Invader armor soulbound to wrong char

in Account & Technical Support

Eddie Van Grog.7095

Dear Anet,
Tonight something terrible happened to me! I was trying to put to a good use all those badges of honor we have been receiving… I decided I wanted to buy a new armor set for my warrior (my main char) and took all my badges with my necro (a low lvl char that I was just “visiting”) to Eternal. After contemplating the skins, I decided to go for the invader armor for the warrior, as he was needing a facelift. I bought all the armor set, placed the armor set in the bank and, happily changed to my main alt to get his new armor on!
I was first surprised I couldn’t pick up the armor and then… Shocked! Shocked that the armor is soulbound to my necro! This is horrible and silly… I should have seen that the armor would be soulbound… but probably this should be more obvious! On top of all, what is the point of soulbinding and not only account binding? Soulbinding an heavy armor to a light armor wearer?
Anyway… Is there any way to revert this? That would be super! Otherwise, this has been the worst transaction in my GW2 history!
Please help….

Hint Completion achievement blocked

Hello,
I had my GW2 account since Beta times and I enjoy this game immensely!
Given the new added importance achievements gained these past days, I am contacting you with a strange problem that I can’t understand.

I have the Hint Completion achievement blocked at 98%. This is because one of the social items of the hint completion is not ticked. This is the “Your mailbox is full” item. This is very odd, as I have had my mailbox full PLENTY of times! So I really don’t get it…
Given its 10 achievement points, this is something that I would like to have solved.

Could you please help me solving this problem? That would be great.
Best wishes,
M.

This isn’t something we can address via the forums. Please contact Support by filing a ticket through the “Ask a Question” tab on that linked page.

Thank you for your answer Gayle!
Well, I have asked my guildies to fill my mailbox with spam… I started deleting all emails that were not sent by real people and, magically, it eventually worked!!! Yeah…

Thank you again,
M

Men… This is serious art! Well done, you did great and your work is nothing short of amazing! Being able to arrange most of the melody with such a limited instrument requires a mastery that you don’t see that often! You are a star… Thank you for such a creative and amazing job!

Why I'm never bothering with FotM again

Eddie Van Grog.7095

Just a quick post to share my opinions/experience!
I did 3 PUG runs in FotM. Obviously, these were low level runs and I guess you can imagine people are not very demanding at these levels. Nevertheless, it was never too difficult to find a group to join (15 minutes looking for it, at the most).
Two things people should consider:
1- As the levels are per character, people shouldn’t worry too much about people over-leveled. There will always be low level people running the dungeons. Otherwise, try doing it with guildies or friends (as suggested)
2- (And most important) The success of your party and your runs starts with YOU! Be positive, friendly, and communicate. The only time my group didn’t work out well was because NO ONE would reply (many non-english speakers I think) and I just left as there was no point! Besides that, my experience has always been quite good! I go in the chat, ask questions, tell people I don’t know this or that thing, help when I can help… Like this things go fairly well!

So that’s about it. Be a bit patient and, never forget… YOU are the first person responsible for making a party successful.

Good luck and have fun!

Playing more and more, with patches, added content, added gear, etc, etc… This game is so good I could practically live inside of it! It is fun and there are far too many things! Even if people keep complaining too much and enjoying too little… This game is GREAT!

What strikes me is how much effort people make not to have fun! The lengths people will go to, just to make sure they prevent themselves of enjoying something is beyond me!

Bottom line… This game is amazing and I play it more and more!

It is indeed amazing!
Not perfect, not even by a long stretch… Filled with bugs, problems, lag, etc…
But in the end of the day, it provides an amazing time and a great experience! And what is so obvious is that, the experience will just improve! Either by the fixing of problems/bugs, either by improving present concepts (PvP, dungeons, etc…), either by adding new content!

People sometimes forget that this game is around 3months old and already saw a huge amount of content added in. On top of all, besides the content that was added (which lots of people trash by saying it was not enough… I disagree, with new areas, nem maps, new dungeons, new puzzles, new crafting components, new upgrade components, etc, etc…)… The form the new content was added is unbelievable! Anet could have chose to add a new area and send you all an email saying “The consortium are a handful of pricks and they released the karka! Help us protecting our land… blah blah”! Instead, they create a whole story in which people got involved in making them commune with the evolving world!!!

Yes, because that is what Tyria and GW2 are… A virtual world that we are part of and that is constantly evolving! People get their eyes glued to a single detail and dig on it until there is nothing left but a rotting bone! Open your eyes and look at the big picture… It is not as gray and dark as so many are trying to paint it!

