Been leveling an alt this week so haven’t been in WvW at all on my main. So I hop in today wow Kain and Bp are just terrible. It is so sad I can only assume I fought only pve baddies today since every thief I destroyed was running multiple legendary weapons along with 0 skill. Guess I will go back to leveling my alt and wait for real fights with skilled players after this matchup of zergball baddies is over.
Nope. This week has been straight up terrible. Theres been only two guilds that have shown any promise and thats rx and vp. The rest are just embarassingly bad, they make up for it by running in as large a group as possible at all times. Wvw has been either swams of keyboard turners or dead. Cant wait for bp to move up to a higher tier where they belong
Been sort of looking back and forth.
And…truthfully there isn’t an endgame for dedicated WvWers.
The Ranks are…simply there to append capabilities to the various mechanics and mechanisms of WvW, but they don’t really make players feel like they are growing as a character, in the same manner that PvE has with its various flavors of entertainment.
But at the same time I don’t think those really wanting to fight in WvW really need those stats to prove their dominance. No, instead, why not bring that horizontial progression that GW2 has been promoting to WvW, and I mean for real!
- WvW Unique Skins obtained through dedicated playing, whether it be rank restricted (50, 100, 150, 200, and so forth) or achievement based (Different levels of Dominator, Escort, etc).
- Make the WvW Titles (Those insane, terribly long to get ones?) have some sort of special meaning, perhaps a permanent buff.
- Unique Commander Icons. 100g? Pfft, Try killing 100 unique commanders based on their tags to get this bad-kitten silver commander icon… (Probably a low number but you get my drift).
- Incredibly difficult but noteworthy path to getting your legendaries only through WvW! (So unlikely, but one could hope)Be creative here folks!

I mean, we don’t like having to kill people that we out number, but how else an I supposed to feel better about myself? AND there were only 5of us.. But your right, if there were 20 of us we would have still chased :} BUT to be fair, if we stopped killing every player that was solo or AFK then we wouldn’t have anyone on NSP to kill

Are there any small mans out there on BP or Kain? All I’ve come across so far is groups of 10+ that will relentlessly chase 3 players across the entire map.
Kain does, very select few , bp does not. The whole literally chasing forever thing is entertaining tho.
Splt just transferred to BP, we is tired of farming their glass zergs 4 free badges.
The numbers could use tweaking but this is actually a really good idea.

So fairweather zerg guilds can transfer en masse to low tiers and roll through smaller populations on a whim, destabilizing 3 servers at once just to do it again once they artificially inflate the server rating? How about no. Many people are on lower teirs because they prefer to be thanks. Keep the more highly skilled players at the top fighting for #1 by stacking and pressing it as fast as they can.

With all this talk about zergs I thought I’d share some footage of between 5-7 SPLT taking on some IoJ.
Gotta be honest with you, I take on a lot of “small team” groups, and usually die, sometimes I win if I catch them off guard, but you guys… you guys I avoid and back cap. I generally solo run, and mostly to retake camps, and check towers and keeps, but sometimes I will start tossing grenades at you anyway.
I don’t think I have ever successfully stomped any of you, despite my best efforts.

if you see us, invite yourself to our group one day and say hi, we often leave notable soloers alone since theres no point in bowling them over with a group.
SPCA is serious competition, tM has 3-4 real solid guys, the rest of those guilds are pro running away builds, doesn’t make you good at winning fights, just running.
I made a thread in discussion trying to gather all the known nam that consistently run 5-6 and no more. And that win.

