I’m trying to get the Halloween costumers now and billing security is only getting in the way at this stage. It shouldn’t be this hard to pay ArenaNet. I love the game! ><
Same problems for Gem purchases too.

Card Approval Failed
Unable to buy Gems so I’m going to miss out on the Halloween costume. (Admittedly I did wait till the last day, but you guys are offering it. :P)
I’ve had an awful lot of problems trying to buy gems since early September.
ANET’s response to bottling has been absolutely pathetic. Many people I play with and myself included have simply stopped reporting them as that doesn’t seem to accomplish anything. It doesn’t take any fancy software garbage. If they played their own game for 5 minutes they could easily find a dozen bots. There really is no excuse for the state of this game when it comes to bots ATM.
I know of a fight between two major guilds that resulted in one of the leaders getting a temporary ban for spammed botting reports. They aren’t even verifying the reports at this stage. “Forty-plus reports for botting on this one character who plays actively with his guild? Those forty-plus reports all came from members of one guild? Seems legit!”
It’s more difficult than it sounds. It’s a problem, but it’s not an easy problem, otherwise it wouldn’t be happening. I wish these people who did cheat had some actual integrity.
The solution here is to get Guesting to work properly. I’ve met a number of new friends through the Halloween event too, and it’s frustrating to see Guesting not working properly. I have no desire to leave my home server at the moment, but I don’t want to have to ignore new friends either.
I think the WP cost are okay so far except that if i am doing a jumping puzzle and I died. The nearest WP also cost me 1S 50C which is a bit high.
Can Anet consider adjusting the cost of travelling viz WP according to the distance you are away from it?
I think the idea was to turn it into a tax. By scaling the cost for Point A to Point B based on level, you take a portion of higher-level income and help try to stabilize the gold ceiling in the market.
So the fact that u can use bots and hack , and not get ban is completely ok right ? As is fact that to anet, boters/hack users are same as i , who try play legit. Since u all chose to ignore this problems i guess you deserve game as it is .
I would hope you had a little more integrity than that. Cheating is an ethical problem in which one is unwilling to play a game fairly. Sure, cheating in a singleplayer game wouldn’t hurt anyone, but when you play in an MMO, you are impacting every other player in the game in every server.
Wouldn’t make sense to do it at midnight… that’s not during a time when the servers would be busy.
Despite my frustration with the Charr and Norn in the puzzle, I found a little bit of “elbowing” each other made it much more easy to withstand failure. I ended up making a friend in there too as we taunted each other in our race to the top. (I Asura, he Charr.. he won…)
I think people are too uptight over the comments made. I did grumble, but it was always meant in jest as it isn’t their fault the models are so big.
With people using bots, the market and game shift so that the only people that can participate are the ones that follow the same path. I don’t buy games to let the PC play for me (excepting games that are more about AI design..), I buy games to play with or against others.
Those that choose to cheat with bots violate a standing social contract with the playerbase, and violate their contract with ArenaNet. Remember that the USDoJ wanted to make it a FELONY to go beyond access limitations, and in this case being found to cheat in any way could be classified as a felony prosecuted by the government, not just ArenaNet.
Granted, not everyone lives in the US, I understand that, but it’s a sign that people are starting to have enough of this kind of behavior- mainly in commerce, but games and social networks too.
Did you click my link?
“our massive November release.”
key word massive.OR Tosha’s link?
“big November update”
key word big.
Fair enough. Other MMOs must have trained me to ignore those words when talking about updates because 80% of the time, they aren’t.
I don’t think there was anything indicating size of content, just that there is content coming.
I’d like to plan ahead of time with regards to work. :P
Black Lion Chests are fine as they are. Putting anything in them that is “Oh my [diety] amazing!” would result in the system turning into “you must buy this, or miss out on cool stuff that you won’t see otherwise.”
You must not have bought any keys. For those of us who did, thinking we’d get some cool Halloween stuff and getting absolutely nothing new or seasonal out of them, it was a waste of money. If I had wanted that stuff, I would have bought the keys earlier. No one is saying there should be unique Black Lion Chest only content, we just would have liked more the big “nothing” that we got.
I agree with the OP, the random chance to get an item from the Black Lion Chests never should have been implemented. It just wasn’t worth it to the player base. I wish I had spent those gems on the minis or a costume instead. Oh well, lesson learned.
I have bought keys and have used them. In the context of Halloween things, I suppose I should agree on the premise that “here’s some shiny thing with a low open rate” is a pretty bad way to go.
Am I backtracking? Yes, but that’s because I thought about it further. Outside of the event, they were fine though. You got a toy, a booster, and a useful tool. That’s all that was really ever needed in there without giving the TF2 crate feeling.
It’s a skill-based thing. Make it easy to do and suddenly it’s not something that requires as much skill.
And I bet if I had your setup and your health, I’d have your skill level too. My eye sight is poor. If this puzzle were not timed, I could do it. It would take me a while.. but right now, this is impossible for me.
So… maybe the puzzle isn’t for you? This kind of complaint is comparable to complaining that Dark Souls is too hard. There will be difficult challenges, easy challenges, and other challenges in the middle of the road. A range is the best way to offer something to a wide variety of people.
For the record, it took me about 4 hours to finally get it down. Now that I’ve done it, I can get up there once every five runs maybe. I was frustrated, and I had thought to give up, but a few other people I would talk to between rounds kept me going. It’s a neat little puzzle. People just need to realize that you can’t win at everything.
This is not life, this is a game. A game is fun. Meaning you don’t spend hours on it. This puzzle completely turns the GW2 philosophy upside down. Instead of you putting in a few hours and receiving the satisfaction of being able to still reach everything that the road runners can reach in 1 minute, now you must grind and pray to the 5 gods for your shiny title. This is WoW philosophy, not GW2.
There’s no title for this, just what.. five achievement points and having it scratched off the “to-do” list? A game isn’t necessarily supposed to be “fun” in the pure sense of the word. See PATV’s Extra Credits.
Just because it can’t be done by some doesn’t mean that the reward for having done so should be revoked from those that did, nor should the reward be handed out to everyone.

