Kick-voting will most certainly be abused! However, I do agree with you on the kick portion of your suggestion. Only, I propose an auto-kick. If anyone afks for a certain period of time OR more importantly does not contribute in any way, shape or form in a match(decap, point-capture,kill)—-the game kicks that person out.

Any system built to auto react is avoidable, because it would be put on bare minimums. As such it would A: be to weak to do any real good or B: get put to high and thus confuse afkers or score feeders with people actually trying. This is a problem that needs to be addressed vie a competent sentient user or in this case ‘users’ addressing the problem, it might be ab-usable but its better then relying on a system that is easy to avoid as stated in my OP.

red team 5 active players vs blue team 4 active players 5th inactive picking his nose in base.

Point blank…. 5 total seasons of this trash.

This has been a sourly needed to be addressed problem in pvp, people who A: score feed by running into meat grinders and standing there to die B: afkers who idle in base or random spots on the map.

They have 1 thing in common, they are deliberately trying not to win, either because A: they want to tank mmr to get free wins later as was a problem in several seasons of B: they already got a good rank on main account so are alt accounting to ruin other people’s matches to thin their competition.

But there is 1 total fix that would at least do something to counter this and that is pvp majority voting to kick someone out of a match.

And don’t say that’s committing match suicide because it is not the case we have “out-manned” in WVW we could totally use it in pvp to counter the afkers.

and here is why 1: majority 3/4 must be required to vote 1 person out. 2: while the group is under 5 people the system applies a balanced out manned stat buff to try and give the team a chance to make up for the person whom they had to kick while the system finds a replacement. 3: the system pulls someone from the Q in to the match and removes the out manned buff.

It might not totally solve the afk problem but it at least combats it and avoids giving the trolls complete power to wreck other people’s matches.

I’ve had to put up with trolls in matches every season, and even the qualifier’s were no exception for this new season, a minimum of 2 matches out of 10 had 1 person do absolutely nothing and my team lost for it because we couldn’t kick them and they avoided being inactive to prevent the system from having a reason to boot them out.

Let us not forget unique to this very season there is no power to pre-make a team, its either solo or duo Q now this there is always a 1-3 chance a pug will be a troll simply looking to idle in the match or score feed the other team to victory.

Given that losing is auto 3 pips and top stating is bonus pips losing rewards the afkers for there time ruining other peoples game, at least in the past 4 seasons pips were the be all end all rank/reward system. To get rewards you had to win, throwing matches was just trolling at the cost of in game reward however now they can troll and get something out of it.

There is only 1 other way anet could stop idle and match manipulating offensive players and that’s assign staff to personally watch over each and every match and we all know they not only won’t do that but can’t do it, and a program is far to easy to exploit, the current system which boots people only does so after X inactivity time which is avoidable by twitching any controls every so often to be considered ‘active’.

Setting the system to do something about people sitting in base to long would do zero as well because such trolls would just do it out of the base then to avoid it. Then there is the report ‘idle player’ or ‘match manipulation’ Lets be honest ok, this is a joke, if and whenever the offending player is dealt with they’ve already done the damage, you won’t be refunded lost ranking or anything of the sort. Yes it is nice if and when the offender is banned to prevent the problem further but that won’t come fast enough from the time they are reported for it.

If there has to be further reason for a vote to kick then let it be this. Supply the reason then have it file a report to arenanet automatically when the vote removes the offender from the match so their actions can be looked into to validity if they should take action while simultaneously removing the immediate problem from the current match to give the team some real chance to win.

As someone who’s played every season of pvp league its frustrating and disheartening to see this particular problem has not been addressed and it is very discouraging to bother with ranked play during a league season when out know this nonsense will be there waiting with no power to deal with it.

GW2 Client not booting up help please

I click my GW2 icon to boot up the game however the client will not appear on screen yet shows in my Tack manager to be present in the process panel. I’ve had a fickle time managing to force it on screen several times of late, both before and after patches, run as administrator did 0 to change the issue for better or worse. I’d rather hear any other possible fixes before having to commit to the absurd reinstall game concept as that will take a LONG time just to see if it does the trick.

