I was just about to get Dark Harvest and this started happening to me as well.
Other collections seemed to register me getting the sharpening stone but Dark Harvest did not and interacting with the stones causes a client crash.
1. I used to and I would consider going back to it.
2. Back when I used it I treated it as a sort of mock-stability. Since most CC is slow you can really protect yourself when fighting inside it. I got sick of relying on it’s limited area however and swapped it out for well of power since there’s more that skill can do and it has the same cooldown.
3. I think the cooldown is a bit too high for what it is. 40s base would be more sensible. Someone else mentioned adding a stunbreak like well of power. I think that would work as well.
Consume Conditions now gives you a condition because they wanted to add a skill tag to it. They felt like a skill tag would give it a kind of depth because you would be able to trait it, and so they could maybe add more runes for skill tags. Because they gave it a skill tag, they had to raise it’s cooldown, in case you might trait for it. I strongly disagree with this choice, as it invalidates the first point, but they did it with a lot of skills, not just CC.
Then, as a separate decision, they wanted to make the trait for the “corruptions” skill tag more interesting (Again, they did this with many traits among the professions.) To fit the theme of the skills in the first place, they made the recharge more powerful than most, and gave it a penalty.
They then chose poison/bleed for the heal because they already did vuln and those are the second best fits for the inverse to healing. My understanding is that they used transfers like plague signet as justification for your heal doing this to you, and would probably explain themselves by saying it adds counterplay or whathaveyou.
So that’s it, really. It’s a bunch of semi-innocent design choices resulting in a pretty big mess for reasons I feel you already understand.

You could always use the change to your advantage. If you run dagger offhand you can dump those 10 stacks onto an enemy after you heal.
Yeah! And we can use our heal and get some extra HP off of it!
Oh wait.
4 second vulnerability isn’t really worth using those skills. I run well of power, but if I popped that right after I used my heal it would be a huge waste. Consume conditions is supposed to be a condition cleanse /itself/. I took the other skills I have because I want to use them in actual combat with my opponent, not myself.
Rox said in the dungeon that she had a bad history with explosives.
She also has no war band. Likely lost by explosives.
I seem to remember a certain charr who killed his warband with explosives. Everyone’s favorite whispers goofball, Tybalt Leftpaw.
Any thoughts on the possible connection?
What Lux said.
This is even more true now that there are solo ques. Not having a full 5 man premade is no longer an issue. There is simply no excuse for logging into hotjoins other than to farm glory/get top score dailies.
Hopefully custom arenas will be a more intuitive system for stress free PvPing.
We have some crazy talented people in our cinematics department.
The key word here being crazy.
I thought that was addressed awhile back and fixed? I also wonder though do food buffs and such show up? I am worried to use them in wvw.
My bad then, I was never aware, I figured there would be a bigger ruckus. I guess the forum only cares about bad things. (What else is new?)
I almost had a heart attack when I saw that titles were displayed below your name now. I had no faith in Arenanet applying it to clones. Thankfully they did the right thing, but I have to ask…
Now that they’ve revamped the UI, does that mean that the map completion star is on clones now? I’ve been putting off goal-oriented exploration because of it so far.
You’ll find out soon.
You wouldn’t post that if the answer wasn’t yes.

