I haven’t played GW2 in about ~6 months or so. The last time I logged in was about 2 months ago and everything seemed fine. Today I decided to log in to check out the new content, but it’s like my computer can’t handle it anymore. Before I used to get a steady 40-60 FPS everywhere… I now get 10-30 FPS. It absolutely plays like crap and I have no idea why. Zones with literally no one around will play at 15 FPS when before it would easily cap at 60. Is there something new that they added or what? Even changing the settings to the lowest doesn’t help at all. It also seems it’s not using my second GPU (won’t go any higher than 35% load or so). Please help!

What is truly awful is lv50. You’re just paper. Fine, you can hope to dodge fractals dealing triple time the same fractal to loot blue trash you can easily get with less stress at lv30. At maw, you have to use some cheats, or it’s just an instawipe. 30 res or 0 is the same. Just an other fail.
um, you realize that’s probably because they didn’t intend for you to get that high right now? you simply don’t have enough agony to continue, and you won’t have enough until they introduce more items.
99.99% of people are nowhere close to level 50
Number 2 is the worst problem IMO
The further you go, the more the builds become straight up cookie-cutter that favour pure defense and survivability over anything else.
At least in other MMO’s you had specific roles like tank or healer. With GW2 fractals, everyone needs to be running in what amounts to basically the same gear specs. Really, really lame.
It’s completely broken and getting it basically means you have to restart. Is there ANY good reason why ANet either hasn’t a.) fixed it or b.) at least disabled it until they do?
All these bugs are really starting to become frustrating
Two days ago it was the jumping, spent like 45 minutes in EB JB to realize that it was broken too.
Yesterday it was Cliffside fractal.
And now SE path 1 is STILL bugged even though it was apparently fixed.
I’m normally pretty tolerant of bugs and issues, but this is getting out of hand now. Three days in a row I’ve tried to do something only to be hit by ridiculous gamebreaking bugs which have basically wasted a total of 5 hours of my time now.
This is bad, ANet. Really, really bad.
(edited by Ebon.7641)
my group failed to make the daily because we kept falling in the uncategorized fractal
yeah I can’t even imagine how awful that is right now
Yeah this is completely broken. Just quit the EB JP in rage while I was in the darkroom. 100% impossible right now
I can’t even tell you what changed exactly, other than it’s slightly less responsive, but basically jumping has been completed botched in this patch.
No one can complete the EB JP right now, everyone is falling in places where they shouldn’t and haven’t before.
Something is very off here, and it needs to be fixed ASAP. Considering what a huge portion of the game includes jumping (especially the new fractals), this is a major problem. It is EXTREMELY frustrating
(edited by Ebon.7641)
And I just thought My keyboard was broken. Lol. Can’t progress within the EB puzzle. Looks lik the update broke more than it fixed.
yeah I just ragequit in the arena. basically impossible
was about to make the same thread, but I’m glad other people are reporting the same issue
SO, SO frustrating
trying to do the EB JP right now… oh my god is it painful. they seriously messed something up here
The Dredge Powersuit is easily one of the easiest bosses of all fractals, with the exception of the jellyfish.
Every time you fail, it’s your fault, every single bit of damage is totally avoidable.
The bombs have a max range, you can outrun the bombs the second you see him getting ready to throw them, and the ground-pound-agony ability can be dodged entirely.
The damage is absolutely not entirely avoidable at 20+
Sure, he’s easy before that, but once you hit 20 he is totally out of control.
He does this AOE ground stomp that lasts for 4 seconds, so you have to perfectly dodge it TWICE or you get ticks of agony. He uses it far too often, and it doesn’t matter where you are on the map you’re going to get hit by the agony.
The boss is fine <20, but above it he needs some serious tweaking. I have no idea why his ability happens so often or why it lasts so god kitten long (with 2 rounds of nearly unavoidable agony).
Poor gating mechanics at their finest.

Or, to make it even simpler? Life is meaningless because death is inevitable. Nothing I ever do can be enjoyed because at some point, well, jeez, it will stop existing, for one reason or another.
That’s the mentality of these refund supporters. It’s disgusting.
Sounds about right.
And I love how these people think they’re ENTITLED to a refund. I can’t tell you how many posts I’ve seen on various forums of people demanding refunds with hundreds of hours played. They literally can’t grasp the massive favour ANet is doing for them. Instead, they whine about how the forum mods are being unfair and rude by commenting in and locking their ‘return’ threads (no joke).
