So I haven’t done this puzzle in probably about five months or so. I used to be really good at doing the jumping puzzle. I needed to do the diving goggles and decided to do it today. When I did I stepped onto the first forward launcher and it launched me past the platform every single time I did it. I even set my character at the back of the launcher and it launched me off the other platform in the same spot. When I talked to people in the jumping puzzle they informed me that the launchers had been changed a few months ago. I wanted to bring it up here in case it’s a bug that wasn’t known about or had been missed. with the launchers how they are currently makes it very difficult to finish the puzzle and even worse to get to the goggles. please put the launchers back to the way they were originally. I’m not quite sure why they would have been changed this way. It just makes an already difficult Jumping Puzzle even worse. especially since the launchers launch you into the same area over and over again which is always past the mark, before you could adjust for it but now you can’t and the only way to get past it is to glide in the first part. The launchers that are two in a row before the upward launchers to go to the goggles are impossible to do seeing as they are an extremely small platform and being auto launched past them with no glider to compensate or to be able to adjust your trajectory by going further back on the launcher. please if we could get these change back it would be very helpful.

Obviously I don’t have the numbers, but isn’t the raid vendor as big, if not bigger, source of new ascended gear than PvP or fractal vendors?

Makes you wonder why they limit this change to just those vendors.

I agree with you Blaeys, they have locked cheap ascended gear behind a wall that most of the community cannot play because of the people that raid. Ascended gear usually needs to be pinged if you join as a pug and if these choices from sPvP and Fractals are changed it means everyone that doesn’t want to craft is locked from a game mode.

My ranger is whispers lol. so pick whichever one you think you would like the best. I have done all three arcs and personally prefer the whispers arc. But go with whichever one you think fits your character’s personality more or what arc you prefer to play through.

I would understand if they were increasing the amount of shards needed to buy the ascended pieces of armor in sPvP and adjusting the price to the fractal weapons, but requiring those game modes to craft is frankly not fair. I speaking as someone that is a veteran of the game ( play all 3 game modes) and I have crafted a whole set of ascended gear which takes time and money to make having made it when ascended gear was only craftable or a rare drop. I also participated in the first and second tournaments in sPvP and was tired of so little reward for spending my time there with people that are so salty and getting so frustrated with the pip system. It was a nice reward to get the ascended gear for the tournament and I believe it was a good reward especially since ascended gear does not drop in sPvP as regularly as say WvW or Fractals. If they had to change it I would have preferred that they made the shard cost more expensive or perhaps the gold to increase so it was a little more on par with the other ways of acquisition. Say only allowing you to buy the chest and legs or the helmet, gloves and boots rather than 5/6 pieces of armor. Forcing people to craft ascended armor especially after the price hike after HoT with damask patches is not fair to people that don’t like to craft. If this actually happens once again I’m sure I won’t be participating in the tournament seeing as people are so salty and many people get placed in a losing game because it is so unbalanced.

For the WvWers that was complaining I am sure you will get your ascended gear no doubt. You will be getting the triumphant armor that has been in the wardrobe since the reward tracks were placed into the game so there is no question that you will get it in time. Also ascended boxes do drop regularly in WvW at least I have had them drop and many of my friends that play WvW say they drop constantly and they don’t know what to do with them. But frankly do you want to have to craft that armor? pay for it from the vendor, then go and have to craft it on a profession? This is what most of us on this forum dislike about it. That they are forcing us to craft despite already going through the saltyness that is a sPvP tournament and enduring loss after loss after loss because of the unbalanced teams. Now I am not arguing that people don’t abuse it, hopefully Anet might be able to do something about it. for instance if someone has no stats in a match they can’t be rewarded with anything from that match no pips and no rewards. Increase the amount of shards needed so you can only get 2-3/6 pieces of armor per tournament. since that still requires someone to make or get a drop of 2-3 pieces of ascended armor from another game mode or by crafting it. All we are asking is for crafting not be put into these game modes, especially since you can only get shards of ascension during the tournament that is only for a limited amount of time.

Oh and I forgot you can do a lot of the mini dungeons that were in season 1 in fractals which are a level 80 dungeon. So you can see and experience some of season 1 in game.

