There is PVE in this game? Seriously? XD Oh, wait! Maybe I have missed that part where you mindlessly dodge and smash buttons to kill some… stuff around. Kewl! =))))
I’m fine with my nightblade as she is now… Oh, wait! Wrong game! Silly me. -_-
@Vornollo +1
There is no hope. It’s a mesmeric illusion. =)
What are exactly GOOD rewards in this game? Another weapon skin? Oh, wait! Another helmet? Yeah, right! Say – LEGENDARY. Sounds sweet and stuff… even though it is same kitten as ascended gear with silly look and no option to change it. =)
So basicly people tell that there are enigmatic casuals in STILL casual game (and poorly balanced btw) that feel entitled for a bunch of pixels. I smell fetish envy here… /gloat
PS
There was several times a situation on wyverns when 90% of participants fall flat on their faces. And I ran and ressed them with my so unconvenient (not a single meta) acrobat thief build. REALLY hope they were ALL bad casuals. You can’t really imagine how HARD I really hope you were right in this matter (and not games poor design to look “harsh” fro noobz). God kittening kitten it! XD

Wow… someone can sit and play this game THAT long. XD
I burned out in first two hours. Just went from SWTOR new update and… BAM! Grind wall… and where??? In GW2! That was not supposed to happen. At the same time in SWTOR they gave ppl downlevel and ability to play together at any level and TP from anywhere where you want with no cooldown. =) Niceeee…. + housing, own spaceship, loads of mounts and simplier outfit system… Times they are changing.
NO. Do not buy it. Level up, play for some time. Get back to your senses so to speak, do some World Boss run with sites like Dragon Temple, check dungeaons, listen to several chuncks of the booooring main story and then – decide.
For one thing worth was my pre-order – to let others of my friends know that HoT is not worth it. We shall see in the future how things come, but after 3 years this expac looks like a joke.
AND basicly ANet tell us that THIEF who can shoot macedonian style, THIEF that can make use of shaoling like moves with daggers and swords, THIEF that can evade and strike from the shadows, turn invisible and on and on CAN"T use staff??? Really? kitten freakinf stick 6 feet long withput choosing DD trait line that is kitten right away cause of Hero Point lacking…
Well that is BS!!!
LOGIC?! Bah, well it was never ANet strong side.
(edited by Ihrga.8325)
9 kb/s REALLY? What year is it out there? 1999? Nope… Ah, 2015! Didn’t know that retro was THAT popular nowadays.
Simply put ANet will never learn. Ever. What kind of launch day for HoT awaits us? I don’t want even to imagine. /sarcasm_off
Neither to pre-order. =)
I will sign for the petition! Is there any available? =)
Try ESO sometimes… If you can move past 15 mins loading screens.
Yes! Opener, I am with you! ^^ BTW you can mute down ALL dialogues in Opttions this should help.
Frankly speaking besides Revenant we lack dual wied swordsmen here in Tyria of your type. Maybe cause dual wied swords of equal proportion is not that of evasive style in reality to begin with. Try Revenant then. Best bet and got pro-eastern resemblence in one of his modes (assassin ir smth).
According to dictionary – a swordsman is:
1. a person who uses or is skilled in the use of a sword.
2. a fencer.
3. a soldier.
If we are speaking about SAO protagonist → japaneese origing → kenjutsu or other eastern interpretation of a swordfight.
SO! We have thief and mesmer in minus. Cause thief is a lot about fencer using rapier in main & dagger or pistol in off-hand and delightful to those, who prefer spain or italian style with bit of fantasy here and there. Mesmer utilizes alot of magic and plays rather with your mind then your sword – so not a good resemblense. Ranger represents mixed techniques and reminds more about shaoling part of the swordsmanship spectre (btw as a thief no dual sword either).
In conclusion – your best shot will be dual-sword wielding revenant or warrior with using one of the outfits (mad scientist or smth that suits you) that is not look like heavy armor. I would go for warrior – he is powerfull, easy and does not have strong connection to Tyria lore as Revenant do.
I never tackled this topic so far, but i want to write this down, in bullets so you can easly understand:
- manifesto = intents, and you can’t always deliver what you want;
- things changed at release because they had to, not because they wanted to troll us saying A then doing B after a month for the sake of it
- an example is ascended gear, implemented because people didn’t have a goal to GRIND, now they cry about the grind. LOL
- i’m not whiteknighting anybody, but being a dev myself i know that sometimes you have to change what you dream to program, because kitten happends
- they addressed the grind issue saying they do no want people to grind to enjoybevery aspect of the game, and THIS IS TRUE, and do not philophize about fractal 50 not available because of ascended because you’d look dumb. That’s progression, not gear check in a WoW sense. Because look, some dungeons or world bosses require coordination and knowledge to complete, are you saying is bad because you have to grind the “skill” to make them? LOL because to become skillful you have to repeat the content over and over to be good.