I believe it. The unfortunate part is that there are apologists for this kind of behavior who leverage the argument of, “Their refund doesn’t impact you, so why do you care so much?”
It’s a larger concept than an immediate return of money to someone who has, quite literally, already spent that money on hours of entertainment that they will now devalue artificially as an excuse to get it back.
It’s the fact that we, as a society, are actively encouraging this kind of entitlement by buckling under their demands.
Seriously. I’m not trying to sound hyperbolic or be all doom and gloom, but we are ENCOURAGING people to be self entitled jerks, and continue to float through life thinking that they are owed everything by everybody.
I don’t get it.
Yeah, I realize ANet was trying to do good here but frankly I think it was a mistake on their part. I don’t even want to know how much money they’ve lost because of these people.
Well, there’s nothing more stupid than deleting a 3-months work. Just for a few bucks.
That’s all.
I can guarantee half of them will regret it somewhere down the line.

There are several reason why the game feels empty.
1. There is a new dungeon.
2. There is a new set of end game gear that may only be aquired in the new dungeon.
3. The new dungeon gives the best loot per time spent in the game.
4. The loot gets better the higher you progress in the dungeon.
5. Whether true or not people feel they need the new loot to compete. What has been created here is a loot tier system. This divides the player base into levels. A level 6 fotm player will not want to go down in levels because the loot isn’t as good. A level 1 player cannot go up in levels because the system does not allow it. What you end up with is a lot of players running the dungeon, but they are all segmented into groups by time spent. As time wears on, you will find it harder and harder to find low tier groups.
This becomes a problem with older content. There is absolutly no reason to play older content as opposed to the new dungeon, because it is better in every regard. By adding carrots players percieve as necessary to the the new dungeon the others become much less desireable. This spills over to the world map. There were reasons to go out into the world before. People needed mats for armor, mats for food, items to sell for gold. etc…now it is easy to just run one dungeon and buy the things you need.
Unless you WvW on a high tier server, your rise to 80 will more than likely be a lonely one. I am on a server that always has queues for LA during primetime. I can run mid tier zones and never run into another player, while i’m out trying to level my guardian. I have to pass up the majority of events because I can’t solo them. Ask for help in map chat…crickets. This will continue until there is a reason to go back out into the world other than leveling.
You people honestly make me sick.
The OP was trying to express his enjoyment of the game (and was asking for some help), why do you need to come in here and spew the same tired old rhetoric we’ve been hearing for weeks? He wasn’t asking to hear about how bad the game is to you or hear you complain. Get a kitten grip.
Do you need a phone book to look up a medical professional to help you with that?
lol I didn’t mean to reply to you, deleted my comment
Dueling is not currently in development. Some of the other things mentioned, however, are.
Well it should be. We shouldn’t have to pay for and set up a custom arena and be forced to go to HOTM just to duel. What about the people who are mainly PVE players but enjoy dueling with their friends out in the world?
Kind of really disappointed to hear you’re not working on it.
I realize you have priorities to improve sPVP, but I hope you implement on-the-fly dueling sooner than later.
I’d believe it. As I said in my previous thread- go back and read the manifesto, then watch the interviews before the game’s release. Those developers loved this game and its fans, and they knew what we wanted. They were excited to give it us, HAPPY to create something unique. They specifically spoke out against this type of content on a regular basis.
Then what… 2 months in they have a change of heart and decide to throw their fan base under the bus? I highly doubt it.
You people think you are sad about this change? I’d bet VERY good money that your disappointment over this change doesn’t compare to how some of them feel…
Yeah, I can only imagine how they’re feeling about this right now. :\
Well I doubt it was intended, but it’s awesome that it worked out that way for you
OP: let me explain what happened to cause the “inflammatory posts” you so loathe.
Example 1: Anet promises to do X, but never to do Y. Anet lays down this promise in a very important document. To stress its importance, it calls it a “manifesto”.
Anet does Y.
Players want security. They bought the game, invested time in the game, because they wanted X, not Y.
Anet says nothing.
Players, with nuance, say to Anet: hey, what’s happening? What are you doing to the game.
Anet says nothing.
Players become anxious. They want an answer. With more vigor, they want to know what’s coming. Speaking for myself, I convinced an entire guild to come to this game, because of promise X.