Im guessing this is an spvp change? Berserker stance is crap everywhere else so doubling is length means nothing.
Blind in this game shouldnt be a condition. It makes no sense that we can be standing there swinging a Giant sword 2 ft from someone and not hit them, or somehow stomping the ground and missing…. Instead blind should be a boon, like Aegis, which absorbs the next attack then disappears.
looks like a pretty solid group support build, thanks for sharing. =) How do you fare in groups of 5 or less? or does RG only run 25+?
invisibility in this game needs a counter. add flares to rangers and flare turrets to engi’s, plz thx bai!
I think of it as college divisions. We might be doing ok in our division but would have no business going up against a Division I team because we are just a small New England liberal arts college with only about 3,000 students. Or something like that.
as long as you’re admitting that BP is a liberal arts college full of future starving artists and SBI students are actually studying something useful at tech university.
I guess that makes NSP some random high school team thats making us all look bad by not losing hard enough.
Don’t forget that using that analogy, BP and NSP are both are more attractive and getting laid more than SBI.

Stealth disruptors don’t give revealed if there aren’t any stealthed players in the trap radius when it is triggered. So if a thief is visible and triggers the trap while visible, it will have absolutely no effect, kind of like a player with no supply running over a supply trap. I’ve fought plenty of thieves who run over the trap and then stealth 2 seconds after because the trap doesn’t do anything to visible players. An interesting thing though is that if a visible thief triggers the trap while a stealthed thief is nearby within the trap radius, it will apply revealed to both the stealthed thief and the visible thief. So if you’re trying to bait a thief into the trap, make sure to get them to use stealth first. Source of the information comes from me trolling thieves all day everyday with stealth traps.

seems the way they work is clumsy at best.
definitely not an issue of blind in my case,
and even if it was, is the only defense against stealth supposed to be completely broken by an ability that thieves can spam?
Title days it all… stealth disruptor traps don’t seem to be working at all since being re enabled.. bug or feature?
Anyone else seeing this? I’ve tested it twice now. Tornado goes off, once the Theif didn’t even unstealth. The other he did but only for 3 seconds… not 30.
Not many very consistent roamers. Did have a few fun fights though.
SPCA, SPLT and XOXO still often come out to play.
Citadel[CTDL] ran into 2 SPCA the other day, one was probably the ugliest charr mesmer I have ever seen and the other some guardian who could probably lose a few pounds and still have a cholesterol problem.
Good fights though, those guys were hard to put down.

You are stating a specific rune set and a specific set of food that is available to EVERY CLASS, and citing it as one of our survivability mechanics. That is hilarious.

your arguement is absurd, if anyone is pigeonholed here its guardians, they have one or two builds and all the others are gimmicks or solo specs at best. warriors have multple effective melee builds and multiple effective range builds.

The only thing we need to be honest is better condition removal. Aside from that, I don’t really have a problem. Oh and we do have some of the highest mobility in game so guy who said we don’t you’re dead wrong. Thief is first, they can run circles around everyone, then warrior, then ranger, and after that everyone is about equal. Ele used to be after ranger, but got nerfed in the ground and can barely outrun guardians now. If the guardian has a 1 handed sword and that teleport skill, forget it then it’s guardian> ele. Anyway, on topic, we just need much better condition removal. I tried that new trait, fought a necro, and kitten is it useless. It would have worked a lot better if it removed conditions AS you gained adrenaline. What were they thinking seriously? Sure i’ll land one of my obvious telegraphed burst skills and wipe all my conditions out. Not! Remove a condition for each bar of adrenaline you gain. One simple change and that trait will be amazing. And we can spec to be super tanky if we want. You just won’t do as much damage as if you went glass cannon. Which is how it should be. You want to have insane survivability and 1 shot everything too? Might as well roll a thief. I’d rather be balanced rather than see thieves cry more than they do already about every single other class and end up seeing tons of “Nerf Warrior” threads pop up on the thief forum. You want to see us get shafted like rangers were?
Aside from the Greatsword, what are you talking about? My Ranger is way more mobile than my Warrior, for sure.

I just do not understand why people think melandru’s rune and lemongrass food buff is exclusive only to warriors. Also dogged march ability isn’t exclusive to warriors only, engineers and eles have it too.
why should universal food buffs be exclusive to warriors? i dont understand why people dont use the tools that they are given, warriors do have some minor grievancess they can complain about, but survivability is no longer one of them.