ArenaNet already said that they cannot extend the event because it ends right into the ramp up for November’s events.
Beat up your friend or something.
But.. I don’t want to make the Mad King proud.

I just can’t do it..
Finally beat the Clock Tower Puzzle!!!...and again...and agian...and again...

It helps to talk with other players while waiting for the next round. I had a bit of a rivalry going with some Charr.
It’s funny. I’ve seen 80’s do very dumb things.. like not pay attention to where scarecrows were placed, not considering the plastic spiders and their damage, or just plain jumping off.
Jumping Puzzle was frustrating, but in the end it was fun enough to get to the top. I’m actually a bit disappointed in the nerf to the chest, but whatever.
At first I hated being stuck as an Asura under both Norn and Charr foot, but in the end I found that it was pretty fun having a few “competitions” to see how far we could all get.
There’s nothing more to be done there? As long as someone is in the leader rank everything will be fine? (I was concerned by the wording “Stand Down”.)
Howdy.
What is the proper way in handing off guild leadership? I’m intending to leave my current guild, but I’m concerned as I was the one that created it.
I like it as it is.

Freyar, illgot, and Wazabi. It seems like you are having a fun circle jerk in here. While adding nothing to the discussion, I’m glad you are having fun! Please do try to post something constructive, instead of ad-hominem attacks. Thanks!
Please stop making “yet another thread” when we’re already discussing it elsewhere.
Either way, your suggestion’s terrible as outlined in the other thread.
You’re putting up an object to be sold at X price. It isn’t the Post’s fault someone else decides to sell it for less. If you don’t find that “equilibrium” yourself, then why are you complaining about being undercut? Leave it as it is, relist as neccesary. Average prices will adjust over time to account for the increased cost in listing.
I’ve been having some problems with Heartseeker missing all of a sudden. Combine that with lag and I’m a good five seconds away from getting back in to combat.
Then why don’t you hold on to it, or price it lower to begin with?
It wasn’t an issue before they tried to “fix it” for specific races. Unfortunately, it’s so close now that trying to use various abilities is impossible.
Here we go. This thief is the best thief ever.
I think she’s either afraid or enamored with the bucket.
I don’t believe I’ve seen that much complain on the market in eve….
Not really. People tell you to shut it and move on to better markets if Jita isn’t your thing. (Though the economics of Jita was always fun especially with Goon’s impact..) I think part of the problem here is that it’s one market over ALL the servers.

Everyone gets those, even my very challenged nephew who really doesn’t really participate, unless by participating you mean taking off your shirt in the middle of the football game and running around the field yelling “MY LITTLE PONY!”
Creepy. Even by my standards.
I’m starting to see this problem in the main storyline after dealing with a brave apple-vendor. It’s just a few lines here and there it’s almost as if the archive was corrupted and the game just couldn’t provide it. This is recent too.

Why should cutting by once copper be removed again?
Because he hates coming in second place
Oh don’t worry, he’ll turn around and argue that you know nothing of economics.
The temporary benefits is the reason why I ended up fighting between standard and CE. (I got CE…)
I’d like an option to at least recharge my golem though. As it is it’s sad to see him grayed out in my bank tab. Grey him out, make him have a 7 day cooldown.
eve players are OP on economic PVP…needs nerfing…lol
How’d you know I played EvE-O?
I graduated EvE Online Core Economics and all I got was this Tritanium.
The game already shows you vendor value for the object in it’s tooltip.
KDragon, if you’re going to truly waltz in here with a superiority complex, then you can take your suggestions to the moon. If a seller wanted to lower his price, then he can. He has to decide whether or not it’s worth taking the hit or not.
Again, you can’t tell me that I can’t sell my objects at a price that I want simply because it costs you to re-post your materials. Removing or allowing people to change the price for free will simply allow the market to spin into a free-fall as opposed to making people have to make a tough choice. (Do I take the cut and pay the extra fee? Or do I give up and vendor it.)
Items in general on the Trading Post are cheap. Very cheap. This is because availability is so wide that there’s a problem with scarcity.