Formal request to change raid reset time.

At current the reset time for raids is unhealthy for the community, it limits a majority of players by their respective timezone even among their own guilds to do raiding due to real life responsibility’s IE jobs etc.

Whenever I discuss the current raid reset time with people in game or ask why someone cannot come to a raid during a given day the reason is often the same. Work, or some other rl matter they must attend to on a week day. This results in very poor turn out for many and less successful runs in raids over the course of the weekend due to most already clearing bosses earlier in the week within their respective time zones within limit hours they have to game and do raiding while those of us who prefer weekend raids or simply cannot raid during the week end up having less fun and less turn out among our guild members or even pugs off the lfg to fill everything needed to make successful attempts.

Many people I’ve spoken to in game agree that this is a problem for them either getting a successful raid run or even getting a raid at all for the boss or wing they want due to the early week raid clears at times they couldn’t be on which results in smaller weekend raid turn-outs due to most raiders being shard capped by this point in the week which results in a lack of interest to raid further until after the next reset.

It is highly agreed on that the reset time for raids would be better suited to either Thursday or Friday as this would promote more raiders attempt their runs on the weekend where time-zones are less restrictive and rl matters are fewer due to the nature of less responsibility’s to tie up their schedules.

If the raid time was moved from it’ currents late Sunday night/ early Monday morning (depending on your respective time-zone.) to a more weekend friendly one such as Thursday or Friday it would allow more people to raid together at a wider array of times compared too the current due of how restricting weekdays already are.

New report options please

We have seriously needed more options when it comes to reporting things, especially player related things.

An example would be when in pvp people do physically abusive things like t e a bag ing your corpse over and over, but we have no report abusive behavior or graphic abuse, closest e got is verbal abuse tab.

Another example would be when you pvp or wvw and get rekted vs a mesmer using tide of time 5 times in a row which is flat impossible, or how about a thief pinging you then stealthing .5 seconds later regardless of revealed debuff, we got no report hacking button to appropriately report such offenses.

So please anet, do this hugely long over due addition to the report system, give us some more accurate options for reporting stuff.

It’s one thing to get trolled in pvp matches, hounded the whole fight by a single person, it’s another for that person to use emotes or certain motions to visually abuse your corpse every time.

‘Grrrrrreeeeeaaat’ just got trolled 6 matches in a row, dropped far down the division cause of people score feeding instead of trying to win or cause they spent whole match off-cap roaming not even fighting mostly. and the big daddy the SIXTH match I lost cause a guy logged out RIGHT AT START then never came back, making it a 4v5 WHOLE MATCH.

ANET PLEASE ADDRESS THIS ISSUE.

If he logged out at start and never came back at least you dont lose a pip and dont lose a win streak if you was on one.

It’s irritating either way, worse if you are on a lose streak because of mmr trolls because it further deprives players of win’s to progress.

Agree. This MMR system and the league system is not compatible. MMR not measures your personal skill with this kind of team play. It measures only your luck (lets say “luck” but its a STRONGLY cheated system)

They fixed the Amber shopping.

That hasn’t even touched the problem people have been plagued by since season 1, jipped matches are still going on where people get 1 person whom deliberately throws the match making it impossible for the other 4 on that team to win.

The lower your MMR the worse your teammates and the deeper hole you dig yourself into though.

and onc eyour lose enough it’s possible to use that to go on a win streak that you don’t deserve, which is what people have been doing to cheat the system, they force teams to lose to get easy fights, get big win streaks then lose a few more times to lower their mmr and do it again. Anet needs to address this issue.

One such fix would be to stop basing personal score on team win/fail so trolls seeking to lower them mmr by throwing the match for win streaks can’t drag down those actually trying to win int he first place.

Personal score should be just that, PERSONAL not team rated, if one person is throwing the match the other 4 shouldn’t be punished with a lost pip for it.

Can we please get a statement from an anet forum mod to let us know they are aware of this egregious issue and if they are going to try and fix it? I just lost a match cause a guy avoided the afk time out by running around the map goofing off and calling marks on his own team mates rather then on the enemy’s, I’d know cause he spammed me with target mark over twenty times!

