Let me share a secret with you. I killed Flame Legion for 6 hours straight so I would never have to worry about Tyria xp ever again. I am by no means a hardcore grinder, but it was a one-time sacrifice I was willing to make since it was so [blank] time effective. But there’s no way I’m gonna grind 49,530,000 xp to fully train all my HoT masteries since it would take me far longer to do so and I’m a very busy adult with bills to pay. I’ll rather create and level up 10 alt’s fully (Since that’s about the xp it requires) than grind for them since I am less restricted on the things I can do and can enjoy the game much more if I had the time. So what if this means I don’t get to truly explore 100% of the jungle, I have already accepted that fact. Unless ANet makes the grind much more reasonable by adding a farm or removing the exorbitant amount of xp required to explore every nook and cranny, then I’ll be taking my time and money elsewhere.
Yeah, I don’t find the grind versus reward worth-while and that is strictly my opinion on the current state of the game. Some people may disagree with me, as this stuff is all subjective, but that’s totally fine by me. I’m just mentioning how I handle things because I’ve been seeing way too much “This is how you should play the game”, “How dare you tell me what to do”, etc. drama going around kind of nonsense. Constructive criticism/feedback is good, but there’s no need to be bashing other people about it.
Hmm.. Let me do the math.
4,294,967,295 gems needed
8000 gems cost $100 USD
You would need to place 536,870.911875
8000 gem orders, surely getting the attention of any reputable credit card agency out there. For the sake of accuracy, let’s say you can buy the exact amount of gems you wanted even though that method is currently not possible in the game yet.
To unlock this episode, you would need $53,687,091.19 to play this episode, before tax. Sounds pretty pricey to me.
It’s your lucky day! Demand for silk is at a 6 month low and supply is gradually building up on the TP, meaning now is a good time as ever to gather up as much as you need. I can’t say how long this would last though, because it would just be pure speculation.

I like really, really, really hate in-game advertisements as well. I don’t mind them at all if ANet limited them to the news section when you log in, but apparently they are that desperate for views that they have to spam the [blank] out of you every time you hit a loading screen. This relates to why ad-blockers have become a thing, because there’s a point where consumers say “enough is enough”.
I just wanted to share my experience with the recent update. While it amazes me how ANet always seems to break stuff non-related to their updates, I’m still disappointed in how they haven’t devised a new system to help minimize on such problems. I’m really trying to get myself back into the game (Not doing just daily’s) and stuff, especially since HoT is around the corner. But its times like these where some voice inside my head is telling me to just put the game down and move onto something else.
Just about every single time I enter a loading screen, my screen will flicker a extra black screen (Besides the one right before I actually fully load into a area) and my graphics look “offset” to what they are usually on after I load in. (I play with the same settings and can tell when stuff doesn’t look “right”) This always happens to me unless I reset my graphics settings to say Best Appearance and then switch it back to Best Performance for example, then it sometimes won’t flicker and everything would look normal to me. However, sometimes my game client will just out-right crash on me when doing this, so I’m basically back to square one with this issue.
That’s bad enough to deal with, but the black screens are much worse when entering/exiting water. It’s like the game had to re-load everything before you get a image back again! How in the world was this broken?!
Karma boosters were the only booster I found worth it since I spend my karma on stuff, whether it be legendary related or for gold. I would convert all my non-karma boosters into Enchanted boosters so that I could turn those boosters essentially worthless to me into something worthwhile. Thank you ANet for screwing me over with this update. I really appreciate it. (Sarcasm if you couldn’t tell)
I tried out a couple of world bosses with my ranger:
Did FE, never landed a single crit
Did Inquest Mark Golem II, was only able to crit using LB skill 5. All other attacks had 0% crit chance.
If your gonna make the bosses prone to being critically hit, then all the “hit boxes” should allow critical damage from any skill. It seems like hitting a specific area with AoE attacks are the only way to crit world bosses now. Had I been on my ele, I probably would have seen more crit strikes as I primarily use staff.
The main thing I noticed is that the fights take nearly twice as long in a average map. (Random join, no taxi or guild group organizing it) Some many not mind the extra time spent, but others will find it more boring.
I’m really curious to see how Teq is, because that’s the world boss I primarily care about if I do world boss trains.
