Hall of Monuments Broked't?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Eerekai.9438

Eerekai.9438

Ello!

I’ll be pleased to announce that I am debating purchasing the entire GW1 set so I can hammer out the Hall of Monuments stuff and finally give my characters creepy masquerade / porcelain-clown masks.

That being said, the masses are telling me that Hall of Monuments is broked’t at the moment. Is this true? And if so, can we have the voice of Arena Net ring in and possibly give an ETA? Or if this lack of functionality is permanent or temporary?

PS: My motivation to buy and play GW1 is completely and utterly associated to the Hall of Monuments for GW2. If it isn’t ever going to work, then I don’t want to waste my money.

So periodically I’ll be playing and a white box with a black capital A will appear in the far left of the typing field of chat. It’s right of the channel/character name (if you’re whispering someone) and left of anything you’re typing. I’d love to take a screenshot of this, buy it only appears while you’re clicked inside the typing field to type, which makes the screen-shot button not work.

Any ideas wtf this is? I’m not seeing anything on the wiki for it under chat and googling it isn’t helping.

Ello there!

I’m on Tarnished Coast and I’m looking for a guild that does dungeon runs where nothing is skipped and everything is murdered. (Okay, not necessarily everything. We don’t need to back-track to through other paths n’ whatnot. But if it’s in our way, it needs to die.)

If this is something your guild does and you’re looking for new members, please let me know.

Ello there!

I have a small guild with a group of friends that’s mainly just a channel/bank/emblem we can all share. I’ve been wanting to do some Bounty Training missions but know far too well that we don’t have the numbers to make it happen. I’m wondering if there are any guilds that’d be willing to lend us aid. If so, please contact me (reply here, PM me in game, or send me a mail message) with your server and the best time to reach you.

Note: I ask for the server because with how guesting mechanics work, its far easier for me to come to you for assistance, than for an entire guild (or chunk of a guild) to come to me. My home server’s iteration of the guild still gets credit, so it all works out.

Reply here, send me a PM via the forums, or mail message me in game with the details. I’d very much appreciate it.

Well if people “mob” your character and surround you, interrupting you or hindering your gameplay after you’ve asked them to stop, then it’d be considered harassment. Which is also reportable.

The block system on the other hand exists, or at least I feel it exists, because not everything that bothers an individual is a direct assault and calls for a report
or
because the time between a report ticket being filed and the ticket being assessed takes time.

Either way, it exists so that an individual can help curb the social side of the game more to their liking and enjoyability. And since its a game, I think enjoyment is pretty high up on the priority list lol

Lets face it. Its a big game. There’s lots of people. Gold spammers, bots, and your random jerk aside, not everyone will get along. I should be able to actually ignore anyone I want.

“But you can!” cry the people.

Nope. If you’re in a guild and you happen to just clash with a member or two, and you’d rather stay with the guild than leave because of one or two people in comparison with the rest of the guild? Welp, putting em on ignore does nothing. You still see their messages.

And lets say your chat box is being flooded with emotes. Or maybe someone is actually aiming to harass you. The ignore feature doesn’t block any emote produced with “/e”. And since “/e” is a custom emote, someone can actually further harass you than just flooding your chat box.

Working as intended or Working as designed…
Lets get this working more efficiently.

Ello there!

My “Stats”
Who I am: Some guy…(what were you expecting?)
Current World: Ehmry Bay

What I’m Lookin’ For

  • I’m looking for a guild that does full dungeon runs (no skipping fights) and frowns upon taking advantage of the various dungeon-running exploits that have become so common as of late.
  • Sort of a side note, but I’m usually listening to music, so I don’t want to have to download a voice program or be required/expected to be in voice chat.

Even with the LFG website, the rise in “Speed Runs” and unchecked-exploits in dungeons is making it harder for me to actually enjoy running them. Harder, but not impossible. I am yet hopeful and thus, I’m posting here. If you think you belong to a guild that can help me with this little issue, I’ll be glad to hear from you. Leave your contact info, PM me on here, whisper me in-game, and/or shoot me a mail message.

Also, the changes made to the daily system were supposed to make it more accessible and doable. I like the changes. They’re interesting. What you’re suggesting would actually make the daily take longer for altoholics, longer than its ever been. Having to switch to every single character, do the EXACT SAME DAILY CRAP, just so they aren’t missing out…

Altoholics would be happy and those with just one toon wouldnt notice a differance.

