Bottom line is the shinies make the game enjoyable for many a player. There’s a reason that the new path will be questing on a track to gain the new Legendaries. As to skins, that’s debatable, but having a guaranteed way to gain those items as well over time would be nice. By that I mean a way that doesn’t just involve grinding out gold day after day.

That said, people want to accept gambling with this game via BL keys bought with real money, so in the end it’s what players are willing to put up with. There’s also the fact that servers only stay up and new content only comes out with money going into the game, so as long as players see the for-real-money items as worthwhile, then that’s a choice. For in-game items, though, everyone doesn’t feel the same as you that it should just be accepted that no matter how long you do content and no matter how good you get at it you may never see a reward for it.

I think you missed my point, people shouldn’t focus so kitten just getting an epic reward, they need to enjoy themselves so they don’t grate on every little negativity.

Having fun is more important then loot, if you lose sight of that then aren’t you just treating this game like a job and somehow expect to get paid for it.

Posts like this only serve to vent, when you set your sights on something exotic and expect to get it right away you are asking for the impossible, no not exotic as in ‘item rarity’ Exotic as in ‘unique item or appearance’ such as items who’s skin is unique, or has a special function or is account/soulbound. These are items mean tot be acquired by chance over time, senseless grinding can arguable increase the odds of such a dorp but it equally is arguable to decrease the odds.

My answer to this is if its not acc/soul-bound then save the in game cash or buy it with gems then purchase it off the trade post instead of spending triple or higher the price on rng chance.

I should note i’ve been in this game for over two years and have been extremely active nearly every single day since launch, how many precursors have I gotten? a big fat 0 but i don’t mind, i understand this is a long journey to squire which means senseless grinding is just you showing off money to bling your character out.

Rng is rng, let the powers that be do what they may, if you frustrate yourself over simply having not gotten the gold in the mountain of trash then you are missing the point of this being a game, its to have fun and enjoy whatever reward you got, item or otherwise. The objective is to have fun, and enjoy it when you get a good reward or not as a fun experience you’ll never forget is far more valuable.

I personally have wanted a legendary also but i didn’t let it get to me as time passed and i hadn’t gotten one i knew one day I’d get one and my patience is now being rewarded as anet is too install the new system for acquiring precursors. Any item that isn’t acc/soul-bound is able to be bought on the tradepost, so rather then whining that it didn’t drop for you just save some gold and buy it. Legendary’s are purely vanity items even with swappable stats out of combat, their stats are no stronger then any ascended item of the same caliber, they are a lofty goal meant to be gained over time and if you get lucky for an early drop so be it. Fractel weapon drops might be unkind to some but that doesn’t mean you should rage over it, if your PR level is high then play some lower scale runs and have a good time with pugs or friends and enjoy what ever experience you have, who knows you might get lucky while having a good time and get what you want.

Remember guys this is a game, its about having fun with either yourself or others, not about claiming sick awesome weapons and cursing the game if you don’t get them.

Still having problems since the update. any one have any tips. my fps is all over the place from 6 to 60, also the screen keeps jerking when ever i walk. heres my rig

Have you tried cleaning you disk, or fragmenting it, making sure everything is up to date? Not just the drivers, as doing these things seemed to help with frame rate but its still rather capped at 15-25 average fps when before the patch it was better. I have a feeling its partially broken still even though it was said to be fixed.

Sounds like a fun idea but highly unlikely it will be implemented and if so it wont be near future, anet is pretty busy with heart of thorns development atm

Running dungeons daily helps, like ac, which provides 1 gold 50 silver for the path along with exp and another 25 or so silver, that’s over 3 gold for doing two paths a day in that event. Selling some of the loot bags you gain in world helps as well, example being moldy sacks you get from orrian mobs. If you amass more currency then you need or no longer need such as for a dungeon, you can always spend say ac tears from ascalonian catacombs for the armor that costs 180 then salvage it for ectoplasms and possible insignia drops which sell for good coin.

There is also karma conversions like orrian jewelry boxes which you can spend karma on to get its junk loot for coin and sell any valuable drops.

Another good tip is don’t salvage all the rare drops you get, rares that are lvl 75+ sell for decent pocket silver and adds up when you sell multiple. So if you spend your gold wisely and do certain things frequently to earn coin you will start getting a better income in game.

How long did it take you to get that outfit together? I only ask because it’s one of the more unique ones I’ve seen in a while.

I had to play around with it a bit to get everything just right, but i do make outfit in game that i post sometimes.

In honor of GuildWars2’s first expansion I have put together an outfit, Which I will wear from now until launch to show my support for all the hard work Arenanet has done over the years and for the great times we no doubt can look forward to in the heart of the maguuma jungle!

