I don’t understand this at all. So you have to join a game as a regular player, you don’t get automatically put into a mode where you just choose your team (like say TF2), you just get tossed on a team like normal which wastes space especially if there are multiple people coming in trying to spectate a popular match and may even cause multiple people to take up space that another person is trying to access which is bad for premade teams and shout casting. There is no password to join a team but allow spectator option, which would put other players automatically in spectate mode. Not only that but there is no button to click which would also put you in spectator mode. So seriously, is ArenaNet in THAT much of a rush to save sPvP that they release a spectator mode that seems half done and is intrusive? Hell, I clicked the eye beside the match names because I thought they would automatically put me in spectator mode. Instead I found out I have to actually interrupt a match going on in order to spectate, and someone also told me something that I have not been able to test, that I must wait for a match to END before I can spectate?

Hmmm, something I have noticed.

Flame and Frost feels more old school to me. You actually have to walk around and talk to people. And yeah, I don’t think it’s brilliant content. It’s filler content while the bigger stuff gets worked on.

But it’s fine. The two new instances are fun, you can run them once a day, get some extra karma, and just have fun with it.

Not sure I see the problem here, unless people were expecting totally awesome events for free on a monthly basis.

I remember Rift. Every month they’d come out with a new event that had new currency, that you could cash in for nonsense. Every month. One event would hang around until the next event came out. Some of it was okay. Most of it was annoying as hell. It was just another form of daily. By the end of the month you couldn’t wait for it to go away…and then they’d replace it with the next one.

Eventually Rift has some time to add new content and they did. The same will happen with Guild Wars 2. Until then, what we get is filler content.

To expect more from a monthly upgrade is probably unreasonable.

Considering that ANet has said that they are forgoing any current plans for an expansion in favor of the living story idea, I think it makes sense for them to put the same effort into the living story as they would an expansion. If they think it is a better investment to do that for free rather than working on a paid expansion, that is their problem.

Considering this game’s a complete disaster in terms of sales and player retention the expansion more than likely was canceled due to lack of funds.

I have seen quite a number of JQ players exploiting towers by wall jumping but you don’t see me crying about it because it is what it is.

The fact is, PRX was more of a factor than JQ gave them credit for and you guys burned out. You don’t lose a 24k lead all to one troll siege building all day.

You pushed as hard as you can and BG pushed harder, nothing more, nothing less.

Seriously, we had numerous reports 2 weeks ago of members from PRX on JQ, using a mesmer exploit to go into keeps and drop portals for people to go in. That is why over night JQ magically took the numerous keeps we had in about 30 min. Did anyone else hear the crickets from JQ’s side? No attempt to find out who was doing it, no mentioning of it in later posts, and just overall ignorance about the people doing it from your own server. Blackgate gets 1 troll, and JQ starts going nuts with accusations and overall disrespect, while Blackgate actually had the nerve to (gasp!) find the people that were doing it and get them kicked from their guild and report them! Bravo! Our first win would have been 2 weeks ago, and this win is not a tainted win because at least we found the person causing the issue, JQ didn’t.’

On another note, how can 1 keep cause an entire map to go blue? Can someone explain this to me? I see people saying there is only a few people doing this. How is this stopping people again?

You can ninja all the keeps and win if the people trying to take them back actually have to destroy the door first. Keep in mind what they were doing only took a few mins to do.

For those wondering how BG went from having many keeps to barely any last night, and for those under the impression JQ won by simply pulling everything together, let me explain what happened.

Last night around the time the night shift was coming on, there was a report of PRX (From JQ) exploiting in order to take a keep. It was reported on page 24-26. A Mesmer in this guild would get downed, use a skill, and get ported into the keep, they would then drop an exit to their portal and allow the zerg to rush in and take the keep. This was reported numerous times on many different keeps. That is how we went from several keeps to barely any in such a small amount of time. Obviously SoR was going to be saved for last because they were obviously not going to win. This apparently continued until the guild member left. JQ apparently succeeded in sweeping this under the rug because not only was it barely mentioned, but JQ didn’t even bother to find out who the person doing the exploit was. We couldn’t because we were getting zerged down after each exploit. JQ did not win fairly and anyone on last night knows this. This is where the 2v1 accusations are coming from, but that wasn’t the case. It was someone from PRX (I believe) exploiting into keeps last night. The report about it is on Page 24-26, in that range, along with JQ ignoring it for the most part. Congrats guys on trashing the good name of JQ again. But if you honestly believe that the JQ coverage jumped for no reason at all on a THURSDAY then by all means think that. But it goes against every battle everyone has ever faced in WvW.

