For me the problem is the same, some say Spirit ranger are easy, or harder o the same as other clases, its not the main problem. The main problem of GW2 PVP is The Spam…
Spam DMG, Spam dodge, Spam Cleansen, SPAM !
A Spirit Ranger is an easy class, because you just pop everything and pasives do the job, its not as hard like…. necros? who just spam AOE dmg all over the place, or… Grande Engis, or evades thieves, or cleansen eles.
Discusing who is the easy class doesn’t matter.
It doesn’t matter when, or what you just see a red bar you spam all your abilitys, there is very little to nothing punishment for a player to do that. SO EVERYONE DOES IT.
In this game you fart and do damage. its sad.
Spirit Ranger are bad for the game, its a game type that brings nothing, at this moment that they are “OP” or 4 month ago that they suck, its the same, passive things just need to go, Spam thing should be punish, if Arenanet achieve that, you have a real game.
Tell me, if im wrong, but dont you enjoy a game if you chill or cripp a person thakittens going to you at a melee ranger and he have to decide what to do, i clean that or i just wait for other situation… Okey he dont clean the slow the range pop the DMG, the melee guy says “catch you”, pop defensive things, now the range guy is in troble.(this is a stupid ejample)
Giving condition for everyone in things that can be spam, HURTS the game.
I have 20 stacks of bleed, clean, i have 20 min of poison clean, i have 30 hours of burning im dead. :S

Pretty self explanatory, but I’ll break it down how I envision this working. Anybody that downloads HotM F2P would only get 2 or 3 character slots but would have complete access to ALL features currently enjoyed in HotM (and the new game modes I suggest below). Full use of the Gem Store would make HotM F2P a viable solution for ArenaNet and what makes this work. If you have one of these accounts you will also select a server but you will not be able to go through any portals nor be able to ‘Leave the Mists’. If you attempt to leave through the Lion’s Arch portal, WvW screen, or ‘Leave the Mists’, you will be given an option to purchase the full game for the retail price. Essentially, sPvP is free-to-play, PvE and WvW are not.
This idea is great, maybe little hard to implement, I don’t know.

I’m not going to say that is the last chance that they are going to have on the interview, but i stop playing (something that i never imagine when i bought this game), certainly is one of the last ones.
In 8 vs 8 you can farm ppl, that way there are more playing that format.
If arenanet, rewards better the kills/capp/etc in 5 vs 5 to compete with 8 vs 8 will be more ppl playing it.
I’m in, any form that resolves pugs vs premade has my vote.

In my humble opinion the best quick-fix for the whole problem would be to introduce single/duo queue free tournaments (or just single games) with a strong matchmaking mechanic.

Great post and this part is a great idea. Simple, quick solution while they iron out a good ladder system. This way, queues will still be somewhat quick since many many people queue solo or with 1 other friend, and you won’t have to get throat punched in Khylo anymore!

Arenanet need to fix this class, they have traits/utilitys/elites/weapons that are bad.
The only build that its okey its a shortbow/trap condition build, and necros do better than us, so… why you should bring a ranger to the group?

I stop playing Ranger for that reason… some traits are garbage, with ulititys useless, and only 1 main weapon (short bow).
Also with no change from part of Arenanet in the last patch, i just quit playing ranger….

For me Stability its a desperate intent to try to neutralize the billions of cc with short cd this game have.
And the fact that some of the clases have most of them (guardian) make a MUST in a TPVP group, like Yukishiro said.
And thats only a small problem with the balance………………….

I enjoy more wow pvp than gw2, Sadly. Not because of farm points for gear (i prefer gw2 in that), not because of balance (none of both has that, MOP jajjajaj nice balance), not because of skills system(i prefer gw2) i prefer gw2 in a lot of the aspects of pvp, but still i enjoy more wow. Why? i dont sure.

