The animation shows the GS being thrown and you see the projectile go forward but nothing happens. All it does is draw aggro. There’s no hit mark or return animation of the sword coming back. It’s reacts like it’kittenting a wall and then disappears.
Threw it many time at a line of mobs and all it did was aggro all of them, not one hit registered.
Don’t know if this helps but I occurred crash on exit 9 months ago and just last week, as in proper exit game from options menu, where the game would black screen on desktop, lockup the pc for at least a minute then recover. I would get gw2.exe crash in in Event Viewer. Happened with 2 diff cards, a 560TI and and 950. I don’t update Nvidia drivers contantly if everything is running stable, I leave it alone.
Both times, my HDD was fragmented over 11%. Both times I de-fragged and it went away. I can guess with all the patching, perhaps textures or data wasn’t loading fast enough. Maybe try that and see. Also as one other suggested, running the -repair on a copied shortcut may fix it as well.
I’ve done this JP hundreds of times. The first puzzle section where the glowing orb shows up, you follow the torches to go through the walls that you can walk through to get to the other side, is pitch black. You can’t see anything except for the very entrance area where the orb is. It’s as black as the very last section where you jump on the pillars, waiting for the light to come on to see. I’ve always ran into that first section and just ran the correct path with no issue. Did something change?
Also, I noticed in Diessa, there is a spider nest cave area where a champ is in the back. Near the champ is a small path to the left that is overexposed in contrast and the textures are like glowing silver. The character also takes on this effect. You can see the difference in the lighting from the rest of the cave walls.
After updating the game and playing for quite a long time in two different sessions, each time I logged out, the screen went black and locked my PC up. No response to key strokes. I tried cntrl +alt+delete a couple times then the Windows key. My front panel HDD light was periodically flashing. After a minute or 2, the PC started to cycle into task manager then started to launch security settings, which I cancelled. Don’t know if that was because of lag in the system not catching up to key strokes or not. This started the same day I updated the game and not before.

I played with the settings under graphics and saw no changes. I never changed the settings from what I had set when I installed the game at launch but I did try this before posting.
I just noticed for the first time, when entering an area or zone via WP or coming out of the Dragonball event, the screen brightness and saturation was darker than it should be, then you see it adjust and go normal. It reminds me of dynamic contrast in tv’s where it adjusts to light conditions in the movie but this doesn’t keep adjusting.
For instance, loading out of the Dragonball event into Crown Pavilion, the screen was 10-20% darker, reds were deep, anything black was muddy and overly dark and then you see it adjust to normal. I teleported to a few zones via way points and every load had the same effect, depending on how dark the particular WP area was. I thought this was Splendid Mode on my monitor that I may have enabled but it wasn’t. I loaded a few games and none do it. It wasn’t doing it during the Christmas events at all and I ran a GTX 560 TI and changed to a GTX 950 SSC in the middle of it.
It’s not like the gamma issue posted a few pages back.
Had a lost connection maybe 2 times when game first launched. Today I fire er up, download the patch and start my Eberwouke story line quest and as soon as I start the first small battle or by the third one in the streets, I lose connection. 5 times about 2 minutes into each log in.
Seems there is little reward for killing anything, as far as weapons/armor. Thank God they toned down the butter. I’m crafting my own armor and weapons but I rarely get any heavy armor or weapon drops at all. If I get any armor, for some reason it’s fine and medium and weapons I get something not used by my profession. That’s some bad odds as a warrior has the greatest variety of weapons choices. First time I took on a veteran tree in Wayfarer I figured something would drop as a reward and I found out since then you don’t get anything.
I’m on Henge and it’s a ghost town. Snowden was almost completely barren all through map completion. From leveling and mat farming for weeks, off and on, I see a couple people here and there, literally. Last night I was farming iron ore and no one was there. I’ve been in Lornar’s Pass now for a couple weeks and again, practically no one around.