I myself am simply a solo SoR thief, and was minding my own business between east supply and Hills. I make my way down the back valley towards Hills where i saw a JQ zerg all stacked up under the Vista of the BG owned Keep.

I thought, oh cool im gonna watch this, so stayed back watching and saw the commander was in PRX, and then saw a mesmer jump from above to teleport them in, i didnt catch the mesmer’s tag. I looked up and saw a bunch of BG at the top where the mesmer jumped from, it was the guild HB. The Mesmer died on his fall, which was funny.

The HB crew then went from sight, maybe to engage the JQ below, and the PRX zerg rezzed up the fallen Mesmer. The mesmer then jumps UP the cliff to the Vista and ports the whole PRX zerg up to the top. If i knew what they were doing i would have turned Fraps on.
Very bad PRX, very bad.

Then, about 20 minutes later im walking past hills again and see that its open, so i pop inside for a look around and see FOO outside the Lords room. This was pretty fun to watch until i saw exactly what they were doing. They had an arrow cart to the left of the lord room, and when i say left i dont mean just to the left so he can still view the doorway, i mean way left towards the supply hut. The guy is standing there firing his arrow cart INTO the lord room, obviously killing all the seige that was inside before they rolled in and killed HB.

So, if you win this game JQ, i would like to say grats but unfortunately i can’t as i now do not know exactly how many of those points you have cheated your way to.

Tons of reports of JQ exploiting near the final stretch. Seriously guys? This is Ironic, considering when BG first made it to T1 you guys were saying our entire server was orb hacking.

BG is used to this when we were first in T1 with SBI and JQQ. But this time instead of them doing a legit 2v1 for 2 weeks straight, they are just bickering with each other. As far as I see BG couldn’t give several kittens at this point.

You would think Blackgate would care about their own server and go and clear out the JP so we could collect siege instead of TC having hundreds of siege for the next battle. Oh well, guess BG isn’t 100% dominating.

Rangers still become fodder. I gave up on being a Ranger in PvP awhile back. ANet doesn’t take pvp seriously at all it seems, and just tosses buffs and nerfs everywhere and hopes something good happens.

“We didn’t have the numbers. We were doing fractals.”

That pretty much sums up what has been going on for the past 4 months for Tier 1 WvW. All sides making excuses. The only difference is SoS backs up their claims.

At least now we have a server that knows how Blackgate feels. It got so bad with all accusations of hacking 24/7 that JQ and SBI legitimately 2v1’d us for 2-3 weeks straight. We even had screenshots of the map being 50% divided between SBI and JQ 90% of the time with our borderlands and EB being divided 50% and theirs owned by their respective servers. Hell there was even a forum post on gw2guru asking for an alliance to push BG down to tier 2. Of course to this day they won’t admit it. But we actually told our server to back down the last week because we were tired of it. We left everything untouched the last 2 weeks so we could drop ourselves and we even told SBI and JQ about this. I know for a fact there is one commander that gets on here from SBI that is very childish and constantly trash talks but you probably already know her.

Considering the original post was in the Rangers section of the forums. I have a right to speak on being lied to by Jon. Where he promised in the last Halloween patch that there would be major changes to the Ranger class. This patch comes, we pretty much get nothing that was a major problem fixed.

BG has no reason to 2v1. What would we gain? We want T1 again, SoR is not required for that.

If you even read the forums during BG’s first week, then you would see why many of BG’s wvw guilds transferred off, leaving what, that’s right, a ghost town of a server. And if the guilds didn’t transfer off, they merely stopped playing to drop to tier 2 (hence why they’re holding their ground there) because of all the whine.

Sorry but majority of players like to pride in their server. If your server was being accused of hacking and everyone would just dismiss the win based on that, than what’s the point of trying?

At the beginning of our T1 battle we were accused of exploiting, hacking, cheating, ect, ect, ect. BG ignored it because it was nothing but a bunch of sore losers on the other servers at the time. At the end of week one we noticed some forum threads popping up on some fansites offering an alliance with JQ to push BG to T2. We thought nothing of it. We barely even visited the forums, and those who did were usually trolling SBI and JQ causing more drama. Until week 2 started, and multiple reports of 2v1 scenarios were reported. Again, we thought nothing of it until it continued for 3 days straight. Then we started reporting it on the forums to which, SBI, and JQ commanders obviously denied it despite the number of screenshots and reports we had.