As the owner of two guild storage banks myself (Well one is still in construction, but its already been fully funded), I was particularly worried about this myself. After reading the article below, it sounds like you will still have access to your guild bank. However, if you want to create any more storage guilds, then it’ll probably be best to do it right now before HoT comes since you can just buy all the influence you need to fully construct it.
After finishing up map completion on my Ranger last night, I went on a side quest to collect all the pets and realized that the four pets you can only get via the HoM cannot be tamed because the content is still disabled when I visited my HoM.
More specifically:
Juvenile Black Moa
Juvenile Rainbow Jellyfish
Juvenile White Raven
Juvenile Black Widow Spider
It’ll be nice to be able to claim them as rewards because I had accumulated 30 HoM points back in my Guild Wars days.

I’ll drop in a comment here too. This issue doesn’t seem to be restricted to particular place from my personal experience. I couldn’t go to my favorite daily Kryta forager place with my ele a couple days ago because of this code 5 error. My Ranger can’t get into LA because of this error, etc. And of course I am able to immediately log back into the game, so its not on my end. I have guild missions tonight and in my free time I am currently doing map completion with my Ranger, so I’ll get to see how many more times I encounter this problem.
But for the meantime, it seems like Mordremoth has gained a new power to boot you off the game sometimes whenever you travel to a map that your not currently in.
I’ve been asking myself why am I doing this to myself, grinding endlessly just to get a portal. I don’t even know how big the beta is nor what time it will actually be live, so even if I gotten a drop, work may prevent me from playing it. Now that I have really thought about it, I would probably never do a pure RNG based event ever again. I’ve learned my lesson with the mystic toilet; I don’t know why I thought RNGesus would be kind to me in this event.
I have gathered up a TON of crests, shovels, bags, and gold in SW, but no portal drop. Dry top really isn’t my thing, but I imagine the drop rates are the same in either map, so I’ve been staying in my field of expertise. I’ve seen on average 1-3 people map chat their drop out per map cycle, and I’ve seen people get 2, 3, even 4 portals. Yet no matter how many events I do, I can never seem to get a single drop.
The only thing this beta event is doing is making me more likely to host a 1,000 shovel chest train marathon in the future.
Yep, I doubled checked to make sure I had the mushroom mastery equipped and it still told me that I haven’t mastered them yet. I kind of sort of wanted to see if there was any kind of special animation associated with them, but oh well, time will tell.
This is typical ANet for ya’. I would love to max out my abilities in WvW, so now is a good time to start WvW and EotM-ing for those points, but I haven’t been able to do that ever since it started because of the disconnects.
Yak’s Bend here. I’m a big WvW/EotM player and the lag has only been happening to me whenever there are a lot of people playing in the EotM instance or WvW map I am in. If not a lot of people are playing, then I don’t have this issue. Haven’t been able to play reset night without connectivity lag and disconnects for a couple weeks now. I bet people who don’t have this problem are enjoying the easy kills I provide them.
Recently, as in the past couple weeks or so, I’ve been having issues playing WvW/EotM when there are a whole lot of people in the map. Whenever I would join up with the zerg, the connectivity lag will start, where I see people running in all directions, I can’t use skills, the things you typically see when you have internet problems. Thing is, outside all this, I can play the game. Oh, I lost the connection with the server? Then why can I easily log back into the game with no problems whatsoever?
This really sucks especially since WvW and EotM make up a huge chunk of what I actually do in the game. This reminds me of the time when I was new to the game and suddenly could not play the game at all with the disconnects after my 1st week. This time, its just WvW/EotM.
Maybe some networking code was broken with these game updates coming out again? I know that when stuff is added or changed in the game, weird stuff can happen. I remember when my Copper-Fed Salvage-o-Matic stopped making those voices after the big feature pack. It was eventually fixed in a later update, but my mind does pick up on stuff like this.
I’ll put my money on the servers being overloaded with players that they deliberately drop some players connections to prevent the whole thing from crashing down. When the connection is cut, that’s when you start getting insane amounts of packet loss as they aren’t being accepted by the servers and being lost in the network(s) the data travels through. Unless you regain connection, just about all the game packets being sent will back up until you “officially” get disconnected from the game.
