Conditions are not meta, necros are not op. Stop living in the past.
Regardless of meta or who is or is not OP (You’ll notice I never said a thing about anything being overpowered), This was last night, and a staff necro was ridiculously easy to do very well with.
So perhaps you should work on your reading comprehension skills before you attempt anymore forum pvp. Thanks.
Edit – 4) “Hammer” warrior.
But all that being said, I made a warrior as well, and it was not as face ripping easy as the Necro was. Nor was the Ele I made either.
1) Roll a Necro
2) Join an sPvP match
3) Repeatedly smash face into keyboard.
Seriously though, all joking aside. As someone who plays a thief, and was wanting to branch out and learn something a little “harder”, based on all the trash I heard spoken about how easy thieves are, I was a little surprised at how much I face rolled a brand new necro. I mean, I didn’t even look at what spec I was, I just jumped right in the middle of a hot join match, and took top score from both teams with 11 kills, just mashing pretty aoe’s everywhere.
No this post doesn’t have a point, Just looking to be more active in the spvp community and thought this could be an interesting discussion. I know conditions are meta right now, but geez, did I just happen to join a match with a bunch of horrible players, or is Necro really this easy right now?
The colors seem to be random, from what I’ve seen. You have a 33% chance of being green again.
(For you sticklers, the remaining 1% chance of the colors will be your battlegroup being broken by some glitch and nobody being able to fight)
Bad math is bad.
There is no remaining 1%.
It should work like this. The team that wins moves to a higher bracket. The team that loses moves to the lower bracket. The team in the middle stays put.
HoD would be bumped off to where then since they are on top?
This is pretty much it. What you stated is pretty much what happens, except that at lower brackets teams might stay the same if scores don’t warrant a place up due to a ceiling in the scoring
Sore losers + racism, forumers showing their true colors.
France isn’t a race, it’s a country
There are no races (if you believe otherwise, i have bad news for you, it’s called racism)… So there is no racism? Next time you try to sound clever, please have a clue.
Trying so hard to think of a witty reply…
Except I honestly can’t figure out what your saying.
No troll.. Just seriously can’t figure out the contradiction you just said.
Sore losers + racism, forumers showing their true colors.
France isn’t a race, it’s a country
Well…
The french had to be good at something eventually.
Guess I’m not too surprised its pretending to fight.
Oh and a little extra special to goons…
It’s been too long guys, great to see your blood on my daggers again:)
Agreed. Bad kitten matchup this past week. (EB here).
Its the first time since launch that there was just hair raising fights whenever I logged on until I logged off all week long. I’m assuming that TC will go up and we and M will get matched with one below. I just hope they’re up for the 7 days of intense pvp that I know Mag and EB are gonna bring.
To TC: Good fight guys.
To Mag: Almost kitteners…almost;)
I keep one handy at all times in wvw. For keep fights it’s a necessity.
I actually do like the achievments and stuff in WvW because it’s harder to do with pvp around. Makes it feel more like “World” pvp.
However, I think that there is a huge problem with big battles going on and we have carebears off doing pve content the entire time. I would hate to see the stuff go, however if thats what needs to be done to insure that people go to pvp areas to pvp, then so be it.
Been an awesome week regardless, everytime Ive logged into WvW it’s been a hair raising blast, and quite honestly I would be perfectly happy if at 8:05 we start this all over:)
God knows if we drop a bracket and we just rick roll ending a week 600k – 50k – 50k kitten just gets boring.
I’d much rather have a battle to lose then to just hang out in wvw mining ore.
Haha the goons can’t do anything that involves thinking past “Let’s all get together and mob”. I’m actually quite amazed that words such as “psychological”, “warfare”, and “the” are even known to them.
Anyways, alliance or not there have definitely been some good fights. Well, atleast from TC. I haven’t seen anything worth while from Goons except for lag. I GUESS that’s a viable tactic.
Still think it’s funny that Maguuma keeps coming after us fighting for second place. Or for that matter why the majority of EB keeps going back after them.
Props to the groups on all 3 servers that understand how 3 way warfare actually works and tries to conduct as such.
Soooo….
It seems the problem here is your server has a bunch of whiny carebear kids who get their little feelings hurt by losing and would rather give up then put up a fight….
And we wonder whats wrong with the country these days.
