Are power builds still useful in zerg fights ? I have been playing as a backline wells necro for ~2 months now and was wondering if there are other classes that are generally welcome in blob fights. I got a revenant to 80 a day ago but have yet to get good at it.

For those who WvW or lead a lot, what power classes do you prefer to have at the backline ? A necro or a rev ? I played a staff elementalist for a while but I didn’t like it.

EDIT: Would a condi backline necro be more useful than a power wells necro ? If yes, then what skills should I go for ?

I see a lot of Trailblazer users but does the extra condition duration pay off given the amount of cleanses in large scale fights ? + Dire is a lot cheaper..

I am only interested in large scale zerg vs zerg

I agree with valkyrie reaper. I use a mix of berserker and valkyrie and have 26k hp and 20k shroud hp. Im not a good player but have found battling through HoT maps extremely easy with a reaper. The traits can easily push up your crit to 100% and with shroud’s inherent 50% direct damage reduction, you can auto attack groups of enemies to death.

I have the yggdrasil collection unlocked. Do I need to be on my ranger when trying to obtain the friendly mushroom spirit or can I get it while im on another character?

Thanks sororita and murock ! Having tons of hp for lifeforce looks great. Will I be losing a lot of dps if I drop dhuumfire ? I think it does around 1.1k per tick.

@murdock I changed some utility skills and the reaper trait and was wondering what you think of it. I have been using “Your Soul is Mine” because I wanted even faster life force generation for when I get forced out of it plus I don’t think the blood fiend heals me when I am in shroud. I also took “Rise” because I just feel like the damage reduction helps keep me in shroud even longer.

Hey all, I have been enjoying reaper very much over the past few weeks with Berserkers gear.

I love staying in shroud so I was wondering if I would be doing more DPS if I swap out my Berserkers for Vipers ? The burn with the auto attack looks nice.

I only do open world and fractals. I know there are better ways to play a reaper but I like being in shroud plus I don’t think anyone minds for the lower leveled fractals.

I’m intending to go for sunrise and was wondering if it is cheaper to buy Dawn off TP (620g) or to craft it. I do not have any profession leveled to 500 and so I must take that cost into account as well.

Seems useful with blighter’s boon or the traits that augment chill and its only 2 silver on the TP. Not too expensive.

Hey all, currently the only way I know to gain health while in shroud would be blighter’s boon. Are there any other ways to do so? Will the heal on crit food or the lifesteal sigil heal me ?

Hi, I just got my elementalist to 80 and I’m not using the optimal gear for a condition elementalist so I was wondering if any experienced users here can comment on whether I am in a bad position. I only stay in fire attunement and I use a dagger + warhorn / focus.

Armor: Carrion with Balthazar runes
Weapon: Carrion (not sure what runes to use)

Trinkets: All Celestial except backpiece
Traits: Fire / Earth / Tempest

Reasons:
1) I can obtain carrion from WvW merchants
2) I had the trinkets before I quit several years ago with the agony infusions so I’m not looking forward to gearing up all over again.
3) Earth because I wanted the trait that gives me 40% protection for 3 seconds when under an aura. Seems nice when I can have auras from Overload + skill no. 4 of focus + Feel the burn + traits.

So I know vipers are the best gear for a condi elementalist but will I be lagging behind by a lot ? I love doing dungeons and fractals but have yet to try a raid. I am not a hardcore / min-maxer but will probably only do raids when I have the proper viper setup so I don’t slow down the team.

1. I used a level 80 boost on my character and after filling up the experience bar I kept receiving this notification on the bottom left of my screen saying “Your current ability is fully trained and ready to master!” I’m not sure what I am supposed to do because I have all the skills maxed except Tempest which I have yet to even attain the first ability.

2. Do I need to complete the storyline in Tyria before I can begin the Heart of Thorns storyline?

Will i lose the item in my shared inventory when I delete all my characters ? I bought the heart of thorns expansion but was planning to delete my character and move to another server. I am not sure if I will lose the level 80 boost

and the fact that Maguuma is not paired up with any other server would seem that they have high WvW participation rates. I think I will create my character here since it is not certain if anyone will eventually leave either JQ or BG.

How frequent are server transfer these days since it is no longer free?

I came back to GW2 after quitting ~4 years ago, starting out in the Sea of Sorrows and after several transfers, ended up in the Sanctum of Rall before quitting.

Since I enjoy WvW – especially the massive clashes – I was hoping the regulars here could tell me which server is doing well in WvW. I don’t think I’ll be able to join Blackgate or Jade Quarry since they are at full capacity and I’m not sure if I should wait it out for a couple more days or just join a potential T1 contender.

