Guild Wars 2

Hello!

So i recently came back to the game as a couple old friends got gw2 with the nice sale they had and wanted me to come as well.

Been enjoying the game again but as its been roughly 2 years, i’m absolutely lost. I cant recall the exact time when i quit ( had one brief comeback for like a month once) so its hard to ask "whats changed since… ".

The last update i remember was the Fractals being introduced into the game and i played for around a month after that.

So basically what im asking is;

How has the story been proceeding? I went to Lions Arch and was….baffled to say the least :P

Any major updates changing some big aspects of the game? This is kind of a bad question as within the last 2 years i’ve pretty much forgotten everything from instances to daily farming.

Daily routine, what should i be doing nowadays? I saw theres some daily tasks i can do for nice rewards but thats pretty much it. Which instances/dungeons should i be doing, world bosses? AGH i cant remember anything anymore!

Are there any fancy guides anywhere for what i should do daily etc? I’ve been playing swtor lately and using Dulfy and noticed she/he(?) does gw2 stuff as well but havent looked there yet in depth.

Might it be helpful to just level a new alt from 1-80 and try to learn along the way or just continue with my current levelcappers?

So that turned out as a big wall of text, sorry incase there was a nice guide related to this somewhere already, i did try to search around a little bit but im definately not known for my searching abilities lol.

Do you mean by labyrinth the mad kinds one in the realm? Doesnt seem THAT quick atleast imo considering they seem to take a good while to finish the events?

Im gonna give the guesting a shot, I got myself level 20 blue armour set so yea im in the ‘’final struggle’’ at level 28 and gonna upgrade at 30 :P

Queensdale kessex hills hendarran fields and harathi hinterlands, Seems every event requires more people becouse theres no way for me to beat a veteran and 5 adds :P

Somebody ingame told me to go to lornars pass, is it easier compared to the centaur stuff?

So i came back to the game a few days back and got on to leveling but apparently my server is just EMPTY, literally, i didnt run to other player for an hour of leveling. So logically that brought some problems to be including the fact i cant do most of the events atleast in the area im doing which is the humans and centaurs areas.

So i was wondering are the other areas ’’easier’’ considrering events etc? Im already falling behind becouse i couldnt do most of the centaur events becouse of the champion bosses etc.

Oh and im playing an thief which is apparently really really squishy compared to other classes.

Yeaa i guess it was someone removing me then, we had some special ranks for the most important people but i assume it was the original leader then, as i had the highest rank possible so only the original leader could have kicked me out, right?

Was just surprised the game didnt even leave me a message or anything that i had been kicked, ill try and see if i can catch the leader someday and ask whats up. He did quit without telling anybody so it would be weird of him to kick me out then for any reason.

first of all sorry if this went to the wrong subforum.

secondly some facts to make this all clearer:

-The guild was formed somewhere in the launch of GW2 by a group of players.
-I joined the guild about a month or two after the launch and became good friends with everybody in it.
-Eventually the real leader gave me SOME type of leadership of the guild and he just…dissappread never to be seen again.
-I didnt have any experience in guild leading so we got off to a slow start but main point is that i was THE leader.

So I hadnt played in AGES (closer to 6months) as my guild had come pretty inactive and i had nobody to play with. Today a friend of mine and i decided to start playing gw2 and it was just perfect considering i had a maxed out guild ready for us with all the fancy boosts…But only problem was that the guild wasnt there…

Does the game delete inactive guilds automatically? Can a non-leader delete the guild?
I just cant understand where it could have gone.

aw, well if we think end game etc, which do most damage or support the best? im guessing engineer is still the jack of all trades which would fit me nicely?

Edit: I used to try out every char back when i used to play which is around 6-8months ago so i dont really remember anything and dont wanna go and level everything to level 10 again to see if i like it :P

Im back (once again) and as you might guess, im lost, totally lost.

I wanna give gw2 another try and level another char to the cap and kinda start over with a new quild and such. The reason im asking for a ’’best’’ solo class is that i dont want to run up to another event that i cant possibly beat solo.

I already have a mentalist, warrior and a necro at cap so dont suggest those :P

Im kinda bad on finding all the update info (and lazy >_>) and when i checked the patches there was just so much text i hardly understood anything of it.