I think that this is great and I hope they implement a system that continues promoting team play…
These dungeons should be about TEAM PLAY! So it is great that there are no way points… Probably this was not intended, but think about it! Dungeons and PUG parties lack team play, strategy, tactics! If they would take a step further and promote coordination, discussion… how can that be bad? Today, I die in a dungeon, run back to way point! No single word I share (unless I am doing it with guildies)! That should NOT BE like this!

So… find more ways of encouraging people to coordinate (the swamp map is a good example! Everyone should have a role to play in the mechanics), to talk and to play with the notion they are just not someone in the middle of someone else and that, whatever happens, you will get there!

What will kill GW2 is, most likely, a negative, deconstructive, irrational, petty and tiring outcry of so many people!

Do you really want GW2 to succeed and do well, or you would love to see it fail? Very often I think most of the people posting in these threads belong to the second group of people!

If you want it to do well, be positive and constructive! That is the ONLY way to make things go further and develop. Try to be mature, try to give a meaningful contribution and try to enjoy! Don’t just try with all your guts to hate everything and then something more!

I LOVE this game. I don’t like everything about it, but I don’t like everything about most of everything in life! What do I do? I can choose to destroy, to corrupt, to undermine and implode… or I can do what I would think a decent human being would do… Try to contribute, look at things positively and make CONSTRUCTIVE comments!

Your comments are creating a catastrophic vision/reality of a game that is not perfect, but its really good and has enormous potential! GW2 could be much more, no doubt… But no one wants to give it time! Everyone starts running around shouting, like a crazy chicken… Most of the times, not really knowing why they shout! But if everyone around shouts… Why shouldn’t they?

So that’s it… What will kill my loved GW2 is most of you and your comments! And that is just sad…

ps: and all this hate, dark hanger, destructive rage for what? For a bloody computer game? Oh well…

I would still be very forgiving of the game’s shortcomings if ArenaNet hadn’t introduced the gear treadmill. And as long as gear treadmill remains, I will only want this game to fail in the most spectacular way.

Look, I also am not super excited about gear and stats improvement either… But I try to see the positive aspects of it!
1- No one is really certain how this “increase” is going to give a competitive advantage.
2- Including “infusions” or more upgrades for gears is great! Hell, when GW1 started we couldn’t add inscriptions to gear! Did the game change that much to break it when they introduced these? It did change… It made it better and more tactical and interesting
3- On the infusion and other upgrade business, this can also be seen as increasing diversity of content! Dealing with certain content will require you use different strategies! Similar to the Mursaat. No one really knows the plans of Anet on this! I am confident that they have realized by now that people don’t want gear progression.

Finally, if someone says “I want it to fail in the most spectacular way”, what can I say? I am sure that every argument we trade is going to be met with the irrational resolve of a fundamentalist!

We tried that in beta. We tried that post-launch.

Short version? It didn’t work.

And what if you think about it as an eternal beta? An ever changing experience of a virtual world? That is what happens in the world… Everything always changes! Most of the times we eat the ground and eat earth and what? We pull ourselves together and we try to make it better!

Look, GW2 has had already two world changing events! In three months… That is unbelievable! And if you guys would man up and contribute in rebuilding what is broken (good metaphorical comparison with the event coming soon, in which we will have to rebuild Lion’s Arch), maybe you would enjoy your game more and see how deep your contribution can go in it!

Tyria gets screwed… We stand up united and we help in reconstructing it. And like this, GW2 is not only Anet anymore, its ours!

Great idea, do not even faintly understand what is the OP complaining, to be honest! I think that giving some weight to the PvP side of the game is a VERY IMPORTANT matter for the game and its survival!

Dungeons: Make them soloable.

in Suggestions

Posted by: Eddie Van Grog.7095

Eddie Van Grog.7095

Instead of solo, Anet should develop better tools to find people to join you on dungeons! Either by finding groups or just filling spots randomly on teams of people doing the same dungeon (across all servers). Dungeons should be about team play and should reward that…
GW1 was never meant to be solo. It was the declining population that led Anet to introduce heroes and allow solo gameplay. Maybe when GW2 becomes older that would be justified, nowadays I think it defeats the purpose of the game.
This is not a solo game… Even though you can make lots of it on your own, certain areas should maintain the team cooperation aspect of it! You want to solo… Solo jumping puzzles that give you good drops. Not dungeons that are supposed to be hard and challenging and require teamplay! No… please, no!

