Its like you served us food and because someone liked it a little too much and went back for refills too many times, you banned them.

I ported in did the jumping puzzle on the first try(no idea if this matters) and received no loot from the chest.

Changing the Overflow Message.

I love the fact that we have Overflow servers in this game. The one thing I don’t like is that there is a confirmation box telling me I am in the overflow.

The game should notify me that I’ve gone into an Overflow but I don’t think it should be a confirmation box. I suggest instead of a confirmation box that you do a “Help” style painted notification. It should auto clear after a minute but have an X you can click to remove it faster.

Reasons for changing it:

1: The Confirmation box is ugly. The whole game is beautiful but this ugly conformation box pop’s up and looks nothing like anything else in the game.
2: This pops up in the new jumping puzzle sometimes and caused me to miss a jump and go right off the edge. No more explanation needed on this one.
3: Its annoying. Having to click that ok box is extremely annoying every time you come back to LA.

Thats about it! I hope you like my suggestion.

There’s one thing that really needs attention. Tokens should not take up slots in our inventory. We should have a token / trophy storage. This annoys me to no end.

Thats why I stated that you should be getting more GEMS for doing SPvP. Gems are universal for all 3 game modes.

As far as getting your equipment from PvE to SPvP. I don’t think it matters that much specially if they actually do what needs to be done and split the game and make SPvP free to play like I said. If they make the SPvP part free it opens it up to everyone and will make it so that you can actually have good number of people for some great competition.

These are some of the features I think should be in SPvP to make it viable for competitive PvP / be able to pull in massive amounts of people.

I think that there should be a separate light weight Free client for SPvP. People who bought the game should see no difference and should be able to join games like they do now.

Right now to be honest a separate client would not work. There’s no way for Anet to make money from SPvP only players. To fix this problem I believe that they should roll out exclusive armor sets that can only be bought with gems for SPvP players. There should be more ways for people to earn gems in SPvP so that really dedicated people don’t have to pay for the armor sets with real money but they still need to spend a lot of time playing to be able to unlock the armor sets.

They could make it so that every game gives gems but make it so that you have to unlock other Professions for the Free to Play accounts. That would open up more options for Free to Play players to be able to buy access to all professions and a quick way for Anet to make some money from that too.

The separate light weight client would not have to be in the training map like in the current client but would be a bit like League of Legends client where setting up your armor, weapons and talents would all be in simple tabs.

Reasons for doing this is to make the client as light weight as possible. If people want to test their build or abilities on the dummies and AI there should be the ability to join the training area that is currently already in the game.

The benefits of being able to do all of the setup in a light weight client UI instead of inside the in game training area are pretty great. You would not have to have a huge client download which helps a lot of people who just want to PvP without all of the rest of the game to download which would make it a bit easier to setup in competitions. Also the GUI could be setup in a simplistic and not overwhelming way so you could play with builds, armor and weapons easily.

I think that more people would play the “Tournament” version of SPvP if they set up a system where you could join a Queue to fill holes in pre-made groups that is completely automated. This would make it so that people could play with friends who want to be on the same team while finding an extra person or two quickly.

I think that this would remove the apprehension of having to pay $60 for a PvP game there you don’t even know that you will like or not while opening the game up to massive amounts of people and money.

This is just something I’ve seen as trends in the current setup in other popular PVP games. LoL etc.

This is the same problem that we were having with Ranger pets being rez-able. It would also be nice to not have a huge red arrow pointing out, “HEY GUESS WHAT THIS IS THE REAL ONE!”

The tool tip says that it last’s 7 seconds. It only lasts around 5.5 seconds. (Could be server lag but based on the stopwatch on my phone it lasts around 5.5 seconds.)

Cool down timer was 45 seconds and is now 30 seconds.

I’m glad they did this it does not have damage like the Elementalist’s does so it makes sense that its cool down should be lower.

"Sell Your Stuff" Inventory not showing up.

