Code 7 - Disconnect

FluffyFox.2756

It’s just really frustrating that most instanced content cannot be rejoined. The instance should be left open for cases like this. Dungeons, fractals, and I think even raids allow one to re-enter if they have been disconnected. Why not other instanced content? Then this issue would be, at most, a minor inconvenience.

It can also be frustrating for mapwide meta events, getting disconnected and joining a dead map is not fun.

Do any other players happen to experience a lot of disconnects where it kicks you back to the character select screen (code 7) during instanced content? This has been bugging me for a while, and I’m not certain of the cause.
This thread made me think of it, and as mentioned in that thread, most recently (and a time or two it has been attempted in the past) the final instance with Mordremoth, for the Migraine achievement… usually the instance is fairly long, and it feels like I get kicked out around 20 to 30 minutes in.

I am just wondering if this is isolated or not.

I agree that it is not an immediate issue, but, I fear it will become one down the road. Even now, T6 on Dry Top is very uncommon, and it feels like the Verdant Brink meta has a very low success rate.

Old maps, high population meta events

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: FluffyFox.2756

FluffyFox.2756

Starting with Living World Season 2, there has been a trend of maps that have a map-wide series of events or objectives that require a fairly high player population to progress or be successful. I know myself and many other players have enjoyed this design, and coordinating events map-wide with many other players can be enjoyable, especially if they end in a boss or series of bosses, like the Silverwastes.

There is a problem, however, that I feel has become more and more pronounced as the game continues to grow, and more of maps of this type are released. When Heart of Thorns launched, every single map that launched with the expansion contained a map-wide meta event, and everything was fine for the most part because the content was fresh, new, and everyone was doing it. Poor Silverwastes and Dry Top began to experience lulls of downtime where the meta events had difficulty progressing and failing due to lower player populations, unless it was during peak time. As the game continues to be developed, this issue will only continue to grow.

With the arrival of Path of Fire, I imagine the difficult map events for Heart of Thorns will reach a similar state to that of Silverwastes and Dry Top, where one needs to log in during peak weekend times in order to have a shot at completing the metas, or, organize events to do so, as some groups have taken it upon themselves to do to reach T6 in Dry Top via Reddit, for example.

This issue is especially dangerous to new players who may not have the means to organize in such a way or cannot play during peak times for whatever reason. Imagine we’re another expansion or two down the road, and a new player needs to get Heart of Maguuma masteries, but the maps are dead… what a nightmare!

I’m sure there are many possible solutions to this issue, but here’s a couple that I feel are most likely to be considered:

1.) Scale back the difficulty of the maps based on player population
This one would be difficult/expensive to implement for what is effectively content that is no longer profitable. It also does not offer incentive for veterans to play this content.

2.) Do nothing.
Maybe this is a non-issue that is being blown out of proportion, and nothing needs to be done.

3.) Offer mystic coins for completion of the meta.
Players complain about the lack of availability of mystic coins, perhaps add a reward once per day for receiving the coins, much like the Legendary Ley-Line Anomaly event, or, add the events randomly to the pool of dailies and have the reward be a mystic coin, much like the mystic forger daily.

Feedback, thoughts, opinions, all are welcome! Thank you for taking the time to read my thread.

Sustained Condition Build?

So I know this was a thing before the trait update patch, to have a rabid build that focuses on having clones crit to deliver conditions, but now it seems like all the condition traits are based on shatters.

Is there a non-shatter condition build still? or is that not a thing anymore. Does anyone have any post-specialization builds they’d like to recommend?

What has more value between these stats:

Healing Power and Toughness.

I know that this question could have a lot of answers, and it’s contextually important to know what class and build, etc.

I’m playing a might stacking warrior, with healing signet, and healing shouts. My armor is a blend of zerker, cleric, and zealot (a pretty even blend, at that), didn’t opt for vit because of warrior’s naturally high hp pool.

I am asking because I want to know which infusions to slot into my defensive infusion slots later on, I know that these infusions make little difference (5 stats per slot? so tiny…) but they DO add up (40 total extra points, could make a difference!)

I’m curious as to what people think is overall more worth it between the two stats, all opinions welcome ( I mean, except for the obligatory “why not just go full zerker?” :P)

[Suggestion] Improve Ground Targeting system

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: FluffyFox.2756

FluffyFox.2756

I remember suggesting this a little under half a year ago, but it was shot down because some people thought it took “skill” away from the game to have it in.
OP:
“So, I don’t know if this annoys anyone else, but for ground-targeted skills, if I’m trying to do something really fast, like a teleport or shadow step, it irritates me to no end if I accidentally click just barely outside the range and it completely cancels the skill, so I have to try again. Would it be possible to add in a game option to allow skills cast outside of their range to instead act as though they were simply cast at their max range?

Does anyone have any questions, comments, agreements or disagreements? Would love to hear it."