Anet please make it so ‘blocking’ someone prevents the system from putting people in party with us when we Q up for ranked fights, I’ve had a terrible time getting up in season 3’s rankings because there has far to often been at least 1 person deliberately throwing the fight so that my team loses, whats worse I’ve had these same people on my team multiple times and always lose when they are on my team’s roster.

It isn’t fair, it’s terribly trolly and above frustrating!!!!

I spent over 2 days on sapphire t4 clawing up to t5 because of this, constantly getting smurfs in my team’s roster every other fight forcing me to lose pips before I could get out of the tier. It has frustrated me as well as other people to watch 1 guy do little or nothing the whole fight or worse go to the same place throughout the entire match and let themselves get killed to feed the other team score.

Soc an we PLEASE get some method of dealing with this nonsense?

Yesterday alone I had 1 incident where the same smurf was in my party 3 times in a row during solo ranked Q and 2 other occasions later int he day,a ll of which was matches I lost cause he stands there ranting in team chat while alive instead of fighting, even if people block him he still does it every match. people like this are detrimental to ranked play if we who are actually trying don’t have any way to keep them out of our party, it shouldn’t be a requirement to pre-make a team of 5 to prevent these smurfs, not all of us can manage that so PLEASE PLEASE ELAPSE give us a way to prevent smurfs from constantly being in our party’s for ranked play. Seasons in pvp are already hard enough without this bogus nonsense always dragging down players who are trying their hardest to go up the ranks.

Weapon swap bug

Agreed, this bug is simple but super irritating, forcing players to essentially pop hero panel, open equipment then drag and drop to make it behave right, this slows people down a lot unless they don’t mind awkward clunky incorrect swaps when attempting to change with double tap in any other form.

This bug needs to be fixed sooner, not just for the current players but also because of the potential problem it might cause for new players, new player smight dismiss this game completely if they come in and find it unplayable cause this bug so it is rather annoying that we have been waiting what 4 days now for a fix and it took 3 to get acknowledgement they were aware of the bug, not to mention those of us wishing to compete in the pvp league are being essentially blocked from taking part as we would simply be free kills/dead-weight for any team right now.

P.S. day 1 pvp league 2 I played 1 match witht he stutter bug affecting me, my combat performance was more then halfed cause of the issues the stutter bug causes. In spite of that my team won because I managed to at least give a few well placed time warps and the other 4 on my team were not affected by the stutter bug. Meaning 1/5 on my team was severely hindered aka me, we won but only be like 2-3 points which was in huge thanks again to the time warping on spawn caps on the temple of silent storm map. But me and my friend agreed that if pvping is gonna be that insanely difficult with stutter bug then it is best to not pvp until it’s fixed.

So please anet fix this, we been waiting patiently but this is kind of unacceptable you know? Current players frustrated cause the like the game but can’t play unless they want headaches and such, and people who buy the game now and happen to be affected might deem the game a bad purchase and demand refunds or not recommend it to friends.

I like this game a lot but the fact the stutter bug took this long to be publically acknowledged and on day 4 still no sign of a fix is problematic cause of the negativity it can cause.

It really does need to be fixed soon though, people who focus on pvp or wvw are affected worse by this, and given how people get headaches off it even pve suffers.

Hello everyone, as we all know raiding is not the biggest thing for everyone right now, and it’s also not easy to get into raiding due to certain ‘issues’ related to them.

So to help foster the Raiding community to grow I’m going to try and start a weekly raid attempt which will welcome new raiders. The requirements are few as to make this easy for everyone. You are also welcome to join my guild for easier alerts to a raid forming, The guild has no rep requirements and is a friendly level 15 guild Or you can add me to your list and pm me or other teacher rank members during raid hours.

The rules simple as they are.

1: Willing to learn.
2: Full exotic or higher gear.
3: No toughness over 1,800 or higher unless you are filling roll as tank.
4: Be friendly and patient with others.

