That’s a weird one. Never seen links fail to work.
I think that never worked actually.
It happens ONLY on Win XP. I wish ANet said something about this. Since the official requirements state the game runs on XP and above, I guess it should be fixed soon :/
I get this sometimes with Infiltrator’s Arrow for thieves too.
Ouch, I wonder how that happened.
So we all agree that making instances active even after the creator has left is a really good change. However it has led to instance-stealing/griefing, because there isn’t really anything that could stop them (apart from a later ban if they get reported, assuming said player is willing to make the effort to report them).
So I had the idea of instance ownership modified. If someone leaves a party willingly, they would give up their instance ownership. If they were kicked:
- they could either kick players from that instance and get it back
- or if above isn’t possible, just close it, kicking out the griefers.
The latter is basically the old system but it would be optional, and only available when being forced out of the party.
What do you think?
I have way too many screenshots to upload them here… so here is a link to a large collection (my PC ain’t the best though): http://howellq.imgur.com/
Can’t really explain it, I’ll just attach a screenshot. The sliding menu that shows “hot” items is misaligned, the little button that is for switching to the next 3 covers the left one partially.
Removing white swords from objectives to give defenders a stronger role in alerting their team as well as giving attackers more of a chance to get through having their siege disabled.
I have concerns about this.
Right now worlds who have bad coverage (whatever the reason is) are already struggling with defence. This will even make it worse for them. I can’t really understand the point of this, since the main problem with scouting is the no-reward (unless some people in the community decide to pay the volunteering scouts but this is rare and it shouldn’t be like this!). Seriously, has any dev took the job of scouting objectives during the Tournament? Because if you have, you know this isn’t okay. If you haven’t, I don’t even know why you made this decision.
Another problem is that right now you can tell if an enemy objective is tagged only from the white swords, since the defence event can only be seen by those who own the objective.
My idea: make NPCs a bit more useful for defending. How?
We have NPCs at every objective. Veteran Scouts are present everywhere and Veteran Archers are present at walled objectives. My solution would be this: if you remove the white swords, make these two types of guards act like the Sentry Turrets in EotM. They can mark enemies in their aggro range (Archers have a larger range). When they die, they stop marking the enemies. There were discussions earlier about making NPCs help defend. This doesn’t really require much coding like making them use siege (which I bet is not an easy task) and it still falls into the “NPCs helping to defend” category. This way Veteran Scouts (and of course Archers) would live up to their names.
It has to be done. People keep going to “normal” WvW to get their tickets from the Battle Historian, then AFK there afterwards, creating longer queues at reset time. It’s already long enough without them.
I think most WvWers will make the sacrifice of going to EotM to get our tickets.
Celebratory steak might be even better to craft (at rating 25) but you need to visit meatober fest first to get the recipe.
The recipe sheets are account bound. You can go there with another character buy, a stack of recipes then bank them.
- Flame Ram Trolling: Flame Rams should rot after 15 minutes if they have not dealt damage to anything. This will destroy 100% of all troll Flame Rams built inside structures, while leaving legitimate ones unaffected. I’ve seen players refresh many Flame Rams in an effort to try to siege cap a map.
Nooo, I use flame rams for mass fears (50 targets, pulses, adds up to about 12-15 seconds of fear with the right build)! Don’t ruin it!
Because commander tags are fairly common, I recommend adding to this suggestion that might also hit two birds with one stone:
For every person in a Commander’s squad, exhaustion from placing siege is reduced by 1 minute (making it so only a few people in the squad would reduce this exhaustion to zero). Because of this, the natural ‘Exhaustion’ period could be something higher like 10 minutes.
What this will do:
- Promote people following a commander to join their squad (“Join my squad so I can drop siege!”). This habit will make it easier for commanders to check supply as well.
- Exhaustion will affect siege trolls who don’t tag up and also get multiple people to follow them. If they do happen to go to this extreme effort, they will be easily spotted on the map for what they are since they’ll have a tag up.
- Promote legitimate defenders to tag up to drop siege and to create a focal defense point for people to see on the map.
Now I don’t want to give ideas to anyone… but literally any player can join any commander. Even from enemy servers. So this isn’t a solution, the troll would just have a few people join their squad from the other server. Or from the guild.

