Ways to acquire skins after the patch?

I was wondering how will we be able to acquire skins from pvp after the patch? I know there will be tracks where you unlock dungeon skins and some extra “pvp only” skins, but what will happen to “rank” skins that we can acquire right now?

Right now we can get rank skins by buying rank chests with glory or crafting them, but with the patch all crafting mats will be removed and all glory/vendors will be removed. How will we get all the skins that are available to certain ranks, like cultural armor? I believe right now T1 cultural is available for rank 60+, T2 70+ and T3 80 (from chests or crafting). Will the only way to get cultural armor be from buying them with gold? Same question for other rank armor/weapons.

I still have around 300k glory and not sure what to spend them on. I was thinking maybe getting a T3 cultural set, but not sure if it’s worth it if we’ll be able to get cultural armor some other way than spending gold on it.

Anet is at fault for giving us such poor group implementation. Every other mmorpg I played had group leader actually be a leader and be the only one who can kick players out of a group.

All of the situations could have been avoided if group leader (the one who starts the group) would have the kicking powers without voting and not being able to be kicked. Yes, this may be abused in some situations, but the benefits far outweigh the negatives imo.

While I never sold dungeon paths in gw2, I used to sell dungeon boss loot that’s bind on pick-up in another game. It’s a win-win for both the one who does the work and those that buy the loot/dungeon path. It was rare for someone to try and scam me to grab item without paying, but if they tried it never worked because I could easily kick them.

While dueling is something that can be done, it’s not something that’s in the game right now. They might not want to spend resources on making dueling at this time for whatever reason.

My guess what we saw in the stream is just dev switching his character from neutral team to some other team. Different teams are hostile towards each other, that’s why they could fight. The same thing dev did in wvw stream some other time. Also if you watched closely when he pulled out the map, you’ll see that all waypoints were contested just like in wvw for waypoints from other teams.

While this same technique might be possible to implement for dueling, it’s probably more complicated then you think.

Personally I like to have option of dueling, either right click > duel, or like in certain game I used to play have “pvp capes”. I prefer pvp capes type of dueling then just 1v1 dueling option. For example, when you put on a red cape you are part of “team red” and can attack any people who are wearing pvp capes except people with red cape. Of course there was also free-for-all cape that allowed you to attack everyone with any kind of cape. With this method you can easily make 1v1/1v2/2v2/3v3 etc. or 10 free-for-all duels anywhere where you want, except cities.

Suggestion for change to Spectral Walk

I run spectral walk in wvw all the time, it saved me more times then I can count even from zergs. Traited it has 48 sec cd and 13 sec duration if I’m not mistaken. It can be used to escape. If you see that the fight is not in your favor pop spectral walk and run in one direction, use your defensive skills to slow or fear people who are chasing you, also I like to use death shroud 2 on mobs to get that “leap”. If people continue to chase you pop spectral walk when it has 1 sec left, turn your camera 180% and continue running.

There’s been quite a few times when I suddenly got attacked by 10+ people and I came out alive because I was able to survive for ~10-12 seconds running/dodging/using full deathshroud, marks and spectal wall and then returning to my original location and running in opposite direction.

I like that they added “living story” achievements for the league. Finished every one of them including merc camps. I’m not really playing for rewards, but rather for achievements and fun. Getting few greens and a single rare made me chuckle though. Oh anet, why you trolling us.

Dragons tooth and siege

So basically what you are saying is that the only “right” siege placement is 900+ units away from nearest wall/gate?
I haven’t encountered scepter eles who are abusing this bug in like 3-4 months, so this was a nice refresher. I actually thought they fixed it and that’s why I didn’t see this in a long time, but nope bug/feature still exists. I hope more eles abuse it so that anet may actually look into this and fix it.

Dragons tooth and siege

How is this still not fixed? After running into ele who destroyed my AC on top of thick keep gate with dragon tooth that even firestorm coud not reach I ran to next tower and placed AC inside the tower. After zerg capped that keep they went for next tower where I was waiting on AC. Didn’t matter that AC was inside the tower, that ele still was able to kill it…

Actually less then 6 ppl. At one point I’ve been on a turret and was spamming #2 on a dragon every time cd was up, only 1 stack is removed. Stacks were going up faster then I could clear them with 12 sec cd on skill #2.

For easy dodge jump, go to your Options > Control Options > In Movement section 3rd column (alternative binding) bind Jump to 1 (NUM) and Dodge to 2 (NUM). Now you can do 100% dodge jump when you press 1 and 2 num keys at the same time. No macros needed

I created my main as soon as servers were up during headstart. Still no birthday present..

Check your alts. I too was waiting for mail for few hours on my main and didn’t get any. Then decided to check my alts and and 4 of them got presents. Something fishy here.