Raiding will be held during weekends to allow for better turnouts starting on Friday’s at 8-10Pm Naturally with this will be a weekend long event, anyone in the guild wanting to teach and help get a raid group together is willing to start one up.

The hours in which I will be hosting raid are as follows (So long as my RL does not interfere.)

Friday: 9pm-1am est
Saturday: 9pm-2am est
Sunday: 8pm-11pm est

Missing scribe materials?

Why are so many scribe materials unavailable? Items like Lattice and bolts of embroidered silk are needed for things to make decorations but without knowing how to acquire them the respective decorations end up being meaningless listing int he scribe’s crafting table since a key component is currently unable to be acquired

Rune/Sigil bugs after Sept 29 patch [merged]

This is a major and annoying bug, its affecting pve/wvw and pvp, and its a mixed bag results, not all players are having the same results on which runes they can or cannot get the HS proc from but its quite clear that they cannot use all of them which hurts if their favorite rune set is among the cannot use list.

To OP: Not all of those runes worked for me while others did, its a weird mixed bag affecting each player differently It’s far safer to assume none of the HS effects are working for every player, cause me and someone else in the pvp lobby confirmed it’s not working the same for each player, IE I used vamp rune but he couldn’t while I couldn’t use scavenger but he could.

Chrono isn’t all bad but yes, need rebalance, lets be honest please, this is our first play at chrono, maybe they will rebalance before next beta (if there is one) since live stream a few things did change! Grav well now pulses damage over time with larger end damage and floats but no longer pulls during pulses. The well trait now purges 2 condi instead of 1, the grand master lost time if i recall right was 3 hits and not crit required but now is kittens and only after that is fit hits of critting not five normal hits which kinda needs good precision and danger time to reap benefit from prompt and properly.

Alacrity had promise but unless you pressure cook it (aka spam duh heck out of alacrity gains aka burn shatters and recall) you don’t really get much out of it, its something that requires effort given uptime to feel an affect while people who barely poke it feel its quite useless cause yeah you blinked its over wait did I even scratch one second off the cd?

Considering the big rollout we got last month which made condi builds more of a pain to run into in pvp/wvw or even condi spam mobs in pve, 1-2 condi purge ability’s feel worthless to slot if it’s going to be over ridden in an instant.

Look t ele, water grandmaster applying regen to self or friend = purge 1 condi, I feel they should endeavor to either give effective condi purge count or apply a nice twist to get a better benefit for running it, well power for purging 2 condi si better then 1 but again, you gotta be in the well field when it ends oops watch out for cc or you totally won’t get condi purge!

I’ma big mesmer player and because i burn alacrity like hot cakes I do feel its affects but only because I keep it up a lot and that is not easy, much like the supposed ele learning curve people keep talking about alacrity is a floating ability that needs to be held onto as much as possible to do anything.

As to wells I feel they all have their use, and some don’t hav emuch, especially if you focus one of three fields in gw2 aka pve/wvw or pvp, for the same reason necros don’t seem to use wells a lot meswells don’t feel too valuable even the grav well because its easy to avoid standing in them if they aren’t yours, without it’s pull function anyone will get out of the grave well unless they aren’t watching then the ability gets used for nothing.

As for the shield, eh I like it, but the tides of time does feel overly heavy. (again if you aren’t burning alacrity for uptime on it.) then even if you do get the 10s reduction you won’t feel special especially if the enemy jumps out of the way further wasting it. The block skills are ok to a degree I have no real problem with the blocking setup but the phantoms need something that isn’t a shield so avengers don’t look like stand in defenders!

Con-shift ooooops weren’t we promised clever use with tides of time for an even better cd reduction? WELL that was a LIE! Burn a cd in shift it will revert to its previous setting aka ready to use, use it before con-shift and oops you can’t get the cd bonus cause again, you will change the current time on the cd when you shift back, so what really got was this. Shift -> throw tides instantly close shift throw tides again (to cheat time and have 2 walls up.) then run through 2 that’s neither clever nor investing in skill its a simple open and close combo, roll shift cast tide shut of shift right after and throw the tide again, you can never get the bonus cd reduction off 1 tide like they told us we could.

