what the kitten, battles last 10 years in this game… You don’t know what a “glass-cannon” is. Have you played any other game but GW2?
OP, we’ve had that burst meta. It was removed because people, “Don’t have the reaction time to counter.” said abilities. Because of the complaints and Anet’s quick roll back of the patch, it’s safe to say we’re never getting another burst meta.
Really? I didn’t play PvP after release because I got rekt there back then lol. But if they change the meta because some noobs cry, thats just sad. PvP should be survival of the fittest with the fastest reactions and not just brainless rotation spamming.
I also believe things are better in WvW. Roamers there often play squishy builds and if I dodge wrong I eat kitten . If A-Net wants a serious PvP scene and not just a kindergarten for low elo players from other games they should react.
A 1v1 shouldn’t last more than a minute. First mistake should lead to a players death. The opportunity to punish an enemie players mistake is what makes a game competetive.
In Buildwars a 1v1 between two not completely trash players will last till the first player has to sleep because even if you make some mistakes your defensive cooldowns will be up in time.
Also it is not fun to play against all those defensive builds and even if you play a full berserker build and hit a full combo on the enemie (like hammer stun+GS 2 skill as warrior, LB knockback and rapid fire on ranger) he will not die.
Edit: Those tanky builds are especially stupid considering the main game mode is capture the flag and one tanky player can hold a point against 2 other guys.

Hello everyone,
there are some good things about GW2 PvP such as the very important combat system of Guild Wars. But a good competetive game needs more than just a good combat system and graphics.
So here is my input on how to improve everyones experience:
1. In its current state, every meta build is far too tanky and thus 1v1s between evenly skilled players will take forever. Even if one makes a mistake, his cooldowns will be up in time so save him. This should not happen in a competetive game which wants to enter E-Sports. People will find it hard to impossible to win 1v1s by skill, they are decided by player rotations.
Possible fix: Make builds less tanky. Even a full tank should not be able to tank attacks forever in my opinion, you also dont have this kind of tank in other PvP games. In LoL and Dota tanks are kitable by squishys, it just takes them a long time. Since those two games are on the top of the competetive scene, you can see how this is an important thing.
2. Another way to adress this issues and also to make the game more interesting is to increase the build diversity. Especially squishy builds need a huge buff. Currently playing glass cannon is pointless cause you trade a little higher damage for a huge portion of your tankyness.
3. Games need to be more exciting. I find that often games are decided within the first teamfight. If the enemie holds close and mid it is very hard to land a comeback. This reduces the tension of the game.
Possible fix: You could introduce more neutral monsters which gives your team a buff by killing them which could turn the game around.
This system already exists on foefire’s essence, temple of the silent storm and Niflhel. But especially the reward you gain from the monsters in Niflhel is neglible and you are better off just holding 2 points.
The story of GW2 is about dragons so why can’t we kill dragons which give huge buffs in PvP? Like a gamechanging buff, but therefore a huge risk in attempting to kill the dragon.
4. Balance. Nothing to say here.
Fix: Have some insider working for you and collecting information of good players in order to make changes instead of listening to some plebs on the forum who think DH is op.
This list is meant to be continued. Just add your thoughts.
kind regards