Anyway, to those thinking that WvW will die because of the “kiddies” who get butthurt when someone beats them, it works like this.
WvW will only die on those servers with said kiddies since they don’t like to lose, and obviously give up at the simple appearance of losing, they will all go to the bottom, where WvW will not be very active. Those of us who live on manly servers, and would rather right to the death rather then roll over and take it will continue to be middle, maybe losing to servers with larger pops, but having fun because it’s a good fight, rather than not getting to play because of said “kiddies”. And then those that reside on high pops will continue to sit in ques most of their game time until they wise up and get over their pride and move to lower pops so they can actually play, thus spreading out the balance.
Seriously – just standby. Eventually people will get tired of sitting in ques and will move. Giving up because your outnumbered is not going to make your server one of the ones they choose, so get out there and fight.
My biggest problem with WvWvW at the moment is that my guardian is my favorite character, and highest level and best geared, but to try to play a melee class in a ranged AOE spam fest is extremely frustrating and pretty much useless. =/ Idk if i’m just a bad guardian and i’m doing something wrong, but i have to get on my low level elementalist just to try to get anything done.
Just to comment on Guardian gameplay -
I don’t play a guardian, but our main Guardian in our guild wrecks things. I think it comes down more to organization like all things in WvW. He, and other melee players, line up ready to run in, and at the same time we hit from a different direction confusing the enemy. I think he actually is leading the guild for kills atm, something like 7 or 8k in wvw.
Overall I understand some of the gripes people have about it, but theres not really much ANet can do aside from stop free server transfers. Problem is, people are dumb and lazy and would rather say their on the top server rather than play. We were on DB but moved to EB because we got tired of ques. I think my guild in general would rather have hair raising fights and win small battles but lose the war due to lower population then brag about being on whatever server is #1 when we don’t get to play, let alone all play together. Unfortunately theres just not really anything ANet can do for that mentality. Well, there is, that’s why there is also SPvP.
All in all I’m extremely impressed with WvW. It’s everything I hoped it would be, and the only real grip I have about it is large groups of people not showing up until your in the middle of them. yea theres lag, but when you have 100+ vs 100+ your just not gonna avoid lag entirely with current technology.
I think the PVE question here isn’t so much that we suck in PVE, it’s just that being the squishiest class in the game we have to spec differently then we would in PvP for it. (Granted other classes may be this way, don’t know yet.)
I don’t mean we need to spec differently for us to do our best, I just mean in general. We are extremely squishy unless you have good gear and spec for armor and vitality, and even then.
I think the real distinction that catches us off guard is just how ANet did their PvE. PvE is just hard. Mobs hit much harder then we are used to in other games. I actually rather like this. (Although it is annoying when some mobs equal level can 3 shot you and they put them in a pack of 3. =/)
Scorpions wire is your best friend. I never really used it and was dying A LOT. I started using it to break up mob packs and suddenly my survivability went way up.
I think this would be awesome.
Dronin brings up a great point, but not for the reason he thinks.
Thieves in this game seem to have many more viable builds then the standard “cookie cutter” you see in most games, and from what I hear many classes are like this. This makes it all the more important that thieves could do a q/a type thing with the more publicly known thieves.
Eventually other classes will learn to stop being glass cannons when thieves are around.
I read this and all I can see is:
“The class that is supposed to be best for mobility and single target damage has mobility and single target dmg. Nerf now.”
All in all, I don’t think anyone but a handful on either side actually believed in any “alliance”
Let me clarify: Chances are like what most have said is that both servers saw a distinct advantage by EB (EB player here) on Saturday morning and made it their mission to keep EB down. Not out of any alliance, but by focusing the “Big Dog” of the moment. Now that EB is not the big dog, we will probably see both servers focusing more on TC, because honestly nobody wants to fight for second place.
All in all, it’s been a great matchup and I look forward to continuing the fight through the week. I think most people that have “complained” on here are just really getting in some forum pvp, more then they expect that two servers are really organizing against us. Mostly anyway. Personally I’d like to see a realm server so that the opposing factions can cross talk while in the BLs, so that conversations on the forums stay more as intended. Plus let’s be honest, we’d all love some cross talk at one point or another
The orbs do give a bit too much, my server is last this week so far and we have crap for health and damage is barely noticeable while we take 4500+ damage per hit from an enemy with 2 or more orbs.