I would not be happy. Not at all.

While I’d love the mini pet slot (with no additional upgrades or functionality, just a pure cosmetic item), the quoted text above points out an issue that really needs to be addressed for minis. My little golem gets left in the dust right now…

Bag(s) of Wonderous Goods

in Suggestions

Posted by: Eerekai.9438

Eerekai.9438

I…I can’t respond to this without coming off as a “troll” or jerk.

On one hand, yes, it would be nice if the dungeon-bag was stackable. Saying they have different loot tables is a moot point. I’ve never gotten the wrong dungeon tokens from a bag, so they already have the right item ID. Making them stack is an option.

On the other hand, no. Things that can be stacked are intended to be collected and/or hoarded for:

  • Standard crafting
  • Mystic Forge crafting
  • A more beneficial use at a later date (like using a consumable buff first)
  • Selling (to NPCs or on the Trade-Post).

Crafting materials, unidentified dyes, karma consumables, junk, WvW siege weapons, and the random bags that contain crafting materials (like Heavy Moldy Bags) all fit into one of the above categories. The “Bag of Wondrous Goods” picked up in dungeons does not fit into one of the above categories and therefore there isn’t really a reason to stack it, unless you’re really trying to save the 1 to 2 slots that karma consumables and tokens take up.

With all that being said, I can’t see them (ArenaNet) changing the trend as there really isn’t a sound reason to not open a Bag of Wondrous Goods. If the 1-2 inventory slots are that important, get a bigger bag. Each upgrade literally has at least 2 more slots than its predecessor. But, for whats its worth, good luck with getting the dungeon bags changed to a stackable item.

why does everyone hate trahearne?

in Lore

Posted by: Eerekai.9438

Eerekai.9438

I can say that I don’t hate Trahearne. I’ll also admit the the Sylvari are my favorite playable race, with humans being my least favorite. Trahearne’s voice, appearance, and actions…nope, I can’t see anything wrong. He is a figure-head. This is what it seems most people don’t like.

I’ve played through 2 of the different order story lines and it seems that the higher ups do not dislike the other orders. Now their underlings are trained in a specific manner and geared to think that anything OTHER than what they’re doing is rubbish. It’s a semi-brainwashing thing to form a sense of brotherhood. So while the leaders of each order might think the Pact is a good idea, they have to feign displeasure so as to keep their respective “troops” in line. And the Pact needs leader that is completely neutral, once again so as not to make waves, so they pick Trahearne.

And why Trahearne? Why the entire set-up? Well the most surface-level reason is that Trahearne is a neutral party. While some say he’s respected among the Sylvari, I think its more his rank that’s respected (First Born), as Caithe seemed a bit put-off by him. So he’s a nobody that the player & the three orders trust…but he’s not a leader. Not in the slightest. And the player & the three orders know this.

  • So he’s advised almost at all times and “his” plans never fail. This is important because if he falters, people lose hope. It might even cause a mutiny.
  • He openly states that he’s a scholar. This is also important because his desire to avoid battle never puts him in harms way and, once again, reduces the chances for him to falter.
  • He’s Sylvari. While the other 4 races have seen corruption take their friends and family on every front, the Sylvari are immune.

There’s a war going on against a monstrous foe. A foe that has corrupted or destroyed homes, civilizations, and even “gods”. The entire situation is dire. Trahearne steps in as an infallible figure head, political puppet, and artificial god. The leaders of each order show trust and respect, and this trickles down the ranks. As cliche as it is, no, he isn’t the hero everyone wants. He isn’t even a hero. He’s simply the person that was needed. And in that, I like Trahearne. He gets a grasp on his pathetic role and plays his part.

Kodan Profession Trainers

in Lore

Posted by: Eerekai.9438

Eerekai.9438

So I was running around as my Engineer, going through Snowden Drifts, and came across the Song of Final Exile. Its a Kodan/Norn camp in the south central area of the map. I’ve always loved stopping to check Kodan names, then I saw that it has profession trainers…

Elementalist: Churning Earth
Ranger: Pattern of All Things
Engineer: Enduring Unifier
Warrior: Conclusive Action
Guardian: Shield of All
Necromancer: Final Stillness
Thief: Nanashi – appears to be the only Human in the camp. Not sure how the Kodan would view a Thief.
Mesmer: Odile – a Norn Mesmer. Chaos-magic users seem to be the antithesis to the Kodan belief system. While I can argue that a disruptions in balance can be mended with proper chaos, the Kodan may feel that the risks outweigh the rewards. Either way, I love that there isn’t a Kodan Mesmer lol

Are there other Kodan Profession Trainers? Reasons as to why there isn’t a Kodan Thief? Have any random thoughts to add? Bacon?