Yesterday a spec to a power/crit build just to check something on my ranger.
I was is the middle point of Forest of Niflhel, (the plataform) free casting to a warrior tank, i cant even damage him. I pop elite, nothing. :S
The warrior just stand there laughing…

I have duel elementalists, VERY good ones. They simply cant put enough dmg.
Fighting eles always are very longs fights (if they are good) or very fast (if they are bad), if the duel its long the dmg can easyly be countered by my heal.
The damage that they do its very predictible, sorry but i think they need buffs. (never played elementalist)

Im starting to notice that the ppl how exploit that bug are boys that think they are good at games.
Yesterday 2 thieves backstabbers whisper me insulting me, because they cant kill me with 2 buttons.
Seriously thieves need a huge change, not only the stealth bug. Players need to be good for killing something, not a class that do all for you…
Maybe a good thing would be to add health to the portal, that way it can be destroyed.

Hi Kjeldoran, im with you, i have a poor notebook than your pc, but in PVP i always run it ok with low settings.
With the last patch i cant play anymore, just a few of ppl throwing habilities and its turn imposible to play.
Its posible that the FPS problem come with the last patch like me?
First of all thief dont need armor or vitality since he can dodge non stop and turn invisible anytime he want.
Second this game give way too much crit chance rating
Third, thief base dammage is way to high considering the 2 points above.
Suggestion… lower crit chance in the game, remove or lower the 100% chance to crit when invisible from thief trait. Fix the invisibility lag bug.

Thieves:
- Dont need vit/tou , just invis/dodge
- High Base dmg
- All specs go atack/crit= massive dmg
- Crit rate in this game its like playing a thieve in gw2, to easy.
- Nearly imposible to kitte a good thieve.
- Invis bug.
They have it all.
Sadly, i think there is a lot of work that requires on balance and bugs. When we start to seen necros/rangers/eles with differents builds (for example) then i think we should start to thinking ranks and all things the game MUST have… but until the game works as intended i dont think we are going to see nothing like that, and thats “OK” i think?

I was a gw2 fan boy, now i have only frustration and disappoinment.
PVP should be AWESOME, the game have the base to accomplish that, but because of little things it’s makes you quit instead.
Im having a seriously drop of FPS since the last update.
I mostly play SPVP, i never had a problem (in PVP maps) with FPS, now i cant play…
In Heart of the Mist with a lot of ppl i have 40-50 FPS (very nice for me) dont understand :S

For my point of view you should have won that 1v1, 7k HP its a lot.
For my experience fighting mesmer as a ranger its a pain in the arsh, especially if its a illusionary build. IF I WON, and put him down i have to go away and heal me to take the mesmer out.
The illusions do to much dmg.
I try to take this problem of sPVP to the light some time ago.
All your ideas are very good, but it can be a little dificult to put it in practice, but im 100% with you, sPVP must change his score system for the health of good PVPers.
The score system MUST be a reflection of your contribution for winning, NOT for killing. The ideas you brought its a reflection of things that you" have to do" for a player, and thats okey, but the major issue its that the players arent playing FTW, so the answer its simple, when you win you doble the score (obviosly the score in general have to change), then with time you adjust the personal score system.
But that generate the problem of ppl going to servers with good players and leavers everywhere, well thats other problem, but basically the solution is to change the stupid bad design of the PVP Browser. Im not going to enter there, but i have some ideas.

Im playing Borderlands 2, but sometimes i come here to zerg in sPVP killing ppl farming score dont care if i win or lose style.
Im starting to have nightmares with clic-clic-clic, saw nothing, dead.
Sometimes its bugs and hit you 2 times while invis, frustrating as hell.
Like i said 3 weeks ago, the burst dmg in this game its stupid.
However, as aforementioned, the render bug for stealthers make this even more an issue for them. They do not only have the first strike but the 1-3 Hopefully it gets fixed
Yeh, today a thieve put me 2 backstabs in 1 rotation, but always they start with steal (trait to do dmg) theres nothing u can do….
i have 1.8k toughness, so maybe 4-5 per backstab and 2k for steal, you are pretty dead, the only thing that they have to do to finish you is spam the super original well design Heartseeker.
Im sure its a bug… im a Ranger trap build with the trait “Trapper’s Expertise” and i cant launch the traps inside the Clock Tower (Battle of Kyhlo)
I saw Ranger without the trait that can put the traps so i think its a launch problem.