I’ve been trying to do the events in the Icedevils Waypoint area as well as the skill point and can’t get a person to reply in chat and running around doing the other areas, again I see a couple people. I’m getting used to not seeing anyone around. I died half a dozen times in the Icedevils mining cave trying to get to the skill point and POI because the respawn rate is 5 seconds and you get mobbed by a veteran bear and his mob that run down the ramps out of nowhere, that I can’t take them all on with Skritts swarming you as well. Not a soul replies in chat, no one around for the events in that area. Couldn’t get anyone to reply to LFG to kill the Steam Champion so I can get that Waypoint or the Ice Elemental Vet that’s near the bridge where you wipe the graffiti and stop the rock slide. I went AFK and waited to see if anyone would come by. Even Hoelbrak is barren. Nobody around doing the Veteran Imp either. This has been like this since late September
This could be fixed, especially if there is going to be additional content that will extend the map geographically. Pay to use the teles, so the money sink is still in place. Offer mount rentals for in game currency, again for the money sink. Offer to buy mounts using gems. Put up a bunch of different mount types to chose from, run some specials here and there on a featured mount at a discount. If you want to make the world seem more vast, then slow the mount movement speed a bit. Some of the fares for traveling within the same area are rediculous.
Personally I am playing this game solo, more than any other MMO I’ve played, even more than some single player games. Even with a certain single player RPG you had 3 other NPC’s to play with and control. I RARELY even see players running in packs of 3+ all. No one wants to pay to go all the way across the map and all the way back or hoof it which takes a pretty good wait. Oh and what if a person has not discovered a certain area yet? How are they supposed to portal?
I haven’t discovered the LA area yet, so places like Queeensdale, Sparksfly were completely buried for me so I hoofed it. By the time I got there, I dreaded walking back. So at 94 silver, and needing to buy fine mats to craft, cause we all know how plentiful they are, you start missing a freakin mount.
I do see one issue with mounts though. The Land itself is closely populated. There are more mobs than I’ve ever seen packed together in such small areas. Paths are not save traveling havens, so I could see people kiting minitours by the dozens towards unsuspecting players unless they change the code to not attack another player when the mob is removed from their general spawn area.
Hey Broski, you can add me. I’m on your server. I’ll PM you.
I just hit this Durmand Priory decision last night and looked it up specifically because I was told the choice I make is permanent. I was going Vigil anyway as a warrior but wanted to read more about it first. If you missed that in the dialog then you missed it, but she does tell you it’s permanent before you get to talk to the 3 NPC’s.
Seems no matter what choices people have made they weren’t happy. Here’s the post I read of others that missed the permanent part.

I tried this too yesterday and couldn’t get anyone to party up with me. No guildies on and no random friends on either. I wasn’t even going to attempt to do it alone and few people were lower levels than me and we would not survive it. By that time, the servers crashed and I gave up.
Not a complaint just a comment….I’m trying to figure out why all the events weren’t launched together and run for a 2-3 week period so everyone can do them within the same time frame, whenever they want. I never got a chance to do Act 1 due to work and yesterday was my best chance at doing the current events. Coming off another FtP MMO that has holiday/seasonal events all the time, they are held in both high and low levels and run for a designated time frame. Their trick or treat event takes place in towns, where a mount on safe paths or portals can take you Plus some events that offer titles with stat buffs and nice items are allowed once per day so for a few weeks you can take a shot at it when you can.
I don’t really like the GS, myself. I’ve run across some opportunities to use it thinking I’m gonna kick some butt with it and instead stay in fights longer than necessary.
Just last night I found a nice lvl 35 green with 36 power and I forget the condition damage. I came across a Vet Skelk and thought I would beat it easily.. I ended kiting it while diagonally bunny hoping cause I was down to less than 100 health. I went back with my crafted lvl 30 sword and shield, current lvl 38, and beat it easily.
I just don’t like the slow speed, it opens you up to knock backs and interrupts where you would have been able to get off an attack.
Well I still say, nice offering to those in the community who don’t know about it and want to use it. Personally not for me.