9th playable profession, your pick?

in Lore

Posted by: Eerekai.9438

Eerekai.9438

I’ve never touched GW1, so I have no idea if what I’m about to say is already in line with something else.

As I see it, there’s this light/nature/order or just “purity”, darkness or “befoulment”, balance trend going on.

Scholars: Elementalist (purity), Necromancer (befoulment), Mesmer (balance: I could go on and on about how you can’t have chaos without a basis of balance, but instead, I’ll give this: The Confusion condition hurts someone whenever they attack you or heal themselves ~ thus not tipping the scale, but keeping the equilibrium)

Adventurer: Ranger (purity), Thief (befoulment), Engineer (balance: So I’m actually undecided if Thief is balance and Engineer is befoulment or vice versa. I think they could be argued in either light.)

Soldier: Guardian (purity), Warrior (balance), and…

Tainted? Marked? I’m not usually a fan of the anime-esque “guy corrupted by a demon”, but I think it’d be an interesting mechanic. We have dragon corruption. If anyone would even consider a way of playing with corruption, it’d be the Asura. The idea would be they did numerous experiments and figured out a way to mix magic, science, and training for someone to stabilize a corruption. The class would be a mix of a berserker/spellsword ~ becoming a bigger pain as more crap happens to em, and able to imbue their weapons. Instead of transferring conditions, they’d literally become more destructive while under the effects of a condition, while still suffering the full effects. The heavy armor is only because they entire idea becomes worse than a glass cannon if given light armor.

Now onto the other side of the coin ~ such precautions at keeping the individual an individual, and not a minion of the Elder Dragons would mean it’d take more corruption than usual to fully corrupt the person. Bigger, more destructive enemies that have been pushed over the edge. A new profession, a new threat that could possibly be something for the entire Pact to focus on, a new dungeon…its like a package deal with a ton of possibilities.

is Farming CoE for Charged Lodestones viable?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Eerekai.9438

The cores and lodestones are only obtained from the chests in CoE, since the enemies are varied and not associated to air. That being said, each path has roughly 3 or 4 chests which have a CHANCE of dropping a core and an even lower chance at a lodestone.

Farming CoE should supplement your standard farming, but not replace it.

Feedback and personal opinions

  • Alliance/Raid UI: Can’t really weigh in here. Never been a fan of raids. While I realize a large number of the dynamic events are already basically raids (in that they require a lot of people), communication via map chat ensures that ANYONE on the map can participate and jump in. Communication kept strictly within a raid channel might hinder the experience.
  • In-game LFG: Yes. I’m of the firm belief that any time the player base has to make something to make the standard game run smoother, the company is failing somewhere. But there is a difference between tools that should be in-game and tools that the company should never give to the player. A group organizing tool is part of the former.
  • Currency Tab: Ehh…between every account owner being able to make a guild and simple inventory management, I can’t support this.
  • Forums: This would be interesting, but I’m no entirely sure if its necessary.
  • Precursors: Part of me says sure, this is obvious. The other part of me says, if there’s a definite way to get a precursor, removing the trial and error, I want it done to Every. Single. Item. Why make it easier to get a Legendary when there’s just as much chance involved in getting some of the more obscure exotics?
  • Inspecting Players: No. I will never support this. Gear-checking and the elitist picky bull it produces and allows outweighs any good that can come from it. If you want to know what someone is wearing, ask them. If you can’t be bothered to ask, then it wasn’t that important.
  • Player Search: If LFG is implemented, not sure how this is necessary.
  • Gear Sets: I have no idea how much I’d use it, but I can see it being useful.
  • TP Linking: Another no-brainer that would be awesome. “Hey man, you think I should by THIS or THIS”
  • Traits: More weird no brainers that I’m not sure why they aren’t there _
  • Guesting: Because of the intended reason guesting exists, I can’t support this idea.
  • Open World PvP: See…I could see a guesting-exclusive PvP server. It’d make it so the open world PvP exists and people can’t be trolled without knowing what they’re walking into. It also doesn’t add new content to a generally PvE environment (a sudden wilderness map) with rewards where your main enemy is everyone else in the game. It goes against the entire unity idea the game aims for. A giant free-for-all PvP map accessed through The Mists might also work.