IoJ is clearly a better server then NSP. We always win in open field even with half the numbers NSP throws at us coupled in with all the hackers on your server. Anyways its become clear as day NSP will try whatever they can to double team IoJ with DH even more so then they have been already just so that they can keep the lead. But we all know Darkhaven will get 1st like they would have been and IoJ being a better server then NSP will get 2nd while the NSP (that happened to be in first so far thanks to IoJ) will end up in 3rd.

your group hammer/greatsword shout build is interesting. whats the advantage of running the greatsword over sword/warhorn. I know GS is a nice mobility weapon and very usefull for bombing a downed target to prevent res zerging, but sword/warhorn provides similar movement abilites, while at the same time switching out tactics VII for tactics IV would bring significant anti cc and condition clears to your entire group as well as a very usefull blast finisher. Very curious to hear your rationale here.
also why not slot out endure pain for fear me? taking advange of the extra shout?
typically whats your group makeup? I assume double guardian since you have zero stability in this melee only build. but what else are you running for dps?
1) GS vs Sword/Horn:
- GS:
a: Superior single target and cleave damage.
b: Superior Mobility(if and only if you are receiving chill/cripple/immobilize removal else where)
c: Superior usage of mobile strikes. Ex. Shatter mesmer immobilizes you, hinting at a incoming shatter, Whirlwind out to break immobilize/evade shatter.-Sword:
a: Superior CC capabilities via immobilizes.
b: Superior condi cleans.
c: Access to additional boons.So as you can see, if you have a support guardian or ele with you, GS is the more viable option. Where as if you are relying on yourself in large zerg fights Sword/Horn is possibly a better option.
Endure Pain vs Fear Me:
- My logic on this is as follows. Fear Me hits a maximum of 5 people(immune if they have stability) and heals for a minimal amount. Meanwhile Endure Pain can completely stop an enemies attempt at bursting you regardless of their boons or if you are CC’d.My 5 man make-up in a nut shell:
- Support Guardian
- Balanced DPS Guardian
- Epidemic Necro
- Shatter Mesmer
- Balanced DPS Warrior
Thanks, what justifies the warriors position in this group over say, another shatter/condition mesmer which makes the necro stronger, or an hgh or bomb toolkit eng again which synergizes better with the necro and brings better cc or healing depending on spec. Or even a ranger which is more self reliant and via water field brings much more healing than warrior shouts as well as roots, one of the best cc’s in the game.
The warrior here seems to be the weak link no?

3 knights/zerker shortbow/GS rangers
1 dps/support guardian
1 support eng or shortbow thief.
everything you do is in a water field so between that and melandru/lemongrass conditions mean nothing, and rangers have the easiest time with target switching and cant be kited… plus.. lolroots.
you could also run double guardians if you need extra stability, generally you dont, the thief is incredibly valuable for stealth stomping and blasting.
If you’re limited to 3, then thieves get more and more valuable. maybe 2 thieves and a tank, be it support guardian, support eng, bunker ele, etc, The tank is just there to distract people and not die while the thieves focus down targets one at a time.

Some fun in EB with Splt. Lots of good fights. Abyss you and PD were so many in the BL’s. I swear there was a huge glowing ring on my back, I guess it is what prison feels like.