I play a Ranger trap build because is the only build that haves utility thats are not a completely $%##
Lets see:
Guard: Your pet will aggressively protect the target area. WTF?? why should i need that? i mean… if that were in the control pet thing i might use it? but in a utility?
Protect Me: Instead of attacking, your pet will protect you by absorbing all damage you would take. Sounds good, does it? well not… your pet must be a bear to take the dmg, other way your pet will instatly die.
Search and Rescue: Your pet will seek out and revive a downed ally nearby. ……..
Sick ‘Em: Your pet runs faster and does more damage. Translate “More Damage” means hit for a couple more. very usefull -.-
Signets.. the passives are ok but when you active them… they do %#$$, i mean "Active: Your pet’s next attack deals more damage." come on…
Spirits: they are broken, to much buffs… they are OP. Seriously, WTF with these? they do something?
If you play a ranger y MUST play a trap build, otherwise you dont do anything.
Score in SPVP doesn’t mean anything…
The only thing that shows is that you were in a lot of battles killing ppl, and even more, if you do aoe dmg and someone kill it u recive 10p and 25p for a kill u didnt do, just because u do aoe dmg and do some dmg to that player your score goes up.
I know that because i play a ranger trap/dot class, and i do aoe dmg. Its happen a lot, i puts some traps but some bleeds, poisons… i can leave and watch my score pump up.
Thats why necros are a good score class, they have a lot of aoe dots, but that does not necessarily mean it is a balance class.
In other words, SPVP for me its just, play a few games kill some ppl and go and play another game. The score its just incentivate to zerg and kill ppl in a map that is balance for 5v5 played by 8v8 where the 16 players are only thinking how i got more kills than my partners instead of winning the game.
My point fo view and thats why im not playing it.
I have problems with only one mesmer build in particular… and thats the illusions builds, they do to much dmg i cant counter that… the only thing that the mesmer have to do is run/invi let the illusions do all the work for you…
Jest im total agreed with u, and i understand that synergy. but that only works in teams, not in pugs. My point of view is for the SPVP not Tournaments (i apologized if i wasnt clear).

U prefer that go zerg and killing anything thats moves with 100% dmg builds, no important if i win, im going to have a lot of points, is better?

I have to be clear with this, if a hight % of ppl are doing the same over and over, thats causes ppl to do the same it become a caos. if u enter a SPVP and saw Thieves every where with warriors just because the burst damage, u have to admite that something is wrong…
Im a Ranger, with near 2k toughness and i fight 3 v 1 and that 3 dosent have thieve/warrior… im goint to do a nice battle, why? because my build is semi-tanky, BUT if there 1 thieve in that 3s im dead, instantly. Nothing i can do about it.
(Im not saying i have to win a 3v1…)
Some ideas i have for SPVP:
- Reduces Burst Damage.
- Of result of that, increase the time u have to wait for rez, so the kill mean something.
- No score for killing.
- Of result of that, the score system have to change, u must have more score points for winning than for losing. If u zerg killing ppl and lose u dont have score so u dont do that… zerg problem resolved.
- Of result of that, the stupid design of the PVP Browser (i thought it was a temporaly design in the beta, never thought this would come to live), must change… Im thinking a queue system, and if u leave, u have a penalty so u dont go and search for a team that are free winning (this last thing should not happen if the queue system works)
Some Notes:
- The Score should be the reflection of someone who wants to win.
- That motivate ppl for playing for winning than for killing.
- That motivate diferent builds, not a dmg/burst build.
- That trains you for Tournaments.
Some Experiences:
- I have the luck of playing a match without thieves, guess what?… It was fun!
Next match… in my team i have 6 thieves vs 4 thieves… all normal again, i think?
All the same stupid builds… Heartseeker/Pistol Whip.
- I try a thieve, but a pistol/surv build, they are balance, they do a ton of dmg and they have a nice survivability with the stealth. the problem are those abilitys, and the burst in general.