As Yargesh said living world season one was a living story. It happened month to month with meta events and is no longer playable but there is a cut scene that covers the major points of season 1 and many of the cut scenes are on YouTube if you are interested in watching them. The seasons now are instanced but we still have a living world in that there are events going on in the world that are leading up to season 3. All four events are still running in the game. So you can go do them right now. But do remember that most living world events are geared towards level 80s and if you participate on a lower toon just remember you might get squished but there are lots of helpful players that will help and Rez you if you get downed

Well you brought back the Inventor’s glasses and the Aviator’s glasses. PLEASE! bring back the sunglasses. I need them to finish a look for a cosplay character. Not sure why they weren’t released as well?

I had lived once before, long ago before holebrek was created. I was one of the warriors who fought jormag when he rose. Though the songs are sung of Asgeir the so called dragonrender there were many that fought and lost their lives so he could claim his place in our history while those like myself fall to the mists our names forgotten and our songs unsung. I awoke from the mists when it was broken through. The grey was penetrated by a firey blaze fall owed by a beast known as charr that I had only heard of in tales. I fallowed this creature until he escaped the mists, pulling me from the mists as life was once again breathed into me and I could once again feel my flesh.

I found myself in the jungles along with strange creatures that were warped and twisted. Controlled by a dragon much like jormag. I fought against them and watched as a group of warriors slew the dragon and felt the power ripple across the earth, making my very soul shutter. I traveled for many months returning to the lands of my home to find them frozen and riddled with the sons of svanier and ice minions of jormag. I traveled south to encounter his strongest minion. Surprised by his attack and injured his claw had sliced into me and I had thought I would return to the mists my life scattered to the frozen fields and my story untold but then I heard it. The power and strength of his call. The serpent hissing into my ear and wrapping itself upon my very soul. I awoke my eye returned to me but not without consequence. My eye was now a glacial blue and the mark of jormag lay upon my face carving over my cheek and across my eye. But yet I did not fear it as I found in my hand a wonderus weapon. His voice slithered inside my head caressing me as it told me what I was. Each day that passed his power grew within me the svanier his so called followers attempted to kill me seeing as all woman turned by the ice brood before had been slain by his followers. Their strongest among them attacked me while I slept but his whisper awoke me and I took up my weapon gifted to me carved from the icy flesh of his claw slew each son that attacked me. Now the sons follow my orders without hesitation as we begin to execute his plan. The scattered remains of jormag’s followers now have a leader. We will fulfill his desires, his wishes and shall spread his name to the non believers. We shall lay siege to holebrek and retrieve the ill gotten prize of Asgier the coward. I shall be his voice, Their general, the great hunter, for I am Valdir the frost fang.

On Thursday April 28th,2016 we will be holding a cosplay parade and costume event in Lion’s Arch at 6pm PST. Why on a Thursday you ask? It’s because it is a special day for all us nerds out there…..SUPERHERO DAY!

To celebrate this Geekiest of Nerd days we will be theming our cosplay event after Superheroes. Each contestant can enter one female and one male Superhero into the contest. These Superheroes can be from anything so long as they are a Superhero so DC, Marvel, Blackhorse, Image Comics and much more, but just remember that if you pick a lesser known superhero to let the judges know and have a picture ready for them. Note that both Comic and movie versions are acceptable for these entries.

To round off the contest we will have a final category which is entitled The New Big Bad of Tyria. Because if we didn’t have those Supervillains and baddies what would the heroes have to do ? This part of the contest is for you to create an Original Character with their own looks and back story both will be presented to the judges. Be creative.
As well as the cosplay contest we will be marching around Lion’s Arch to start off the fun and for those that just want to hang out we will have Boxes o’fun, Bobble head stations and water balloon fights and much more for us to all have a great time and enjoy this wonderful Event.

There will be prizes give out at the end of the night and closer to the event we will announce some of the awesome prizes that can be won.

since you have the arena already might as well have fun with it. My guild does. We have a guardian who is an awesome PvPer we all ganged up on him and he took out a lot of us before we got him down. Have fun with it. make teams and fight against one another, have duels, have monthly PvP matches for prizes or titles in your guild. There is so much you can do with it just to have fun with your guild mates.