I made 5 chars on headstart and 4 of them got the presents. Odd thing is that my first created char didn’t get a present.

The most I did was 34 kills on T4 solo, got 3 bags. Tried to duo it with another zerk warrior and we killed 27 mobs. It appears that with every additional person in a group mobs hp raises by 100%. I would think it is most likely impossible to kill 50 mobs on T4 with how scaling works. I also did T2 solo and killed 66 mobs. Not sure what is better to farm T2 for 4 bags, or T4 for 3 bags.

Anyone actually got aetherized weapon skins from those loot bags?

It’s amusing how many people vote because they want to see some lore in one of the fractals. As far as I know there’s no lore in any of the previous fractals. I bet it will be the same for this one too. Even if there will be a cutscene with some npcs talking you’ll watch it once, then skip it everytime after that. Hardly worth voting for some cutscene (if there will be one at all). None of the fractals have cutscenes as of now…

More practical vote is for waypoint cost reduction vs black lion key cost reduction for 4 weeks. My vote is for cheaper waypoints as I don’t buy keys.

Gliding! I wish. I miss gliding from Aion so much. I don’t know how it would work in GW2 though as we don’t have wings. I was so used to gliding in Aion that sometimes in real life I wanted to leap from high grounds and glide and then realizing I don’t have wings made me sad :S

I know for a fact that after match ends your daily objectives still count after the end (capture or kill). I am wondering if we still get glory and rank points for doing stuff after the match ends. I can never remember to check my rank bar to see if I get anything for capping or finishing someone after match end.

I agree something has to be done, though.

I don’t know what you mean by “hotjoin idiocy”, but I doubt new players will know how better or worse tpvp then spvp is, if they don’t have access to tpvp in the first place. Having a rank limit will give people goal of reaching that rank so they can do tpvp. It doesn’t mean they will quit if something is not available to them from the start.

I played League of Legends (before gw2 came out) and non-ranked matches never deterred me from reaching max level so I could do ranked matches. And I bet lots of people thought the same as me, seeing as there a lot of max level people who played the game. It’s not just about one particular game. In Aion my goal was to get max level and best pvp gear, best enchantments so I could have the most advantage I could in pvp. Having a goal and working towards that goal is what makes me want to play a game. A game with no goal can be fun for a while, but it gets boring really fast. Well, I’m just rambling now. My point was that having a rank limit is a goal that people will work towards if it’s not too painful that is (cough Legendary cough). I highly doubt people will quit over some “hotjoin idiocy” if they really want to tpvp.

It’s not right to place people who just started playing spvp with people who have been playing for a long time just to be crushed. I would think that it would be a big turn off for new players as well. Anet acknowledges this, but their “fix” is flawed, imo.

I think there should be a rank limit when you can queue for ranked tournaments. 10? 15? 20? I don’t know. but this is how it’s done in most of the games. You need to level up first to max level before you can pvp with/versus max level people. In GW2 there are no requirements, random Joe from the street can fight Muhammad Ali for the title just because matchmaking couldn’t find anyone else for him to fight.

There’s too many daily options out there right now. Having a lot of options is nice, but rewarding every option means we have to do every or most of the options to get rewarded as much as possible.

I wish they’d limit the amount of achievement points you can get per day. Like maybe 5-6 from both pve and pvp achievements combined. It gets boring doing all of the dailies just because if you don’t do them you’ll miss out on achiv points that you’ll never be able to get.

We’ll still log on every day to not miss daily AP, but we won’t have to spend so much time on them and do things we like to do. Some days I don’t want to do any pve, I just want to pvp, or the other way around, but then I’ll miss AP if I don’t do both.

I ran this dungeon few times with lvl 2 characters which obviously didn’t have any stability/stun breakers and did fine. Just don’t position yourself between boss and a mine and dungeon is easy as pie.

I had 6/7 upgrades, then I bought slingshot and I still have 6/7 upgrades… Looks like slingshot doesn’t count as upgrade or something.

After seeing this thread I went to karka land (first time since that karka event) to try this out. Killed 2 vets and they dropped absolutely nothing. I was wearing my full MF gear with food too (150% MF). Maybe Anet already nerfed it? lol

Just found out about this achievement. Tried 3 times and didn’t get achievement.
1st time: just followed the picture and did it out of order (noted every book in notepad so I don’t miss any).
2nd time: read every book in order from 1 to 20, still no achievement
3rd time: I knew where every books location was by now, had map on second monitor for reference and did a speed run with quite efficient route to read all 20 books as fast as possible out of order (thought maybe “speed reader” is about reading books as fast as possible) and still no achievement!!!

Wintersday JP rewards are daily. Been doing it every day and got 5 gulps, 1 jug, and 1 flask of karma + some random booster each time.
