Currently it’s terrible for solo play.

Everything will most likely 1Hit Kill you.

If you’re planning to do Hero Points Challenge it is possible (I had to solo the one in Creeping Crevasse) depending on the champion you’re tasked to face (I had troll with bees) you may or may not have enough damage to kill boss within the 4 minute timer.

I can’t say the game isn’t a grind fest right now since the expansion zone is starting to become a “Quick grind out masteries so you’ll never have to do it again ever ever ever again.” I forsee the expansion zone being abandoned just like Dry Top.

As for fun meter, I’d give it a 4/10.

I couldn’t stand more than 2 hours of gameplay with confusing map, glitching quests, and just straight up annoying Mastery system. The whole time I was “playing” the game I kept muttering to myself what idiot in their right mind would have reason to lock story behind Mastery walls. I know most of us play games as stress relief but this expansion makes me more aggravated the longer I play it and I’ve played grinding games like Monster Hunter and Toukiden..

In fact if you check the invoice of a car when signing the contracts, a key is listed $0.00 but dealers if they so choose to can actually charge you for the key since you’re only buying the car. WTH. Umm.. no. The key is part of the car when you buy it. Name one place that sells you the car but not the key. Otherwise, don’t make things up just so they continue to fit with your narrative. And FYI, even if they charge for the key, it’s a fee you have to pay to get the car unless you can haggle them out of it which in most cases you can. This is not the same situation as with HoT.

Fremont Honda, for my 2009 Honda Accord, $55.00 First key. $145.00 2nd key.

Daly City Toyota for my 2007 Toyota Corolla First key $35.00, the second key was $115.60

Their excuse was “we have to program the keys to the cars.”

Wrong, since you already own GW2 your $49.99 will only get you the expansion. There is no second key for the core game.

Just like HoT Arena Net CAN sell you just the expansion but if they did that new players would see that core game = $24.99 and then see price of expansion is “so called” $50 and then ditch the game. which is why they threw it in there making the total cost of Core + Expansion to be $49.99, but then is a slap to the face to every Veteran because now we have to shell out $49.99 for JUST the expansion because we do not gain any benefit of having the core Guild Wars 2 key again. Arena Net wants to treat us like we’re worthless because New Players > Old Players in terms of importance.

If they had the package as 49.99 for Core Guild Wars 2 “KEY” AND HoT “KEY”(notice I said Key twice) Then both side would benefit because Veterans could give the 2nd Core game key to their family/friends/whatever and have access to HoT. But I’m sure some sheep will tell me it’s not benefiting Arena Net when they’re getting more player base at the cost of somebody else expense…

And Quite frankly I don’t see how this “expansion” would be worth $49.99
It’s just Guild Wars 2 re-branded, new logo slapped onto it, added 1 extra class + new maps.

SWTOR does the same thing with level cap, story line, etc. but their “expansion” is $19.99 and they switched to a Free to play Model where you don’t even need to buy the core game anymore.

So explain to me how exactly is HoT worth the $49.99?

Is there another years worth of content?

As far as I can see 2 months is the maximum i’d rate it so far.

Is the new class that “Special” that it has an outrageous price tag?

Did Arena Net hire some new animators and developers and this new price tag offset the costs?

Nothing was ever announced.

If this expansion pack is worth $49.99 i’m not see it.

ANet deemed that no new player should face the barrier of buying previous expansions(as is the case with every MMO ever, but i know that for many people GW2 is their first MMO and they are not familiar with this concept) so they decided to give the core game for as a gift for the good of the game.

Except the core game isn’t a gift because nothing is ever free..

You can’t play the expansion without core game..

Looking at a veteran’s point of view we see it as $24.99 = core Guild Wars 2, 25$ expansion pack. because this is exactly what it is, a Marketing scheme.

It’s the same if I were to sell you a Car, MSRP at $20,000 but to make it a better deal, I’d tell you, Oh if you purchase the car i’ll give you the keys to the car for free.

You can’t drive a car without the keys to the car.

If it was , oh when you purchase HoT you get 2 keys.

1 key for the Core game and 1 key for the expansion, that I could understand because even if veterans owns the game already they could always give the core key to somebody else.

Same thing with the car.. I own the key to the car yet I don’t have the car.. dealer sells me the car with an extra key.. I can use my own key and give the 2nd key to my husband.