BG is a close server and we can call people into WvW when we wanted to. This time however at the end of Week 2, many guilds and commanders ordered the players to stand down and drop from T1 during week 3, we no longer wanted to be apart of the drama ridden T1 grouping at the time until SBI or JQ was knocked from T1, which we are patently waiting for. Not many guilds transferred off to my knowledge, but those so called bandwagoners took their place in SBI’s rankings.

Sadly this is what happens when a group of childish commanders on other servers enter the forums and spread rumors that apparently everyone on a single server is hacking. But I hope SoS kicks someone out of T1 so we can have a good fight and see who truly is the best.

SoS has become stacked beyond belief. SBI and SoS are the same level IMO; but who knows maybe next week SBI will pound SoS. If SBI is gonna run the event as an excuse/dungeon as an excuse… if they don’t show up next week; I guess its time to usher in a new champion.

Trust me, everyone on BG is cheering SoS on, even if they are stacked, at least they are more respectable.

Adding the time zone may have helped, but it would be the same. A chunk would still miss the event.

I was confused as to why this was not added to the survey. Like many have said. We did not have problems with the one time event being a one time event. We had problems because people were being rewarded some of the hardest to receive items in the game. Some people even received these multiple times. While others who had to work or did not live in the sweet spot time zones missed out and didn’t even get a chance. This was an important question which may result in misleading results, as some may say they don’t like one time events at all because of this.

According to what I am reading and the reports I have been shown. It is not a small amount that received precursors.

If only guesting was implemented, other servers could have different server times then the events could start at different times for people who haven’t done the event. I missed phase 2 because I didn’t want to play a buggy mess. Played Phase 1 and lagged horribly. Now this.

I played this afternoon for about an hour helping to plant bombs. Unfortunately I had to go to work an hour after the event started and was only able to do that part. While I am at work I read the forums and look at reddit to find out Precursors are being handed out like candy. I am thinking, “Wait, many people can’t attend the event. This is the second event and the second time I have been soured by these events. It was released with a ton of bugs. Why? I don’t know. I am a Ranger, I received nothing as far as class improvements. Then wasn’t even given a single chance to do the one time event I was hoping to come home and do. I was barely able to do one event this weekend. One! I got nothing out of this event. Not a bit of fun at all. The Halloween event I was fooled into spending a ton of money on BLC’s because of the lack of the words “Extremely Rare” in their ad. Now this. What happened? There are people walking out of this with absolutely nothing memorable, nothing good. Why?

“Ranger. #2 Thunderclap is an AoE Daze on a short 10 sec cooldown. This interrupts a whole group trying to stomp on the shortest cooldown of all #2 downed skills. This is insanely powerful in group play, if even just one ally causes delay for the enemy. It is powerful without help. It is just plain powerful (Stability is the only counter, as usual). Combine that with #3 Lick Wounds which revives the Ranger and you have one of the strongest downed skill sets in game. Balance.”

You have obviously never played a Ranger as I have never rallied in PvP due to 2 and 3. You use 2, they are stunned for 1 second and then you still don’t even have lick wounds available yet. Your pet is usually dead by this time anyway. So you saying that we have the strongest downed skill in the game is based off pure ignorance or lack of any skill what so ever. I have never once rallied in PvP by myself. If we want to get more time we have to choose a wolf and a dazing or stunning pet in order to live just a little longer. But they can easily just focus fire on you and you will die anyway. Completely pointless. Please go play a Ranger before claiming it has the best downed skills in the game.

BG mainly just wants to wait until JQ or SBI is out of T1 that way we won’t get 2v1’d again and we can have, you know, and actual fun match. If we push really hard here JQ will get bumped, and we can actually have a real T1 match.

I just had the same thing happen again. The warrior just laid there taking my hits waiting for me to blow my cooldowns to try and finish him. Gets up, use my wolf, nothing. I die he runs off.