So basically im just gonna list some questions i have.

Any MAJOR updates? I see the new storyline stuff happening etc…Played a little bit for the past 2 days and only new thing i’ve seen are the laurels but the game told me what they were pretty well.

Any flavour of the month classes? I always have this problem i gotta have some epic class everyone likes etc… at the moment i have necro, warrior and ele at 80 and planning on leveling something new with a friend. I’ve been thinking about engineer and mesmer but from my understanding both of them are kinda laking dps?

Im def not gonna level thief if nothing major has been changed with it, only thing i ever did with it was go pewpew pistols in Spvp, admitting it was a load of fun but the class didnt seem too supportive PvE wise.

Basically is any class ’’superb’’ compared to the other in every aspect (wvw, PvE, spvp, solo, events) Or should i live with what i got? It would be AWESOME if someone was to make a list of classes and describe what they’re the best at.

Man that looks cool, wish i could draw like that lol, how long did that take?

So basically, becouse of the dumb 1k picture cap, i’v made always a new folder inside the gw2 pics folder where i put the old pictures, well i was bored today and tought i could do some picture editing which i enjoy.
But when i got to the pictures folder…the other 2 folders were gone O_O
Am i in the wrong files now or where the hell have they gone, becouse im a hundread percent sure that i’v never deleted them myself.

Thats the folder where they atleast used to be, it also includes the newest pictures i have taken.

Im not 100% sure did i infact put the old pictures in the same place in their own folder, but im 99% sure, anybody else exprienced this after the latest patches or anything?

We were fighting in aldon when suddenly our enemy just came inside the castle with 2 golems and a bunch of players, well we took them down fast and it didnt take long until they arrived again, to the same spot, but with 3 golems and even more players.
(There was not a single mesmer around nor any mesmer portal circles)

From my understanding all this kind of glitching was already fixed??

(Im from Gunnar’s Hold and the enemy was Dzagonur[DE])

Well after mastering clocktower, the winter puzzle is WAY TOO EASY, And dont really see other ways to make it harder than make a longer one, dunno is it really so much easier or did i just get too good farming clocktower

How about how they compare in dps etc? quessing ele can do dps beter but engi more supportive tanky?

Finally got space to make an engineer and after an hour of playing in the mists and leveling for another hour, i was left kind of confused.

so compared to ele for an example, does engi reguire more skill or less? ofc having those 4 tool belt skills affects alot and timing them right, but i just couldnt get a hang of it.

And considering i already have that ele which i know well, a warrior and a necro and possibly guardian and either thief or ranger, should i just leave engi alone and focus ’’skill’’ on my ele?

Could there please be a way to transfer them into something like character/crafting xp or even some silver, i’v never used any of the boosters/bank anywhere items and dont feel like i ever do, instead i just use them away and dont really get any usefulness out of them…Like the halloween mystic box, i couldnt use any of mine by halloween becouse i had used all the blue transform potions thinking i will never need them >_<

(Im one of those people tho who tell themselves to save them for later use when i’d actually need them…even tho i dont So dont think this is a ’’global’’ problem of the game.)

Example for a mystic forge recipe:

slot 1 ’’boost’’ item
slot 2 ’’boost’’ item
slot 3 ’’boost’’ item
slot 4 ’’boost’’ item

And the boost items are like the following stuff:

Any kind of xp/armour/karma/glory booster there is.
Any kind of insta rez/repair canister/bank express.

And it could have a chance of giving you something like:

Crafting mats (20-40 like the map completions)
A rare item or two.
maybe 20gems? would end up with people tranferring gems into gold in bigger amounts tho, but dont know would it be any worse than rares yelding 3ectos/1g
Other stuff that ALL people would actually use.

or in its holy simpliness, make all the boosters etc become collectibles, that’d be super cool too ^^

Loved it myself too, it yeilds cool pictures too

Wondering why there aint a whole dungeon like this already, dont really understand how some caves/dungeons got light in them even tho theres no torches or cracks on the roof for light etc >_<

this might sound like a stupid question but am i doing something very wrong with tank build or am i supposed not to be able to kill anybody? Really, i was defending this keep and we ended up being on walls and i was attacking this ranger…he didnt even have to move away from his position becouse of my low damage lol.