Anet says nothing.
Players become desperate. What do they have to say to get an answer? They now become rude, because they are angry. They feel they have been lied to, because the decision to do Y is not reversed. Even worse: Anet STILL says nothing.
This is just one scenario that is happening right now. Another example promise upon promise upon promise to the ranger community that things would be fixed for their class. Instead, they get severe nerfs to their class due to the introduction of “bug fixes” which introduce more bugs, lowering their overall damage by about 15 to 20 percent.
You have to understand that silence, as well as repeated broken promises, lead to anger. And rightfully so. I followed many posts on this forum from its very introduction until now. I read very quickly, so I’m able to read a LOT. I could see the shift. Heck, I could feel it! The players are, in my opinion, in no way to blame for the turn-around on this forum that you detected. It was a gradual process which, at many different points, could have easily been stopped by Anet had it decided to answer the core questions of its playerbase.
It’s been like a week. Clearly something big is going on over there. Give them time to figure out what’s going on. It’s completely unreasonable to expect them to have some sort of miracle statement when YOU want it.
Fantastic post (not too fond of the title though). I especially agree with the last bullet point. I understand the frustration of some people, but their frustration tends to skew proper reasoning and judgement.
Its not only because of Bots that prices are going up. Everyone, his Girlfriend, his Dog and his Cat want ascended Items and they cost a lot of those Mats.
And yet ancient bones and sacs are like 2s each. They need to balance the tier 6 mat prices on the TP (by increasing drop rate, or reducing amount needed to craft, or something) because the way it is now basically forces you to spend 40g or more if you want one stat over another.
Since when do I have to pay more for one stat over another? Okay, maybe for crafted gear but it’s more forgivable given you only need 8-16 of the things. Not 250.
(edited by Ebon.7641)
Agreed. To be honest, the cost of some of the end game stuff is one of my biggest gripes about the game. 25s for a single powerful blood is ridiculous, especially when you need 250 of them to craft the new ascended items (and yet people who want the condition damage versions get to use ancient bones – no more than 2s each)
What I’m hating right now is that the further you get into FOTM, the more cookie-cutter your build [apparently] has to be. If you aren’t using a lot of toughness/vitality gear, people get pissed off. What happened to building how you want to? Why am I suddenly forced to use what other people perceive to be the best? I don’t have trouble with my squishy gear, I’ve learned to use dodge effectively. So why am I being forced to change how I build and play my character? This is not how I want to play, and this isn’t how I want to play GW2.
Why are 4 other people supposed to accept that you have several thousand less health than everyone else? Did you ever ask yourself that question?
Because I don’t get knocked down any more than them, and I probably do 2-3 more damage? Do groups suddenly not need competent DPS that can avoid damage by playing skillfully? Did you ever ask yourself that question?
There were squishy DPS with low health in other MMO’s, why the hell does everyone need some cookie cutter build in GW2? At this point the dynamic is no different. Squishy, more vulnerable, more damage. Still useful. Why force me into another build that a.) I don’t want to play and b.) I don’t feel like I really need? And it’s not like I don’t have any of either, I have about +200 vitality and toughness.
Why can’t some people accept that I’m a large portion of the groups DPS because of the way I’m geared, and that I’m going to be a little softer than they are? I’m not hindering the group in any way (up to fractals level 12), so what’s the big problem?
Ask them, it’s your group. I can see why people would be mad, considering glass cannon builds = one-shot deaths previously.
Well, I don’t get one shot. I don’t get downed that often, and have only been in level 12 because I don’t have an ascended item yet (the rest of them do). I absolutely need the ascended items, no doubt, but I am quite fine without full toughness gear.
There is absolutely no reason for them to get mad. The problem is that they’re hardcore elitists who believe in one way and one way only. If you’re not doing it their way, you’re doing it wrong and you should feel bad. And that is EXACTLY the kind of bullkitten attitude I was trying to avoid with GW2.
Furthermore, I did Arah daily with 6 green MF items in FULL power/prec/crit dmg build. I did not die on Lupicus, ever. Why? Because I’m a skilled player and I don’t need full toughness or vitality builds as a crutch to lean on. It’s amazing what a skilled squishy player can do in this game, and it pisses me off that the general consensus is that this kind of build sucks. It sucks because most players suck, end of story.

Interesting to watch the developing dynamic.
If you like the game you are apparently playing with blinders on and simply don’t understand.
