I’m used to Guild Wars 2 using only it’s executable and it’s dat, but what is Coherent UI? I saw it’s used for Unity and UE4, but how does that apply to Guild Wars? Did they replace the whole UI with this framework?

The item also has a level requirement of 15 now, which is undocumented and unacceptable for use with new alts.

What’s Supposed To Happen

When using the Copper-Fed Salvager, it is on occasion supposed to play a quip from about six or seven lines.

What’s Actually Happening
——
Post September’s Update, the Salvager’s voicework seems interrupted. You can hear the first letter in each statement but that’s it. Regardless of audio settings this can’t be forced to work properly.

Reproduction:
——
Use a Copper-Fed Salvager on anything to salvage it. You may need to do this more than a few times to trigger the voicework.

It’s been awhile since I’ve bought gems and I was curious if Paypal Credit (original Bill Me Later) still works with Guild Wars 2.

Hi there. I’m sorry that I don’t know the answer to that. But I think that you might be able to get more information about that by posting in the Black Lion Trading Company Forum, since there are more players over there who can share their experiences with various credit providers.

Having just gone through and taken a chance, it seems Paypal Credit works just fine! In the end, Guild Wars 2 still opens an express payment window through Paypal that allows a purchaser to choose a payment source. I’ve got my gems, and I’m happy there.

They used to give a copy or Rytlock to each new character that you made nearer launch. Which is why I had multiple ones.

It looks like at this point anything “Extra” and marked as “Unlocked” is safe to throw out, right?

It’s been a long time since I really got into Guild Wars 2. Lots of changes. Townclothes aren’t a thing anymore, outfits aren’t a thing anymore, Minis just turned into an account-wide unlock which is nice.

Problem is, while I think I’ve got them set up as unlocked for my account, I’m not keen on deleting things I’ve paid for.

As an example, I have a Celebration Hat that says the skin is unlocked. Do I need to keep it anymore? Is there a reason to?

Another example, I have 3 Endless Common Clothing Tonics, but what about the clothing itself? Do I need to hold on to those anymore? Tonics are just used out of combat to change clothes, right?

For Minis, if they’re unlocked account-wide, I don’t need to hold on to extras then too? For this example I have a few copies of Rytlock. I can get rid of those from my inventory now?

Does the same principle apply to yellow reward skins too like the bow one I have? Unlock and destroy?

This is starting to feel like Rift’s first event only repeated over and over. These bugs need to be taken care of and it needs to be taken into account when discussing time-sensitive events.

I couldn’t complete phase one simply because Subdirector Noll and Canach were both bugged. Now I’m being penalized and left out of a portion of the event when similar problems cropped up for Mad King (and were subsequently extended as far as I understood).

My faith in these events are waning pretty quickly simply because it’s getting difficult to be able to participate since roadblocks that are beyond MY control (on top of things like work and other obligations that every adult has) are stopping me from being able to progress in these things.

Regardless of whether or not there will be other content, the fact that these are “Once in a Lifetime” events doesn’t allow for the excuse of “there will be others” because this won’t happen again for THIS event. Rewards are missed (even if they aren’t important), story is lost (it’s not the same to see it on youtube or read about it), and frankly means that you miss out.

You either make it available and let people participate, or you put a cover charge to make sure people can be hired to ensure it’s QA. I fully understand it’s not easy to create content, but why do it badly so it looks bad and people don’t get to see it?

Set it up to repeat, even if it’s once every three hours, six hours, or twelve hours. Give multiple opportunities for a day or two to experience it. Why spend the time on it if people will miss due to technical problems?

I’m really disappointed here. I was hoping to get a look at the event myself, but ArenaNet seems to have a really difficult time communicating how they’re managing these things.

Should I just give up on events these days? They said Mad King was a one-time event, and those ended up cycling (even the Mad King bursting out of the ground was repeated every hour or so.) I expected this event to follow the same pattern.

ArenaNet chose a time that just doesn’t work. First and foremost, they chose to put the major piece of the vent in one zone. That’s bad. Second, they chose to do it in the middle of the day when I wasn’t available. Third, they chose to do it on a WvWvW reset.

I’ve got a buddy of mine who managed to be there at the time and said “You aren’t missing anything” but that bothers me since it’s simply not the same to be told what happened compared to seeing it yourself.

Come on ArenaNet, you can do better than this.

With this wave of suspensions/terminations going through, you can bet that support is probably getting a wave of tickets as well. Rather than behaving and waiting with the other people who are seeing the same problem (of which is handled by a specific department, I suspect), this person is demanding to have his or her ticket answered immediately ahead of everyone else.

Frustrating, sure… but spamming tickets only slows EVERYONE down.

It’d be nice to have phone support, but over time I’ve come to realize that the number of people that actively participate in digital systems are too much. It overwhelms to the point where it just can’t be handled financially. Steam, Direct2Drive (RIP), GamersFirst, and ArenaNet don’t offer phone support and typically tickets can take anywhere from three hours to five days depending on the situation, how many people are submitting tickets, and what department those tickets go to.

Support got back to me and let all transactions through for 24 hours. That solves the immediate problem, but as I said before; I’m getting tired of having to “call” before paying ArenaNet.

So in this case, no.. it wasn’t my Credit Union or Paypal that was blocking these attempts, but ArenaNet. I hate to be mean, but ArenaNet has got to figure out a better way to stop fraudulent charges without impacting legitimate customers.