I hope this helps. I’ve done this collection before and you need the exotic version of this ring. The only place it drops is in the mini dungeon of Rhand. Best bet is to get a Mesmer to port you in. The boss at the end drops it rarely. So best to kill him at least once a day. He drops a chest as well as a champ chest but the champ chest only spawns once a day. It’s an under water fight so best bring a toon that is good at fighting under water. You’ll also get the chalice for the collection to drop here. The chalice drops far quicker though.

As it stands the home instance is not good enough.

The home instance is a mess at the moment and really has been neglected for far too long. It has no gliding crafting/merchant and a lot of the things you can get for it have really bad placement, for example two of my ore nodes are actually inside each other. Worst thing of all is that the Guild Decoration system was not added to the home instance with Heart of Thorns, it is the perfect system for home decoration.

I agree with this. It would be nice to be able to decorate home instances or a home in the guild hall. As it stands if you don’t own your own guild hall you can be locked out of decorating it. Since many guilds only give permission to a couple people to decorate and since guild halls aren’t made for 1-2 people there really isn’t a way for individuals to have a place to decorate. Plus theses that repurchased HoT received a free decoration which if used in a guild hall could only be used by those with permission. So you are basically giving your actual money to the guild. I think it would be perhaps possible to have a section in the guild hall that leads to an instance of a room that individual players could decorate for themselves and perhaps have their nodes and other achievement items in.

Yeah that area is cool. I actually found it back when we first opened the guild hall. You can actually get to it without the snow. You just head over to where the guild teleported is and before you go down the steps to it jump to the left and hop up. It’s a bit zig zaggy but you get there. It’s an awesome area. What I want to figure out is how to get to the area that is closed off to the top right of the map which is just beyond what you found there.

I agree with OP bring back influence to help smaller guilds and bigger ones. with breaking the missions for a week were no guild could gain favour if we still had the older system at least we would have still been able to gain some that week. We need gaining favour back for repping and doing things together. Especially for smaller guilds and when ANet breaks missions.

You also have to do the claw of jormag three times in order to get the achievement that is probably why your friend didn’t get it. On the third time completing it they should get the item they need. Just like you had to finish the bell choir and jumping puzzle three times.

At first I agreed that either the achievement should change or the puzzle should be changed because the last two years I did the jumping puzzle I was unable to complete it but finally this year with patience and a bit of music in the background and a friend encouraging me I was able to do the JP. Someone on here said they can’t get past the snowflakes. That was my problem the first year and last year was the presents. My question is that have you tried a different path? Or do you know there are three different ones? I’ve talked to different people who like gingerbread or snowman but personally I find them harder since the candy canes are smaller and the turns are sharper. So I go with the quaggans. Best thing to do is to start jumping on the snowflakes as soon as they spawn. You have 5 seconds or more to change direction and such plus the snowflakes go on an even curve rather than sharp turns. The candy canes are fairly easy to jump best bet is to jump on an angle. Why I suggest music is that it relaxes and also drowns out the sound of the breaking snowflakes. I find that noise makes me nervous and rush. Just take your time and eventually your hands will get used to the movement and you’ll memorize the turns. Once you get to the checkpoint aka fire candy. Wait for the middle striped boxes to spawn and run up them. When you reach the candy, go to the middle and dodge roll. Then jump onto the candy cane and wait at the end till the snowball disappears. Run up the slow and jump onto the candy to the right then the second one the snowball should have passed then jump onto the ramp and go to the candy stay low on it otherwise you’ll hit the snowman breath then run up the ramp jump to the left candy. Wait for the snowball to pass and wait for the red circle to despawn then run up and head for the presents. You should have at least 1000 health left so you can take your time. It’s hard at first I completely understand this is coming from someone who failed moragan’s spiral about fifty times before I got to the top. Just try your best.

With the guild bounty my guild is having the same problem we tried it on Wednesday and Thursday. thing is that we find him but he is at various different points on the screen depending on the person. I’ll see him at one point while another person will see him ten feet in front of where I am standing beside him. When we try to interact nothing happens and then he disappears after about 10 seconds. We find him again and rinse and repeat.

yeah I’ve had this problem since yesterday after the update. I tried both the NPC and the portal, the portal tells me the world is full and the NPC loads me but then I load back into DR. I only managed to get into it once after trying about 10 times with the portal and NPC

Actually that one would have been made after the second update to the make over kit seeing as that hair style wasn’t available till then. The colour looks like one of the standard greens, it’s probably the marking colour that is off. I can’t play with one of my kits atm but I will try it tonight on one of my syovari males and let you know. Though warning they do have specific colours and such that are only for NPCs. Just like you can’t make a duplicate of destiny’s edge of the b-iconic because they don’t want the player base to be able to copy them, but I will let you know what I find.