But then again common sense might as well be thrown out the window..

1. Arena Net has deemed all Guild War 2 Purchases Prior to January 23, 2015 is worth kittens because guild wars 2 is now “free” and we can all claim refunds for $24.99 because the expansion pack is only worth $25; but due to the powers of “Marketing schemes” the core price of the game is included with the price of the expansion hence the “Standard Package”

2. Since Guild Wars 2 no longer exists we have all been scammed for the past 3 years therefore can file a claim with the FCC for misdemeanor fraud.

Now let’s assume Arena Net is telling the truth, and the “Expansion” was worth $49.99 that means Guild wars 2 should be free to play…

If guild wars 2 “WAS” free then why isn’t there a public registrar and download link to Guild Wars 2 oh that’s right because NOTHING is ever free.

You’re still paying 24.99 for the core game it’s just they’ve included it in the price for the expansion too.

Okay, a lot of you have are complaining that the price of the game is unfair, let me try to breakdown the price of the “pack” so you understand.

As well all know prices of games decrease over time, That’s why Arena Net is bundling the core guild wars 2 into the pack.

To justify the cost obviously because nothing is free in the world.

When I bought the game on June 29, 2014 it was sitting at $24.99

Currently the HOT expansion + core guild wars 2 game = $49.99

if we were to take $24.99 out of $49.99 we’d have $25.00 flat (minus tax/vat.etc)

25$ for an expansion which is currently the average rate for expansions, if we’re comparing to SWTOR.

Now lets compare the “Deluxe” edition.

Arena Net has deemed:

1. All previous purchase of Guild Wars 2 Prior to January 23, 2015 are worth kitten because our game is now “USED”

2. The 1-3 years of ownership was enough to get your monies worth and game’s worth down to 0.

As “Veterans” You’ll be lucky to even request a $24.99 refund for your core guild wars 2 to buy the “Standard” Package because sooner or later both with be worth kitten when the “3rd” expansion is announced and released.

Every time I see this item and how it’s been priced, I can only think of:

It’s the same with the “free shipping gimmick”

Item cost $14.99; shipping is 4$. Seller lists as $19.99 + free shipping.

Usually when ANET does something like this they are planning better gathering tools but want players to spend their gems so they can purchase more gems.

Most of the legendary are butt ugly, people only wear them to show accomplishment, I personally skin’d over my sunrise for a foefire’s essence since a sword dripping liquid makes no sense to me.

Unfortunately depending on the map server, most Silverwastes you happen to join if it’s less than 50% complete most players will afk/sit in camp all day waiting for the % bar to go up to 75ish before contributing, Other problems involve people refusing to participate unless a certain "Monster " (husk.etc) spawns because it doesn’t benefit them.

You forgot to mention standing in the little WHITE triangles is a GOOD thing. Especially when whole room is flooded with poison.

I hope they get to mine soon it’s been 6 days already no reply yet. Backlog must be really full.

Actually I don’t really care for legendaries that much I find some ugly, but what I do want is at least one of my characters to have 100% map completion, so I could finally say “Never, Again”

Oh if only guardian COULD wear Light Armor because some of the heavy armor looks dreadful and being knocked down by the slightest hit makes me feel like i’m wearing light armor.. Also if it’s called Heavy Armor why do Warriors/Guardians even need stability I mean isn’t it suppose to be I don’t know heavy?, Could it be heavier?

So my world is at the bottom of the pitiful barrel ranked number 24 at Tier 8.. (Nobody ever said anything about ranks when I selected a world)

Every week we are looking at the same scenario,* map I have attached*, this time we’re red.

Barely anybody does WvW from my server,
How is any player from my server even able to do 100% map completion for WvW when everything is always enemy capped, guards aggro automatically, and you can’t even reach most of the POI without breaking down gates and walking within inches of the POI?

Is there some sort of blasphemy trick I’m not seeing?

I mean I can see it be done if there was like some sort of “cooling off” period say 1-2 hours every day of Cease fire where any player can roam freely to claim any POI they are missing. Because right now unless I transfer or convince a large group of people to WvW(Highly unlikely) my chances of getting 100% map in WvW is slim to none.

Also waiting for colors to change is a no go because within 1-2 hour of WvW resetting our points was capped enemy colors.
