At 4400 you’ve probably got the basics… This link provides an interesting table that provides AP by area. Allows you to get an idea of where additional AP can be sought out… Maybe WvW? Also highlights the importance of grabbing the temporary events for the short time they’re available… BoTFW is 250 and historically, they all add up to just over 1400 AP. Dailies can’t be overlooked either… 11 per day seems trivial, but tacking on 300 per month, while contributing concurrently to other achievements is just gravy.
Since you’re at 100%, I’m guessing that you are referring to the Explorer achievement and not Map Completion?
You can search the net for lists within the zones… or check you map again carefully for the areas that are still ‘blurry’. Yes, it does include dungeons and mini-dungeons.
I think you’d need to be a group of two from each server so that you could take turns rezzing… otherwise it will take you forever to work back to each other, and as mentioned you’re not going to get a badge with each kill. Also note that any enemy that wanders by will not share your enthusiasm, resulting in more badge-less deaths and wasted time.
Badges pile up pretty quickly just running with the zerg; it doesn’t make much sense to manipulate the system.
In addition to the good advice provided, some additional points to consider…
Sell Dragon Coffers… It’s a good time to work on the mobs as if you can resist the urge to chase after the dragon skins, the dragon coffers drop often and even with the market crashing, 2s apiece is a pretty nice and accumulates quickly at the current drop rate.
Sell Unidentified Dye… if you’re not particular to the color of your outfit, dyes seem to drop at a decent rate in low level areas (and that maybe strictly my impression). Regardless, at 15-20s, it’s a safe return rather than chasing after a couple of the rarer ‘jackpot’ colors, and more often than not ending up with colors that are worth 5% of the unidentified value.
Focus on completing your zone for the area completion reward… bonus coin, equipment, material… maybe a black lion key. You may be close to completing without realizing. Also provides you with a sense of purpose, if you find yourself wandering aimlessly.
Make a point of trying to accommodate your Daily into your adventuring. Even if you have no interest in the items that the vendors are selling, if you’re desperate you can sell 5 laurel for that same unidentified dye, which can then be sold for about a gold. If you can hold off, bank the laurels as they are always adding content to those vendors.
Minimize your use of WP… they can eat away at your funds, particularly early when coin is scarce.
Best of luck!
Number 1 might work if you could establish a reasonable effort/reward. Maybe a combination of Dragon Coffers, Z-Candy and Achievement points within the Dragon Bash event. Make it high enough that those who are truly interested will invest the time. Not sure what the threshold would be… maybe 2,000 coffers and 10,000 candy. Not sure what the total number of achievement points is, but say 80% of the total available might be reasonable. Or boost the numbers if those are deemed too reachable… but at least it would provide an option to obtain beyond luck.
I guess the problem would be that nobody would be using gems to buy the rich coffers…
I’m not overly happy with the cost, but when you consider the generous rate at which Dragon Coffers are dropping and that they are being sold at about 4s (last night anyway)… a couple of hours farming mobs will get you enough Dragon Coffers to pay for the Moa achievement. Farming for the mini would obviously take some dedication.
Is it still considered a ‘sink’ if the same event provides you with the means to offset the cost? Maybe… and who knows where the market on the Coffers will go… but for now the argument that penniless players can’t afford to play doesn’t seem valid when you can spend a minimal amount of time to earn that money through the same event.
L80… I was in a 15-25 area killing mostly dredge, sheep and deer. MF at 46%. Not really high density, but they go down fast and spawn very quickly. I had better luck with the coffer drops than previously camping a projector and waiting 8 minutes for a chance at 4. In those instances, as many time as I got 4, I got none. Just seems like low level mobs were a more efficient (and certainly more interesting) way to collect them.
Not that my luck in finding anything but candy and fireworks has improved…
…and very frequently, at that. No idea the drop rate, but I seemed to get a coffer roughly every 4 or 5 kills.
I found it difficult to even tag minions in a group of more than 2 or 3; they simply die too quickly. I don’t think it was the best design decision, but as stated the crowds will thin once people start completing the achievement. Mobs would seem to be a more efficient way of farming the candy/coffers so I’m hopeful that the hologram camping will be less of an issue once the first week has gone by and the achievement has been realized.
The holo creatures SCALE with the level zone you are in. 3 80s in a level 15-25 zone will one-shot them, go to higher zones and they are easy to tag with a group.