If everything is handed over and doesn’t require some sort of work/time spent, the game would cleared and dead in 1 month…no exceptions, because that’s how it works. Get over it.Didn’t start like a ranted but i got carried. Sorry. Peace&loot.
So…
- Intents? Really? Check this out: http://www.thefreedictionary.com/manifest
- How about inform people at first sight of such changes?
- Ascended – Weak example showing only that devs do not have imagination for more. Right? Or you find smth else to support this already lost affair?
- Some? Yeah right: triple trouble and Tequatl and THAT’S IT! In dungeons there is a simple thing like stack or run and kite. TWO! Seems like ANet likes that number. =) And as for “skill” term there is no skill in GW2 in true sense of it (mayb in SPVP, but tanky mandatory builds come to mind). You can open any guide, look for some high regen build for ANY class and you are done. For everything PVE wise. And you can F*** up as much as you want. So since when does build and gear composition = skill? BTW repeating content does NOT make you skillful – it trains your memory – thats it. You remember just a simpleton pattern to follow. Nice! Skill at its finest! sarcasm
So no matter how much time and effort this product has gotten it still lacks. Goals, skill gradation, boring quest system, unimaginative world events that are shallow. Seems like the dev team can’t do better. Get over it and stop whiteknighting obvios things!

OMG… TG-theme longs since 1930-s and still is a thing??? Is this some kind of partially Groundhog Day reality?
Well… yet we have another beautiful but lifeless city. In general there are not that lot of points in cities around Tyria at all. No quests (yeah you have several for ONE time story play and thats it), no need to put loot in person in the bank, neither do we have a travelling system that puts some points in cities and towns mere existance.
So and so… frankly ANet. We do believe you have awesome designers – thats not question for us. But… the whole logic behind and just a grain of pragmatism will help it big deal.
Consistency… All that me and many others are praying for. Thx for new talent system rebuild. It won’t help much but good to see smth besides new weapon skins and… ah… well… wings.
Being a fantasy writer myself for a good chunk of 18 years already, seing sh*ts hit the fan numerous times my side I say – GROW A PAIR ALREADY!
ANet gets what they deserve and the matter is NOT only in this kitten pre-purchase! Open your eyes. It’s their general way to deliver things. It’s the time when consumer patience for them flopped. So they need to deal with cosequences and stop whining.
ANet do not work for charity – that is true. They got enough money from their product for these years as reports say. Did we have all that time filled with meaningfull content? I doubt it.But judging from financial report from NCsoft they got alot for their relaxed bugs filled/micro story additions/months long content void efforts I suppose. =)
Don’t really care. Have plenty of other games to play. And see nothing special in upcoming xpac frankly speaking. Vertical zones and gliding after playing Aion for a good chunk of time seems not that exciting. Just my two cents.
They are hardly laughing at ANet. They missed the opportunity to sell xpac for 50$ on it’s own. Now either they cut down the price and misse profits or stick to their guns and… leak customers = miss profits. XD
BTW GW2 is no the only one good game out there.
A good idea for the start is for Anet to grow up and do like BIG companies do and create a site where we can get ALL the recent info about expac in one place AND count for ourselves for what we will pay. Till that time for me personally they are hiding lack of features in upcoming xpac. Thats all.
Yes I paid for GW2 3 years before but back then I got much more info simply to make my mind on it! Now I have pretty nothing compared to those day. Simple as that.

Being a Blizzard advocate here (jeez!) for the first time in years. You pay not only for addon but you know that Blizz will deliever in coming year alot to the initial release. Like 2 or even 3 times more content. And all you pay since purchase of addon is monthly fee. BUT you guaranteed to get alot for that money. It was and is true since BC till MOP (dunno about WoD – cant get myself back).
At the start of new addon development it gets whole new site and there you can check for new monsters, dungeons and even hear some music and download wallpapers and artworks. At the end you can check there for full dungeon raid info and also plans for the future raid progression and addition of factions and stuff.
Now compare what we get from Anet. A little bit here, a little bit there. It looks like grains spread around the table then a huge monolith loaf that keeps growing on your sight (like Blizz do)… SO no wonder Anet fails to deliver a bigger picture of their product. Fun thing is – it can be really solid and worth every penny BUT a random customer gets wrong impression. This leads to conclusion that it is not worth 50$!
Well I actually did (being a huge fan of Elder Scrolls for years). If you have a decent PC or console – ESO is a good way to spent your time. In some ways it reminds me of old-good M&M6-7 and stuff. BUT better graphics and really good quests.