Well that is correct, but it still can be done. I don’t know how bad the game looked for you based on monitor calibration and monitor capabilities but on my Asus VH236H with some RGB and other tweaks, colors look natural and gradient.Lighting looks more natural instead of full on. Maybe it’s because I have the back light, contrast and brightness tweaked so games don’t scream at me.
All I’m saying is in some ways it looks good but overall, there is a lot lost and looks more unnatural than the game already does.
This injector doesn’t really do any more than the Nvidia Control Panel can do. You can change the Digital Vibrance, adjust gamma, scale the color values, sharpness and in game options to disable the lighting will bring in the draw distance detail more.
From all the screenies I’m looking at you can tell there are a whole lot of color values that are missing, over saturated and muddy looking. The shadows seem to be gone and gives it a way too cartoony look.
If you calibrate your monitor correctly and use CCC or NVCPL, you should be hitting these color and light values naturally without the need for an injector, while keeping intricate detail in the graphics visible.
This actually reminds me of what Kingdoms of Amalur looks like, which is not bad but KoA was designed for over saturation in colors and certain light effects to darken areas while keeping the glow of the world around you.
Personal preference and opinion only, but thamks to the OP for bringing something to the community even though it’s not for everyone taste.

Your playing a single player RPG and you keep right clicking to rotate camera when you don’t have to… and fire off mana induced skill instead.
Your creating weapons in another game and wonder why your not getting XP fro crafting it.
Yeah I noticed yesterday, just about every piece of gear or weapon had an asking price of under the NPC sale. One item was worth 85 copper and it was sought for 2 copper. by 2 people with 100 orders total.
I wish the TP was set more like an auction house. Place your items or stacks, set a price, let it be filtered down to stats, type, cost, etc and be able to shop. Let the sellers price the item individually and set a time frame to keep it at auction. If you have an item that you want to sell higher than NPC, it could never sell for fair coin if there is an abundance of it. After fees, you gain nothing based on NPC sale.
I’ll buy a couple rare mats and it says 140 available at 65c, I’ll buy 3, then realize I need 1 more and immediately buy another and the price is 88c. Seems something is not quite right with the way it’s set up.
@Chavo
I run a X58 i7, i7 950. With the DDR3 triple channel config and more bandwidth per lane I never need to OC. I barely use 50 CPU power playing this game with the XMP profile auto set to overclock to 3.2ghz
I do see this too and in my opinion looks like most people are running for their lives. Like another poster said, If I accidentally kite some mobs because I got in over my head, I stay to fight them if someone else accidentally took my aggro.
I remember the days when people would kite mobs into entrances of towns and watch them tear apart unsuspecting players who are afk.
If your kiting mobs on purpose, have some ethics for the game and others and stop it.
I like the idea as well. I did the same thing as I like to keep bindings within stretch reach. I want to practice using the shift key more but I’m such a mouse user, I can’t stop just rotating camera and just clicking since I use dodge and will change targets to get them bleeding when I’m mobbed.
Nice suggestions though.
I’m assuming you craft armor and weapons?
The NPC/s can come in handy if your between crafting lvls or don’t have enough mats to make the next lvl. You can get some “hold you over” gear. Plus some people are not crafting, so where are they to get gear? As you craft, your gear will be better than the white you buy at vendors, so yes it there would not be any reason to buy it. Same with Karma vendors. I have run across some items better than what I have based on GW saying this green lvl 28 is better than your crafted lvl 25 blue, but in reality, my 2 stat with 1 stat gem added may be worth less, but has better stats.
I don;t know of any easy way. To me, the game seems to level too easy. If your crafting and farming for mats, the leveling will take you along the way. At the start of the game I was farming the 1-15 area so I can craft to use my gear and must have leveled 4 times getting double digit XP from each mob because you can’t get enough fine crafting mats to do what you want to do. I also tried to stay within my story line level with my character level and due to the mob killing and dynamic events I accidentally became a part of, could stop the leveling as fast as I wanted.
