I have 18 so far, I love creating characters, I usually find a look that I like and then I try imagining a backstory for the character and how it would fit with the rest of my toons (just for myself since I don’t RP). At first I had one for each class but I started making a few doubles along the way, though with the announcement of elite specialisations I felt justified in doing so and said “why not, might as well make one for each elite spec”. They are all level 80 except for my second Revenant and my main is my Chronomancer.
This is definitely my favorite part of the game and I’m looking forward to the day when (if?) they’ll add new races (Tengu please?).
Thank you very much!
1. New races
2. More options for build diversity (so more weapons and more skills)
3. New classes
4. I would love housing, or at least something akin to the Hall of Monuments
Raenzjar (and others too) if you play on EU servers and haven’t done it yet, I’d be happy to take you through the parts you have a hard time dealing with with my mesmer, I probably can manage the hardest parts such as jumping puzzle too. Just add me in game and pm me if you need.
Geez, I wish more modern games were like this. I love GW2, don’t get me wrong, but the game industry in general needs to stop holding our hands. I’m guessing you’re early twenties, at most. I won’t say we’re a majority, but gamers of my generation (My God, there are people of drinking age too young to remember A Link to the Past!) remember the reward associated with playing a section of a game over and over and over, until we finally honed our skills enough to pass. Those were the days when success could actually make you jump out of your seat and shout with joy. Hate to sound like a geezer, but this “mistakes should be rewarded” mindset is exactly why so many older people complain about younger people. If you’re looking for a story to watch while you press buttons, try Dear Esther. Or maybe pausing a DVD over and over. Come back when you can handle a mild challenge.
[/grumpy old codger rant]
I don’t think it has as much to do with age as you think, I’m 20 and I enjoy a challenge, one of my favorite type of game are Rogue likes and I enjoy the heck out of the Souls series for exemple and I know plenty of people my age who feel the same.
Now, more on the subject I really don’t see what this is all about, there is one jumping puzzle on the new map (well two if you count the one in the story which is the same puzzle but donne differently) which I thought was one of the easiest JP in game so far and hey if you find it too difficult then just don’t do it (IT IS optionnal) but then it’s normal not to be rewarded for it.
As for the rest of the jumping, it mostly requires a crystal and to press 1 and forward… is it really that difficult?
Tengu, Largos and not likely but I would love Krait/Naga/Forgotten.
Not mine, but this blog pretty much show how every place in Tyria changed between GW and GW2, it feels very nostalgic seeing it side by side.

Vizunah and Augury Rock.
I don’t want bigger numbers, be it levels or gear.
I’ll come for a swim too!
Why is no one talking about Everquest Next when it’s the one MMO with the most GW2-like ambitions? With horizontal progression and pretty much everything else promised in the manifesto and free to play too, to me it looks the more promising and I know I’ll be sure to try it (and Landmarks too).
I leveled 8 characters to 80 (working on a 9th) and started leveling them only via crafting after the third because it got boring (to me) after the first time, I might try to level my ninth character in WvW like some here suggested, it sounds fun. But with that said, I can see the other side of the spectrum and people actually liking it and finding lots of different ways to level up.
For me the problem is the level cap (80) is too high, it might have to do with the fact that I came from GW1 and that I don’t like MMOs in general but I think they should have capped it at 30 (or 50 at most), by this point you unlocked all your abilities, and your elite and so after that there’s no real feeling of progression anymore and leveling just seems pointless. I would have prefered that like in GW1 you hit your level cap quick (well, I know you level up fast in GW2 too but I’m not comparing it to other MMOs) and early so that most of the zones would be at max level cap.
English is not my first language so sorry if my point made no sense or if it wasn’t clear enough.
What gear is that on the first character? Dont think ive ever seen it before. o.o
That’s the Trickster skin from the gem shop.
Well here goes my nine characters : http://imgur.com/a/fQ6wC#0
Feedback is appreciated.
Naga could work, the only thing that goes against it (and it’s a pretty major counter point) is that it would be hard to animate them and they’re too different from the other races body-wise to make it work with the armors. I really want a serpantine/reptilian race though, after Tengu of course.
Interviews, podcasts, answers on forums/reddit, …
If they actually put a tinfoil hat in the game, I’d be sorely tempted to log in and try and get one
It probably would be in the gem store though.
I’m in the same situation as OP, or rather I was already in that situation since november 2012, from this point on the only things that kept me playing were leveling alts and checking out the living story, now I’m only loging-in once every two weeks to do the new achievements and in hope that there will be good lore but I’m more and more dissapointed in the direction this game is taking.
Well I love all my characters so I’ll just let you decide who’s best looking : http://imgur.com/a/fQ6wC#0
Bigger numbers in general make no sense.

