I don’t understand the mentality of not wanting a dungeon finder from some people.. Do you just assume adding a dungeon finder makes this more like WoW or something? What logical answer is there to not adding a dungeon finder?

It is simple. Lucky with crits. It happens. I have been downed by warriors and messers in seconds due to a string of crits also. Sometimes you just get unlucky. When I was running a combination of zerker and ravenger gear I routinely took necros and all other classes down while they tried to defend themselves.

Funny thing is that when thieves run with that kind of gear we can die walking through a red circle. We have nothing in the defensive department. Everything slaughters us when we roll in that gear.

No problems other than the 2 hours to find a group.

Then the frustrating DC that leaves you in a group of 4 with ever increasing difficulty.

I spent the entire day in such a wasted chunk of my life.

Fractals have made me waste more time lg than ever in gw2.

Then they make is so us US can’t play cross server with the Euros.

Never has this game needed a cross server dungeon/group finder more than now.

Just wait until you get further. It is harder to fond a group. Then a few weeks from now without insentives no one will help out the laggards.

Yeah, worst content update ever. It is like Anet is on crack or something and forgot what this game stands for.

Or allow people to get an increase to their MF if the scale down to other people’s level. Every level you jump down to help is 1% increased MF. The person still could not progress to higher tiers, but wouldn’t be wasting time if they jumped down to help a new guy out for a few hours with anywhere from 1% to 20% increased MF buff.

Just scrap the entire idea of increasing the stats over current exotic gear! Allow the ascended gear the option to have a one time infusion to tune it to FoM agony so people can go further. Allow higher scale runs to offer more fractals and achievement points ever few levels. Then have gear skins available for FoM just like ‘old’ dungeons.

This also means future content releases can follow similar patterns. Introduce another ‘new’ stat that can only be acquired by running the new content.

But I repeat not superior gear.

What made me mad was that I had to do the event on their schedule. Since I had other things going on, I didn’t get to enjoy the event and now never will. Does sent really want to create one time events like this all the time?

I sure hope not because it excludes people more people. I could care less about loot. I will never get to experience this part of the ga,me now.

How Botters ruin games

This is a descriptive explanation for those that do not understand how important it is to remove botters from the game. I will try and keep it short and sweet.

First, botters run a program (A 3rd party program) that allows them to manipulate a character while they are away. It would be easy to setup multiple accounts and have multiple accounts patrolling a spot together to kill things. They all tag it and get credit. They level up and they get drops.

These drops are then flooded into the market. When you sit in one area and farm for a log period of time, the types of drops are kind of all the same thing and a lot of it. If you have 5-15 characters all with bags full of loot, that is a drastic supply into the market.

So, while their bots are getting loot, they are sitting on another character controlling the market prices. First, they sell a bus load of the rare materials they have been farming and make cash.

They could sell to you, but that is small time gold increase. They manipulate the market now and control that commodity and make it so that everyone is paying top dollar, people who underbid are bought and resold at their price. This is why you will 1, 1, 1, 1, 30, 1, 1 on each level of cost in the TP. That 30 is the price they are setting. Eventually they will come in and buy out the 1, 1, 1, 1 below the 30 and add them to the 30. After awhile, they will spread out the huge volumes of drops and reduce the cost of that particular drop to a fraction of the original cost.

This is why when you are leveling crafting, you will see that one ingredient costs barely a 1/3 the cost of all the others and you go, “well, obviously I’m going to make my insignia with these and save some money.”

As they move from controlling one rare drop to the next the gain more and more control over the supply in the market. Eventually, casual players will not be able to make any money on the TP because all the good drops have been flooded into the market by botters.

Since the casual player is making barely enough to gear up, level crafting, and buy fun stuff as they get to 80, those with time limitations buy gold. They see that buying from gold sellers is a much better way to get more bang for you buck and buy illegally.

I spent over an hour in the Norn zone with HotW dungeon and ran around and reported botters. I told others around me to report them also for botting. Then I had people whispering me telling me not to report them and that I should just go enjoy the game and leave them alone. I was almost overwhelmed by the amount of whispering I got from various botters telling me to stop reporting their bots.

I sent in reports on them as well. They are still there and still botting. Anet, you are losing more and more money every moment you allow 3rd party gold suppliers to actually make money off your game when you offer a way to buy gold with your in game store.

Please don’t merge my post with your closed post. That is just as bad as governmental censorship. If you don’t want us complaining about it, then fix the problem.

I think it should be based on badges, guild influence, and a petition that get placed on a sign near the Asura gates. This petition would require a certain number of people to sign and agree that the person in question is a leader. If a guild is large enough to fill one out themselves, then obviously they have enough people to create a zerg. I was thinking something like 100 signatures in a 3 day window.

How to avoid a back stab you don’t know is coming?
Answer: keep moving. It is hard to maneuver to your back in 3 seconds if you always move. If you are not moving at every single available moment, you are one of the bads.

The problem isn’t stealth. Heatseeker was nerfed. If you still die to heart seeker spam, it is because you turned your back and ran like a bad.

No competent thief spams heart seeker, ever.