And yes Shift is beyond balignerantly short even with max 3 illusions up when you use it. While shift can make some fun (spam) combos aka double TW grav well mass invis moa morphing possible, its really just a shift burn all cd’s possible before shift ends then reuse outside it for a burst attempt, it doesn’t offer much tactical timing unfortunately its just a trivial cheat to cooldown timers pure and simple because skills like blink won’t help when you boing back to where you opened shift.

No this is not a rant post its just a critical opinion to show I care and that I hope this being the first beta event serves its purpose well and that the next beta event shows some development to the chrono and other specs for us to test.

Improvements needed:

Improved alacity gains or durations.

trait for wells aka ‘alls wellt hat ends well’ needs to provide more then just a measly (worthless) 2 condi purge function, maybe a small cd reduction (10%) and/or a radius increase.

Grav well needs pull function so it really feels like gravity instead of a belated soft cc with a large cooldown.

More investing choices in its ‘trait’ line that feel like time magic based abilities.

A better cd balance on the shield 5 skill and a reaction animation for shield 4 when you block an attack.

Avengers need something other then the shield (or the other weapons phantoms already have) so that you don’t mistake them for defenders.

I’d like a refund on the keys that I never used!

I am sure they won’t refund, but still why even put the chest out? I mean why would anyone have held onto those keys this long? Makes 0 sense since most anyone would have chucked them by now.

Arenanet needs to update the wiki to provide some up to date info on such things, cause that chest icon on the map is going to draw needless attention if its essentially a big fat decoration.

Can we get an official statement from anet why this chest has been place din new lions arch? Was the drop of the individual key parts only done during tower of nightmares over a year ago, if so then why is a chest which requires the key made from the three components on display in the city?

I stand by my point. Learn to adapt, and don’t complain until you’ve actually seen/played the changes in action.

And again, you don’t need to play with the changes to know that they’ll result in a net reduction of skill required to play the game at its higher levels.

If it is making it harder for you to catch and lock down somebody isn’t it increasing the amount of skill needed?

Not even remotely, professions that already are a nightmare to catch now will be impossible to catch then, professions that have a hard time escaping now will never escape then.

Currently you can try repeat TRY to hold people down using cripple/chill but with this change that becomes 100% impossible, it nullifies the purpose of cripple and halves the function of chill.

but after this change there won’t be any trying anymore it just will not happen, and all the fun moments the layers of combat has because of how it currently works will be gone in favor of a more slated dumbed down (lazy) way of fighting that reduces skill and increases gaps between certain professions.

Necro players easily see the red light here cause they have serious mobility issues thus have to rely on either of these condi to control enemy’s and try to kill them. Not to mention their HOT spec aka the reaper is getting its teeth pulled with this change. and the reaper was made clearly dependent on chill to catch people.

It would be lovely to get a dev post but lets be real, how often do they ever seem to post on topics? its like tripping over a diamond on the beach if this topic isn’t about account trouble or some weird in game or site bug.

But still it would be nice if they listen, I’m seeing far more ‘please don’t!’ posts on the forums then ‘yay gimme gimme this has so been needed’ posts.

Trust between a game community and the game’s Devs in any online game is essential.

Anet needs to trust its community because we’ve often trusted them and lets face it lately they’ve started making more then ‘questionable’ choices.

A great many of use in gw2 are not first timers, this isn’t our first game, thus we have the wisdom and experiance of past online/mmos we have played and know if such an act is unwise.

examples

A: game is sold as a race game with cool mods you must skillfully use to get the edge later devs of said race game nerf/remove said mods used for skillful play and didn’t listen to their community that it was a bad idea then the game dies cause what it was loved for and sold for was taken back.

B: same race game sold for the same reason but when said devs try to remove the mods used for skillful racing they listened to their community backed off and found some other appropriate way to change the mods instead of out right peeling it essentially out of the game in turn gaining community trust and ensuring more lifespan of the game.