Like the title says and the Attached jpg shows my “Sell Your Stuff” will sometimes never show up.

If I happen to click on the “Trading Post” Tab before I click on the “Sell on Trading Post” tab then the “Sell Your Stuff” Windows inventory will not load. If I click the “Sell on Trading Post” tab when I first press the O key the sell your stuff seems to usually work.

This makes it so that if I go to look up the price of something then later come back to try to sell something the “Sell on Trading Post” window will not show my inventory. I then have to restart the client and click on the “Sell on Trading Post” tab before I click on any of the other tabs.

As you can probably tell this is a very annoying issue I keep having and restarting the client takes a while for my PC.

Hopefully someone will see this and get this fixed.

Edit: When are we getting a scale for changing the size of the interface? As you can see If I go to use the Trading post I can’t see anything else but that.

I think they need to lower high level players damage in low level events. Instead of 1 shotting everything you 2-3 shot everything. I think the damage should be more on par with what players in the area’s damage is. Or heck lower! I’m down for a hard mode lower level area!

I don’t like that they took the lazy way out of fixing this instead of actually making it so that transmuting didn’t work inter-racially.

So we are punished by having to not only make our character naked now but we are forced to drag and click twice as much per item. Bad move.

I do not jest. Its quite annoying to make something that was simple harder to do when it should not be harder to do.

Also its a drag and a double click.

My real problem is that its not a “fix” its a patch on a wound where they should have actually fixed the wound.

That is extremely weird.

Mine worked the way Darkmind described, and it’s been the same for everyone else I’ve talked to – after the first time you use it a count down starts and you can use it as many times as you like until the countdown runs out, then it’s gone.

The only catch being if you’d used it within the last 5 minutes and so it was still in the world you couldn’t summon another one without going to a new zone.

I never tried using it in another zone. The banker would just reset after the 4 days were over and I could use it again. I figured that was a nice way of doing it and I didn’t mind because I could use it a couple days later.

Anet was cheap and only gave us a 4-day banker. What that means is when you first activated the item, it would work for 4 days (unlimited use), then expire to never be used again.

It never worked this way for me. It was disabled and I could not use it for 4 days and then after the timer was up I could use it again.

I have a problem with all of the Golem Bankers on my account. No one really explained how they were supposed to work to me so I’m just going to assume the way I’ve been using them previously is correct.

Previously I would use my Golem Banker and it would come out for 5 minutes and another Golem Banker would show up in my inventory with a 4 day timer. So 4 days later I would be able to use it again. I figured this is how the banker was supposed to work.

So today I was going to use a banker when I hovered over it and now have this message. “Time Expired” under Account Bound.

Is there a way to get my Golem Banker back? Do I have to delete it? Is my banker bugged?

Its the guilds responsibility to have an extra incentive for guild members like message boards, vent etc. to make people feel more like a group. If you aren’t doing that it might be an area that you need to look into further.

I suggest searching for a core group of people that you can get to know a bit then expand from there. In this core group look specifically for people who want to do what you want to do. Make them officers and have them recruit people with the same interest’s as your core. ? Profit.

In Guild Wars 1 there was an easy way to get max stat armor that didn’t look very fancy. The only thing you needed to do was get all your runes etc for the armor to make it the way you wanted it.

I was wondering if there was an option like this here in GW2?

I wanted to bump this because I get this all the time. In Lions Arch I literally move from the Mystic Forge over to the bank and none of the bankers are there. Its really bad.

I noticed that this started happening when they (mostly) fixed the sound not starting right away.

I purpose as change so that people can’t take out money but can still take out items from the stash or vice versa.

I don’t know why these were combined into one option. I really miss the nice set of options where you could govern each and every slot of a guild bank with a ton of options so you can make it set up to each and every rank in the guild from WoW.

It would also be nice to have your guild setup in more of a tree instead of a simple up and down ranking system.

The concept of what you guys at Anet are doing is simple. You are using 90’s technology on what is supposed to be an up to date game.