You won and it was a close game – what the hell are you moaning about here? I get 500-100 games in 5 vs 5 all soloq.
It’s just that 5 premades vs 1+1+1+2 is not fair on paper. And I thought they stated this would not be possible anymore.
The game was good, indeed. But that is just cause that premades probably were drunk and not on Teamspeak.
btw if you see this anet promote me to ruby. I won a game yesterday but didn’t get a pip + it did not show up in my game history… Now I will loose and get back to 0 pips, while I would be Ruby when all had worked as supposed QQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQ Anet plsssss
no, happened 10 minutes ago
You have the ability to change weapon stats at will, so thats a + at least.
since 90% player run zerker for 100% of their time, this is not a thing
Hi,
I know you don’t want GW2 to be too grindy. Still, players should, in my opinion, be rewarded with slightly better stats for their work. Like 1% on the weapons stats or even less. Something which is not noticable, but still the best. It would give an extra motivation aside from the skin and add an end game goal.
What do you think about this idea?
Hello,
1. In real competetive games, mistakes lead to death or a huge disadvantage. In GW2 mistakes lead to nothing. You can fail dodge as often as you want and wont die, even if you 1v2 with a tank nothing will happen. My idea:
Lower defensive specs. Currently, most fights (1v1) can not be won by a player if both are anywhere near to be at the same level (which is the case for 90% of GW2 gamers). You can make many mistakes but your cd’s will be up in time, so the enemie can’t punish the mistakes. This leads to 10 minute long fights which are boring for everyone. No one should say he wonders that just few people watch GW2 ESL games (it is more exciting to watch wet color turn dry).
I do not agree with the Original Post because. Real competitive games allow for mistakes and such mistakes do not always lead to death or “huge disadvantages”.
Before playing Guild wars 1 a few centuries ago, I played counter strike 1.6, and counter strike source (CS:S) at a semi competitive level (yes before the days of twitch and Counter Strike Global Offensive (CS:GO)).
I personally think that counter strike (all versions) is the most competitive PvP game out there and if you actively watch or play it you can easily see in a team fight or 1v1, someone get shot but the “defensive spec” (aka armour) enables the player that made the mistake to live another day. Of course this is different with a headshot…
So to an extent, GW2 is like any other competitive game in terms of giving some allowance to player error in PvP.
Oh I am beginning to miss Counter Strike… One of the best competitive games ever… There is no match making craziness or meta changes every other month. Simple game, and lots of fun and serious skills required… I digress.
Dude… I still play Counter Strike. This game prooves my point. If you peak at a wrong corner, you will get an instant headshot/AWP shot at an higher level. No space for mistakes.
The problem is that leagues have no correlation with MMR at all.
Ah yes. This is also a point I wanted to mention but forgot it. Thank you!
Hello,
I don’t know if I should laugh or cry when I see GW2 wants to be a serious E-sports game. Everyone who has played a real competetive game (not some casual game as GW2) will agree. So here is some advice, if Anet wants GW2 to be taken anywhere near seriously.
2. Introduce a downrank systen. Why can you not drop out of your division if you are too bad? This is just so that people keep playing, eventhough they know they are not good enough for their level. But they can not loose anything. There should be just a tiny percentage of players at the top (diamond and legend), around 5%, or even less, of all players.
3. There is no build variaty in this game. There are probably around 15 builds over all classes which are played in 98% of all ranked games. This is boring and people will just pick up the metabattle number 1 build, without thinking about it.
There are more points I did not mention or I did not think of. Feel free to add your points to the list or share your thoughts.
+1 on OP’s suggestion. People in here seem to have never played an other game but GW2. Most fights take forever. You can even make many mistakes. One player can not kill me if I don’t mess up hard, even if they are full zerker Warrior/thief…
E-Sports at an high level is not only about having good mechanics, but about punishing the enemie for every mistakes he makes [LoL, Dota, CS:GO (real competetive games)].
GW2 PvP in its current state allows to many mistakes to be a serios e-sports game. It is mainly about teamplay, close to nothing about the individual skill. I think that ratio should be 50/50 like in other competetive games.
This is my opinion. I know there will be some fanboys crying who can not reach anything in an other game, but here they get to feel as if they were good cause no skill is needed to be at the top (if you claim legend as top, not esl finals).
Wow I did not knew this guys, very impressive!
I have seen some concerts like this in GW2, too and it is amazing but I don’t know how people are able to do it and it could be a lot easier and lead to even better results
What is Midi? Midi allows you to connect your e-piano or any other controller to the computer. By pressing a note on the controller, the software will recognize it and play the according note. Not the sound of the instrument is transferred to the software, just the notes are.
Hey,
this was already suggested in the forums and via reddit, it got many upvotes. I don’t know how hard it is to impy Midi-Support to a game but it would add so much to the game. Imagine waiting at world bosses and people play amazing music. Or waiting in the Heart of the Mists, LA and other places and listening to music.
For me, eventhough I play many instruments in real life, it is impossible to play the ingame instruments right now. Most people just use macros doing this. This playback stuff has nothing to do with music, which should interact with the world around the musician(s).
Well and I have another idea:
How about playable Pianos standing around at few paces in Tyria, like at waiting areas. Trolling is easy to avoid, you can ofcourse mute those instruments.

so here is my PvE main, Charr warrior. I badly need a legendary, which fits his style :/
Hello,
in my opinion new beard styles are badly needed. The current range of beard styles is poor and the ones you can choose from look artificial.
Also beards got more common over the last years, so you should adapt.

Hi,
it would be really cool and save me and many other players a lot of time if there was an option to save different builds (in terms of traits/specializations).
For example: For roaming in WvW I use other traits/specializations than I do zerging as a shout warrior. Every time I switch between roaming and zerging I need to change my traits, sometimes I end up forgetting it.
Also it would be really cool if you could save different sets for settings( especially Key-Bindings). As a ranger I use an other key-assignment than I do as warrior, since other skills are more important I want to have them on other keys.
I don’t think this would be hard to implement, but this would make my life a lot easier and I don’t see any problem with it.
kind regards,
Feliciano
Make transfers cheaper for players on “full” servers. Pls Anet. And since you are trying to balance WvW, nerf the shatter mesmer.
Ok first step in the right direction but if you really want people to move from the T1 severs, why dont you let them transfer for a decent price. As I have stated in the german forum, over 20€ or 350 gold for transing from SFR/deso/piken/fsp TO a T4/T5/T6 server is still a bad joke.
I know you want to earn some money, but please give me a chance to transfer from SFR to a german server. I wont spend 20€ on a transfer and the overpriced 40€ for HoT.
Have already request a free transfer per support ticket, but since little employees of Anet don’t have any power and don’t want to get in trouble they didn’t follow my wish.
Summary: Good idea, bad realization
Hello,
the warriors stenght traits need to be changed. Currently the “Tier 1-Traits” you can choose are all useless if you play the warrior like it should be played.
Option 1: “Death from above” – Just usefull if you fall down a cliff. -> Usefull for JPs, not needed in PvE and WvW for 99,9% of time.
Option 2: “Restorvative Stenght” – “Using a healing skill deals might” – Nice skill, unfortunately nearly every warrior (in WvW and PvP) runs the healing signet which is not meant to be activated for most of the time, so this skill is also useless.
Option 3: “Peak Performance” – Physical Attacks deal more damage. Only usefull if you use rampage. Since rampage is OP atm no decent warrior would pick it in WvW.
The system should also take into consideration which server you are transing from.
Like it should be cheaper to trans from a kitten a T2 server than from T3 to T2 and so on.
Nothing to add, just another pi**ed off WvW player here
