Hello all,

I havent played in almost a year but i am back. I was wondering what are the major changes in the game??

Is there more PVE going on now?
Any good group content?
Are condition builds good for PVE now?
Does the game have more of a trinity set up or is it still kind of everyman for himself in dungeons?

I see a lot of people asking for an expansion.

I get where you’re coming from. New, permanent content is always a good thing, even though the implementation might be a bit off.

Here’s the problem:

Let’s say ANet gives us an expansion. For Example, let’s say Elona. So, we all take our level 80’s to Elona, and run through the content in a month, then we all head back to LA to hang out and cry about dead zones, nothing to do, and how bad GW2 is.

I really don’t want that kind of expansion. I remember once you “won” over the big baddies in GW1, the rest of the time we stand in the hubs looking for something to do. Don’t say it didn’t happen, because I was there. It happened all the time. If you weren’t in one of the big-time GvG guilds, then the content got old, and the grinding for racial and faction reps got tedious. Saying it was glorious is just rose-colored glasses.

Now, on the other hand, let’s say ANet gives us decent Living Story updates with lingering permanent changes to the world, including, but not limited to new areas, and new skins, et al. Add some challenging content in the existing world to go along with the new stuff as well. I think that’s something worth doing.

The thing is that the concept of the Living Story is a good one, but the implementation has been rather haphazard. Some were good, some not so much, but you can’t say there wasn’t something new to do ever two weeks or so, no matter who you are. Choosing not to do it doesn’t mean it wasn’t there.

If they were to update the LS every month instead of every 2 weeks, and give us quality over quantity, I would take LS updates over an expansion any day of the year.

In GW1 my guild 8-manned The Deep often. This was fun for the challenge (it was suppose to be a 12-man dungeon), as well as the end-chest drops. It was the only place to obtain Kanaxai weps which sold for lots.

I have yet to find anything that gives that level of satisfaction.

I also miss the trinity — yeah it was hard to pug but that testifies to the team work required. Right now it’s mostly button mashing.

yea right now i dont feel like my gear makes much of a difference from rare to exotic or such in dungeons. I can dodge and still kill things. Games where you cant dodge and have to take the hit really make gear worth it.

what would b pretty cool is if they allowed for you to replay the gw1 story with your 2 characters in the gw2 combat system. Just my thought. maybe a time machine :P

if they release an expansion they will probably release content that is replayable with it. Such as the hard mode system or the one where you clear the entire zone.

I liked the hex system much better than what we got now. They were simple and worked. It made cleanses work better and spell simple. I am not sure why they actually got rid of them because it would be easier to balance the game with hexes than it is with all the crap now.

mesmer took a hit when we lost confusion since it was a biggy for underwater. One thing id like to see is conditons removed and hexes returned.

im going to assume we will see an expansion pack. With 2 new classes, 1 new weapon set for each class, 8 new skills for each class with 2 new elites and the crystal desert opened.

Don’t get me wrong, i love guildwars, but 2 compared to 1, feels empty… besides the story which was disappointing to me, i feel like the game doesn’t have much of a progression beyond dungeons. Guild wars 1 i always felt like i had things to do and such. One big thing is there isn’t as many secret unlocks and things that came off as mysteries. The underworld in 1 was kinda exciting and you could get a black widow from it. Or the hall of monuments where i could display my achievements and see what was missing. I had group missions to do, where i needed a party to get through some very tough missions and they gave me reasons to do them such as having my armor infused. I could also go grab parties to take out tough bosses and gather elite skills from them. It always seemed like there was something i could do. While in 2 there is much to do, it just isn’t near what 1 offered. I understand 1 was out a lot longer, but some of this was released when the game launched.

I feel like in 2 after i complete my story and grind dungeon armor sets, there isn’t much to do. The legionaries are cool but i am not doing back flips over them since they are just cosmetic. Spvp, i greatly enjoy but it doesn’t feel like its for anything. In 1 you tried to group up and make it through to the end with your team. 2 i think it would be fun to have a server vs server set up like WvW but a score board for servers competing for control. The one big thing that bugs me is WvW. While its very fun, i think its still very unbalanced and needs to be set up how Spvp is that way we don’t have 2 shotting thieves or a warrior hitting 18k with kill shot.

The main thing i do not like, which i understand will probably not go away, is the armor set up in the game. I feel like if everything was toned down and the difference between power and condition builds was much more narrow, it would greatly increase the game play for all.

Once again, i am not trying to complain or cry or anything, i just wanted to put in my opinion in hopes we may get some constructive discussion from this or others input.

i am an engineer, i just find this completely unbalanced that a class can 3-4 shot someone with a tanky build. i am in all rabid,carrion and dire gear.

I have an armor rating of 2682, and i am getting critically hit by thieves up to 12k? What gives?? I am stacking toughness to defend against this crap and still am getting dropped faster than i can even counter it. Unless i am doing something wrong, i am getting close to uninstalling this game. I dont mean to rage or anything but there appears to be a serious WvW balance issue. The average hit from them is around 4k but still with how fast they strike it kills me 4-kittens.

Id like to see a few new things…

1. Crossbows for engineers.
2. a way for classes to lock in on one weapon set, i hate this switching stuff.
3. guild halls.
4. Guild Wars 1 content, like killing bosses for elites and unidentified items.
5. More balance, right now warriors seem to be way above everyone still.
6. A rework on confusion, the mesmer class doesnt seem to have its GW1 touch.
7. Gear stats that make more sense, they should actually show the armor resistance.
8. Armor resist for control abilities.
9. Guild Wars 1 achievements system, i want to show off my achievements.
10. More lore in general
11. underworld
12. maybe class armor sets

look for buffs or evading, although mantras can make that difficult. Also look for the one who takes the least damage.

Do you find it worth it to play a interrupt mesmer with perplexity runes?? Reason i ask is i want to be a lockdown mesmer, i see the perplexity runes have 10 second confusion which makes me believe it would stack well with the lockdown effect to add extra damage with a rampager set wielding a scepter/pistol?

Are there any true ranged lockout builds?? i loved my mesmer in gw1 for the reason i coulds shutdown players and i enjoyed that playstyle. In 2 i havent seen much lockdown abilities which bothers me. Are there any builds that work well for this?? I do noice mesmer gets some interrupts and some dazes… but the cooldowns on them seem like it makes them a waste to use.
