i tried it once so far on my mesmer. not sure its going to work out too well on this class since so much damage comes from shatter

So my dumb survey question is, are any of you running a certain build (even in wvw) just because you have weapon skins that looks cooler/prettier? :P haha
with transmutation stones, gear can look any way you want it. so i fail to see how this could be an issue
question about the runes of the eagle you say to use. wouldnt that put you too far past the soft cap on crit to be worthwhile once you have full exotics, plus ascended? like it wouldnt it almost be wasted stats since you would gain so little from it
im coming back from a very long break. are these builds still good to use? were they any changes made afterwards to the class that would make this not work as well? i like the idea of the first one(phantasm build) and want to try it out as i try to get back into the game

I would love to see a Parasitic bond that is more like the GW1-version: you curse a target and when
a) it dies
b) the curse runs out
c) the curse gets removed
you get health.
that would be awesome, but to keep it in line with how the necro of GW2 works it would have to
a)do almost no damage
b)last 3 seconds
c)claim to heal you when removed but not actually do it
we dont get anything like that because they have no idea what to do with the class. that or you just need to learn how to master DS
i went to buy all my karma PVT gear, am i missing something or is there no legs with pvt stats for karma?
It SEEMS to slow down after being hit sometimes, until out of combat. Bit weird.

hmm so i assume this one is pretty much strickly PvP if you’re not even talking about ascended rings/backpiece. looks interesting, might give it a try sometime. I actually decided to give up my quest for a legendary weapon(none “fit” the necro enough for me to care) so im taking my karma and getting the PVT gear from those vendors since im too lazy to grind the dungeons

why should a dagger, that is for single target damage, have any sort of AoE damage? lol
THIS is why the devs can not take these complaints seriously. you have not legitimate reasons to back up your wild, outlandish claims. theres /some/ aoe with the off hand dagger if you want. or switch to the staff which is all AoEs

isnt the signet still only 10%? the buff says 10% even though the tool tip says 25 and it really didnt feel the same as it doesn’t when i run around on my thief with signet of shadows on
Anet has proven how out of touch they are with the necro playerbase. its as simple as that
the part about poison made me laugh though. lets assume we’re in a situation where you absolutely need poison(lolwut), a thief can do it so much better with a shortbow equipped its not even funny. how can they make a post like that or a patch like this with a straight face?

so i guess we can all officially agree they have no idea what they want to do with the necro class, i mean its not like theres any legit reason for the lack of proper changes to the things the class actually needs still 4 months after release
oh cool, our kittenty useless jagged horrors are still kittenty and useless.
apparently they have no interest in making the necro class useful. so glad they spent all this time on underwater skills, because we do so much water combat outside of when we’re forced to do it in fractals or HoTW

so when the game lunched, you couldn’t salvage jewelry that were drops/map completion. finally they fix that at the same time they add rare and exotic back pieces to the loot tables, yet those can not be salvaged. will this change?
with how alot of the players post and talk to Anet. the fact that all they do is occasionally sound condescending or mention “troll” is amazing. i dont know how they stop themself from telling people off completely when people make completely idiotic posts that deserve much more than that

i came here to make this thread, then i found this one so i’l just post here. this was very short sighted on behalf of the person/people that decided for it to work this way.
the benefit of an offensive slot is MASSIVELY outweighed by the cost, no matter if you go for the relic infusion or the forge crafted one. 75 relics for a defensive item giving 5 res and 225 relics for 5 res in an offensive is just flat out absurd. so then you may think “well just craft one in the forge, they are better anyway since they have more than just 5 agony res”. ya except they require an idiotic amount of T6 mats/skill points for what you get. someone with 5 more of a stat than someone else on each piece of gear isnt all of a sudden so much strong of a character that it matters in the end, screw people’s kitten, the kitten needs to be reasonable and right now the relic cost and the material/skill point cost are NOT reasonable for +5 of a single stat
you cant make the amount of extra stats any higher because then it will make everyone feel like offensive is the only way to go because of the bonuses(and rightfully so), so that only leaves with reducing the cost/mat required to make the kitten things.
edit: lets also not forget when you upgrade your back piece in the forge is destroys the infusion you’re using, so if you went for an offensive one you either have to leave it uninfused until you max it out(defeating the purpose of ascended gear), or take the massive hit on what you spent to infuse it to begin with

i have a feeling if they bother to give the class the buffs it needs, they will find some way to also nerf other aspects at the same time, making the buffs only medocire and not really making the class any better. the only reason i think that is because A) the class released in the state it did. and B ) there hasnt been any substantial changes to it since. so why would things change now?
we have death shroud, so we should just L2P….or something like that
just want to add something about food, while the ones listed for this build arent really that expensive. there appears to be a bug in fractals that wipes you food for no apparent reason before the 30min is up. it doesnt affect oils/sharpening stones though, only food.
so right now if you’re using food in a fractal, dont bother wasting the more expensive ones unless you dont care about the cost
32% crit with my set up, however only 9% crit damage all which come from the exquisite beryl jewels i put in the emerald jewelry. 9% is pretty low though so i’m not sure if i’m going to keep it that way or not
im more a PvE player than PvP, so i wonder if using knights armor insead of pwr/vit/toughness would be better? less HP, still alot of toughness but higher crit would mean more damage? maybe still use the crest of the soldier and you would still be sitting on a ton of HP/toughness in end, just maybe not 28-30k, anyone try it out?

You CAN use knight’s armor instead. if you want more damage a the trade-off of vitality, go ahead. the crests will still give you around 1-2k hp and the traits will give you another 2.5k hp.(18.5+2+2.5= 23k so you’re in the green zone)
i went ahead and did full knights armor, with knights weapons. crest of the soldier in all of that. for jewelry i have lost seal of usoku and khilborn’s (until i get a better ascended) emerald ori exotic pieces in the other 3 slots, except i put exquisite beryl jewels in them. i still sit just over 3k attack with like 2995 armor and ~23k HP. its been working out pretty well so far. i find the play style more fun than staff or scepter/dagger

i just bought this entire set last night, i was going to farm TA for it instead but then i realized im too lazy to do that
the gap they bridged was TIME people… TIME…
Its to give us something to go for along the road to legendarys.
except it uses up your legendary materials in order to make. so its in no way something to do “on the way” as it directly puts your legendary on hold
if it takes the same kitten materials(and a lot of them)? if anything it makes the gap larger
its almost like they just dont bother fixing it just to artificially increase the time it takes for players get a legendary finished. there is no reason for the event to STILL be bugged this long after release with out either a fix for it being put in, or a new NPC somewhere else to get shards from temporarily until it is fixed
no way of knowing? the lack of halloween decorations around the city wasnt enough of a sign to you?
Yep, first dungeon run in over a week. completed the hodgins path in ~30min with friends, and was greeted with a slap in the face of 6 tears and 2 silver, only 2 people in our group actually got the proper rewards at the end