I’ve been with guildwars2 for quite a long time, and I’m proud of all the times I’ve stuck around, enjoyed all the content arenanet has given us to enjoy, and I eagerly await whatever they have in store for use in Heart of Thorns.

This outfit uses the Celebration hat which I obtained back in gw2’s launch days, delightfully dyed with Green apple and Cashmere dyes.

The chest is the Country coat featuring Green apple, Ivory and Pumpkin dyes.

The gloves are sylvari snapdragon cultural armor dyed in Wheat

Ascalonian performer pants dyed using Wheat, Ivory and Sand.

Lastly the boots which are Country boots dyed in Green apple and Wheat.

Topped off with the lovely Jade dragon lacerator swords for that extra sharp green look.

I’ve been in guild wars 2 for over 2 years. I always enjoyed the freedom to spend 1- or 1+ gold a day to get gems casually and over time, buying gem cards around events that have items of interest on the gems tore or need for tickets to buy weapon skins. But this new screen that hit me when i logged in to buy 300 gems to get the new gobbler item was like tripping on a mine and blowing up kinda bad.

Being forced to have a fixed value of gems to buy a fixed amount of gold and vice versa is a horrible idea, because of the sheer difference between how much you are getting between pack buys. I wanted 300 gold for example and here the lowest pack only offers 400 but demands 60+ gold.

This is a horrible idea, if arena net wants it that bad then please, do both, do pack buys and free value set so we can spend what we want or just flick a pack and auto grab a chunk. Tedious spenders won’t likely enjoy this cause they will be forced to buy more gems then they will want at a given time, causing an unwanted needless amount of spending to get the exact gem count we want for something.

So please arenanet as a concerned player who’s been in this game for such an extensive time, and promoted this game to friends as well as someone who buys gems cards at least once every month 90% of the time please don’t gridlock the currency exchange system to bundle buys.

Nice idea, but i’d value a spore tool more then a candy corn one, people get candy corn times ten trillion and use it junk it or dump it onto tp this there is a gross over stock most of the time, items which are currently more expensive but harder to gather like sprockets and spores deserve tools, cause their drop methods are in more restrictive area’s for gathering. I like any tool though that provides a bonus chance for something.

Given i both the original 3 perm tools at 800 gem each I’ve not spent any more on perm tolls other then the watchwork pickaxe and that was because of said % for sprockets, to me that justified the 1k gems So would enjoy seeing more perm tools that could give us potentially other mat drops be they event related mats or not.

The client isn’t pinging any exact error message repeatedly, it keeps giving me the 42, 48 and 58 error codes, and if i make it past the character select screen it white screens and gives me the error code 5.

Today though irl someone suggested that i might be having connectivity issues due to a very large sum of people drawn into the area on account of an event that happens annually around here however i don’t recall having such issues last here with gw2 around that time. The event wont end until Monday so if that is somehow affecting my power to get into gw2 hopefully it will clear up late Monday or over Tuesday.

However given lately a lot of major games have been affect by all the ddos attacks recently its hard to tell what the cause is anymore…. last week i had issues like everyone cause of the heavy ddos attack, and during this week i had weak mild dc issues which i suspected was ddos related, but as of Thursday Friday and today which is Saturday i have only managed to get into guild wars 2, 2-3 times and i end up either dcing within minutes or get white screen the minute i wp far enough to involve a loading screen or try to change maps.

For the last two days straight i have been unable to log in practically at all, i am lucky to reach character connection screen but then on loading screen past that i get white screened and dc. And what very very very few time is make it into the game i dc shortly after, has gw2 been under yet another ddos attack or is something else up?

Uh the original sells can be traded in game to an npc to get account bound variants.

I know we got some recently, but i didn’t have much of a dc issue or log-in problems. But all day today i have been 90% unable to log in at all, and the other 10% was getting pass initial log in to get dced on the loading screen or dc shortly after getting in game.

Datamined items are not to be assumed to be legitimate items until you actually see one being worn, craftable, dropped, or for sale. I make the assumption that 90% of the datamined chat codes are total kitten as far as “legitimacy” and are troll items.

sickle has been on the trade post for some time, anyone can preview it in game off the tradepost by typing in sickle or searching fine lvl 80 swords. so i wouldnt call it datamined when its been percent on tp for any multi-month to a year+ time frame, something only arenanet has control over

It uses the same ingame model as the “Copper Harvesting Sickle”. Not sure if its an actual weapon or not, but theres other weapons on TP that don’t seem like they should exist. Might be a bug or possibly items that are just rare/removed from the game.