Last week my server was dominating (490K to 60K and 40K) and now we got matched up with tougher servers and now realize why we dominated the other two servers.
Losing team should at least get a health or toughness buff while winning team should get extra reinforcements at sieges, IMO they shouldn’t boost damage done.
here’s the damage from a single player with the 3 orb buff. That plus being outnumbered caused most of our server players to just leave.
In all fairness Hundred Blades is currently OP as kitten without the orbs so while I agree with what your saying, your example isn’t really fair.
I love the concept of the orb, but I do agree that their implementation should be done differently. It does make it very difficult for a low pop server being dominated when the dominating server gets such great stats benefits.
Personally what I’d like to see is orb buffs give something like +magic find and +xp, money per kill, badges, or whatever. Make it worthwhile to have, but don’t make it give a winning edge to a server that already has the winning edge.
If all things were equal I think the buffs would be great, as in equal fights they provide only a slight advantage, and I definitely don’t want to see them be useless. But they do need to change the “How is” I believe.
What I’ve found is not so much that Thieves are UP as much as they are very squishy. I died a TON in PVE until I realized that I just shouldn’t get hit. Obviously this is easier said then done, but i found focusing on dodging attacks and using stealth alot helped.
I had the same impressions, maybe something similar to what AoC tried to do with guild keeps and such, where there is also a “borderlands” where the guilds within the server can compete for the keeps similar to how it’s done in WvW, and certain keeps give bonuses for use in PVE and WvW to that guild.
However the obvious downside to this is it detracts from the server community I feel like ANet is more concerned with.
I do agree though, it’s more like Server Wars than Guild Wars.
I totally utterly disagree with almost all of what you said. THE WORST THING ABOUT PVP GAMES in the past, what…. 5-8 years? Literally YEARS, has been rewards for PvP. PvP is all about fighting and fun, not about ‘imaginary presents’. Give people a reason to not fight and just soak up cheese rewards for doing nothing, and most will do just that, nothing. The server has to work together, you didn’t place the siege, you don’t get user rights, simple. Some bad guild claims a keep and your sever suffers from it, so be it, there’s bad players on ALL the realms ( and IRL too =p). Take Spvp for example, theres not a lot of people AFK’n those, or running in circles not fighting so that they can get ‘max points’ for gear. Which is exactly how world pvp should be, fighting, continuous nonstop fighting. If you die and need to repair and its costing you money, easy solution; die less. The WvW works, in almost all aspects, the players themselves are what make it seem like its not. You have servers teaming up against other servers, zerg guilds spreading their influence on mulitple servers because there HORRIBAD at anything with even numbers. People not using siege, defending properly, or even using abilities / spec combos correctly. The game is just barely a month out, and most of what people expect is already on the table. THE LAST THING this game needs, is more rewards to NOT FIGHT in its wvw; the last thing i want is kids waiting around a keep they just defended for their ‘loot bag’. The loot should be the badkitten experience of kicking people’skitten using ability combos and siege equipment, repairing, strategizing, coordinating attacks, the list goes on of all the badkitten stuff in RL War, just like The Art of War. Please god keep the carrots out of the game, between all the PVE set grinds, i feel like there’s a little too much already. Keep the game about fighting not about rewards, its about the journey not the destination.
I agree with your message mostly, but not really your delivery.
I consider myself a hardcore pvp’r, by means that I wish a major game like GW2 would go the way of Darkfall style where the only rewards is taking your enemies stuff and maybe some stats to show off. However that will never happen.
I do agree that the rewards for people just "sitting’ in keeps needs to be minimal if existent at all, however I got the impression he was referring more to the active defense of keeps where you are literally fighting off the hordes at the front gate.
If I’m wrong then yea, there should be no rewards for just “hanging out” in a world pvp zone.
I honestly only agree with #3. There could def be more rewards for successfully defending a keep. Maybe just up the values maybe to be comparable to taking the point or something.
I never really had a problem with repair costs, however I made a huge effort to not die. Not saying you suck, just saying you either a) should work at staying alive more or b) find ways to optimize your income (e.g. hit all resource nodes, make sure and pick up all bags, etc etc)
I don’t understand how seeing the entire map is an issue, nor is it realistic. I would agree that you shouldn’t be able to see attacks that don’t involve your server (not even sure if you can honestly), but why wouldn’t you know the map? In any war the armies know the areas, and not only do they need the crossed arrows to show players who might not be with the group already (just zoning in) and keep the game enjoyable, think of it like intel being passed by your npc defenders.