This is fact of any and all online based gameplay, if game developers lose the trust of their respective community why would said community stay? we’ve all seen it in the past, some bad idea update/expac or such is installed against the wisdom of its community then the game loses players and in some case so many that the game dies.

I am totally sure cripple/chill can be edited without straight up flat lining its potential into nothing, any skill that’s more or less over powered can simple A: remove the condi or B: alter the condi’s duration/intensity so it’s brought in line.

Not to be anti-rev or anything (cause i do like it and want to play it.) but lets be brutaly honest please, banish enchantment is a legend skill for the condi legend, 1 of those said skills is beyond broken and is about to get worse if not balanced by release why is this you ask? because its a huge heavy confusion spam skill. In the last beta i stood at a mob and maxed confu stacks by just spamming this ability cause it has no cooldown and low energy cost. Confusion is about to get an over time ping for damage like torment, so why is cripple and chill being nerfed int he grand scheme of things? Am I asking this skill not do confusion? NO! am I asking for them not to change confusion to a dot? NO! I am asking they wisely balance problem skills directly instead of simply nerfing something at its source where it ends up going bad.

If anet feels some leaps are not doing what they should don’t nueter their counters to death, maybe give them a purge to 1 of 2? stop nerfing before thinking please, even ask the community outright for ideas if you must, we can figure a better balance skill out instead of just killing off something that for YEARS has been perfectly fine as is and don’t say it wasn’t intended actions or results that could have been fixed at any time in any update!

I really don’t like the skill personally. It doesn’t really stand out or make me want it in any of our builds for PvP. Useless in PvE. It just has a long cd, it misses way too much, it’s not fast enough, and when it does land you just get a single pull with chill and some extra lifeforce.

There just isn’t enough it would do for me to justifty its use. I think the only time I slot it is to troll people pew pewing on a tower or keep wall in WvW.

It’s just way too niche of a use and when you have utility skills the versatility of the skill is one of the most important things, especially for necros as our axe is borked, scepter and dagger is a lot of 1 spam, and staff has never really been about damage even though putrid mark can hit quite hard but you shouldn’t just be spamming that. Our utility skills really are needed for what little sustain/pressure we can put out. Moreso than other professions I believe.

Also it’s like thieve’s scorpion wire, you almost barely see them slot that besides trolling people on skyhammer, even then that’s just thieves goofing off.

Actually engi is just as bad, if you lock necro and engi 6-0 slots they are probably a bit more helpless, 3 weapons only the pistol can be dueled cause the others are shield and rifle.

Like necro engi relies extremely kitten utility to do anything, cause that’s always where their F1-4 come from.

No heal no F keys utility or elite a necro would pretty much always beat an engi cause better weapon loudout and swap power while engi can only load 1 set and rely on turrets/bundles to back em up. Necro is a small notch above engi in reliance on utility for anything.

The utility reliance pecking order easilly has engi higher to be honest just for clarity x3 no weapon swap power and F key needs 6-9 keys to get toolbelt relative skills. But yeah flip those keys on necro falls when it comes to things like mobility.

which will only get worse if anet goes ahead with the movement change they mentioned.

Guardian elite spec with longbow has bouncing cripple on autoattack if I remember correctly.

Honestly if they feel reaper/guard elite soft cc is going to be OP i’d rather they nerf that than the effectiveness of soft cc.

Oh yes I forgot about that, so yeah already putting DH and reaper in a grave, it would just be wiser to tone the specs down instead of hard nerfing everything else.

Yup, problem 3 – all the slow non-homing projectile issues is what makes it not commonly used.

It has been a solid like top 5 pick for 3rd utilty beside 2x stunbreaks, but realisticaly you can only use it <600 range and need to think/setup stuff not actually firing it when you need a gap closer.
And randomly miss/obstruct/sidestep/bodyblock/blind/block/dodge are just too common and u get 0% LF in those scenarios.

You just cant have a skill that does zero more than 1/10 times, and grasp fails around 50%.