I wasted way too much time on this issue. It also explains why my first few days were problem free — I played on the lowest population server when I first joined. I can now only play the game when there are little to no people in the area I am in to avoid getting lag/disconnects. Kind of takes the MMO out of MMORPG if you ask me. But whatever, obviously I’m not going to financially support a game I can’t play. It’s kind of funny though how tech support responds fast to people having problems buying stuff in the game though. When have you ever seen them post on one of these topics quickly and not put the blame on your ISP, firewall, etc.?
Take a look at the “Network Lag [Merged]” topic. That’s where posts get moved to when the admins do another one of those “cleanup runs” in the forums. Everything else they deem unnecessary gets deleted.
If you have a game account for the original Guild Wars, can you play it?
-Yes
Where are you playing Guild Wars 2 from?
-Texas (DFW area)
At what time and in which time zone do you play Guild Wars 2?
Central time zone, can be anytime when I’m off from work: morning, afternoon, evening, night
Additional Info:
Logging into my account and character is no issue
Despite having continuous connectivity issues for the past couple weeks, I was magically able to play the game for a good amount of time tonight. I noticed that the lag and disconnects only happened when people were around me regardless of if I’m in a city or outside exploring. I was able to play through two instances in my story mode with minimal lag.
You don’t also have to go with the “latest and the greatest” machines out there. I play on a older version of the Aorus X7 — the one with dual GTX 765M’s and I have no problem playing the game when I am able to.
I’m way ahead of you on that. I completely uninstalled the game, searched for “Guild Wars 2” to delete the leftover files that remained, and ran Registry cleaner in CCleaner. Rebooted my PC just for safe measures and proceeded to download the entire game again, except that I will put it on my SSD this time. It was actually working fine for a moment, but then the lag and disconnects starting happening after a half-ish hour of play.
Yep, it still is. I still suffer from too much packet loss the way my packets are being transmitted to the game servers. The only thing I haven’t tried yet is switching internet providers.
I play on Ferguson’s Crossing from Texas and my data gets routed from the AT&T network to level3’s network. For some reason though, the packets get sent to Washington, Paris, and Frankfurt before finally reaching the servers. It’s a extremely inefficient data route if you ask me because of the high pings that result and potential for more packet loss with each and every data hop. Ferguson’s Crossing is an American server too, so why are my packets being routed out of the country?
Some google searches suggest that AT&T and level3 don’t get along very well, but one of my guildies has AT&T and doesn’t have this issue. Probably because he lives in a different location than me though… I’ll see what ArenaNet has to say after they have analyzed the PingPlotter data I sent them just recently.
Alright, I’ve got time to continue hunting down the cause of this issue…
I’m still having issues with the game. I ran the diagnostic test and the results puzzle me a bit. I can connect to all the servers, no problem. The first time I ran the program,
when it was tracing network paths, it thought that the trace was complete when the data went to my “homeportal”.
So I decided to open up cmd.exe and run a tracert command to the server ip (207.127.158.1) and it actually ran like it was supposed to. It got rerouted to some crazy places so I decided to give the diagnostic test a 2nd chance. The results conflict each other, but both are not good. What I see in cmd is that it fully traces, but I get some really high pings because the data gets sent to Washington, it goes to Paris (France) and Frankfurt (Germany) before reaching the servers!!! The 2nd run of the diagnostics suggests that 100% of the data gets lost somewhere in the AT&T network outside my control. I live in Texas and I play on Ferguson’s Crossing, which is an American server. I don’t think ArenaNet would name a server American if it wasn’t actually in America. (Although I wonder why the server time is several hours ahead of my time zone)
I got 4 days of game play in problem-free before I started having connectivity issues yesterday. The game has basically been unplayable for me ever since. It’s not a firewall/anti-virus/port issue unlike what’s mentioned in the FAQ. I already went through trying to “fix” all that mess and still have issues with staying connected to the server. One things for sure, your not the only one dealing with this issue!
I started having the disconnects yesterday. I’ve messed around with my firewall and anti-virus settings, opened ports up, update all my drivers. What’s weird is that I got 4 days of play into this game before I started having this issue. Super annoying to say the least! I can log in and connect to the server just fine, but for some reason, I just can’t maintain a connection to the server anymore!
I’m basically having the same issues as darksilklips.3165, except that I never really tried to walk far away from where-ever I’m at in the game when I start lagging. It sucks especially when you bought a whole new rig to play games you were never able to play before. I can’t really make any headway into my story anymore with this mess.
Also to add to that, somehow my chat somewhat works as I still get messages when I get one of those lag spikes.