(i just threw some tanky items from my backpack on and checked a few tanky traitings for guidance)

Should i just focus on full apothecarys gear for tougness healing and cond (like a friend of mine suggested) or make more balance to vitality and power.

Also i noticed bleeds and burns were killing me thru mist form, is it Wai? becouse it literally doesnt help a crap bit if im with 2k hp and a 20 stack of bleeds :P

I like the idea but PLEASE dont make a single new class until the old ones are balanced, fixed and bugless >_<

(this might go too much kung fu panda style but i’d like to play as that class as a tengu)

I did some testing earlier on my ranger and i didnt understand what i just read 100% but if i understood right:

1.Power increases the base damage of your attack which the critical damage is tied to, meaning 100 base damage becomes 150 as a crit without no crit damage.

Lets imagine you got X amount of power so the skills base damage rose to 150, the crit would now be 225.

the ’’tests’’ i did (which were very small) showed me that by increasing my power by 100-200 it was like getting 10-20% more crit damage

Again, not sure did i understand your question right but theres what i know :P

Overall i dont see any reason not getting critical damage multiplier gear. (also all gear this far that has crit damage, also has the power stat with it) Sure 4k power means bigger attacks without AND with crits, but the crit damage mulltiplier is just extra crit damage there that you cant achieve by increasin power—>base damage—>crit damage.

@OP: Check this site. Stick around with the Claw of Jormag events, and afterwards say in chat that you LFG HotW exp. Usually on my server there are quick groups forming after the Claw of Jormag fight.

Not really planning on making ele too much of a main becouse i keep making new alts but quess my guardian would like the svanir heavy set so thanks for the advice

Are there ANY legging and chest armour that would fullify the following criterias:

Chestpiece must NOT hide my gauntlets becouse i love the way the Cof light gloves look!
And the leggings would be nice to have a ’’open’’ part on the middle so my shoes that are also from CoF would be visible :P

Been looking at all the armour sets and only one that seems to go thru my needs is the HoTW one, but nobody seems to be doing it on my server anymore -.-
Karma set/exalted light would’ve been fine if the kitten chestpiece didnt hide the gloves

So if anybody know matching legging and chestpiece, please tell me :P

Simply, is that 400 higher crit on meteor storm worth losing 5k HP or 400 healing power or tougness?

Cant decide myself and im not too much into getting a set for all possible build especially when i seem to level every class to 80 >_<

Im mainly going to focus ele on wvw and dungeons so would it be best to be the ultimate glass cannon and possibly get 1shotted in wvw and dungeons or do less damage but be kind of a tank? Also im a fan of staff so sceptre/daggers dont really fit me :/

Can anybody tell me ANY good reason why we cant see the HP of our enemies, surely its the smallest of the problems ingame but its VERY annoying now after 3months to just look at a red bar slowly going down.
Especially when some mobs that are in the same area, the time it takes to kill them seems so double sometimes even tho it doesnt say anything under the Hp bar of the enemy (like better defence or similiar)

So would absolutely love to see the HP to actually see if the mob has more of it, or atleast add a little word under its HP bar that its more resistant to damage (like it already says on some)

Not to mention how annoying it is to see one type of mob hit 500, the 2nd 1k and the 3rd throws a 6k >_< But thats off topic^^

Majority of people got crazy lag and stuff mentioned above last night, all night until i went to sleep, pretty much exactly 22hours ago, its gone now tho.

Didnt see it until today that a few mobs like to hit my ele for some kitten high damage. and tought if im ever going to a dungeon, how in hell am i supposed to stay alive :P
So if tougness worth it in small amounts of is it just better to CC the mobs better so they wont hit that often?