I am positive this item has never been in game before, thus i figure its a mean joke anet has put there some time ago and never removed. true there are other tp goofs but they are otherwise weapons they could have been bought or sold at some time.

the link code is [&AgExjgAA] also known simple as ‘Sickle’ having the icon of an axe, rarity of fine being only a lvl 80. you can see it on trade post as a sword type weapon. i’ve been in gw2 since beta days and never seen this item in game. and i’m not much of a trade post diver and normally restrict my search fields when looking for certain items. but after tripping over this item i find its got 0 on tp and cant have an order placed on it.

so is this some sort of joke arenanet is pulling on trade post? the wiki literally has 0 info on this exact item and pings every other sickle item in the game.

illusionist’s celerity
For me i think there so called ‘promote unique builds’ annoucement for when they amde these changes is completely false for mesmers, A: because a root point spend in traits was at least 5 illusions for the celerity, moving it was not a bad idea, but making it go form 5 to 25 was, the reason is because now any mesmer playing a build not shatter/condition focused gets a serious power drop due to the lose of this passive trait power while none condition dmg/shatter builds will have to struggle and fuss over which power slots to sacrifice for training powers to reduce only given weapon cooldowns at the cost of powers that might have been what they enjoyed most while mesmers who wish to continue using celerity won’t be able to play unique builds on account of the fact they are having to give up 25 points just to get celerity back, in my opinion they should have made celerity a 15 point illusion not 25 because its too favorable to the shatter builds who focus on condition dmg, 15 would have made it more costly yes but would have still given other builds a chance to still use it without overdrawn point payment that restricts the rest of their point spending.

Ok this is sort of annoying, they bump up the cd on it that was bleh, making it possible to take retal is not a big deal it just balanced it more but the increased cd hurt it worse.

Really? we got it like they said we would, but they stuck it on a bad skill on the worst weapon in our arsenal, staff beats scepter for condition dmg and that’s all the scepter is good at and torment being on a defensive skill means that we cannot apply it at will like others who have torment can, on top of that anyone who knows the mesmer is trying to be pure condition dmg won’t attack you if they catch sight of you putting up your guard which decreases the odds we will do torment to anyone in pvp.

We lose celerity and get this? all shatter skills inflict confusion?!!! that should be grandmastered because its only good for condition builds that makes cry of frustration do 6 stacks instead of 3 why is that being made an easy access trait ability when its only good for shatter builds who of course are going to be condition dmg builds, making this the 5 point illusion power is like a booby prize because for players not running condition dmg/shatter builds this eliminates any reason to spend points in illusions.

to me these are some very bad changes they made that wont promote diversity in mesmer builds but repel it because things like celerity which allowed builds to be diverse and unique has been taken away and made only for specific builds dedicated to style of play.

I think you are confusing skipping useless trash with cheating.

A lot of people don’t learn that there are such things as endless respawns until pretty late into fractals. “What do you mean ignore the veteran and just DPS the boss.” Things of that nature.

Huggen the corner in the norn boss fight to avoid taking dmg when his ice falls on you, hooten int he tree like an owl to avoid mossman and his pets while hurting him. standing on the wheel to avoid nearly any and all dmg on the pre boss fight in the dredge room or trying to glitch through a wall in the dredge room etsetra are all expliotable glitchs virtually every single group i end up with willingly trys to exploit is a bannable offence anet has made that clear. this is not the same as just being reckless on the doors in dredge room or on the titan room but outright attempts to cheatand people feel its alright because so many do it but that does not make it right!

yes dashing past the monsters in solid ocean is suicidal not a glitch, but hoppen up so you can stand under the maw’s head and burn down his tentacles without any real risk of being killed is a glitch just as leaving the grawl shaman int he volcano in his dome for the sake of applying bleeds and burns as well as poisons in order to whittle him down instead of just breaking him out too simply abuse the fact he is able to take conditions despite being immune to actual dmg from attacks due to the dome.

thankfully the charr room glitch was fixed as well as the dredge room control panel walk through the back wall bug or the titan room glitch where people could attack the boss without causing the cutscene in order to gain a free advance.

I know full well the difference between a tactical terrain advantage, a risky play and an obvious glitch.

Ok I have enjoyed fotm since its release, but one problem has been increasing since said release. and thats exploiters. now i know the mods have said they are stepping up to shut them down but sadly lately most people stand and mock.

approximately 90% of all the fractal runs I go on have at least 1-2 people who attempt or suggest the group use a glitch in the given fractal room, and if its a glitch one person alone can abuse they in fact do so try to abuse. its getting so bad anymore that most of my latest runs in fact are 3-4 exploiters and I end up mostly getting kicked because i won’t coadhear with their desire to cheat. my most recent run very particularly has proven how bad the exploiter population is getting and how much they don’t care to follow the rules, my last party kept me on until we hit solid ocean then kicked me right out since i would not let them cheat int he last three rooms.