While if you post consistent negativity, you are a shining light to clueless ANet devs who desperately need your input to make thier game successful.
The forums on every game out there shares this same mindset.
Its become so predictable, its downright hilarious.
Other predictable thing:
White-Knights that try to assert themselves as the voice of reason by making gross generalizations.
It’s a generalization, yes, and it doesn’t apply to everyone, but it’s so close to the reality of the situation on these forums here that it may as well be true.
I’ve heard this one before and many others like it before…
SWG NGE
AoC release
Warhammer release
SWTOR beta + release^ all games that are dead or on life support
Go ahead and try to marginalize the voices on your forum. Go ahead and even ignore them. It doesn’t change anything. This game is headed for the same fate as the ones above if they don’t clean up their act very quickly.
Every, Every MMO forums are heavily biased towards the negative. If you go by the forums for WoW, that game should have died by the end of 2004, and again in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008. 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012.
So one game that is a success vs several that are failures and you want me to think this game will be as resilient as WoW? Really?
This game has a FAR better core content and mechanics compared to the failed games.

lol, yep
Couldn’t agree more. I mean, this is common with all MMO’s but GW2 seems to have been hit pretty hard by endless, nonconstructive complaining all across the board.
Starting to feel this as well. The group I’ve been running with (level 13 fractals now) are pretty hardcore, but I’m not quite the same. I can’t really handle how long they want to run this stuff for, but I like playing with them so it’s sort of a weird situation. Don’t play with them and be left behind (I’m sure they’d do a few levels to catch up, but there’s a limit I suppose) or keep playing and feel like I’m not really doing what I want to. This sort of feeling is exactly what I wanted to leave behind in other MMO’s. :\
They better not have nerfed Plinx. Half the people in the game will quit.
They already are because of other stuff. This ship is sinking, fast.
lol are you for real? if anything the game is surging in popularity again with the new lost shores stuff
I’m kind of new to GW2 but I have made a set of MF gear and my normal gear I wear while fighting. Whenever I loot a boss mob I always swap out to the MF gear and make sure some MF food running. When I’m done looting I swap back to the normal gear. Takes about 15 – 30 seconds. The only difficult part is certain accessory items don’t easily swap over by double clicking them (I think the rings). So if MF is an important stat perhaps we could get a equipment swap button like we have for weapons.
Also if we could get clarification of when MF counts that would be great. For instance if MF counts on the death of the mob vs the looting of the mob what I’m doing could be potentially a waste of time.
They have clarified this. MF does not affect chests or anything other than loot from enemies. It works when an enemy is killed, not when it is looted (ie. you can’t kill stuff and then switch to MF gear and loot)
To everybody whining about the Magic Find “problem”.. would you seriously suggest that ArenaNet actually disables what Magic Find is supposed to do? You want them to change these new drops, that you have no clue what they are, so that they are unaffected by Magic Find? So instead of giving you a way to have a better chance of getting them, you’d honestly prefer to just have a lower chance? And then you wouldn’t whine about it never dropping? Come on, be real.
At least tell us EXACTLY which sub-bosses drop this stuff so we can switch out gear
Ugh why make it based on magic find… come on now. If you’re going to do that, it better be clear which sub-bosses drop this stuff so we don’t have to wear MF throughout the whole dungeon because we’re not sure.
…“you’ll be able to download half the game again.” Why, thank you. Exacttly what I was planning to do with my game time.
I can’t even believe you’re complaining about this
do you expect all the new stuff with this update to be small? what the hell do you expect them to do? never provide content updates because you can’t wait 10 minutes to download something?
holy kitten
Doesn’t look like I’m going to be able to DL this patch any time soon. Keep getting ’connection errors detected: retrying", or the speed goes down to 0.01 kb/s and I have to restart it.
anyone else having this issue?
Here I’ll say it for you then:
IT WILL BE FINE
^^^^What? Your eyes can’t see, you didn’t see the stats on the new gear. You did not understand the implications of the new gear on how it would become an exclusionary wall to game content for ppl who don’t have it?
They reason they are silent is because they want to see if they made a big mistake and are trying to access the situation. They are like bad swimmers trying to keep up with big brother crossing the lake and are becoming exhausted before the half way point.