What are you missing? Cross server dungeon finding. This is essential. One of the things that people love about MMO’s is Dungeons. They are like a little pocket of story, fighting, puzzle and have been a part of all RPG’s going back all the way to pen and paper RPG’s. So RPGer’s have a pretty deep connection with dungeons.

You are making it hard to play dungeons by using an old dated technology that never worked well. It is why games made these dungeon finder tools. To bring this into perspective Its like we bought an autonomous car that you have to drive manually.

Sure we can make our status LFG but that does nothing to determine that skill of the person or the state of their gear. A LFG tool usually takes at least gear into consideration so that you get people together that have about the same gear level.

I noticed a problem when going back to play with a low level friend in PvE. Here’s what happened.

So a friend of mine level 33 is playing through his story and I Level 74 decide that I wanted to hangout with him and see whats up with his story. So on his next story step I join him. We play through the story and when we finish I realize that I didn’t get any experience money or loot except for the few mobs we killed.

After about 3-4 personal story quest’s and 2 waypoints later I realize that I’m not really getting any loot that can cover the charge of me teleporting around with my friend. So my friend and I got to talking about this and we decided to swap over to WvW do some PvE fighting over there instead. Within the first 5 kills I had enough money and loot to cover all of the waypoint charges from earlier.

Now I don’t like to complain but I was charged 1 silver 50 copper each time to teleport to the waypoint’s closest to my friend’s story’s. Why exactly did I have to go to a PvPvE zone to get money and loot I should have been able to get while I was with my friend doing his story?

I’ve been thinking a bit about this decided to go back and kill things in lower level areas and see what type of loot I get. It turns out that anywhere I went I tended to get area appropriate money gear and experience.

This confused me a bit because I thought from the videos I watched and the articles I read that the end game was supposed to be what I like to be doing. Well it just so happens one of the things I really like to do is explore and do Dynamic Events. I don’t understand why I’m not being rewarded appropriately for my level in these areas and events.

I really like solutions instead of just bringing up problems I try to come up with a solution when ever I find a problem that needs a solution.

So here’s what I was thinking.

Rewards are Experience, Money, and Loot.

Loot has 3 different types. Junk, Equipment and Crafting Materials.

The way you get each of these is by Killing mobs, Dynamic Events, and Personal Story-lines and Dungeons.

As far as Dynamic Events I think that in PvE they should follow the rules they currently have set up in WvW / Dungeons where everyone gets rewards based on their current level. The easy events should give a little bit of experience karma and gold sort of like how killing Dolyak’s in WvW gives a little bit of experience karma and gold. Then when it comes to the more dangerous events where you have a real chance of dying (Champion Bosses.) you should get better rewards sort of like how WvW dynamic events give you higher rewards for taking a tower or camp.

Of course there are exceptions and I think the really low level area’s around level 1-10 should have a lower frequency reward system but should still be worth doing.

I split up loot because I wanted to explain how I think they should be distributed. I’ve been using WvW / Dungeons as a model for a lot of this and this is where I split from the WvW / Dungeons model.

Right now each type of loot is set up a certain way. Junk is associated to the type of mob killed (Which is fine.), Equipment is associated to your area / area’s level, and the crafting materials are also set up for the area / area’s level.

The Proposed changes I have for the 3 loot types are as follows.

Junk sale price should scale like it does in WvW.

Equipment skin’s should be area specific. If it is area specific you could then decide to fight in the area where you want a certain skin of gear and know that you can eventually get it if you fight in that zone. Also Equipment should scale with level just like it does in WvW.

Crafting materials dropped from mobs should stay area specific unlike how they scale to level in WvW so that just like now you go to a certain area and get the materials you expect to get.

This in my opinion if distributed all across PvE, Personal Story, and Dungeons would actually make the promise of “Anything you want to do is the end game.” statement true.

SPvP is its own separate game but there’s some improvements I have in mind for that but that’s for another topic.
