the mesmer skill POWER BLOCK “enemy skills that you interrupt have a increased cooldown(15sec)”.and this skill has no internal cd.ppl can easily interrupt every enemys healing skill and make it 15sec to cool down.if ppl use this skill properly which isnt difficult to master,most of us wont able to heal for even once untill get killed(to every class who need time to cast healing skill).tell me if im wrong.

This ‘problem’ could easily be solved if they’d allow us to use a Transmutation Charge to skin a heavy armour piece with a medium or light armour skin, or any of the other combinations. I for one would love to see my female human Elementalist running about in heavy Flame Legion armour.

If you don’t like the heavy armor skins, play a medium or light class? Or look at some of the more elite heavy skins like from dungeons or cultural armor. If you still don’t like any of those, I guess you could wait for the expansion as that is when new skins are the most likely to come out.

yes i have one ranger..medium armor was so great on my ranger but i love my guardian better cuz its good in tpvp. i know ranger can be tough too but after 500hrs on ranger pvp i still think guardian is better

Hi Glory – just wondered whether you’ve considered using any of the Outfits? The “Shadow Assissin’s” is one that I sometimes use to conceal heavy armor that I don’t like.

Its just personal preference and taste. There’s plenty of people who would find it the opposite of yourself. No harm in disliking or liking art, except you find it hard to play the game.

1k5hrs on my guardian and 1/3 of it was spending on finding armor piece….another 2/3 was hoping for anet make good ones

You’re kidding, right? The boots on heavy armor look so big, bulky and heavy both on male and female that if there were boots like that in real life they wouldn’t be able to walk they’d be so heavy.
It’s the shoulders that are too big.

Armor aesthetics rely heavily on what type of physique you have chosen for your character also.

…and certain physiques look better wearing certain types of armor.

Try using a total makeover kit (if you have one laying around) to preview the different body types available, and be amazed at how much it affects the size and shape of your different armor pieces.

i have bought 10 of them.but none of the body builds fits heavy armor set. only makes shoulder bigger an bigger

sorry about bad english but this problem has troubled me for 1 and a half years.when i look at every heavy armor set in gw2 on human male body i can feel something wrong about it. so i looked up to some other armor type like medium and light on other classes or from some other games.i noticed these heavy armor set in gw2 is very much against aeshetics on human male body.
1.look at 1st pics of heavy from dungeon HOTW.the boots is too much slim compare to shoulder.when this character running you can see from behind that he has such small legs and feet.
2.the 2nd pic is from gemstore.still we can see ankle part is slim and upper part of body is not match to its feet.
3.3rd pic is from my ranger.now this armor set is perfect from every angle i can tell.good job on medium armor.
4.4th pic is from some other game.aesthetically speak this one is much better than the first heavy armor.
every second playing my guardian makes me feel i m controling a man with chicken leg.i didnt expect anet would change it 1year ago so i rerolled a ranger. but now with the anouncemant of HoT and revenant. i hope i could get some new heavy armor set.it dont need to be fantastic.just be normal plz.

i have checked all the heavy armor set on human male.all of the boots are very much slim and dont match with other body parts size wise.plz fix it.enlarge human male legs would be great.

Just as a note in case you or others were not aware, that setting only affects the textures on other player’s characters and NPCs, not the textures on your own character.

Disabling it (or it being forced disabled for some as you are aware) can actually increase your frame rate when around a lot of other players, as well as shorten loading times when loading to an area that has a lot of players (Rata Sum accountancy waypoint, for example).

Basically, if you don’t care if other characters have lower quality textures, it’s better to have it off. But I can see your point of wanting it fixed if you are one that really wants other character’s textures to be of high quality.

yes i just want other ppl looking good too.my pc is capabale of handling high res texture character.i can get 30+fps with all maxed out setting b4 that patch so i dont see why devs forced it disabled on dual core cpu.true that at teq fight or prime time wvw it drops significantly to around 10.but thats not something always happening in tyria and i dont want spend another 1000 dollars for new laptop just because this weird change.anyway good talking to you

I would disagree and call that cherrypicking. WoW has released a HUGE amount of content in its lifetime. Hell, between the time that guild wars 2 was released and now, WoW has released 2 full expansions complete with new continents, combat revamps, new skills, and new dungeons and raids. Whether those expansions are good or are a better method for delivering content is up for debate. However, one thing is certain: if you add up all of the content that guild wars 2 has released since the release of the game in 2012, it is pretty meager. Charging a sub probably isn’t a good way for Anet to make money at this point and would probably alienate the most of the playerbase, but one thing is certain: Even though the LS content is free, it just isn’t enough. It is by no means even close to what other large MMOs such as WoW and FF14 offer in terms of new content.
It really is sad to see honestly. I love playing this game and do believe that if the Arenanet can get their s*** together, they could blow every other MMO out of the water in terms of quality. Everything Arenanet needs is there. Beautiful and engaging game world? Check. Cool and Unique Classes? Check. Probably some of the best open world gameplay in the MMO industry? Check. They just need to pull everything together and push out some new substantial content. Not rehashed encounters and events. Not gemstore RNG grab bags. Real content to pump some life into the game that takes more than a few hours to complete and has some decent replay value. As a former employee of Arenanet said on glassdoor: “A studio on the cusp of greatness hindered by poor management decisions. ”

what kills ff14 for me is that grinding there is torture…I m actually an high end hardcore raider type player(cleared T9). but that grinding for animus/novus/nexus weapon is really aweful.u have to stand at specific spots for like 2hrs or even 4hrs each doing nothing to wait some thing spawn. I mean doing nothing but pay attention to ur screen so u can get something down in 10min or another 2-4hrs waiting ahead .u need to do this stuff repeatedly 9times to get animus weapon.thus sums to 18-36hrs staring ur screen while u cant do anything but wait.and this even not the worst part.cuz after u got animus weapon there are novus and nexus ahead.they are much more harder.someone may compare this to legendary weapons in gw2 but that’s totally a different things. at least u have something to do when u grinding not staring ur pc like idiots for 20+hrs repeatedly .kitten its not a game,its torture

