Dungeon running is huge cash. Spvp no repair bill for dying. WvW unless you just follow the herd and flip camps is a giant cash sink. They need to allow karma and/or badges to be used for upgrades. No other aspect of the game cost you money to do.
when i first hit 80 i had about 150k karma saved up, the first thing i did was go and buy invader’s rare quality gear from a WvW vendor, also today I just bought an accessory for 200 badges, did you not know these existed?
LOL this issue has been going on for 7 months and STILL has not been fixed
I just ran the KMark(PhyscX) Test with music enabled option, the GF OC Test (GL4), and least but not last the GPU Burn-In Test where the 3D API was Direct3D 11 & the 3D object was MSI, if these tests weren’t enough proof please feel free to tell me the exact tests to run….temperatures never went above 78 degrees celecius, here is a link to the test http://www.ozone3d.net/msi_kombustor/score_200.php?id=133539
ok even switching out to a completely different cable and the type of connection (DVI——> HDMI) i still get monitor disconnect, further proving its the horrific client this game has….end of story IMHO.
ok well i got an HDMI display working…. as it took so long for my last episode to happen it might be awhile before i report back ( if i go 4 days w/o a disconnect i will update everyone)
I’m considering switching out my DVI cable to an HDMI, i first tried this but was unsuccessful, is there anything special I need to know to do this?
yes the xfx 7770 card seems to be outnumbering the others in this particular issue, but the fact of the matter is that it is not the only card experiencing this problem, also, if my card only has a problem with one application, it seems like that would be the applications fault, not my cards…however you’d like to look at it though.
I just got this god kitten f—king error again, i went for a solid 3-4 days without it then boom middle of wvw running around following my commander not even in combat just running around doing jack squat it happens
in reply to above post : this is the PSU im using http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139046

those are bad too but were implemented by anet and nothing can really be done about that, but sad to say community driven type of dueling like this only makes things worse, also these are very minor in my opinion….if we go get a keep or what have u ill quickly go get the vista, if i dont then no big deal, i dont divert for very long, maybe a minute total…
What would you do?
Personally, I’d:
- Buy all legendary weapons from TP.
- Fill my entire bank with crafting materials.
- Discover all the crafting recipes of the game.
- Discover the maximum amount of character slots.
- Buy all the expensive TP skins of the game.
- Buy all the cultural armor skins of the game. Now you know what to do with your next million dollar!
sell it for real life money…..
if there was a down vote button i’d use it for the OP, personally i see this as a complete waste, and it interferes with WvW, all around just bad..
i was highly considering rolling an engineer and using my warrior to farm the legendary materials, now that i’m reading this thread it is almost a 100% turn off now, thanks for the head up OP, i was not aware of this…..

So to understand in-game things we must go online and search for a blog…And we’re to know that there is a blog that explains things how? Not in-game of course.

Yes.
A 30 minute timed refund feature would be nice. Buy something like that from the laurel vendor, find out something that makes you go “wait, I dont want this” and be able to immediately return it. That would fix problems like this.
although this is a a great feature and every mmo has it now a days, i don’t see anet doing this, they seem too stubborn
haven’t you guys played other MMOs though? they use the term unique also… i believe RIFT does, and i know WoW does…
Refer to my earlier quote, if someone wasn’t playing Rift or WoW, they would have no idea unique means you can only equip 1, especially if it allows you to buy it. in EQ it was called Lore item.
fair enough, in that case then you’re just out of luck, but i still agree there should be a resell option, the whole not knowing about unique can really be an arguement for anything, oh well i didn’t know X stat wasn’t the best for my class, why wasn’t i told… nothing is ever explained directly in the tooltip of an item, as it shouldn’t be.

I am also having a “Like” Issue. I am using a Radeon HD4800 updated drivers. When I log in Every 5 minutes my game will lock up for 10-30 seconds and then run… After 4/5 times of doing this it will have a “Critical Graphics” error and crash. I just bought this game and have only had 20 minutes of played time. Very frustrating.
this does not sound anything at all like the issues everyone else is having in this thread….
3) I suspect that some of these issues MAY be sound related (doesn’t sound related to your video issue, but it’s worth a try). Try setting all the sound sliders to the middle or lower.
).
i forgot to mention this, no excuses of course, but when the problem was persisting, which it isn’t anymore, i was trying nearly every single solution and this was one of them that i did the same day i installed W8 and a clean reinstall of gw2. I set all of my audio settings to low quality in the options menu, some point in the day the problem disapeared, as i’ve said though im no tech expert and its very hard to point and say that this WAS what stopped the problem from happening….
well this issues wasn’t happen when i first started playing the game, and now it is, my graphics card has not changed —- the game has…. also if this was my card i would be experiencing it with other games, this only happens in guild wars. tech support even admitted that it might be the client
RELEVANT: "Thanks for getting back to us. To answer your question, yes it’s possible that this issue could be related to the latest patch. The steps we provide are in an effort to rule out all possibilities. I previously told you we were about out of options, and as such if you’re not willing to reseat your card then it’s likely that the issue is due to the latest build and as such there’s nothing further we can do other than hope ArenaNet is able to address it in a future build. "