Please fill your build out with this so we know where to start giving you advice to make it fit sPvP.
Same for the Necro thread you posted.
Derk is correct, it’s mostly for support, though it’s number two deals decent damage.
I run it when I run minions, because the vulnerability will increase the damage from them.
It’s also worth noting that necromancer power damage seems to be based around the idea of stacking up massive vulnerability.
I happen to be a condition staff Mesmer.
" a lot of phase retreats and auto attacking" can just about sum it up indeed. I think most of your mental energy and spells go into kiting and making sure your clone placement is good. I’ve found it to be fairly involving myself, but I lack another full level 80 with which to compare it, sadly.
Minions are not nessesary.
Minions are cool, (I run a power/minion necro) but by no means is building into them a requirement.
That’s a fairly generic build, plenty of people run that. You should be fine.
what are the correct sayings? all i know is “All things have a right to grow”
The other one listed was “Never leave a wrong to ripen into evil.”
EDIT: In total we have
I. Live life well and fully, and waste nothing.
II. Do not fear difficulty. Hard ground makes strong roots.
III. The only lasting peace is the peace within your own soul.
IV. All things have a right to grow. The blossom is brother to the weed.
V. Never leave a wrong to ripen into evil or sorrow.
VI. Act with wisdom, but act.
VII. From the smallest blade of grass to the largest mountain, where life goes—so, too, should you.

I can see why you might want to use it in a zerg, but the only times I could think of that would make that helpful is during a big battle, where the seed will likely be near insta-killed.
Maybe it’s my greed talking, but I always take ether feast. I think it’s more important to know I can take care of myself than to try and take unreliable care of my allies.
Also, it’s hardly on topic, but I agree with Dastion, take root is awesome.
I <3 defensive elites.
I don’t think your claim is very well supported. You just point out that neither side has any real proof.
More importantly however, I think your claim is irrelevant to the major concern at hand.
Usually, when people are talking about the forum goers being the minority, they are referring to the many complaints this forum sees. The backup for this argument is that people simply DO NOT post if they are content. Even if they are ecstatically happy, they probably won’t come to the official forums to mention such. However, if something is bothering that person, they are most certainly going to want to get their voice heard on the matter. Content people on the other hand, even those who go on the forums, such as myself, won’t bother adding to those threads most of the time, as a simple “I’m cool with it” doesn’t add helpful discussion.
It is… underwater.
But really now, the extra life bar will help you wait out your ticks.
1) 18 year old Male
2) Fairly so. I can live without it, but I like having one there. It’s good as an entry point into the lore.
3) That depends, but for this game in particular I found myself much more interested in events and their impact on the world.
4) “A separate entity which I created” Would be a perfect discription. I still wish he didn’t speak however, as I always give my customized characters my own personality in my head.
5) As per the story, I felt like the game generally had all the power over me.
6) That depends on the personality I assign to that character. My main’s desires could best be summed up as “let’s faff about with mesmer magic!” This can kind of be applied to everything in the game, so that works out well.
7) The one thing that really stood out to me is how the levels progressed in comparison to the urgency of the story. For example, the story would say "Oh no X is in danger we have to save him/her/it ASAP. Then the instance ends and the game says “Okay, time to goof off for 5 levels.” It’s okay that we don’t have to hurry, but that fact that we were forced to take our time troubled me.
8) Doesn’t bother me at all. People also bought the same single player game as me, didn’t they?
9) As I said before, it serves as a nice entry point to the bigger lore. Showing you around the world so you can ask yourself things like “What happened here exactly?”
I had trouble on this mission myself.
I too am a sylvari mesmer, and I basically did all the story missions five levels under recommendation, so I don’t think your build/playstyle is the problem.
Anyway, you know how he wants you to test his weapon?
Ignore him; it’s not actually required of you, and that thing is uber-terribad.
If I’m wrong or you just really want to use the polorizer, just never lose the third charge and keep your clone spam ultilites/anything else that will help you kite, that’s what I ended up doing after feeling like ignoring the weapon was illegitimate.
The problem is that people WILL demand 1v1 balance, which would require changing up the entire game.
The mesmer for example is a duelist by definition. They basically never lose 1 on 1 battles in sPvP. If dueling was introduced, people would complain, and we would have quite the mess on our hands.
Arenanet choose to balance for a group PvP game, so that’s what we get.
Try using temporal curtain’s pull-in ability, or if you’re using a sword, illusionary leap’s stun.
It does quite a bit of damage as it is now, so I don’t mind having to work a little harder to get it to hit.