You could always go do your monster kills for the Trials and teleport back in between to see if it’s up.

Or you could do what I did and minimize game and do something else while listening for the completely obvious FATE music, or play something on a handheld.

Edit: However, I would still give that point to FFXIV. Because at least for my Trials, I can solo them except for dungeons, which are easy to get. To get map completion here to get a required item for crafting a legendary, I pretty much needed to actually switch servers to get the WvW map completions.

You automatically get screwed on those if you happened to pick a small server that just gets trounced.

u are right about legendries .but they are not same thing.its between wants and needs. you need a nexus weapon cuz it has better stats. But u don’t need legendary cuz u can have ascended instead. u may want it . u don’t need it.so even I have to grind the same thing in gw2 I wont feel tortured. I can do it whenever I feel like doing it but in ff14 u must do it or u cant get better

while I have to say ff14 has more player base for now. maybe human nature needs grind somehow. all that I told myself when I play ff14 was I need better gear so I can fight harder and get more better gears. once ppl reach that point when there is no gear to pursue .there comes an expansion.so after done this 1or 2 times u may see clearly that you been played by numbers and stats. I m very much appreciate that anet stand in their ground not bring gear progression. its hard to stick to this while everybody doing the opposite. I know without gear progression it wont get players stick to games like life being ruined. maybe it can not reach the goals set by founder devs due to lack of revenue after 2years .gw2 still marked itself on mmo history cuz they chose the lonely path even they knew its gonna earning less money.

i have posted 2 threads about this issues days ago and submitted support ticket.after talk with support group, they told me they didnt know about this issue until i told them and they dont have contact with graphic devs team.so it probably gonna stay this way or we could put more threads see if things gonna change.but personally i think this is really a bad idea cuz i m running on same rig with op and i have average fps 25 with all maxed out graphic setting before.so there is no need to disable this on dual core cpu.i dont need 30+fps.20+ is fine for me

This was intended…sort of. “High-res character textures” will no longer be available for low performance CPUs(most dual core) since it can be incredibly demanding on performance; on CPUs like these it will make the game unplayable. The grayed out texture quality bit was unintended and will be fixed.

This was a very minor part of the changes that went in, none of which I would qualify as “the magic fix”. As I mentioned it’s been incredibly difficult to ascertain what some of you are experiencing and thankfully our changes helped some of you, but for others it did not. We will keep working on it, chipping away at the issues we find.

Thanks all for your feedback and apologies for the hiccup. I will keep you posted if we find a smoking gun.

You say that low performance CPU’s no longer can use high-res textures, i completely understand. But what i don’t understand is why i can’t? I have a quad core CPU, it’s a Intel® Core™ i5-2430M CPU @ 2.40GHz. I’ve been running the game fine for the last 2 years. Can you help me?

Your processor is dual core with hyper-threading. In Windows Task Manager this appears as 4 boxes but its not actually 4 cores, just 4 hardware threads. The texture quality drop down fix is on the way so you will at least be able to use “High” textures again.

I see about half a dozen posts on this in this forum. Has anyone reported this via the in-game reporting feature? I know the Devs are aware of it (one responded in another thread), but the Devs that solve technical issues get direct info from in-game reports, not something reported on this forum (or even the BUGS forums), tho I know both are monitored by Anet directly.

i have been doing that everyday since halloween patch.i dont know how long i can stand.pretty tired to just log in and report this bug then log out…just cant stand playing a game without max out graphic setting

Start the Guild Wars 2 launcher.

Uncheck “Remember Account Name.”

Uncheck “Remember Password.”

Close the launcher.

Navigate to the location "C:\Users\YOUR USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Guild Wars 2

Locate and delete local.dat from this folder.

Once deleted, go ahead and start the launcher again.

here is a screeshot taken after reinstalled whole windows7 system and gw2 clients.
system is clean cuz i use format disk to delete it.
i have notced that there is a “GFXSettings.Gw2.exe.xml” in the folder u mentioned above.it seems record all the grapich setting of gw2. its value is false .i think its the reason why the box is greyed out. and my computer is qualified(win7 64bit intel i5 cpu geforce 750m 2gb card and 8GM ram)

its not working. i have done this several times.then i uninstalled all gw2 clients and redownloaded it.still not working…after that i tried reinstall and upgrade my video driver and still greyed out. so at last i deleted whole windows 7 system(format hard disk) and reintalled whole drivers and gw2 client. it took me 8hours to finish these stuff but still. i cant tick that “high res character texture”box.this happend after halloween path and didnt get fixed by the lasted hotfix. after all these i m pretty sure its a bug and plz fix it. there is nothing i can do here