Indeed. If they don’t fix the issues in the next patch I will be finished with spvp. I am a Ranger, I can get downed by any other class easily. Warriors and Theifs 1 shot me. I decide to make a tank build, get downed in 2 seconds instead of 1. I survive but do no damage. I go glass cannon. Can’t compare to the burst and dps of other classes, get downed in a second. So literally what is my point in even trying. I can’t get points for capping or anything if I can’t get my enemys off. Or if I die so fast. I am a pointless class at the moment. So are a few others. EVERYONE plays a Mesmer, Theif, or Warrior because they can destroy most classes in seconds. I guess if this isn’t fixed I will have to reroll for pvp.

Gotta be honest here. I was dreading playing the same matchup a 3rd week in a row. But after seeing BG playing these past few days, giving us hell despite being outmanned and getting their kitten pushed in from two sides… I like them as an opponent; and I’d like a round 3. Hopefully there’s less ‘outmanned’ periods on all sides (even SBI EB has no queue for several hours of the day)

We’ll see how this next matchup goes. Just like with HoD in the top spot: I now see why HoD focused red so much more than blue playing as green. Red is significantly easier to attack than blue, as well as it is significantly easier to defend from blue than it is from red.

AP and MG are significantly easier to capture than QL and AL. Lowlands keep is a threat to SM constantly as well, forcing the SM holder to generally put more focus up north. The constant 2v1’ing is in no way a ‘punishment’ or a ‘pact’; it’s more of the fact that red is a much greater threat than blue… and that’s why SBI focuses north in Eternal Battlegrounds.

In addition, with all the experience SBI has gained from playing as blue… again, it’s easier to push up north than it is to push down south. KG is a freakin’ fortress; and those mortars in lowlands make it nigh unpenetrable when used correctly. So you push north instead…

Red is a tough spot to siege, it requires dedication and a strong will to push into green territory. Probably the advantage given to the top spot in anticipation that spot will be 2v1’d.

tl;dr I’m actually excited to see the same matchup next week!

It seems a majority of BG no longer wants to be Tier 1. If we are going to get falsely accused of hacking every single time out of the gate then get teamed up on because 2 servers formed a grudge against us for no kitten reason. Then we don’t want the top stop. Guilds have been ordered to stay back and let SoS in and we will see what happens. Although it is now hilarious that SBI took all those bandwagoners with them. So there will be no excuses next time. Oh wait. I guess we can get falsely accused of hacking again. But I guess it will be another week of this nonsense.

I play a ranger, and ranger’s down state is one of the better ones right now—you still have access to your pet and all your pet commands. I can recall multiple times where my wolf will knock down the guy trying to stomp me. All the while I’m spamming 1 to stack as much bleed as I can. They come back, F2 fear with wolf, continue spamming 1. They come back again, interrupt them. If they go down now you’ll have a pretty good chance to win—hit 3 and let your pet regen you. Most people forget about it. You will win them by out-regening and with the amount of bleed damage that’s ticking.

I can recall even more times where my wolf just regularly attacked because I have no control over when my wolf pounces. I also read a post earlier where someone said to use the wolfs fear while I am downed. Well I can’t see when it is ready or about be be used. I was spamming F2. But I probably canceled it by accident. Otherwise I have to run around and not use my Wolfs F2 ability at all. I am also pretty sure that the wolf F2 ability has a longer cooldown than your 2 downed ability lol. Btw. REALLY? I am beginning to think you are not a Ranger. I have never ever out healed someone with my 3 ability, by the time I get to use it my pet is either down because of a melee class smacking me and it as well because it is on top of me. Or I do what you did so I can get some time so I can use the 3 ability, but by then I have already blown all my cooldowns. That doesn’t work.

You expect to win every time you’re downed? Yes, my main is a lvl 80 ranger, feel free to pm and party me in game. Stop complaining when you blow your pet’s F2 without thinking/not swapping pets (yes, you can SWAP pets when you’re downed). Your wolf will go into animation if its up. I’ve ran into this situation lots of times now, enough to see that our class’s downed state is balanced.

Btw, use a krytan hound or raven when running around, and put wolf as your secondary. That way when you’re downed, you can instantly F4 and have your fresh wolf right next to you.

First sentence you say something I never said or even hinted at. Thank you, I still want my little bit of DPS I have so I will not rely on one pet when I am speced in Beast Mastery. Now because of that one sentence in the beginning I will now be ignoring you.