-The haste utility needs a longer cool down.
-Heart seeker needs its range reduced slightly so it cannot close the distance of an evade.
-33% increased speed while stealth needs to be removed.
-20% more damage to players under 50% needs to be under 33%.

There, now the bad thieves out there will suddenly realize they suck because back stab is harder to start fights with and heart seeker spam even misses the target more often.

These changes will make bad thieves obvious and hardly effect good thieves at all.

What do you consider the top 3 PvP professions?

Thieves can devastate guardians if they put the 60% boon removal on One of their weapons. Mes are tricky, but short bow will remove the fakes fast or if nothing else reveal which is the real mes. I have come across some hard to get down necros though.

Last hit = 50% of current bonus.
Most damage by team = 50% of the current bonus.

This allows a team to get the full bonus if they stop a team from ninjaing the kill, but if the other team successfully takes last hit, they negate the bonus by getting a bonus equal to the other teams. This prevents the team that did the work from getting the worst end of the situation, but also allows the other team a chance to stop them from getting a bonus.

So many assumptions made in this thread.

It always boils down to can pug’s do the content. If you made the mechanics too hard for pugs, then they will complain. If you make it easy enough for pugs, hardcore gets upset.

Finding the happy medium is near impossible. A better dev tactic would be to add more mechanics, but take away the instant kill shotskitten

I’ll admit I’m not a top tier player. I pug dungeons in games and this game is zero fun in pugs. Even if I know all the mechanics of a fight, I can’t always stay alive until my dead group members finally make it back to my location. As a thief, many times I have to just escape and regroup. I can’t take hits for kitten in this game.

If you “spec for dps” you’re going to just die, end of.

It’s all about how you allocate your skill points, and if you have any toughness/vitality gear. I run as a Necromancer, and I don’t die all that often. I’m usually last to die if it’s a wipe. I have a good amount of toughness, my profession has high health aside from any extra vitality I have, and I bring utility skills. If you “spec” just for DPS, expect to be squishy.

If you going in to dungeons in full power precison crit damage gear, you are going to have a bad time.

Did I say that I was stacking myself for pure DPS? These posters are making assumptions about my build.

I actually have 30 points in Vitality. I have vitality on my weapons. I have vitality on some of my trinkets.

I never said I was stacking pure damage stats. I just said I was a thief. I have wvw gear and pve gear.

People don’t mind a challenge. In fact the challenge is what makes activities enjoyable. Something needs to give though because right now you placed amateurs against professionals. I get scaled down to whatever dungeon I’m in and that means that I die about as fast in each one of them. That being about 3 hits.

The amount of damage I take when I’m in a dungeon is just plain stupid. I’m a thief and I have full exotic gear, minus weapons. I can still get killed in 3 hits from a mob in a dungeon. I evade. I use skills to stealth to avoid damage, but there is only so many things I can do before my survival skills are on cool down and my endurance is too low to evade.

Then on top of that, you designed the dungeons to throw more mobs at us that we have people in our group. What happened to the idea of everyone takes turns tanking? There are no turns. There is just hectic focus fire on a target and picking up fallen players faster than they fall down again.

Some fights are so stupid for melee that I literally pew pew with my short bow and just pick up people from one downed player to the next.

This isn’t fun. You don’t play a game to feel like a worthless POS. You play fantasy games to feel like the hero. Why else would you have put all that effort into the personal story. You did that right. You made us feel like heroes. You did not do that with dungeons. You make us feel like amateurs trying to best professionals. Then you make us take on two professionals at once and then tell us to take turns.

I’m just glad that wvw is so much fun. I’ll continue to play for the wvw, but I have had my last dungeon run. I just can’t do it anymore.

I personally suggest that you just drop the HP for the silver mobs to about 1/2 of what they are currently and slow their run speed down slightly so we can move to avoid them easier. Leave the gold mobs alone.

I just had another worst dungeon experience ever so sorry if I sound bitter. This is a game. Games are fun. Your dungeons are not fun. The challenge far out weighs the reward. Please find a happy medium don’t nerf the dungeons into easy mode, but make them more reasonable.

Loot is fine. I don’t care about the loot. I want the dungeon to be fun.

How to make WvW better

If one world is dominating, why can’t the other two worlds be automatically aligned. Make it so they cannot attack each other. Make it so both sides can retreat into each others keeps if they need to escape.

If the match up is so unbalanced that a single world can control every poi, then just combine the two underdogs into 1 team and make it 2v1 on each’s borderlands.

For example, if world 1 is dominating completely, then allow world 2 and 3 to spawn at the Northern location in both world 2 and 3’s borderlands. When this alliance happens, the two underdogs will have their world colors merged into a single color. This should only happen after world 1 has controlled the maps long enough to guarantee that nothing would take the lead from them.

The two worlds that were forced to ally would have their score divided based on a percentage calculated from the amount of time each world spent playing. So if world 2 had 75% of the population (based on time spent playing), then they would get 75% of the overall score.

In real world wars IoJ and SoS would have formed an alliance by now. They would have an iron clad alliance based on survival.