And you may have put the supply into the seige equip, but that player spent the dough. It’s only right that he can kick anyone off who didn’t spend the coin on it.
Haha I love people talking about “unfair” lead and our amazing “night presence”.. Please QQ more.
No one ever said it was “amazing,” just that it was more than either of our servers have. Additionally, a lead, is a lead, is a lead. You’re being targeted because, in the standings, you’re in first place and that number will only grow if neither of us overtake you before the night by a substantial amount. It’s entirely possible that you’ll have no night presence tonight at all, but it’s a precaution we’re taking to avoid an unpleasant surprise in the morning, similar to the one we got with Dragonbrand last week.
It’s entirely possible that you’ll still win regardless, but that means you’ll just have to deal with the high tier servers taking all of your stuff at night.
Wait, I hope your referring to standings in the live match, because standings wise your both above us.
And secondly, you guys quipped over a 5g lead on the first day? Really?
…Of course I’m referring to standings in the live match; those are the only numbers that matter to me. Tier placement just serves as a measure of population, a measure that will remain inaccurate for several weeks excepting the case of the top 4 servers who have consistently remained in or near those spots.
And it’s a 5k lead that you’re still holding onto by 3k, so yeah. 5k will only get worse if we don’t do something about it. Which is what happened with DB.
…
Your one of those people that run to the ER with a paper cut aren’t you?Abusive ad hominem attacks don’t serve to further your point any or help your credibility.
Oh this is amusing.. Thank you.

All you twits have done is insured that no matter what, EB wins. Even if we lose. Because if we lose, it took both of you to do it.
If you were REAL pvp’rs, you shut up and put up, and wouldn’t need to outnumber your opponent to win.
Go ahead, keep coming 100 to out 20, we’ll keep holding you off.
How are people complaining about death costs in this game? I make more money in a single drop then I do in a single death.
Personally I’ve always preferred Dub v Dub
My pride says stay on Borlis Pass, but my sanity says run very far away.

Just my two cents:
Hang in there. All these large guilds that are transferring to the high pop servers so they can say their #1 are gonna be stuck with 1 of 2 situations.
1)Being able to brag about how they’re number 1, even though chances are “they” never had a thing to do with it as they spend all their time in que.
2)Paying for a server transfer to a lower pop server which is great for us as it balances things out, however will cost them money.
So I say, stay where your at, enjoy that you can WvW whenever you want without ques, and maybe focus on getting a good server community going.
Besides let’s be honest here. Winning a battle in this game is much more fun then winning the war when your out popped. If my server gets its behind whooped because we can’t keep up with the opposing zerg, but my guild can hold a keep and have an amazingly epic battle while at it… I’m good.
And the best part is, I’m not sitting in que killing boars while listening to my guildmates have all the fun in TS.
Get out of dodge arrow.
That’s about the only time I use it. Yea it isn’t much due to the delay and short distance, but when your running from a pack of 40+ enemies in WvW, every few feet helps:)
@ everyone responding to OP
can you guys seriously not sense the overwhelming presence of sarcasm in his post?
His point is that HS spam is not doing as much damage as everyone is claiming “OP”. Not to mention that people facing against HS spam are terrible at avoiding said HS spam.
I was wondering…. But you can never be to sure these days 8|
In a perfect world, yes… however the original intent probably involved our enemies doing more then just standing there.
In short, stop standing there. We’re extremely squishy and most would find out just how squishy if they didn’t alt-tab to the forums to cry about it every time they see a thief coming for them. (Not saying you OP, just in general.)
Oh wow! I use this in every fight that I’m running daggers. Such a powerful tool, especially when there are multiple mobs.
Yea ive seen this too.. I don’t know if I have had it do it 100%, not saying you haven’t, but it is quite often.
I’m sure it will get fixed shortly. Should be a simple fix.
Wait wait wait…
I can’t tell if troll,
or just really bad at math…
Gotta disagree. We take down groups much larger then us all the time. Personally I think it adds a really neat dynamic as you have to keep pushing the enemy or they will rez and come back easily. As long as you keep pushing your fine. If you over extend the enemy is able to make a counter push, rez a few bodies, and push on.