That doesn’t say to me it has made it to anyone, is in a que, will ever be seen.

All I know is there is no reply and posts of people waiting weeks. Doesn’t sound like the system works.

Nothing makes you special. If you got your automated reply, then it’s in line to get answered behind everyone else who is also waiting.

Would it be better to start calling (425) 462-9444 the main number directly and ask for help and or start making duplicate tickets? I know this could in theory back things up for others, but I have no evidence that my ticket isn’t lost in limbo or broken.

You have no evidence to suggest your ticket is lost or broken. Be patient, we ALL have to wait here.

People are inherently weak though, and so we have this black-hat industry that causes a large amount of money needed to be spent on anti-cheats, support, and security in order to keep the game running with any semblance of balance.

+Clock Tower was crazy hard. I never made it to the top, but I’m not upset. Rarely had so much fun failing.
-Camera issues aside, this needs to be a solo affair. Or a party only instance. Cramming so many people into one instance where character models can be almost 4x as big as another is a terrible design decision.

Completely disagree. Other random people made that event fun and pushed me to completion. Yes it was frustrating at first, but in the long run having someone else to taunt you (let alone a big Charr) was an awesome experience and made winning that much better.

The Maze – I liked that the maze, while level 80, was pretty simple to get around. Whenever I hear of a maze, I get a bit concerned that getting lost will be an issue for the longest time. That said, I also liked being able to see it up from the waypoint as well.

Lunatic Inquisition – I loved this. Teamwork is essential for both sides, but is more of a concern once your numbers start dwindling. The only thing I’d change is the “Mad King Says” abilities to share a cooldown. Far too easy to stun too many people with it (be it they following the order or otherwise). Naturally it gives them points if they follow it, but still.

Pumpkin Brawl – I liked it, but I would have preferred to see the skeletons be the prime fighting force between the two teams.

Clocktower – Best. Jumping. Puzzle. Ever. The multiplayer portion was probably the best choice as having others around made it easier to goad each other to continue on.

The Big Halloween Brawl – Mummy’s OP, as is the Mad King costume. Needs some balancing. Actor culling is an issue with this, specially with larger groups forming.

The real issue is that gold sellers prices being 6 TIMES better than legit prices means the gold sellers are WINNING.

No, really it means they are losing, if they can’t make a profit charging any more than a measly 1/6 of ANet’s prices.

And I don’t buy the line about hyper-inflation. The risk of hyper-inflation is the same whether the gold comes from Arena Net, or from botting and gold selling. The origin of extra gold has no bearing on it’s effect on the economy.

When you exchange gems for gold, ANet doesn’t just create a bunch of new gold out of nowhere. It essentially comes from the players who have already spent gold on gems. Which means that all the gold in the game comes from events and vendors and achievements, plus whatever (fictitious) buffer ANet keeps track of so transactions are instantaneous.

The transactions aren’t exactly 1:1, they’re just weighted for balance.

Even then, other sales to other digital distribution places such as Playspan, G1, Steam, etc. all don’t have issues with this. What is it about ArenaNet that causes these problems when MANY other entities do just fine?

At this point, my Credit Union doesn’t even see the transaction attempts.

Seems to be that prepaid cards/gift cards (what I am using) trips the payment risk system. I agree with you on the fact that time frames are not exact ally desirable, but support handles a ridiculous amount of tickets of which half usually tend to be about something the player could of solved on their own or from help from the community. I think that prepaid/gift cards should be looked into on why they are tripping the payment system. Unfortunately I can’t do anything to speed up your service time-frame as I don’t work for Anet, and I apologize, I can only offer support and ideas as to what may be causing the issue. I have requested to Gaile that we might merge threads of this type to cut down on the work flow of having to scan these forums for ticket numbers. This at least might decrease response times.

I never expected you to do much since you don’t work for Arenanet. Despite my poisonous words, I’m really just frustrated with it since it’s always a chore. It’s clear enough that the billing system’s security is flawed and that response times are not good enough when offering time-limited offers in BLTC.

ArenaNet is usually pretty good about providing a good customer-facing experience, but the BLTC is their weakest point right now.

Completely Understandable Freyar, however the payment security system is in place because unfortunately some people out there want to do criminal things with accounts. while most of the time it protects the player sometimes it can punish them unintentionally. You have until nov 4th to get the costumes. Just leave your ticket number with Gaile on this thread and she Will help you as quickly as possible.

What other people do isn’t my concern. I’m a customer trying to pay legitimately. I’ve got a CE, I’ve had no fraudulent transactions on my account, there are no fraudulent transactions on my father’s account (I bought gems for him once using a gift-card). Stands to reason that this long after having started my account, I’ve got no problems still legitimately paying for the game and it’s content.

Taking a page from another game, perhaps it’s better to have a bar that indicates how much you’re able to buy within a certain time period that increases as the account becomes more “trustworthy” based on purchase history and other issues.

I’m on limited time here to buy what I’m looking for, and I don’t believe support will get to my ticket on time. (Last time I had to ask for permission to pay ArenaNet it took them a week and a half just to move it to billing.)

Just a note.. temporarily flagging for 24 hours doesn’t fix the problem. There is a fundamental issue with the way billing does security.