You need to drop the idea of survivability, your build will just make you last at most 1 or 2 seconds longer, toughness really doesn’t help and removing an extra condition every once in a while won’t help either.
Go full berserkers, get 10 in vitality and get the berserker banner. Get the power crystal/go full berserkers and go all sniper-mode.
You will be a lot more successful in WvWvW/PvE.
^^^ this, 100% your only defense as glass cannon is to not be hit, another 100 or so toughness vitality isnt gonna do you a lick of good. In your weapon swap slots you have the option of sword/warhorn, to clear snares and jump away, sword/shield to block incoming damage and leap away, or greatsword to bomb killzones and #5 away.
trolling around in tank gear with a rifle is pointless, you add very little pressure to a fight and youd be much better off just farming badges with longbow since its better for aoe tagging.
warriors are fairly competitive 1v1 if you know what you are facing.. fighting a thief? well u can be bunker hammer, shield/axe with retaliation, or you can be glass rifle, shield/axe.. you can choose control, or you can choose glass with immunes and burst, facing a d/d ele, well u need sword/warhorn and greatsword and condition removals, to keep up with his mobility and remove his annoying conditions, fighting a mesmer? now conditions are king, you can spec and gear for higher cond damage/duration and use longbow and sword/X to wear him down slowly dispite his constant blinking and invis, this goes on and on for every other class, a warrior CAN spec to be effective against all of them.
the issue here is that while yes warriors can be effective 1v1, they cant be multiple specs simultaniously and they need to be in order to compete. compare that to a thief. a vast majority of thieves are either d/d or d/p main hand and shortbow offhand.. very little flexibility in their weapon sets, and very little true variance in their playstyles, (get stealthed-backstab, repeat) same goes for elementalist. a d/d has all the tools they need to compete just with those two weapons.. dps/mobility in fire and air,, heals/support in water. control in earth. A warrior meanwhile has control weapons, (mace/shield/hammer,) mobility weapons, (GS/sword/warhorn,) range weapons, (Rifle,longbow) and condition weapons, sword/longbow. and the warrior NEEDs varying combinations of those weapon sets in order to be effective against other classes who simply put, dont have or need all that bloat.
The problem with Condition Warriors is threefold
1: they only really put up heavy bleeds, no junk conds to protect its removal which means it can be entirely negated by almost all classes with basic condtion removals and classes like guardians rangers and eles are even more unkillable.
2: your conditon weapons (sword, longbow) scale better with power than with cond. So you’ll do more damage in a set of full Knights gear or knights cavalier mix than you will with full rabid or rabid/carrion. And you’ll also do more damage in pure zerker gear than you will in rampagers.
3: an essential component of any cond spec for any class is perma poison. Warriors don’t have it other than sigil of doom. Which is really a poor source for it but there’s no other choice. No poison.. no pressure
The one Good thing is that wars probly have the easiest time of any class getting to the bleed duration cap thanks to arms III +50% to bleed dur and that makes for some super long base bleeds iirc 16s on the 1st sword chain. Almost 30 s on longbow 5
(Tldr) Its a fun duelist spec against other Warriors. Bunker mesmers and non Perma stealth (aka poorly specced) thieves. I enjoy playing it for a laugh sometimes while solo. It really does take people by suprise the first time. But after that any opponent worth fighting can easily slot to counter
Err this turned into a rant. :p I Actually like conditions. I just find them frustrating compared to other specs due to no bleed removal protection. get a sigil of doom it helps tremendously.

Traps are a step in the right direction i suppose, but implementing them like this as an expensive item that gets drawn from your backpack and channeled is silly.
Rangers should have been given a flare trap and engineers a flare turret that did what these things do since launch.
If you’re all Hardcore and want to prove it then t8 might be better for you. But if your more casual and like to roam against varying levels of competition while not being forced into a dedicated class/spec balance group hthen t7 is great

If you’re running a condition build and you don’t have corrupt boon you’re doing something very wrong
… this. Also rabid conditionmancers were great for a couple months. But in the current game all condition builds are completely broken in wvw dues to the popularity of melandru runes + lemongrass food. Any opponents worth fighting will be taking at least 40% less damage from you and as much as 90%+ resistant to your cc.
Gotta love those guilds that will chase 10 people around a map with 40+

u guys had too many condition clears for me to play my necro, so I switced to that warrior, =P if that was your first time out you did really well, I still die horribly when I try to play guardian.
I missed most of the action tonight, but the little bit I caught was awesome,