I don’t need to be in the winning server. I just wanna take part in epic clashes, which would mean that the server should not be heavily outnumbered against Blackgate or Jade Quarry

Looking at http://mos.millenium.org/servers/history/29 , I still can’t tell which server would be able to hold its own against BG / JQ due to linked worlds. Are the groupings permanent ? If not then I think I’d like to look for a server that is not paired up with another so that the WvW players and guilds would be ‘more coordinated’ for lack of a better word.

I have been trying it out and it has been really fun though i was wondering if its okay to use LB/GS for your build.

My trait will now be 0/20/0/30/20. I will be dumping adrenaline on Combustive shot. I like bow over other weapons as #2 #3 and #5 hits hard. Also , should i keep shake it off or swap to something else ?

Wow , my main is a warrior , even for PvP and it always makes me feel better when i see someone who is good as i can learn from the person. Traits , Gear , Strategy , etc , coz i seriously do suck at PvP and reading lots of “warriors suck in PvP” threads does not help.

I swap banner regeneration to healing shouts if there is someone in the party that can provide constant regeneration.

Ever since the buffs to banners were made , ive been wondering if I should

1) swap the runes on my armor to soldiers ( lower damage output but more survivability due to the 6piece bonus )
2) transmute my GS from berserker to knight for the 178 toughness

Secondly , i feel that the banner regeneration / shout heal is pretty weak. I was wondering if its better to put the points either into Defense and/or Discipline along with the changes i have stated above. I really like the boon duration bonus and empowered boon though.

Pretty lost as to what i should do , hope the forum can assist me on this

Both will give around 10% damage (+10% damage on bleed vs +10% crit damage ) + other bonuses but of coz i will lose the 100 power.

Wow TSYM transferring to SoR ? I thought they’d go over to BG considering thats where all the big SoS guilds went. I wonder how much stronger SoR will be then. T1 drama gets more exciting lol.

Currently at 2.8k toughness + ~200 hp/s + 70 vit ( Banner regen + mango pie )

Is it better to swap to prec/crit food ? Then change some of my armor from berserkers to knights ? Final stats will be 2.9k toughness + ~130hp/s + 100 precision

How much toughness would be ‘equivalent’ to 85 hp/s from mango pie ? Thanks in advance for the answer.

Wow even after all the transfers into BG , JQ is still winning. It must have alot of dedicated WvWers , or just too much players lol.

Ive experienced this too. I think only the party members should be able to pick up the banner

Yes i am using GS/Rifle and i PvE 99% of the time. The only condition removal i have is Shake it Off and Mending. Using divinity runes instead of soldiers lol. Im leaning more towards cavalier now. I have 3 knight’s armor pieces and still dying too fast from AoE encounters + HB. Swapping it all to berserker’s might make me a liability in the team.

I think im gonna change my build too add in some passive regen ( mango pie + inspiring battle standard + Adrenal Health + healing signet ). Guess ill tweak my build and see what im comfortable with before spending 30 laurels , no more pure life stealing berserker for me. Losing half my hp during HB isnt fun.

With the recent food nerf. I find my survivability quite bad. Im forced to use rifle whenever there are aoe encounters. I have 3 knight pieces and the rest are zerker pieces.
How are you building your warriors ?

Full zerker might mean that you do not get aggro but AoE attack still hurts
Going knight/zerker would increase survivability but is it enough ?

Wow , was deciding whether to go Cavailer or Berserker’s ascended amulet. After finding out that toughness plays a part in gaining aggro , decided to go berserker’s.

I am using GS/Rifle. With the recent nerf on the heal-on-crit foods , im unsure if i should increase my survivability (+126 toughness) , or just get the berserker amulet if the mitigation from an additional 126 toughness is meagre.

I noticed that the crit chance in my character window did not update after the said buffs were applied. I did look through the forums , including the Warrior Bugs Thread and due to mixed replies , im still not sure whether

1) the buffs work but they are just not updated in the character window
2) they dont work at all

Can anyone clarify on this ? Hope i dont get mixed replies here as well

- i should put rune of the soldier for more toughness / vit

Also , for my Weapon whether to
- put a sigil of bloodlust / force / fire

Thanks for the replies. Ive decided to go rampager due to my trap based build. I was wondering what hp value should a decent ranger have. What if i concentrate more on PvE ? Should i still concern myself on getting several gears with vit ? Or can i carry on being a glass cannon ?