If ‘downclocking’ your GPU fixes the problem, then you have found the problem. It’s one (or both) of the following:
1) Your graphics card IS defective.
2) Your graphics card is failing due to heat (which you said isn’t the problem).
I recommend replacing the graphics card.
i don’t think that’s the case… i downclocked and now my problem is solved, but really who knows it could have just resolved itself, its the kittening client, lets make that clear, not anyone hardware, all of our hardware must be broken then.
It is FAR too easy to stalk someone in this game.
-People can add you to friends without your knowledge or permission and see everything about you.
- Even if you BLOCK someone, they can still see if you’re online, (via their friendslist) what toon you’re on and where you are in the world.
- There is no option to sign in invisible. So if an unstable person has friended you, and sees you log in and then quickly switch to offline. They start sending you in-game mail calling you out.
- If you appear offline, people can still watch you and see if you move locations.
All this stuff needs to be corrected!
I propose:
1. There should be a way to LOG IN invisible. And when you’re invisible, your location should NOT update!!!!!
2. No one should see your account name until you add them to friends. They party userface kind creeps me out.
3. When someone wants to add you to friends, IT SHOULD ASK YOUR PERMISSION before they are allowed to see your account name and every toon you log on.
4. When you block someone…they should see you as offline. Always. They should have NO information about you ever again until you unblock them. Not even what server you’re on.
Anet, I’m begging you to please do something about these major privacy issues.
Thanks for reading guys, let me know if i missed anything.
now people can see your name (if you happen to be on the top 100) in the leaderboards, I personally don’t like that feeling. I’d like to get 6000 achieve pts but then I’d have tons of internet publicity….feels like of awkward to me?
Dailies are horrible. In every game. The fastest way to make a game go from fun to a job…is adding dailies. And if you add a daily that rewards a currency type that is attainable in no other way…it’s just plain kitten poor design.
Anything that forces players to feel like the MUST log in DAILY or fall behind on their quest for whatever they want is terrible. When I get home from a long day at work, finish dinner, put the kid to bed, and feel like kicking back and watching a little TV or reading a book before bed…but suddenly remember “Oh Crap, I have to log in and get my daily for that stupid Laurel”…I get overcome with a desire to punch someone. Well, ok, not overcome :-)…but seriously, who thinks this is a reasonable way to treat the player base?
I’m sorry…that came out more rant-like than I intended…but the whole idea of dailies just makes me angry.
Give 30 laurels or 40 laurels or whatever you want for the monthly and just give gold and exp and karma for the stupid dailies already. Or 7 for weeklies that can be finished in a single play session.
Dailies. Are. Poor. Design.
/rant off
I agree OP dailies in any game are a bad idea, the concept remains the same for all of them. Personally I don’t mind them as much here than in others, but that does not mean that there isn’t room for improvement. I truly believe that a weekly achievement versus a daily wouldn’t hurt anyone, but it also would make life hell of a lot easier to manage around for people who prefer not to log on some days. After all, games should be, and are being focused around the casual player in todays industry…
Also as I stated I dont think a weekly would hurt the hardcore player either, they can still do there’s all in one day or one at a time…
As it stands, the server I am on (Jade Quaggan) is always first. We always, ALWAYS win (the one time we didn’t was because of an exploit!) and as such we are always Green. This makes WvW Map completion very difficult to get. Can we please just have the colour randomized?
So wait you ALWAYS win but are incapable of taking other servers garrisons/keeps/towers to get your completion ?!?!?!?
Yes, it may seem strange but this is true. If you are on a strong server and win but are facing strong opposition, the enemy will always have core centers upon which it can rely and which it will defend strongly.
BG and SoR EB keeps in T1 are really good examples. Taking them as a JQ attacker is very very difficult – those servers are not in T1 by accident!
In addition on the rare occasions we take them we usually cannot hold them for long.
Rotating spawns in WvW would equalize the battlefield. As a side-effect, it would also allow world completion for those that have been waiting for it for weeks or months, especially on server groups where the opposing forces are well organized and the battlefield tends to remain static for long periods of time.
and what about the people on the other side who are getting stomped out, so you’re 90% map completion and they’re 10%, and you’re complaining? wtf