I love GW2! I assume the OP does as well! We have been around this game for 6-7 years… Amazing years! In which I was proud of being part of a game like no other! In which I was playing a game of a company that delivered what they promised!
Today, GW2 still is an amazing game, still makes me feel amazed at any corner, doing pretty much any activity…

But today, things are changing! The Manifesto, the “it will be ready when it is ready”, the inspirational, motivating, exciting speech that we have heard about a new game that was being born, set on similar concepts that made our loved GW1 keep alive for such a long time… Today, all these words start to feel hollow! And loving this game as much as I do, I can’t help to sigh and say I feel that the project I once thought I was part of, has long left the house!

Here’s hoping that Anet will realize that setting their name, strengthening the confidence on a brand and cherishing their more devoted player base… that’s what kept GW alive! And this is what will keep them alive in a sustainable manner…

PvP should be an epic endgame and something to keep us entertained while waiting for new PvE content! WvW is, in principle, a fantastic concept… Just imagine being part of a great army, laying siege (or defending) your lands, your castles! Imagine if they improve that, by for instance creating mounts for cavalry, flying machines, more siege weapons, etc… I mean, you have to give it it has the potential to be the Thing!

For PvE endgame, dungeons, the never ending dungeon being added and further dungeons/areas that I am sure will arrive soon!

I am not worried… GW2 has a LOT still to offer! People do exaggerate a lot and some get tired but hey, such is life!

You get better by understanding gaming mechanics and working on builds and party formation! This is how you get better… The ONLY way to get better! If you bring a Ferrari and a Skoda to race on a straight line, you can be the best bloody pilot in the world, if I am driving the Ferrari I will still beat you! Am I better than you? No? Do some people (specially immature and unbalanced people) strive on this false sense of being better? Yes! Does that make them right? No…

Improve gameplay, increase number of skills, build composition, stats etc, etc… There is a WORLD of gameplay to play with! Increase content, everyone is happy with that! Do not increase the gap between players that have no life and players that play GW2 more casually! That defeats ALL the purpose of this game… As many said it already, there are TONS of other games out there for that!

PS: I am a GW fanboy and I will defend them! But I am not blind… And no one should be! If they want to listen to their costumers… Listen to them! Have mechanisms ingame to ask for people’s opinions on developing the game!

Dude, if you want to make a serious pool, make a serious pool!
Just make a pool with yes or no! why complicate with your passionate interpretion of things like “I am going to cry and leave”?
Just make a mature pool like this:
Do you agree with the ascended gear being introduced?
1- Yes
2- No
3- No opinion

And that is all. This is the only way you can make an unbiased and valuable pool.
Good luck with it

Periodic questionaries in order to evolve GW2

in Suggestions

Posted by: Eddie Van Grog.7095

Eddie Van Grog.7095

Maybe this has already been suggested, but well… Given I am slightly concerned with the way Guild Wars is evolving, I would just like to drop a line and give ANet a suggestion on how to improve the game, their relationship with the customers and the faithful user base that will keep their accountants happy.

Every month or so, send your costumers a link where people can vote on what should be developed further. To make sure everyone votes and not only the ones that are upset with a particular issue with the game, give a small amount of gems (or gold, or whatever) as a compensation. Hopefully like this you will have a large number of people voting and, most importantly, a good representation of every single player type.

Like this you can see what people really would like to see developed and/or improved. Be it PvP, PvE, content, gear, whatever… The consequence of this? You will make much more people happy, more people will be willing to keep supporting you guys financially and everyone would profit from this.

Why change things that the majority do not want/need? Example… Ascended items… I am almost sure that the majority do not want them in the way they have been designed and on the “problems” it opens. So why make it?

Another thing you can also have is a voting system for users suggestions. For example, a specific subforum with projects/ideas/suggestions for introducing into GW2 that gets voted (up or down) by GW2 users. The ones most voted are considered by Anet team to be developed and introduced in the game. The person that submited the idea, gets a prize in the form of a mini, or some item in game.

I mean, there are thousands of ways to strengthen GW2’s user community and make it more faithful to Guild Wars. Because I do like to think that this is OUR game and that we built it together! This is indeed, what makes (at least in my perspective) GW different from everything else. Please, make an effort to keep it this way…

Cheers,
A passionate Guild Wars fan

NO item progression! PERIOD!