I have to agree with Zeefa on the entire Kodan thing. The wiki states that they resemble polar bears. It puts a limitation on character fur color. A huge limitation. Though, watching the Kodan fight and using the tonic from Honor of the Waves to turn into a Kodan and dance…its safe to say that the Kodan have the same animations as a Norn. So while animations are covered, and there’s already a start at cultural gear, character appearances are hindered.

Now if we’re being honest, my priority list is sorta like this…

  1. The top of my list is tied with Tengu and Hylek. I think they both have a lot to offer in terms of new animation styles and clothing/armor appearances. I’d also love to dig deeper into their lore.
  2. Next is Quaggan. I loathe the Quaggan with a passion. When the backpacks came out, I immediately bought one. Why? It gives me the joy of knowing there’s a Quaggan (or something that resembles a Quaggan) strapped to my back, kicking and squirming, trying to get back to its family. So why make them playable? You’d see me in WvW a lot more. Doing “hunting” runs ^~
  3. Centaur and Ogres would be tied here. While the centaur facial structure can vary to provide different customization options, their bodies allow for some interesting lower-armor decisions to be made by the art team. Now the Ogres on the other-hand would need to be developed more. Their males and females have very few physical differences, much like the Asura, but more facial options would need to be created. Not to mention, I’d also love to see Centaur and Ogre lore explored more.
  4. Everything else. This includes but is not limited to Krait, Skritt, Jotun, Kodan, Harpies, Grawl, Ettins, Dwarves, Dredge, and Largos.

That’s just my personal list and preferences.

So I have to admit I’m a little confused. The item “Chunk of Crab Meat” can be obtained from numerous sources around Tyria, but its a junk item not a food ingredient. I’ve seen crab legs/claws cooked in various styles (salt mixtures, beer, wine, etc.) then just shelled and eaten. I’ve seen crab used in pasta dishes. There’s crab-salad. Crab cakes. Different soups contain crab. I’ve even seen crab quesadillas on a menu before.

Umm, isn’t the 25 fine T-stones discounted? (You have both 640 as new and original price)

anyone happen to know if there is a way to buy stuff in the BLTC without being in game?

LOL…doh >_>
Fixed

@skullmount it was 800 before.
I bought 25 “recently”, but it was atleast three weeks ago by now I think, so I got my money’s worth for the time I guess.
But kitten yeah, I’m considering buying again just for stock… It’s something you can always end up using.

I’ve been running dungeons and farming since they announced the month of sales…just so I could take advantage of the Fine Transmutes going on sale. Bought 75 of the lil buggers. Some would say that’s too much, but I won’t have to worry about not having enough for quite awhile xD

Ello there!

One of the items I’ve been waiting for is finally on sale: Fine Transmutation Stones!!! (Basic Transmutation Stones are also on sale) Considering I literally just messaged everyone that’s online in my friends/followers list and told them, I might as well put it here too.

Fine Transmutation Stones

  • 5 for 160 gems (Original price 200 gems)
  • 10 for 288 gems (Original price 360 gems)
  • 25 for 640 gems (Original price 800 gems)

Basic Transmutation Stones

  • 5 for 75 gems (Original price 125 gems)
  • 10 for 135 gems (Original price 225 gems)
  • 25 for 300 gems (Original price 500 gems)

“Just in case…” Info
Basic Transmutation Stones can be used on any armor piece, weapon, or back piece that is level 0 to level 79. (Low level gear can drop without a level prerequisite, making it “level 0” gear. Starting gear is also considered “level 0”)

Fine Transmutation Stones can be used on any armor piece, weapon, or back piece. Including level 80.

Welp, now ya know!

PvP Worn Scale armor (2) PvE Equivalent?

in Players Helping Players

Haha, well that’s an easy one. :P It’s just “Worn Scale Pauldron”, with your choice of prefix. Usually green quality.

That would be the PvP Worn Scale Armor (1) set, which is the Worn Scale set in PvE. The PvE Worn Scale set does have visual damage, while the set I’m looking for doesn’t.

Ello there!

I’m looking for the PvE equivalent of “PvP Worn Scale armor (2)” as displayed on the wiki.

Specifically, I’m looking for the shoulder pad. While it says “Worn” in the name, the armor actually has no wear & tear.