Been seeing several bug reports on various HoT maps during big events. Seems I’m having the same issues as others. Twice today during Battle of Tairir in Auric Basin my client crashed in the middle of the fight. Each time this happens I was originally in a populated map and then when I come back I’m in a map that is under populated and the event even hasn’t been hit yet and both times it has failed because of lack of people. Thus neither time I have gotten the reward for finishing the event. Please if this can be fixed I would appreciate it. Seeing as it is extremely frustrating that I am not getting the event competition except for a fail seeing as I am kicked out of the instance that would have won. When this happens my client freezes and an error message comes up. Please fix this if possible and has anyone else experienced this?

It would be great to fight him as a mordrum but I doubt that he would become one, but even a clone of him would be awesome! Frankly I’ve had a discussion about this topic with a friend that is deeply into lore and because he holds calibolgh (know that’s not spelled right XP) he wouldn’t be able be turned since it is technically a cleansing sword, thus it would cleanse him so long as he has a hold of it, but hey if he looses it maybe the sylvari characters could finally have their awesome sword back!

But yeah I’d like canach as pact leader but I’d still be worried about him seeing as what he said in seeds of truth at the end and is of similar disposition to foaulen

I understand having asended gear for endgame content but like any dungeon people are going to go all elitist on people and expect a certtain armor. It has taken me a long time to make my ranger armor and it will just be a waste and a hastle to create new armor for him or completely be ignored for raids because he is a ranger. Until legendary armor comes out most of us will be inconvienced and it will force a lot of people to have to wait to do the content.

I agree with you both. When I heard that Halloween was being released on the same day as HoT I was a bit shocked. I had hoped it would be released on October 20th so we had a few days to enjoy it and didn’t have to wait 5 hours for HoT to download when I just want to play the Halloween content. Which frankly I’m more excited about Halloween seeing as most people missed out on the original Halloween and much of it looks to be like year one which the community has asked for time and again but simply because of this fact I am doing like Aerwyna and playing the Halloween content first since HoT will be there and Halloween will be gone after not even two weeks.

yeah I did that first thing when I found that I didn’t get the item and couldn’t get it from the merchant in Silverwastes. They told me to put in a bug report in game and put a post up here. they couldn’t give me the item.

Though my lum leggings achievement shows I haven’t received the ring and this is my problem. All I want are my leggings. I don’t really care about the ring. I’ve just done all this work to get the whole set and because of a bug or glitch I can’t get the last piece which completes the set. Which without the leggings the set is rediclous looking.

Halloween Costume Party on the Sinister Swarm Website

Halloween is just around the corner as well as the release of Guild War2: Heart of Thorns.
With the expansion coming out we want to celebrate our favorite holiday in Guild Wars and what better way to celebrate but with a PARTY!

We will be holding a costume contest and party on
October 25th, 2015.

Bring all you’re scariest spooks and goblins, you’re cookiest gremlins and monsters.
The party will start at 5:00PM PST with a parade and will end with the costume contest along with our big Halloween bash.

Wether you are participating in the costume contest or not please come along for some fun and games.

We’ll have costume brawls, water guns and bobble heads to have some fun with and end with a big dance party.

The costume contest will be divided into three groups and you can participate in however many you would like to join in.

The first contest is the Halloween costume contest:
These will be the costumes we parade around in.
They are to be Halloween themed and can be characters from your favorite Halloween movies or TV shows or can be your own original character.

The second contest will be the group contest:
This contest will require 2-5 people in a group all themed under a movie, TV show, Anime, Comic books or Video game.

The third contest will be a cosplay contest:
This contest will be individuals dressed up at TV show themed characters. So long as they are in a TV show they will be accepted.

Note: you cannot put one toon into all three contests but you can have multiple toons and apply for each contest but only one entry per contest. As well Outfits from the Gem store will not count in the Halloween contest and cosplay contest, but are permitted in the Group contest.