Thankfully if you run the trait for extended duration you also get a flat 5% lf for using spectral skills which makes it not a total waste but that really isn’t much. In my chill build it still serves a purpose for LF if i don’t snare people with it, but anet COULD do with an update tweak on grasp so its not so dead useless even for a skillful player.

Why no body use this skill? Is there somethings that i should know?
I many situation i think is really usefull in WvW!
For me one of the most important is when the enemy escape and we can’t reach for our low mobility.

I am curious of the same, I use it but I suppose others do not so widely use it for the following reasons.

1: the given traits most use doesn’t allow for the pickup of the cd trait and spectral skills have high cds especially S-armor.

2: grasp does 0 damage dispute its cooldown.

3: grasp is a projectile (last I checked.) thus is is absolutely possible to easily waste it due to dodges weird/slow travel time which seems to make it miss easily (since it doesn’t appear to home in.) Ontop of this aegis blocks and projectile reflection easilly counter it.

The third is likely the biggest reason, its the lack of reliable usage that probably scares most off it since its entirely meant to yank people in but can every so easily miss.

But whats more traits relative to spectral skill seem shallow (but them I’m not a major necro player.) And scattered to the far winds, 1 makes you gave a flat 5% LF and increased duration of use (which the duration enhance does 0 to grasp) for using spectrals while another in a different line sets the cd trait and unless I’m forgetting one there aren’t any others other then outright alternate triggers like hitting 25% hp but none that add or enhance their performance.

So weighed against the other spectral skills grasp has an unsavory cd time frame simply to drag someone kicking and screaming to your feet, the chill doesn’t really do much at current for most either, despite having larger cooldowns the other spectral skills last for a few seconds and give you more Lf base don their function IE being struck.

Skillful players can certainly make use of grasp but the reason for its under-usage is due no doubt to the weight of its cd in contrast with its low success rate when other spectral’s outperform on a more stable rate.

Sorry this was so long but I hope it was informative and helpful to your question. I myself do use S-grasp on my necro alt cause it helps makeup in some small part for necro lack of mobility plus my necro actually is designed around a chill heavy focus grasp supports.

Pulling the reapers teeth out is a perfect analogy here, cause they DID hard sell us the chill as a means of controlling someone’s movement since this Is a melee shroud not a ranged shroud like the current necro F1

Its quite hard to picture a chill focused spec being useful when the center of its gravity was movement manipulation to make its attacks stay in range given instead of shooting globs of life you are slinging a big scythe and all.

all reaper offers with this change is A less damage from chilled foes (if you pick that trait.) and chill doing damage (again If you pick that trait.)

A future spec already hard nerfed out of existence after being sold on it for the chill function, pulling its teeth out is a perfect way to put it.

And who knows one of the specs we haven’t seen might actually be cripple focused similar to the reaper UUGH already hard nerfed if that is the case.

I am not even that into necromancer BUT the reaper got me so psyched up for the idea cause i always wanted to roam the battlefield swinging a big scythe and always hoped chill would become somewhat more then a random pop-shot condition, reaper gave both, i even made a concept build to utilize chill on a necro alt but now it all feels for naught and that’s just one profession, my main isn’t currently showing promise of growth either.

We can hope though, that anet does listen to the community and doesn’t go ahead with this bad change. If they got a legitimate excuse for it they should just TELL US instead of dropping a bomb and showing no sign of sending in a bomb squad to show us everything is gonna be alright.

Hopefully arenanet will listen to its community and not go through this this specific change, all else in what the discussed there is fine, nice refreshing changes but this bit towards cripple and chill I hope they do not go forward with.

Unless Anet backs off these changes the competitive aspect of this game is going to become pretty frustrating. Class balance is apparently going to get flushed down the mystic forge.

Not that they weren’t already doing that with railed choices in the new spec system, this is just another nail in the coffin…..

Hay remember that time you saved a teammate from a a war using bull rush by dropping a cripple on him so he fell short of downing your friend? well that’s all it is now, a memory you broke his leg but he still lept forty feet to kill someone.

An enemy caught a cold cause it was too chilly so he couldn’t run away, now he’s magically immune to hypothermia.