I salvage anything that is relative to my characters usage so I can get the same mats. I don’t salvage too much medium armor as a heavy wearing warrior, because I don’t need the leather. Occasionally I will to sell the leather in the TP.
Since I’m past using copper ore for crafting, any weapons that are under my current craft level of 98 I sell if they are decent copper. So lvl 20 and under weapons will give me ore, lvl 21+ will give me the iron. I also salvage staffs and bows lvl 21+ for the soft wood for crafting at my lvl. Again, If the copper value is decent, I’ll sell it. Need money for the TP for the fine materials I never can get enough of.
I get stuck on the same page after I’ve posted, where the “go back a page” in Firefox 14 and 15.01 just seems to refresh the same page. Same result using a thumb button on my Razer mouse that is auto mapped for going back in the drivers. Other site/forums don;t have the same behavior.
Haven’t tried using IE9 as I never use it.
Just a shot in the dark… did you try right clicking the GW2 icon and run as Admin? See if the key presses register and bind. I had a similar issue with Skyrim, and only Skyrim, using the Razer Diamondback 3g, the key mapping would not save after every exit unless I start the game as Admin.
Perhaps I’m missing something but I find it useless to keep getting such an enormous amount of lvl 25 crafting mats in Snowden or later zones. I couldn’t find glittering dust vials of small blood, claws, shards, to save my life when I needed them in the early areas. In Snowden, the majority of the tiny bags and drops are lvl 25 mats that are useless to me now. Besides the fact the rate of chocolate and butter mixed in the bags makes the ratio even worse. There’s also no advantage to even sell some of them when there is such an abundance in the TP. Additionally the drop rate seems to decrease the more you kill a certain mob or stay in the zone to farm so that cuts into the rate as well.
Is it possible to scale the mat drops by the zone assuming you would farm 1-15 for up to lvl 15 gear and 15-25 for crafting gear 15-25? At least you can use what your actually looking for make current level gear.
Just a thought.
Agree with OP. Farming for bags to get chocolate and butter at enormous rates needs to be tweaked.
6 gigs of RAM is sufficient to run this game as well as any other. Your bottleneck is probably the CPU. This game is more CPU dependent than GPU. Unless your running a Virtual Machne or RAM caching, you should be fine using 6 gigs. You should look at your background startups and see how much RAM the PC is using on applications and Windows. If your using 50% of the RAM just for that, then yes you will be running into issues playing the game. i3’s struggle when you get to games like Skyrim.
I’m not sure if uninstalling Framework 4 will do anything. Multiple installations of Framework will allow anything coded in that particular version to work correctly on the PC. I have all Framework up to 4 including all security updates and have no issues. Perhaps a corruption occurred,( texture files ? ) when the game shut down improperly due to the update forcing an install. Maybe the driver was corrupted. You should change the settings in Update to check for updates and let me choose whether to download and install. This way you will get the updates available when you boot and can decide when and which ones you want manually.
Small UI setting gives fonts with missing stroke and item icons not fully rendered.
If you change the UI to anything but “small” the TP is fully readable and rendered correctly. On “small” part of the text for everything is missing and the item icons aren’t clear.
If you enjoy a certain experience in the game then go with it. I get a little push from friends when I’m telling them I’m going to craft my main all the way. They feel I should create an alt and craft with that one, send mats back and forth, etc. I’ve done that before in other games, had 4-5 mules and I opted to not do that in this game. I’d still have to level the alt and farm a bit to get mats and then the experience of actually playing the character is lost. Right now I’m lvl 98 in both armor and weapon with a character lvl of 32. Yes I’m leveling fast just farming for mats, but the game offers no other choice. You can’t find enough mats to make gear for the current level unless you want to go broke buying off the TP. The fact that the game down levels doesn’t make me worry about it. I’m still farming the 15-25 zone so I can make gear 25+ and I’m collecting lvl 100 mats as well. ( the only thing I wish is the tiny bags and drops in higher zones didn’t keep dropping more lvl 25 stuff).