Thanks for the help.
I would say congratulations but I will just say congratulations to all the people who followed you, and your guild without them it wouldn’t have been possible. Oh and that account sharing thing… nasty business.

thanks for the link!
Unless that guy has proof, you are the first. Congrats
First of what? Posting a screenshot? Care too much to be recognized for having much playtime? Or sleeping 15min per day for months?
Or sharing the account with someone Nuff said, I don’t wish them trouble.

I put my album in an album link since there’s quite a few :P http://imgur.com/a/hsp2E
Characters are Hulk, Harley Quinn, Joker, The Bounty Hunter, Abraham Lincoln, Darth Vader, Black Dynamite, Colonel Sanders and Ronald McDonald. I did also have Charles Bronson and Yoda but I can’t find the screens and the chars don’t exist anymore.
(I see that others have put doubles up e.g Ronald, but the more the merrier!)
Catch the thief! He stole Raines Fury’s look!
Here’s my Cosplay Characters:
Zelda
Kasmeer
Ellen Kiel
The rules state that you have to take the image next to the original NPC or it’s invalid.
I was wondering I could enter with my Ministry of Purity cosplay But that wouldn’t be fair.
Why not?
At very least you can just show off, and be a non-concur entry.
Because I won Lilith’s last contest with it :P link to entry in that topic

My gandolf Dark And White One :p.
Gandalf without a Gandalf hat? Pfff.
I will now steal your look and attempt to make a female version.
Ow, I just realized the chest is different for females And found out the boots clip (though with smart dying it could be hidden, I guess).
Tried a few ones (preview dying… meh), but there aren’t really similar ones. The Whispers one looks great but the cleavage-boobholes are just weird. The T3 one was pretty good as well, it looked weird on male.
I love it. Now he is “homesick”… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gRX44_1oGig
1st Place: Howell Qagan.9752 . I mean… You really stole it. You were ninja like in your theft of this contest, but I honestly can’t find a better winner. The whole samurai thing, wow. Just wow. Thank you for entering. I will now steal your look and attempt to make a female version.
Wow. I can’t believe Thanks! And congratulations to the others.
Lemme know what you want for 600 gems btw ^^
Oh, totally forgot XD I’ll take the Belinda’s Greatsword Skin please.

You just r—ed my eyes with that picture.

Thanks gw2forumautocensore. I guess.
Was that picture taken in TA btw?
Thanks, both of you!

Alright, I’ll just give up. Please mods, close this thread. Thanks.
I don’t want it to be lost but since it’s not needed I don’t want it bumped.
Is this info helpful to devs at all?
Above linked reddit thread has lots of reports on what achievement people got instead of the real placement.
Many players have unlocked the wrong achievement, not the one their world placed at. Most of us didn’t even get the chest.
So a guildie noticed that while not getting the reward chest, he got the achievement for the Spring 2014 Tournament amongst the regular Achievements. For the 4th place. We are on Piken. Haven’t transferred, been here for 1+ year. I got the 7th place achievement but no chest, while Piken placed as 2nd. Other guildies got the achievement for the 7th place too, so it’s not only me. Those who got the chest got the achievement for the 2nd.
So please ask people from your server who did and didn’t get their rewards: what is their achievement saying (+ what is the real placement), and if they got their rewards.
TL;DR: those who didn’t get their reward in our guild got a different spring 2014 placement achievement (in the WvW>World vs World section) than the real placement of our homeserver. None of us transferred in a long time. Please share your data.

If Unyielding Blast is active, then Life Blast underwater applies 2 stacks of vulnerability on the caster (cannot be stacked, it renews to 10 seconds).
Ok, i’ve tried a few thigs, it doesn’t seem to be locked by the client language. I was in a french QD with my english client and the option toggled, and could still see the text. Tried to restart the game, it didn’t change. I guess it takes your home world language rather than your client language.
Regular chat or /me emotes?
Regular chat. But I edited my post, I was in my home world, thus I could read everybody and everybody could read me. SO my “findings” are irrelevant.
Ah right!