I would in fact be very nice if anet would path fractals so that you cannot be booted out of the party in solid ocean, in-combat or when the tab comes up after boss fights in each of the rooms ot avoid the ratio of exploiters in the group being enough to kick the honest players out when they worked hard to get to the end. It simply aint right when cheaters prosper and the hard workers are basically pushed under boot.

Another very helpful change to combat the massive issue of exploiters in fotm would be to make it so when you rick click a player and hit report that you’d in fact have the open to file it fore bug abuse/glitch abuse or exploiting so that the anet staff can more swiftly deal out justice upon these people who think they can do as they please when it is in fact abusing a broken part of the game.

I am simply tired of nearly every last run being a run I am booted from on account of the fact being i won’t cheat and will report those who openly cheat, or having to leave because i at the given time i only have enough time for one good attempt and i end up being partied with people who think its perfectly ok to cheat.

because for pity sake it aint ok to cheat no if ans or hows about it, you cheat and get caught you will be banned and where does that leave you? right no where, you cheated and end up with nothing so why bother? I know i never will but for crying out loud stop penalizing the people who like me refuse to exploit!

is the event broken on crystal desert server broken? i have taken all 4 of the needed items up and down the are its meant for but nothing is happening…

My guild is also glitched, I had alot of stuff researched. but as you can see it looks as though i have absolutly nothing but 16 influence which is wrong, My guild icon is there int he corner even though you have to have politics lvl 1 and guild emblem template researched but as seen int he pic like everything politics has no lvl researched!

I had over 1400 influence, lvl 1 politics, guild emblem template, art of war lvl 1, +10% pvp influence for 24hr, economy lvl 2, architecture lvl1 and guild workshop where all things that my guild had the yesterday but today its all up and vanished!

Managed to get it working finally.

If you cleared GW2 and can’t install from scratch then something in your OS or 3rd party programs are preventing it from installing. You can troubleshoot and try to find out where or what. But, i say just do a fresh windows installation.

Rename the GW2 folder to something else. Delete your local.dat. Try to reinstall.

I have been in gw2 since beta it wont let me instal a new client and my current beta client folder has no local.dat folder that i can find.

all i can find in the foldar is music arenanet about 14 items that say corrupted then have jumbled letters and numbers 1 says corruptedarchive and the last says local

The patch broke while it was installing now anytime i open the client it instigates an attempt to repair saying “repairing data archive….” but then at about 50% every time for over 2 hours now it freezes up then crashes please help

Having fun with the unhappy players zerg on facebook forums and what not? i seriously hope you guys are gonna fix this because if not everyone (myself included) who were unable to loot the chest at the end are very unahppy and wont likely take it, its not a threat but you honestly cant hold a one time event and only have a chest stay spawned a few minutes it simply aint gonna be accepted by the players especially when everything royally hits the fan as it has now.

DC’s, being pulled away by real life issues, being unable to log back in from dc’s or simply not being able to log in at all yeah talk about a seriously problem you surely have on your hands, you guys need to make a statement to let the players know what you are gonna do about this huge epic fail that just happened. V_V

As it stand while the trading market is by far better then any game i have played it lacks the means to provide to the curious shopper. So here is my idea.

Maybe arenanet could implement personal shop npc spawns? something that could be placed in world and remain there for a fixed number of days. Something you could purchase different skins for or more slots, that way players can come to it and look and see what that shop has itself instead of the endless sea of unorganized trade shop items. Sure you can narrow the field to say, consumables, exotic lvl 75 low price only. But you’d still likely get an unreal amount of listings.

If Anet did personal shops then players who wanted to make a living crafting ingame could setup shop and place items in it they wish to sell while they want to go out and play elsewhere and yet still allow players to view what their shop has to offer.

Example you want only weapons, two shops are next to each other, one is titled. “rare and pointy things” and the other next to it is called “yum yums tasty treats.” well then you know if you would look at the one that caught your eye, but you’d also have an idea by name what they were offering already so might be encouraged to shop around when you ge the urge to spend instead of just idling in one place scrolling through endless overpriced pages of items that you could care less about.

This would also help players who sold namely light heavy or medium armor types and a player was looking for souly one of those.

So what do you guys thing? a good idea Arenanet should consider or not?

this is in crafting because it would be a lot more helpful to the crafter looking for reasonably priced mats without spending a ridiculous sum on the trade shop cause the only ones there are sometimes well overpriced.