Prizes will be given away to each division as well as overall prizes, which means even if you don’t win first place for the Halloween contest you might still have a chance to be the most spooktacular.
So come one come all to our Halloween Party to have some spooktacular good times!

Guess no one else has had this issue. If I remember correctly I was doing seeds of truth when a patch happened so my game restarted when I went out of the instance but I can’t be sure. I’d just really like some help with this seeing as it is the only piece of lum armor left to get and all I need is the ring and with the achievements done I have no way to get the ring. Please help.

I’ve played ranger for three years now and never have been able to control my pet or use its f2 ability. Yes it can attack and activate it’s standard abilities while you are downed but I find the pet extremely useless if you are in sPvP or WvW it takes a long while for the #3 to go off cool down. I’m usually staked within that amount of time unless one of my team mates can red me or get the attention of the other player. With you mentioning that other classes don’t have special downed skills they do. Thieves have two helpful downed skills being able to invisible and shadows step. Meanders can port and make a double while going invisible. Guardians can knock back, Warriors can get up and kill their opponent. Elementalists can smoke form and run away. Rangers and engies are the only ones with no mobility when they are downed and half the time the lightning strike doesn’t interrupt a stake. So yes in PvE the pet can be OP but in any player vs. Player section usually you are dead.

But if you are saying some how I can use my pet skills other than getting them to attack the person I have targeted then I have never seen it or used it. I will have to try but I’m pretty sure you can’t activate your f2 skill while downed. I have also never been able to change my pet while downed. You burst them and depending on the pet they will keep attacking or limp over to you. Yes the pet can still heal you but if they changed it to not heal then you’d be completely removing #3 from the downed state which would be like telling a mess that they can’t go invisible and create a double while downed.

Not sure if anyone else has had this issue, but I finally managed to complete the Seeds of Truth achievements to get the Verata’s seared ring to get the Luminesant leggings to complete the whole Lum set of armor. I completed everything for the pants and then completed the seeds of truth achievements to get the ring to get the leggings, but when I finished there was no ring. I checked the vendor too but it didn’t have it available for me to buy either which is what I thought I had to do after I wasn’t gifted it at the end of the achievements.

I sent in a bug report in game with a screen shot of my completed seeds of truth panel in my hero panel as well as my wardrobe and inventory. unfortunately I can’t show the seeds of truth achievement and the lum leggings achievement at the same time seeing as they are in the Hero panel. Please if someone could help me I would appreciate it.

she is alive. when edge of the mists opened up she appears in the middle before the atherblades spawn. If I remember correctly you can see her in the junction right at reset before anything is claimed. Unless they have changed it since I last saw it.

If I might suggest something I use to avoid having to carry multiple armor sets on one toon; multiple toons. One toon slot costs 800gems far less than expanding bank tabs or bag slots on each toon. set up individual toons of specific things such a raids/dungeons, PvE content and WvW. It’s just a suggestion. I know people will say it takes time and such, but it can make things simpler.

I disagree with knight, ranger is balanced if you play it right. You can have a DPS ranger or a healer. Now since this is in the HoT thread instead of the normal one yes you can argue that they a healing class but that is only the Druid not the ranger in general. I’d suggest trying each out. Both classes are versatile and are great both solo and in groups. With the elite specialization they are even better, but as said before it all depends on what you like to do in game and don’t forget you can play a support role in a dungeon and flip your build when beating on NPCs in silverwaste so for any of us to suggest something we’d need more info but it might simply be easier for you to try each one out. Usually by level 20 you know if you like a class or not. But warning necro is extremely squishy in that level range.

Why not have week long betas? Give more people a chance to play it. Not everyone gets weekends off but I’m sure you’re well aware of that.

Nice that you have them working but the time allotted is horrible for anyone that lives on the east coast and works a normal day shift. Had all weekend and didn’t get to try out raids now I’m gonna have to wait till the 23rd to try them. Not usually a complainer since ANet has been awesome but admittedly I’m a little miffed, since raids was one of the things I really wanted to try. Now only those that have the day off or live in an odd time zone or play hookie get to try it.

Yeah we haven’t posted a date or time yet since Anet hasn’t announced exactly when it will be updated, though I suspect from their latest news about it that it will be in the next two weeks. Since they said the next update. But we figure that it will probably be around 5 or 6pm PST.