In no way is this anything but a huge nerf that puts a gap to a lot of things and takes away some clever play with cripple or chill that we got now.

Like I said i like/love a lot of the other changes but they aren’t worth it if i cannot pin my enemy down to kill them!

Hey hey! Remember that time you crippled an ele made them unable to run, how about the gs war couldn’t bounce off forty feet cause you chilled them, thus killing someone who was a nuisance to down int he first place?

Oh oh wait how about the time you crippled a thief so they couldn’t blink across the map? XD wait no, that last one never happened. BUUUUUT the previous kind of scenarios certainly did.

In a game where position and movement is key, why does anet seek to nuder non-damage conditions out of existence?

Some professions already are hard enough to pin down as it is, be it cause you are trying to slow them and run form an unfavorable fight or because they are fleeing and you refuse to let them live, yet here we are, anet immunizing movement ability’s so that chill and cripple do a big fat nothing.

WHY bother using chill anymore?Uhm cause its not a full on destruction of purpose, we (for the moment) still have the 66% cooldown affect and at a later time reaper chill damage but cripple? A GREAT BIG ZIP.

Cripple simple single purpose/function -50% movement that’s is, no other function save any derived form traits oh excuse me CORE SPECS and they don’t really give you a worth while incentive to use them most of the time and most of that is a small flat damage %

I am alright or love most of the other upcoming changes but this problem needs to be addressed.

This change will ruin the capacity to catch professions with an op movement system or set of skills, because lets face it, chill or cripple is the only way to stop them outside of immob and that one is the least sustainable of the three as it merely anchors you for a time.

Pin a war down with immob follow up with cripple/chill so they cannot leap duh heck out of combat on a whim or dog you down if you are trying to escape for example, this chance denies any retreat function to professions who aren’t able to blip across a map and makes those who can dart about like a bee uncatcable

How many times have you been caught in a fight with a thief a war an ele etc who speced for movement and you couldn’t get away unless you managed to chill/cripple? well kiss those chances goodbye.

Cripple has one simple function and thats being made utterly pointless, chill barely survives cause of the recharge affect and the upcoming damage for reapers.

SO PLEASE ANET DON’T DO IT LEAVE THIS STUFF ALONE

I like the idea, but wish that the design was more of an intricate pattern than (imo) a poorly drawn dragon.

The knee-clipping issue is also a problem for me.

I also agree that 600 gems is a bit steep- that’s only 100 gems less than an outfit. I can understand 2h weapons being that expensive, but would expect a 1h weapon (an offhand weapon at that) to be closer to 300 gems.

I guess I was naive to think that gem price would scale with amount of work/detail put into a product?

I think the cost is in part due to the tassel being something that flex’s when you move and that it’s animated to open/close But I agree it could do better to cost less then 600gems when it souly for an offhand weapon currently only 4 profession can use, most of which mind you don’t have a showoffy animation for the respective skills to make the fan look better.

Though some of ele’s main hand skills do wave the offhand around which supports the fan’s style.

Maybe anet should do these kinds of prices

offhand: 200-400
mainhand: 300-400
twohanded: 500-600

Provided of course the quality of the texture, mesh-design are adequate for the cost they want to charge and/or have a nice tag on like moving parts for animations glow/particles or flexi parts.

They really out to reserve prices of 600-800 for outfits/armorskin-sets as those cover more of the body then any weapon.

I really like this fan (and have bought it) But it would have been nicer to see an appropriate price on it to begin with, as I thought (pre-login price) to be like 400 gems but get in game to buy and find its 600…..

I for one like it, with or without the dragon, its got a nice dangly tassel and animates an open/close when drawn or stowed.

Too bad it has horrible clipping. Take a look at dulfy’s video. Unless you have an Asura, expect to see the 600 Gem skin clipping horribly with your character’s leg.

1: nothing is perfect
2: I have not seen this problem on my male sylvari.

Seems females like to crouch more which can cause said clipping issues.

It also reminds me of the art anet did years ago involving the mesmer with a fan. While I had hopped fora future fan weapon type this is the next best thing too bad not many professions can use a focus.