People don’t realize this and just camp a low level zone
You’re right, I didn’t bother to check that out… the low level areas were making the mob farming very efficient so I guess I was one-stop shopping. Good to know, thanks.

Too bad… I hadn’t checked the moa race out yet and just assumed that the betting currency would be the event candy, lol. Using coin will certainly curtail my interest.
How many time do you have to win to get the achievement?
Excellent post, OP. Agree 100%.
Hit 80 a little while ago, and am looking to refine (rebuild?) my build. I generally find that I’m pretty squishy, but not sure if this is my play or inadequacies with the gear. Most of my play is with PVE, though it would be nice not to be the weak link in other areas as well.
I guess what I would like is an evaluation on my build so far… looking at the stats, what would you expect from this build? Do you see obvious problems?
Power: 1,611
Precision: 1,682
Toughness: 1,410
Vitality: 1,238
Cond.Dur: 314
Boon Dur: 0%
Crit Dam: 45%
Attack: 2,611
Crit. Chan: 40%
Armor: 2,474
Health: 18,302
Cond Dur: 30%
Healing: 115
Ranger: 5
I am currently running with exotic whispering armor with Infiltration runes. Was thinking to swap the runes for Ranger. The 6 jewellery slots are a mishmash of stuff, all of which could use upgrading. Am sitting on a bunch of laurels, and figured to work an ascended item into the mix, but not sure on the direction for stat compliment. Using primarily bows only, usually an exotic shortbow, traits are 30-30-5-0-5. I’m still experimenting with the pets, but generally go with the Jaguar.
Opinions on your expectations for this build are greatly appreciated!
Thanks
Yep, Langmar is brand new as of a few days ago
Excellent news; case closed. I am relieved – thank you!
Losing out on the area reward is certainly annoying, but the possibility of having this affect the larger 100% Map Completion reward is very concerning.
I will ask one more time.
Have you revisited all areas starting from “CHANTRY OF SECRETS”?Believe me there were hundreds of people claiming that they received all rewards, and for most of them the problem solved after revisiting all the areas.
Chantry of secrets is visited during a Personal story, and because it has one POI, which you discover during the personal story (remember you are instanced at this moment during PS), than you aren’t getting the reward until you revisit it later.
Get the list of the areas from the wiki, and one by one revisit them.
It will help.Good Luck.
I appreciate your feedback, however as mentioned I am not referring to the overall Map Completion reward but specifically the one for Ashford Plains… I don’t know if Chantry of Secrets is associated with the Deadend POI in the Bloodcoast area or as in instance if there is an additional POI, however I will keep it mind if I have a problem once I reach 100% map completion.
Thanks
plains of ashford has a WP added recently, if you previously had the map at 100% and got the reward you will not get another reward when you find the new wp and return the map to 100%. Same thing applies to brisban wildlands, you only get map completion reward once.
If Langmar was the added WP, then that could very well be the case. I was surprised that I would have left a single element undiscovered, but I didn’t realize that they modified maps like that and as such it didn’t occur to me as a possibility. I’ll check out the patch notes to find out which WP was added and when, to confirm if that is at least a possibility of what happened. Thanks for your response.
I just completed Blazeridge and there were more Bats than usual… I can’t be more specific at the moment, though. A lot of Ogres, as well.
The white definitely stands out more with some great contrast.
I look at the white, and I see blood splattered on top of the armor.
I look at the blue, and I see the red as coming from beneath the armor… like it’s part of your body; gives you a demonic glow.
Depends on what you’re trying to achieve, however my vote would be for the blue if you’re going for that traditional “evil” look.
There are a few ghosts at Langmar Estate WP in Plains of Ashford that spawn very quickly… slow enough that you’re rarely overwhelmed, quick enough that you’re rarely waiting for the next one… great spot if you just want to grind ’em.
jumping should be considered a free evade/dodge.
If it was free, why would you use dodge?
If it wasn’t free… can you imagine waiting for the recharge during those jumping puzzles?
Is there a Jump booster to increase range for a short duration? Haven’t seen one; that would be useful!
I also had the same problem… I have completed about 80% total map and have always received a reward for completing each area… This past weekend, I completed Plains of Ashford, and didn’t receive anything. Langmar Estate was the last objective to reach.. the only aspect that was a little different from previous areas is that I had left Ashford for considerable time with that one last waypoint undiscovered. Ashford now recognizes that I am at 100% for that area… yet no reward.
Losing out on the area reward is certainly annoying, but the possibility of having this affect the larger 100% Map Completion reward is very concerning.