According to the QQ…yes…But i just want to make a class thats ’’main’’ weapons would be bows becouse i’v always liked them. I just dont want to level ranger 80 too to realise im even less useful than my necro which i havent touched in weeks >_<

Mainly asking people who have an engineer too, becouse that’d be next in my list of chars im interested in, or are engineers just as worthless (havent put time to research that myself yet)

the difference doesn’t make you as completely as powerful, but shortens the gap between a low and high level character so you won’t get steamrolled as fast. for example you are still missing out on trait points and skills that havent purchased yet

Okay, so basically level 30 would be enough(elite and all utilities) to make an alt wvw ready if i dont need/want to be super Uber perfected?

I was reading an old post and saw someone write that even as a non level 80, i can be almost as good(gear wise ofc) as a geared lv80 person.
To achieve this, the player just had to get on level gear to the character so when you enter wvw, it scales the stats according to that gear.

I tested this on my ele and it indeed did work, and as i like to spend time wvw:ing, i tought does it scale a level 10 ranger’s stats as much as a level 50 rangers when they both have the same stat gear/weapons but just different level? or is there still a big/small difference?

Would love to defend some keeps on a ranger without just realising that the enemy ranger deals 4x the damage you do :P

I wish they did really focus on necros for once. it annoys me how i like necro and especially staff and marks, but just sucks that my guardian can either do better damage than necro, survive better and be better support (atleast from my PoV)

They kept telling me this in lotro and i still disagree…
Champions have to be in melee range which means they get hit by every AoE and get hit first, So they need super OP armour, mitigations, health and bubbles which are not Op at all in pvp(sarcasm), they also had the best dps, YAY.

Champion stands for warrior.
Of course this doesnt even apply to Gw2 when warrior can do just as good when using ranged weapons >_<

the differences between a tank build, balanced build and glass cannon build really arent that big. What im saying is that you can get lots of defence without dropping your damage so much that it REALLY shows up, or well it could, but we cant measure it really without dps calculators etc.

these are just my points of view so far that i have learned, please dont flame if im wrong lol.

…And get a Xp token that you can use on an alt, would you do so for your necro?
my necro offically has no point in existing, other than being an awesome bank of course.

Was just wondering if the expansion packs we’ll get in the future have new races in them? and if yes, will they add new classes for them too?
asking becouse im addicted on making alts all the time but now I’v started thinking if a tengu thief would be possible in the future :P and similiar ideas^^

Also, has anet said anything of possible race switches (Yes yes yes its unreal and doesnt fit the lote etcetcetc….) in the black lion? considering many people make and level their toons to 80 now, it would be kinda stupid if they only added races in the future and no new classes for it and no way to switch race instead of leveling it all the way up again?

I’v been constantly making Human chars becouse imo the armours look the best on them ankittenep missing all the other races :/ I love how asura have all the funny things they say whenever they get a boon or whatever, and they are cute overall :P
Im just way too concerned of the looks of armours and will anybody even see me when im just that little dot in the screen compared to all the huge norns and charrs

So has anybody else had this kind of problem and ended up making a asura anyway?
I can imagine doing CoF etc with 5 asuras but boy would that take time to form a whole group

Just wondering should i save them or not? the stats arent anything i need and i could just make it into ectos etc but would there be a whole set or something in the future?

Edit: Meh didnt actually check can i salvage it…it turns out i cant—-well anyway, are they worth saving? maybe a dev post?

Just hit 80 and started getting some gear off TC and i started wondering to buy rifle or longbow, I do know Longbow is for superior AoE when rifle is heavy single target damage, so should i just buy both? Im also wondering of the stats, i tend to use the longbow in dungeons so i can pretty much AoE everything down, but whenever the mobs there come at me, its pretty much death for me quicly, so wondering if i should go straigh power/prec/condition or buy one with power/vita/heal or power/vita/tough?

Im also thinking of the dungeon sets, As you see im heavily based on condition damage with my ranged, but i LOVE Greatsword, and the condition damage is just useless for GS build, so is it worth it to get both sets for Bow/rifle and GS? or what do you think?

Got just one more thing, for the ranged weapons, im not sure should i go with bow rifle, i do like both of them and it seems bow is more AoE and control (blind and immobilise) when rifle is more single target damage bleeds with heap CC.

Quess that becomes down to personal choice and im infact leveling a ranger which alrdy uses a bow so rifle would def be better for warrior in that case.

So is either of them superior to other?