(edited by Freyar.3254)
Here’s the solution, either:
-change them into better versions of the white goodie bags you get from killing mobs that you can open without a key
This won’t happen since it would eliminate an avenue for recurring revenue.
-if they are going to require a key to open, make the items in the chests more worthwhile like fine or rarer crafting materials or other good stuff
Making things more valuable out of the chests shifts the game towards a pay-to-win scenario. You can argue all you want that it won’t, but the fact of the matter is when rarer materials become available via these chests, it becomes a de-facto method for acquiring these things.
Will end-products end up being account bound? If not, how do you prevent people from buying into the economy while also getting a direct crafting boon?
If the chests aren’t good enough for you, leave ‘em. You don’t have to spend the money, and this call to make them “oh my [deity] awesome” only makes me lose faith that the people arguing for better drops know what they’re actually suggesting.
I think a two-week period would be decent enough. There should be some hard-to-find items that require a decent amount of time to sit.
It was a limited time offer. It’s sad though, because I’d have liked to see these caps on all my character’s town clothes, current and future.
It’s account bound, so you can just toss it in the bank when you want a certain character to have it.
Yeah, but that’s a pain.
Maybe automatic pricing might be useful in that regard.
Instead of entering a price manually you’d be given the options:
1. Meet highest buyer
2. Match highest lowest seller
3. Undercut lowest seller (automatically undercuts by 5%)
4. Manual price (must be above current lowest seller)It would make finding a market price more convenient while eliminating the minuscule undercutting.
Why should I take a 5% hit when I’m deciding to put mine up for my price? If you wanted to sell before me, you could have lowered your price before hand.
Hate to say it but it works.
Doesn’t mean I have to approve it and support a move to that kind of design. It’s just plain abusive of the customer base and not fair to those who would rather just pay outright for the item.
In All Points Bulletin Reloaded they sell Joker Boxes. These drop a rare item only available in the box, usually a special gun that can be traded, sells for millions on the open market, and for the most part better than any other gun in that weapons category (but only by a tiny amount).
People buy boxes all the time. They spend 200-300 dollars trying to get that weapon because they either can’t control their gambling or can easily afford to waste money like that on their hobby. But it does not matter because the company is making money off customers willing and often times happy to spend it. This in turn gives all of us (well not for APB) more game development.
I left All Points Bulletin: Reloaded because of it’s shift to tactics like this. I was an extremely active member of the community since the old Realtime Worlds’ CBTs oh-so-long ago. I loved All Points Bulletin despite it’s flaws, but G1’s exploitation of the customer base just put me off to the point where I just can’t support them anymore.
It’s not fun when you’re told there’s a chance to get a super-awesome-ultra-box-only item, only to never have it show up. This is essentially gambling, with no cash payout, and no oversight from any “Gaming Commission” to ensure that it’s all done with fair play.
I personally do not like to gamble because I have horrible luck. I would rather spend 200 dollars on the item than gamble on it 1 dollar at a time.
If ANet put in a special armor skin only available in the BLCs, made that skin tradable, and made it extremely rare, their sales in keys would grow exponentially.
And considering we are only talking about skins and not items with stats, I’m perfectly fine with that. Especially given that keys are also given as mission rewards and rare drops.
An important feature for something like this is that the super rare item has to be tradable on the open market, that increases the items value as people will try and get the skins just to sell them.
Just because ArenaNet can make more money by shifting how the Black Lion Chests are handled doesn’t mean they should. Remember, ArenaNet is a company that STOPPED sales of their client to keep things stable with strong comments about how fun is first. I don’t disagree that revenue is vital to keep it up and running, but it can’t come at the cost of cheapening the game out with a Team Fortress 2 or All Points Bulletin: Reloaded roulette system.
I like cosmetics. If something is only available through a super-rare drop that means I’d have to push $200 in chance-keys to get it, then my relationship with ArenaNet would be damaged to the extreme.
So, Wal-Mart is paying tax 5% of the set price every time they decide to lower price or list a new commodity?
I guess such comments come from those, who haven’t even tried trading on TP.
Wal-Mart does have to pay (through labor or otherwise) to change prices, but it just simply doesn’t matter to them in the long run. Part of me thinks availability is far too high, which is causing an overall lower price for materials in the long run which reduces the “wiggle room” for people trying to sell.
You can’t dictate what I put my price up for, and if you decide to put it up for 1.00.00, I’ll put it up for 0.99.99 because I can forgo a copper just to make sure it leaves my list.
Because without those teeth, it’s hard to eat omnomberries.
It was a limited time offer. It’s sad though, because I’d have liked to see these caps on all my character’s town clothes, current and future.