Zero. I have 8 lv 80 characters and I’m working on my 9th and I still don’t have a single piece of ascended on any of them and never will even if ascended are free handed to me, I’m completely against it.
Overall game, but lastly I spent more time on the forums and only check the game when there’s a new patch. I just don’t like the direction the game is going.
They said pre-launch that they wanted to add levels at some point. I don’t think it’s a wise decision though and when this day comes I’ll probably stop playing for good.
You forgot the part where a lot of these PVE skills were useless and those that were not were only really useful/nescessary if you did speed runs. Also you would aquire most of them and a descent rank in your titles by just playing the campaign, so yeah, way to make a stupid argument.
Hyperion, Tequatl isn’t an elder dragon and you forgot Primordus.
-Will you recommend Guild Wars 2 to a friend during the “Migration” period?
No
-Why or why not?
Because I already did and none of them are playing anymore, even I am barely playing, I just log-in once every two weeks to check out the new content and get my achievement points.
-What do you like about the current Living Story content?
Not much, the only one I really liked was the Bazar of the four winds, I guess there was some cool things here and there too like the Molten Factory and Aetherblade Retreat dungeons or the Queen’s Gauntlet.
-What do you dislike?
It’s temporary and it’s not what I consider to be good and/or meaty content, every two weeks it’s basically a checklist of achievements with little backstory as to why we are even doing it and the tasks generally range from “kill mob A x times” to “collect item B x times” and most of the time you are done in 3 to 4 hours after release. Also it’s mainly based around zergs.
-In your opinion, do you like the direction of this game? What would you like to see?
No. I actually dislike it and am afraid of where the game is going.
I would like more areas, more horizontal progression (new skills, new weapons, new traits, …) and less vertical progression (yes, I am still kitten about Ascended), an actual progression in the main story, more playable races, more replayability, player housing, good guild management and content less centered around achievements and there’s probably a ton of things that I would like but can’t remember as of now. Also all of this would have to be permanent.
-Am I being fair in my observation?
Yeah.

That’s in game, in the Thaumanova Reactor fractal story mode, I just did it and can confirm what they said, I don’t have screens to prove it though.
How is it lazy?
Does it somehow take less effort and time to develop something for the gemstore than something for in-game?While I do see your point one have to keep in mind that making stuff costs money, and they need to get that money from somewhere. Thus putting certain skins in the gem-store to earn some money.
I totally agree with you, I like having skins in the gem store and I don’t mind paying 10€ to support the game if I like the skin. BUT (I’m not 100% sure, but almost) all the skins they added since release, except for a couple new weapons on bosses have been added via the gemstore and even then it wouldn’t be such an issue for me if they weren’t one use only.
True, we could instead get content every six months that was more or less the same but larger in scale.
Well then the issue is in the lack of trust in the development team to deliver good content.
What I want is a real expansion (paid or not) with new places to explore, new mechanics, a good and coherent story, additionnal lore that builds on the interesting lore of GW1, …
What I don’t want is a checklist of “kill this, collect that x times” every two weeks with a weak story not even told in game, yeah yeah the conclusion will come in due time and it’ll all make sense et caetera… The thing is, I’m not sure I’ll still play the game when this time comes.

And I am surprised that some people still seems to prefer getting content once every six months that can be completed in less than a month instead of content every two weeks.
Content every two weeks that is repetitive, basically a check list of achievements and can be completed in less than 3hours (if not counting the daily achievements for the meta).
Someone told me this earlier and I found it pretty funny, so here goes :
How to make a Living Story chapter :
- Put every villain faction in a hat.
- Pull two names out of the hat.
- They form an alliance!
Good and coherent lore.
I’m not a fan at all of alliances coming out of the blue, I’m still a bit bitter about the Molten alliance (I guess they would be fine if it weren’t for the whole Scarlett/Aetherblades/Everything that Anet can tie in together).
I really hope the ally is not Scarlett, I could kinda believe it for the Dredges/Flame legion (and even now I’m still not happy with it) but not the Kraits.
I agree, the lore is already hard enough to come around as it is without requiring to come on the website on top of that, no wonder why most of the player base has absolutely no idea/don’t care about what’s going on in game. Adding a tab in the hero pannel or adding it to the personnal story would be a BIG step forward, or heck even books in a library or something like said by OP.
I have 8 at the moment, one of each profession… I have a 9th slot and would like to make more but I would prefer to do it when we get new races/classes.
^^^^^^^^
kitten, I laughed way harder than I should have.
ArenaNet added GvG pvp looooong after Guild Wars 1 release
Lol what? It was here at release.
Also to add a bit on the conversation, I really doubt the game was named after an event in lore that happened prior to the main storyline and that is barely talked about in game. IIRC Guild Wars was still called Guild Wars when it was supposed to be a PvP only game (might be wrong on that one).