So if you enjoy what your doing, forget what others think.

Actually a larger fan has lower rpm’s, less noise and more cfm. I have a 120mm fan zip tied right behind the HDD cage helping air come in from the front fan over the GPU pcb board, over the NF200 and a little fed to the CPU cooler and it’s does wonders to push more air over the board and out the back.
Well these are helpful tips for those who just want to play and don’t delve into the intricacies of owning a PC. It’s obvious heat and airflow is an issue and other technical aspects but I kind of laughed at the “Remove all unecessary software, browser plugins, desktop enhancements etc. None of them will help GW2 run faster and are likely to slow it down” and the use of Msconfig and " do not overclock your video card". Msconfig isn’t something everyone should be messing with and if a program has a function to disable at start up then that should be used first before un-checking start up items. Removing plugins and such from your browser won’t typically do anything for the game, except if the TP menu is badly corrupted due to the browser based functionality. You can run Firefox with a bazzilion addons and not affect the game as well as other software. You don’t get speed increase, you get memory freed up to run the game better, so it feels faster when in fact it’s running “normal”. As far as the ovverclock of the card, if your running a high end PC, chances are you will overclock the GPU a little as long as you overclock in mild increments. Alienware are not the only people to “hint” that they are the only one who can overclock a PC correctly.
Now my PC is tweaked to only have AVG, Razer mouse drivers and sound drivers loaded at start up, but truthfully this game is not as demanding as Skyrim, or even Oblivion for that matter. My GPU never gets above 62 celsius at 60% fan speed and the CPU gets to 45c.
You could also let people know to disable services that aren’t needed if they are memory starved(services.msc). Frankly Nvidia is always set to Disabled after initial setup and profile adjustments to games.
Just thought I would ask if anyone has experienced an issue with moving the Start Menu game folder ( GW2 Support Wed Site, GW2 Web Site, GW2 shortcut) in Windows 7 x64 ?
I have a personal folder in the Start Menu for all my game folders so I don’t have umpteen folders scattered everywhere and I would like to move GW2 folder to it but don’t know if it will have an issue if an update can’t recognize the original file location.
Thanks in advance.
…another game. LOL
If there were no add on support than that is ok with me, however I could think of a couple that would be useful. For one, the auction house filtering is severely limited. I would like to extend my search to number of stats, what kind, how many, etc and a stat rating add on to compare gear so you can quickly see dps, and changes to hero stats based on item stats + upgrades. I don’t mind doing the figuring but sometimes it’s cool to just look at it. Guess I’m spoiled with the StatRating add on for
The jute is not a problem nor getting bags from miners or Svenir, it’s the other mats I mentioned. Ascalon is a good suggestion. I’ll try that. I’m trying to stay within the low levels areas to not out level my crafting by gaining too much XP.
If anyone has some help on what mobs drop some materials it would be appreciated.
I’ve spent the last 3 game plays farming in newbie area and 1-15 zone for jute from bags or salvaging light armor off Svanir but cannot for the life of me get glittering dust, vial of blood, poison sacs or bone chips. I had to buy some dust off the TP and some blood, but at the rate 48 copper for blood I can only afford so much to craft. Mighty inscriptions take 8 vials not counting other crafted items it needs.
Reptiles are dropping fur, barracudas and skaloks are dropping nothing but trophies or gear, spiders drop 1 sac about every 20 minutes. I’ve actually leveled 21-24 between starter, at 7xp per, and 1-15 zone that by the time I craft the 20 gear, I’m already at 25. I’m at lvl 60+ in both armor and weapon but would like to be able to use my gear before I out level it. I only have 1 destroyer silver and one other kind of craft-able metal that I know can be used for a discovery but I don;t have enough.
I also sell drops for the coin to buy from the TP, and better salvage kits but I’m not getting any rare mats nor gaining ground fast enough.