If Anet thought that it was important to hear to the people complaining about lack of item progression… How it is going to cope with the rest of us, the old GW1 players and more faithful player base? Anet, do you really want to alienate all your more long time player? The players that supported you for the past 7 years or so? Do you want to forget those to favor the WoW and other MMOs’ players?
We want Guild Wars to be Guild Wars, not something else!!! Stop this nonsense…

Dear ANet,

I love GW2 (and I loved GW1)! I dedicated a big portion of my life to these games… Sometimes neglecting urgent matters on my “real life”. I have been a faithful “client”, got every possible game made by you (well, all GW1 games and expansions, GW2) and spent quite a lot of money on your Gems… Because I think you guys are special and are really interested in making something different.

I will keep playing GW2 for a while longer, but I have to admit that your increasing changes and deviations from what was first promised, start to be a bit “tiring” and disappointing. GW was and should always be, about skill! Not about grind and living for the game… I want to have fun with the game, not to live in it! This was what I paid for and what I support. I want to login one hour every other day and be able to play against everyone!

Unfortunately, we have watched to an increasing amount of people complaining about no endgame and how they wanted stronger stuff, to feel stronger and more special and be able to be the best in the world and beat everyone! Well… this is wrong! It is completely against all your ideology! At least the ideology I was led to believe you guys defended! I defend GW (and very often criticized WoW and the “sheep” playing it), but please do not make us all be sheep… I want a special game, a different game! I don’t care if some spoiled kids that love to be stronger than anyone else leave the game!

Please, be faithful to what you were… so that you can keep people that believed in you, faithful to OUR cause! Please!?

If you like the way WoW was… Well, you can always go back and play those kind of games! I find them profoundly unfair. I don’t have a lifetime to spend in front of a computer game and I think that I shouldn’t be discriminated because of that!
Bottom line… Skins and rarity should be the ONLY reason why they are so expensive! Period…

I read lots of threads and I wasn’t specifically mentioning the BLC issue. Which I also think was completely blown out of proportion… I spent quite a bit of money and got no rare skin! And? But this has been discussed to lengths elsewhere and I have no intention on doing that here.

Anyway… I am a quite casual player (I just made it to Lvl60 and I had the game since the beginning) and I think this event is SUPER fun! It is an extra to what was already giving me so much fun. People assume they are entitled to get things out of it… I also assume a lot! But I only assume that I want to be surprised and have some funny moments! Which I DO… Since day one! And NON-STOP!

Bottom line… I will keep posting positive happy threads saying “I love everything about this game” “I love the colour of the grass in the human’s starting area” “I love how the water flows in rivers” “I love how the whales look in the open sea” and other threads such as that! Useful like the threads “I am bored of the way the the hay dances to the wind” “I am bored of how swords look pointy” and such other pearls of wisdom and fine examples of positive constructive remarks.

Given the surplus of negative threads flying left and right, I thought I would balance this negativity out a bit, by just making a positive thread!

Don’t want to add it much substance, but to say that I love GW2 as much (actually more) as I did day 1. I have been happily spending money on Gems and using them for whatever reasons (keys, upgrades to accounts and characters) and will continue to do so, because I think Anet deserves and I know they will put the money to good use.

Obviously they have turned more profit orientated, but how do people expect Anet to survive against giants like Bioware, Blizzard, etc? It’s time to stop being hypocritical and realize that their goals are: 1- Make profit; 2- Give players a great experience. And that’s about it…

People keep complaining about content, bugs, whatever blah blah blah… It is fine, we are all entitled to opinions and if we expose them in a constructive way they are super useful! But the truth is, this game is great, halloween is super fun… It all looks like a surreal circus! Even the zerging around doors is funny… Not to mention the quests looking for info on the Mad King and all the little details spread around Tyria.
In any case, whatever you might or might not fancy, this is not what defines the game though, and it seems people are reducing GW2 to the Mad King Returns.

And while this thread doesn’t add anything, neither the majority of the threads complaining. Saying “I hate this and I am going in the corner and not look back at you”… really, does not help in ANY WAY! I swear, I saw threads complaining about the most surreal things… I love the ones saying “I am bored of GW2”… Who cares? Don’t play! I am bored of my car! Do I go and blame the company that produced it? No… I blame on humanity and the fact that we do get bored of things! Blame it in the Human brain and life itself… And then I take the bus or cycle to work! It is that simple…

There is so much negativity that I can only think the world gone crazy! It’s like no one can see any positive thing anywhere! Dudes… Life is too short! So just enjoy it! And if you want to make it more enjoyable, then do something positive and constructive about it! Random rants will take you nowhere and will prove that life will just be what you are putting your effort in… a huge pile of crap!

Anyway… Long story short, I love GW2 to bits, I love the Halloween Event, I love the Gem Store and I pretty much love everything else that ANet has done and put into the game.

A mature, happy, positive human being and GW2 player,
M.