Have one stand back and plink at her with a fast ranged attack, have the other run up to her, when they get close, she’ll try to knock them back, then you dodge roll, and run up to her again and stomp. The ranged auto will keep her from ever using the shield since it interrupts her. Also, both players will get the achieve

I don’t think anyone would argue against wanting new skills, especially new weapon skills. The biggest limitation is how quickly Anet can produce said skills, and balance them accordingly… and considering all that’s been added to the game since launch is one all-class heal, and 8 class-specific heals, I’d say that new weapons skills are a loooooooooooooooong way off :P

Are we the villain? [SBI]

FluffyFox.2756

I haven’t kept up with the politics of WvW. I don’t know what servers do or did what, I didn’t really care up until last week when we were getting double teamed by YB and EB. I went to look on the forums to see what caused such an alliance… and I’ve come to find out that pretty much everyone hates SBI o.O

It seems to me that SBI has a track record of gloating and being kitteny, which naturally would stir up anger from other servers. Now, I dunno about you, but I don’t really like being a villain. I don’t gloat on the battlefield unless it was a long, hard, very evenly matched duel that I barely managed to win (which usually just means I do /sleep next to their body or something silly), and I certainly don’t brag about our servers’ strength on the forums.

I would like to try and take the first step in rebuilding our server’s reputation by apologizing to any server we may have upset or trash talked due to some vocal players and their “chest thumping” (a term I see thrown around a lot on here), and I would especially like to apologize for any server that has been griefed or had to deal with cheaters (this is not a problem exclusive to SBI, and the fact that people even do it is disgusting, but I have had heard reports of rogue SBI’ers cheating and griefing other servers.)

WvW community deserves better than this. I hope in time we can be forgiven. Cheers, and have a good final week of WvW season 1.

Very immature response from a mature person, i think you lack the integrity to judge wether this discussion is mature or not.

No, I agree with Mad Queen Malafide. Anytime someone brings up the “If you don’t like it, don’t play it” argument, then they basically have no argument. People don’t want to simply stop playing a class they like because it’s underpowered or undesirable in parties, etc, they want the game to be balanced so that NOT every optimal setup is the same zerk guard/warr/mes fiasco we’ve seen since the launch of the game.

Basically, by saying you don’t care that a class is underpowered, then you’re actually saying you don’t give two kittens about class balance… and considering this thread is about class balance, well… you put it together :P

WvW has a plethora of rewards, including its own unique badges of honor. It doesn’t really need glory.

Activities, on the other hand, give like… what, one of those little chests per game where you get a blue and 300 karma? I don’t think glory is off the table, albeit it should be a reduced amount compared to spvp.

[Merged]1year post launch. How Anet feel on Trinity?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: FluffyFox.2756

FluffyFox.2756

I don’t think the trinity is the root of the problem. I believe that people could care less about the trinity in and of itself, but people DO want to feel like they’re doing something to contribute to the party in a unique way; Something to make someone feel desirable, as it were.

It is my opinion that the reason people get bored with combat in this game is because there are no adequate replacements for the trinity. The whole “DPS, Control, Support” triad we have currently going on is fundamentally flawed, and it basically just boils down to DPS. Additionally, combo fields were meant to make combat more engaging, but the whole combo system is a bit of a bore. I hardly pay attention to fields that are not water or fire, and anything but a blast finisher is basically pointless, or has so little effect that it’s not worth the effort to really do.

Common misconception. That’s what dps is in other trinity-based games. Tank stands in front and takes damage, healer stands behind and heals damage, dps just stands there and does their dps rotation.

Here you have damage mitigation and healing abilities as well as straight dps. The interactive nature of the combat makes it significantly more interesting, I can combo my own fields or any other players. Of course this becomes more evident as you move into the more difficult content, most open world content and a few lower level dungeons don’t require that level of coordination.

Never going back to boring trinity games.

I don’t disagree with you, I think this combat system is a step in the right direction.

That being said, I don’t think it’s quite there yet. I’ve gotten numerous people to purchase this game and play because I told them how much I liked it, and what I liked about it. Only a few have really stayed and continue to play, and going back and asking those that have moved on why they quit, it’s because they felt the combat was too dull and they didn’t have any incentive to do anything except dps in groups, so they never felt “needed” for anything.

Hi Jon, I know I already asked this on page 1, but I really would like to know if Thief sword/dagger #3 will be getting any attention. Recap:

“If thief sword is going to get a cast time for infiltrator’s return, would it be possible to look into flanking strike and larcenous strike again? Ever since it was nerfed to only steal one boon, I find myself almost never using it, due to the fact that boon durations are generally very short, they are re-applied very easily, and there’s no control whatsoever on which boon you will be stealing anyways.

I do agree that it was too powerful at 2 boons stolen per larcenous strike, but I find it far too weak at 1 boon stolen… do you think the skill could be modified in some other fashion so that it’s not such a waste of initiative anymore?"

That’s not really how skills and traits interact with each other.