Because legendaries were upgraded to ascended level, and with weapons kits and conjured weapons (ie Lighhtning Hammer) not scaling to ascended damage but exotic, he is losing damage in the sense that yes it still does the same amount of damage as before but it shouldn’t, it should be scaling to the damage of his equiped weapon (so ascended damage). At least that’s what I understood.
To be honest, I think I wouldn’t play GW2 anymore if it wasn’t called Guild Wars and if I wasn’t into lore (not that we get much of it, but I love the world they created). I didn’t complain when they added ascended, I didn’t complain for “every little thing” but I often was disappointed in their decisions and still I continued to support them (I’ve spent a lot of money both in GW1 and 2) in hope that it will get better… I don’t know GW2 kinda feels like a love/hate relationship to me, there are a lot of things about it that I don’t like but still I keep coming back to it.
Not really on subject but, I was really disappointed by the mini set 2, not only did it came around at the same time as the birthday gift but it’s also full of minis that use the exact same model as minis from set 1 and even some of set 2, plus it may only be me but I never liked humanoid minis and there is a LOT of them in this set.
(edited by Hka.3942)
I always liked minis, I think it’s pretty cool to have mini monsters following me in my adventures. I’m not really a fan of humanoid ones though, especially in GW2 where we have human NPC 1, 2, 3, etc especially when some of them have the exact same model as others, I wish we could have some more diversity.
I don’t want to whine about something free but I won’t hide it, I’m disappointed. 5 of my characters got the presents so I have 5 experience scrolls that I won’t use since I already have 8 characters to level 80 (maybe when they add a new race/class but even then I’ll only use one since it’s for characters under level 20 and only that, I would have prefered if they gave a set amount of xp), 5 boosters that I won’t use either because I am already sitting on a ton of each type and finally 5 mini Jennah, an NPC I don’t really like or think looks cool(never liked humans as mini anyway)… and you can’t even throw Jennah in the mystic forge.
I’m feeling even more disappointed because they just released a new mini pack just days before this, even though mini pack 2 has a bunch of mini that share the exact same model with other minis too… And I don’t want to sound like a whiner, I love the game, I loved Guild Wars since 2005, it’s just that coming from Anet and knowing what birthday presents were in GW1, well I was expecting more (at least for the experience scrolls to give a set amount of xp and to be able to throw the surplus of Jennah into the mystic forge for a chance at something cooler).
Like some said, it would have been the only time RNG would have been appreciated, and with the experience scrolls, to me it doesn’t reflect the fact that you are rewarded for a year of playing a character (which I hope is above level 20 by now).
I don’t want to spoil your fun but you can’t forge mini Jennahs.
I can see Largos being added for when we’ll go against the DSD, they’re pretty cool and I can see a kind of Kurzick styled cities for them but under water obviously.
As for my choice, I want Tengus to come first like most other people, they are already a well established race in Tyria and they have rich lore, also everything points out to them being playable next : collector’s edition book, NPC dialogues, the fact that Asuras are making a portal in the Dominion and at the end of the personnal story the Tengu blacksmith of The Pact says that we have proven worthy and Tengu will now join us, maybe not as a whole but some of them might, …
This. I wanted to buy one and then I looked at Dulfy’s gallery and saw that they used the same model, the thing is though Ice imp and Storm imp foes also share the same model so I don’t understand why they would make a mini of one when we already have the other.
20 levels is a bad idea, in my opinion. A player with four one-year old characters could create a fifth and get him to the level cap in a matter of seconds. Now if the scrolls gave 20 skill points to any character level 20 or higher, then I could throw my support behind that change.
That’s why a set amount of xp for characters above level 20 would be good, and on the matter of creating a character and getting him to the level cap in a matter of seconds, I can and already did it thanks to crafting (well not seconds, but you get the point, it’s already pretty kitten quick).
You don’t get a BL key by getting level 10 but by doing the level 10 personnal story. I think the best would be to get your character to lvl20 if said character is under 20 and giving a set amount of xp for characters above lv20.
How do you survive a dragon attack?
Run faster than Snaff!
HA HA HA
Not sure if you could run as fast as Logan though, he’s pretty good at that.