To tell the truth nothing prohibits you to play these two games at the same time. =)
BUT there are several things that OP should know. First – AvA lag aka CyroLag. It is really that bad. 999+ms quite often when you try to fight zerg on zerg. BUT sieges themselves are really good and… well… realistic, more involving but sometimes boring. And last but not least – Veteran Raitings – can cause you a really fast burnout if you won’t manage your time leveling properly. BUT a good thing about VR areas is that you get a nice sandbox feeling at each location. Level range is so small that you can start anywhere you want (from north or south, east or west).
Frankly – ESO jorney is worth it and far more then GW2 main quest line. But engame is the thing that bothers me. Still I am only VR2 and have ALOT of stuff to do.
d/d + SB + knight’s armor + zerker jewelery and weapons for everything PVE. Also Bloodlust sigils on weapons + of purity or similar to get rid of conditions. 0/6/0/6/2 – very agile, constant regenerating health with attacks and really hard to catch thief (2 traits + 1 sigil to regen health) with a good constant control of the field via caltrops drop each dodge. =) All utilities are signets. This way there is no need in stealth. At all. You will yawn at world bosses at some point. Hope it helps.
Randomly appearing problem. And what is REALLY interesting is that me and my gf while play simultaneously from one internet connection have sometimes different experience. Me – no lag at all, her- permanent D|Cs and horrible lags. One connection. One wire. XD
Asked my provider and tested other games – works like charm. Even other NCsoft games. Like Aion and stuff. =) Nice work ANet!
/facepalm
First time in months I’ll protect ANet.
Cmon guys really? So childish! Grow up! Bad guys, huh? I doubt anyone here wasn’t playing bad in some other game and didn’t enjoi it. I suppose here are alot of gamers that prefer wide variety.
To cut it short if I ought to do dirty work I like to be payed for it (SWTOR, APB:Reloaded, Skyrim etc). And payment must be real’ good. Otherwise I don’t see point (arrows and bullets cost money ye know). And thats my only complain here. There were a hell load of those four-hoofed so I havent’s got enough (loot aside). =)
So… It didn’t. Actually. But the direction in wich it all is going tends to reveal dull and worthless experience. Why? I don’t see nothing special in work done rather then huge work to delete any critisism ever from forums and make it “look” good. =)
Is there smth special in this LS? Yes. Can you meet it in any generic fantasy novel (say Forgotten Realms)? Why ofc! So ANet keeps things seem positive on the surface. And the game loses smth special about it. All the people I ask care very little about the plot. Sometimes achievements and challenge (if some find it here in any form – well, lucky for them!). =)
LS reminds me of half-cooked single player RPG stuff. It happens – yes it is. Does it matter? Practically not. It only drives the plot to show that smth happens when generally it wraps the expansion (a little bit) zone by zone for us to swallow… with a reason of some sort.
Alot of this game and the LS stuff too reminds me of how Baldur’s Gate franchise was created. Classes in GW2 – are divided and masked mix of abilities from AD&D 3rd+ but here you can change basically from Assassin to Bounty Hunter spec of a thief in a minute. No need to level new alt. -) And such thing keeps the LS – it is old idea. Adding stuff like little chunks of content. But here they are too small. Remembering BG1 – Durlag’s Tower. Not ot mention BG2 – Throne of Bhaal.
So to summ it up – need more meat! Stories and characters that matter. Intrigue in some sort or drama in another. For this we need charisma for protagonists and ALOT of it. So that more people care. And not only – Oh, wow! New jumping puzzle!
OP please tell me your are kidding! Otherwise… well…Dunno what to say. Try more games maybe? Like, ye know, DMC 2-3-4 or smth.
“Bosses” in this game divide into TWO breeds – annoying and boring. Sometimes they mix. And yes – Teragriff is a mix. He is annoyingly predictable and boring on his HP count. Saying as full zerk thief. Run around in circles and shooting the hell out of him was the only one part of it.
OMG! Thank you dude! It worked!
These days I sometimes see those tunnel dwelling trains in Orr that kill spiders on the first part – fail event second part – repeat… I don’t get what’s the fun in all this?
Use the ledges and ranged weapons. AI is stupid as hell. If you jump off and on and your timig is right – easy. But long, yeah. I know “adopt” isn’t a good word for casual oriented game but as we see the game isn’t so much “casual” at the end of the day. Since any class can use ranged and even a very decent weapon costs a couple of gold – feel free.
Same problem from Russia
Lags starts from 16.01.2014

Same sountry, same ISP, server Aurora Glades… same sh&t. =(
Same thing. Waited like a week for ANet to do smth. EVERY other game works fine. My ISP is fine.
So… FIX. NOW.