Its simple, will they lose more if they do or if they don’t. IMO, they will lose far more if they do. Why? WOW is a better pve game, no debate there. Its probably a better pvp game atm IMO because scs are better that GW2s WVW. Why? Because in WOW you are not instagibbed by any class in pvp.
Behave accordingly and vote with your wallet.
Thanks for the tip, just bought 50$ in gems
So you are bummed because of 2 rings and a backpack?
Because that is all the ascended there will be in two days.
But it’s sooo much more to grind! I don’t want to have to keep playing the game and it’s new content! I just want to sit there with my exotic gear looking pretty. I worked hard for it and I refuse to work any more.
“We have no idea how this is going to work. Until we actually get our hands on it, this thread is purely hearsay.”
Hearsay from the developer’s mouths.
I’m sorry, where did a developer explain exactly how we’d acquire the ascended gear? There is absolutely no reason to assume that the way to acquire this new gear is going to be ANYTHING like LOTRO or WoW. That was my point.
Unless you know something I don’t, why assume the worst? Like I said, they may have something unique up their sleeve that sets this system apart from the others.
Yes, Anet has something very clever up their sleeves, and meanwhile the negativity builds, the community tears at each other, etc.
All part of their master plan? So they can sit back smuggly with steepled fingers, cackling as the community continues afterwards with “I told you so” or “See!”
Hint – the items will be drops. Either the item itself, or a crafting material for the infusions and backpack in the mystic forge. Do I know this for certain. No. Do I know if the sun will explode tomorrow, no, but it probably won’t. But its an MMO, given the unoriginality of this system, do you really think there’s some clever method of acquisition that Anet is keeping secret?
What I’m saying is that there may be ways to acquire it that won’t end up creating the same problems they did in LOTRO. I realize that they’re probably going to be drops but we know SO little about the dungeon and the new ascended system I don’t think you have the proper knowledge to assume anything about it with any degree of certainty.

Couldn’t agree more. I think ANet has a lot of work to do on their communication – this whole ascended gear thing just highlights it. I think they could have prevented a lot of PR damage by being more clear and explaining the system in depth in their first post they made about it. They tend to be very minimalistic when it comes to the information they give out and I think it ends up really hurting them. It feels like everything is coated in a thick layer of PR slime which sort of confounds the message they’re trying to get across.
(edited by Ebon.7641)
I bought this game because my friend told me it was good. I looked up the gameplay, I liked the combat system, so I bought it. As long as there’s combat, and things to do for combat. I’m fine.
I don’t know why more people can’t have this point of view.
If it’s still fun and you still enjoy it, why does it even matter?
You’re not going to just stop enjoying it if you did previously because of this. And if you do, you have some serious internal bias issues to work out.
I have that same feeling in multiplayer FPS games. I have no idea why, I just can’t do it lol.
No problem with other games though. League of Legends, PVP in MMO’s, etc
Even Blizzard removed content gating. It’s plain bad for the health of the game as it forces players to participate 24/7 or risk not being able to enjoy future content.
We have no idea how this is going to work. Until we actually get our hands on it, this thread is purely hearsay.
I’m more than confident in the assumption that ANet realizes that these systems were very similar, and I’m sure they have something unique up their sleeve that separates it from these previously failed systems.
Everyone does realize it’s only accessories and Back item’s that you can get this month? They are making it very slow, so you have time to get these items before they add more.
What if you aren’t interested in that content but want to do other things that still rely on PvE gear?
You use exotics?
You realize how easy dungeons are with exotics, right? And what other PVE content is there, exactly?
There is this little mini-game called WvW. You know, where you take the armor and weapons you’ve earned in other parts of the game. Oh, silly me, it’s such an insignificant part of the game…who cares about those people. Amiright?
I don’t consider WvW PVE content, but I realize how the gear carries over. I also realize that it’s a serious problem. I hope they have a solution. I don’t WvW but I understand how this could potentially seriously affect it

People would rather roll on the floor and scream than look at this from another perspective.
Hate to break it to you guys, but it’s been said by ANet in the past that there WILL be level cap increases.
""Q: What of the level cap? Have you guys decided whether you’re going to be increasing the level cap in future expansions?
Colin: Yeah. The level cap will be 80 on the initial release of the game, and we absolutely would increase it further into the game, probably through expansions is the most likely place we would do that."
This was from a while ago though, and the link is dead, so I don’t know how true it is now.
Good post, I was just thinking about this. Going to be a serious problem going forward with the new ascended gear