i still dont understand what the OP is talking about? its harder to get map completion the less territory you control. period.
talk about strange… i’ve accumulated about 8 hours of play since i changed the clock speeds and i haven’t gotten a single disconnected….and this was the only thing i changed since then.
the two previous steps i had taken were installing windows 8 (yes random but figure it might help, and i had a cd key lying around which was previously bought), and reinstalling the game completely…..both of which hadn’t done anything
(edited by Fathme.5216)
Likely by paying attention when it doesn’t go up the first time.
its just as easy to say it in a patch note….bad argument
just played for 2 hours straight i think this fixed the problem eton, thank you very much!
well, interestingly enough my clock speeds are lower by default then yours, even if i overclocked it… I guess I can try underclocking from 1000-950 etc, heres a screen:
i haven’t tricked downclocking yet…. but i know for certain that the settings have no affect for me, game could be on min or max settings etc
add this to the numerous problems i am having with the game…. i try to move… NO THE GAME IS GOING TO AUTOMATICALLY TRY AND WHISPER SOMEONE
I’m currently emailing back and forth to technical support over the past few days and at the moment I’m being told to reseat my graphics card, but i just do not see the possibility of all of us having a physical connection issue with our cards…
Maybe we can give some more information on this issue.. I’ll try and start.
When the disconnect of the monitor occurs, the computer makes the brief sound that you would hear the moment the computer starts up —- the screen goes black and I get a DVI signal loss message, audio in the background continues to play (Youtube music streaming). I have (probably not a smart idea) tried reconnecting the DVI cable WHILE this issue is happening and I am STILL not getting a connection, meaning the ONLY thing available to do it to hold down the power button on the computer and turn it off.
i don’t believe people who say they aren’t lagging…either you aren’t in any huge battles or you’re just lying…seriously.
from experience get one that looks comfortable ( i mean you really can’t know for sure if you buy online), i have a microsoft one that ear foam fell off and its a pain to use (too cheap to buy another). but it is 100% worth the money to get a quality mic
something like….http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826104214
personally wouldnt go with razer or any of that garbage stuff….logitech if im replying on anything audio..
yes its strange i dont play frequently so i can’t recall when exactly this started happening but i replaced my old 6670 ddr3 card in december and i wasn’t having this issue, or it might be a game update really dont know, as of now im using the beta drivers, which i just switched from the release ones yesterday and it has not made a difference..no point in switching back i figure
that’s weird that we have the exact same graphics card etonmessy, also to clarify, you are correct the issue is NOT, repeat its NOT the problem that UserX linked, this is a COMPLETELY different issue…
I’m going to update this post to hopefully get a reply, here are some fixes i have tried while talking to tech support with anet:
-limiting the cpu usage to 99%
-transfering the Guild Wars 2 folder out of c:/program files/… and making a shortcut and running as administrator
-checking temperatures of my CPU and GPU under heavy load (WvW..), never went above 55c (that’s great, its not overheating, not even close at all)
-
also tried the fixes in this thread and the ones stickied at the top of this forum
ANY SUGGESTIONS??
the fact that u lvl up with crafting, beautiful. WvW its amazing. the mists pvp….needs more variety, seriously, but i love it too. the storyline, epic. everything is just really really good. i dont even understand how people can complain, dont get me wrong i read the threads and comments, but their all senseless to me =/. the game is nr1 without a doubt, this isnt even a biased comments cause i PLAYED a LOT of mmorpgs, and GW2’s nr1 status is no lie.
the one thing im noticing as i level up (currently 70) is a lack of character progression outside of achievments, i don’t have a sense that my character is becoming more powerful, just that im gaining levels, which is the whole basis of an MMO of any sort —- is that your data is saved on an online database and you progress through the game; it doesn’t feel that way at the moment though..please reply if you think im wrong
can a community coordinator please acknowledge this issue, it has made the game become unplayable and its certainly not good for the health of my computer…
I’ve tried all of the fixes and nothing has worked…
this happen to me when i was playing around with overclocking the gpu, but only in that instance, it has not happen otherwise
same issue with 7770 card….. i can’t play gw2 because of this
accidentally moved it, dont know how either.. just need to figure out how to move it back to the default bottom left.. anyone?
Yea, I’ve tried overclocking it before, but was unsuccessful in using AMD OverDrive, I have not attempted the manual OC through the BIOS; personally it seems like too much of a hassle to go into that every time i want to set it back to normal clock speeds, so i just don’t do it. But yes, a lot of strange things happen when i OC mostly just game crashes and stuttering when browsing the web; the start menu will change its style along with windows, having smaller Close, Restore, and minimize options (top right)… I will most likely just get a new motherboard as you say, and also a new cpu…
I highly recommend using the BIOS rather than software if you want to overclock. If you do it properly and get a stable overclock in the BIOS with reasonable temps and voltages, there’s not much reason to switch back to stock speed. Even then, many motherboards will let you save profiles, so you can save your overclocked settings (or multiple overclocks) and quickly swap as you start up.
it’s just extra wear and tear on the cpu if you overclock it 24/7 though, no?
Your problems with overclocking your current processor are most likely due to your motherboard. The board most likely can’t handle the stress of the overclock (VRM isn’t meant to supply higher voltages, and has no heatsink). If you want to get a good overclock with any chip, you’ll need a new motherboard. Something like
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128519
or
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128514
should allow you to overclock your current processor or an upgrade (both will support up to an FX8350).The other possibility is that your CPU is overheating, so I’d add aftermarket cooling if you don’t have it already. If you add much voltage at all you’ll hit the thermal limits of your CPU pretty quickly on stock cooling, and there’s no reason to risk frying your hardware when a $30 cooler can keep things reasonably under control.