I don’t mind reading French or Spanish in chat. I don’t understand it, but that’s not the real problem… I’m German, I play on a German server, but my client is set to English (because the german translation is often wrong or confusing). If a player from another German server (that has his language set to German) writes something in mapchat, I can’t read it – because our server is not the same, our client language is not the same and they most likely are not in our guild or on my friendlist as well…
I would like to turn off Spanish and French and Russians in mapchat, but that forces me to turn off those other players too… Maybe we could have a list of available languages and turn them on/off separately?
Could look like that:
_________________________________________________
| Only show chat from players using following client languages:
|
| [x] English
| [x] German
| [ ] French
| [ ] Spanish
| [ ] Bork Bork Bork
| [ … ]
|_________________________________________________I think this could be a satisfying option for all of us…
And definitely don’t make it default. Let everyone set it up.
Oh, I know the solution. Make it a CHECKBOX. Something like “Hide messages from players with other client language” or “Show only your client language messages from other players” Everyone is happy now ^^
D’oh?
Let’s see…If it is not on by default, then no one that reads the patch notes knows about it, and (for them, probably the majority) the problem continues to exist.
If it is on by default, everyone (that it might concern) is made aware of it, and can choose to enable it, or not.
Considering so few read patch notes, according to statements on the forums, it probably is not the worst way of bringing it game-wide to attention.
Well I look at it like this: if it’s on by default, and people don’t know about it, it ruins gameplay. If it’s not on by default, and people don’t know about it, players and their preferences can ruin the gameplay. I say it’s not good if the game itself ruins gameplay.
facepalm they didn’t think this through uh?
People complained about seeing other languages in EotM too, I don’t know if people await Anet to be gods when the issue is first and oremost caused by the players who are disrespectful enough to insult everyone people speaking another language.
You didn’t get the change either. It’s client language based. If someone has English client, and you have too, they can still insult you in another language and you will see it unless you block them!
I don’t know how anyone else feels about this but my reaction was the same as I had to the profanity filter – turned it off as soon as I logged in and I’ll hopefully forgot it even exists before long.
I understand some people don’t like to see other languages but this is not a fix for that, it’s just creating a new range of problems alongside it.
Being that EoTM is just a karma train, the only thing needed to communicate is “clockwise” and “counter-clockwise.” I’m sure GW2 players are smart enough to learn these two words in a variety of languages.
I don’t think you’ve understood how this new option works. If you’re on an English language server (for example) the game now defaults to hiding everything said by anyone on a French, German or Spanish server.
No matter what language they say it in, or whether you’re able to understand it or not. It just won’t appear so you’d never know they said anything at all.
Correction: actually it depends on client language. There are people who play an English client on non-English servers, I believe.
so they implement what the forums have being crying about, and now u gonna start bs’ting that its again not good…
As you can read in the first sentence: you can choose to disable/enable this function, you no want, u no need to use.
It’s on by default. Majority of people don’t read update notes (How do I know? Check map chat/guild chat after updates, and see all the stupid questions that are all in the update notes!). So they won’t know what’s going on. The thing is good, I’m not against it. Just don’t make it on by default.

I’m sad to hear it’s that for you, but I and many others like to play WvW there too.
This new chat change affects EotM in EU really badly. Read more on this thread. Thanks for your support.
(edited by Howell Qagan.9752)
Added a chat option – enabled by default – that shows only the messages coming from players sharing your client’s text language.
- This option is only applied in to the /map and /say channels, as well as the /team channel in the Edge of the Mists. Other channels are not affected.
- Messages from players in your friend list are never hidden.
- Messages from players from the same World as yours are never hidden.
- Messages from players currently in your party are never hidden.
- Messages from players representing the same guild as you do are never hidden.
- Reminder: if you encounter players using abusive or rude language in chat, please report them by right-clicking their name in the chat window and selecting ‘Report.’
- Blocking a player still functions the same way.
So I feel this is like a kick in EotM pug commanders on EU. Now I know it’s not intentional but this week red side has French, German and Spanish servers too. And to be honest red side is already underpowered compared to the other sides, we even have less players and now by default those with other than the commander’s client language won’t see what the commander writes on chat. And that’s the only communication a commander has about what he would like to do.
In my opinion it either shouldn’t work on EotM or shouldn’t be enabled by default.
TLDR: megaserver chat changes affecting EotM is bad for EU pug commanders, since other client language players can’t read their directions!
Suggestion: don’t make it on by default because majority of players don’t read update notes, and they won’t know why the commanders are so silent.
(edited by Howell Qagan.9752)
This is a suggestion for a temporary solution of “account-bound” commandership.
Characters with a commander book used already could buy an account-bound version of the Commander’s Compendium for free (maybe no gold, only 250 badges of honor, or totally free), then bank it for other characters.
This would only work if ANet isn’t planning on refunding those with multiple commander books used already. Which I’m not exactly sure about, since if it affected a larger number of players then it would be a large amount of gold dumped into the economy, which they clearly wouldn’t want.