Actually, the AMD FX-8350 holds the world record for the highest stable overclock speedOff topic, but that wasn’t really a “stable” overclock.

thanks for the reply sheer, didn’t know that about my motherboard, and you’re right the 8350 looks like a good choice as its the best benchmarked amd cpu. thanks again!
I was thinking of getting an i7-3770 or an i5-2500k, mainly uncertain weather the latter is going to cut it or not.
Hey all, I haven’t been playing GW2 that much so I don’t know if things have changed but I used to get very good FPS on my current build, but when zoning into WvWvW, not surprisingly, my fps would drop to about 10-15. I am assuming this is because i played on ultra and my processor was the bottleneck of the build. Below are my specs, take a look and tell me what you think needs upgrading in order for me to play @ max settings in wvwvw.
XFX AMD Radeon R7770 Core Edition
8G Ram
AMD FX-4100 processor
Gigabyte GA-78LMT-S2 Motherboard
Standard 7200RPM HDD
Really the only variables in this is either the graphics card or the processor, usually. I;m thinking that the fx-4100 is really bringing down my card, as I cannot overclock it without my computer hard locking or black screening so I haven’t played GW much, if at all.
TL;DR —- What should I upgrade in other to play comfortably on max settings in wvwvw?
(edited by Fathme.5216)
I play on Blackgate, which is high population yea. and no im not ok with waiting more than even 15minutes to get some action i dont have all day to play….not sure why anyone would be OK with that
Seriously not a troll post.
But is it normal to have to wait 30minutes to get into WvW — specifically Eternal Battlegrounds?
if by black screen you mean my monitor becomes unresponsive, but the sound and everything continues to play, then yes. no alternative but to hard restart the computer, really kind of annoyed. isn’t pressing the power button on your computer unhealthy for the hardware? i thought i heard it corrupts the hdd and causes parts of it to become unwritable, not a tech expert though..
edit: i had AMD OverDrive enabled for my GPU, my appologies. Also the problem did start happening when i was tweaking with the CCC.
(edited by Fathme.5216)
i know the OP is 4 months old but just a heads up to any technical support experts here, the problem is still here, ive had it happen twice so far in AC dungeon. First time i had to hard restart, the second i used ctrl alt del and ended the task ( game went unresponsive)

thats the issue i got from windows after i was forced to end the task, if it helps….hopefully we can see a fix soon…
(edited by Fathme.5216)
yes the radeon 7770 HD is a very solid choice, i got mine for 100 dollars over christmas, the xfx version. it does very well in gw2, only time you need to turn down the settings from ultra is in very intensive WvW battles, (which is a result of my crappy CPU), so really u can get away with max on 7770