If this next update doesn’t address all the issues in PvP then I will be done with it entirely. A lot of people are playing just for PvP and when you have only 3 classes dominating with extreme DPS and Burst while the other 5 are barely being used it all, you know something is wrong and needs to be addressed ASAP. However I am very wary on this. There is a ton of hype about Lost Shores and what seems like barely any talk about bug fixes and class changes. Because right now the classes need an overhaul.

Ranger has an AOE stun with 1~k dmg + they can rez themselves with a pet – in my opinion it is not pointless, it is up there with one of the better ones.

For example necromancer – 1 second fear on 1 target + a poison aoe as a 3 that does not do any dmg (mesmers #3 ability hits for 6k~ on some targets).

Wars down state is almost as weak as necros – if 2 people start finishing you, there is no way to survive, since stun is also a single target. The rally is only good if you are both downed, and no allies nearby at all so after 8 seconds he can walk up and stab you, but in tpvp I have never seen a warrior get to do that – its simply far too easy to finish them.

That 1 second fear can fear people off ledges and cliffs or move them towards another target. That 1 second stun which does only 1k of damage. Something I can heal back with my passive healing in about 2 seconds. You know how many times I have rezed myself with my pet in pvp? Never.

Again the only people defending the 2v1 are the people participating in it lol. You guys just don’t know how to defend yourselves correctly do you? Like I said. Blackgate doesn’t care anymore. We want Tier 2 because Tier 1 does whatever they can to trash talk and bash another server if they “THINK” something is wrong. Even if it means blatantly teaming up. BG doesn’t need this. We will just dominate Tier 2. Maybe help someone get to tier 1 and then team up against SBI since JQ can’t do a kitten thing against us for the most part.

They are suppose to look at all downed state abilities. Some are OP some are Meh.

I know the downed state for the Ranger (like everything else) is virtually pointless. I can stun for 1 second. I can press 3 around the time the finally blow is at my face and even then my pet would only THEN start to heal me. 4 is a joke. 1 does nothing pretty much.

This has happened many times vs many classes. I am a Ranger and of course our downed abilities are trash compared to others. A 1 second stun and no abilities that move us to another spot like most classes, or a push. However the most annoying one is a Warrior. I down the Warrior (by magic). My HP is low he downs me. So usually vs any class I will lose this battle anyway. But at least I might have a chance. However against a warrior if I get downed while he is downed he gets a free rally because of his get up and fight normally ability. He can get up finish me off and then get a free rally. This is such a cheap tactic and one I see many warriors doing. If they down another person while they are downed the best tactic by the person getting attacked is to suicide so the warrior might die. I find this ability cheap in every fashion possible because they are almost guaranteed to rally if their team is near by so he can at least get one hit in and rally. In PvE I also imagine this is extremely cheap since PvE at level 80 as a warrior is probably extremely easy. I thought maybe I could stun him long enough for him to die because of that abilities time limit. However I cannot stun him either. I pressed 2 and nothing happened to him.

It took me a bit to come up with a response to this that wouldn’t result in an infraction.

Your server was the epitome of what you describe, as of last week. Straight map hacks to orbs (before orbs were removed), exploiting the rendering issue for massive constant portal bombs, turtle zergs (its not exactly skillful to clump for overlapping buffs/heals), etc. I understand every server has its share of people you’d rather not associate with due to their questionable methods. I’m sure SBI has it’s bad apples. I haven’t seen any yet, but I’m sure there are a few. With that said, you and your server should be one of the last to attempt to claim the moral high ground.

I don’t believe ANY of the tier 1 servers can hold the moral high ground. While BG had a blatant hacker, that could have come from another server just to make BG look bad. Every server has and still has hackers, they just haven’t been caught yet. Portal bombs are used on all sides so trying to pin that and abusing rendering issues on BG is inane. All the servers benefit exploits, unsavory tactics, and have hackers so there is no high ground there.

After last weeks forum showing your true colors(have you read any of the stuff coming from your servers players? what 5+ threads closed/deleted? And you think BG is bad?) are out there as well. BG got dealt a raw deal by a hacker(s?) and by other servers trying to bring our reputation down with forum campaigns. I guess you guys were successful, but I wouldn’t celebrate for too long because what goes around comes around. All it is going to take 1 hacker and a few forum warriors to mark you as the server who has to hack to win, why do you think people gave up on BG midweek last week? If we win we needed to cheat to win and now because of those forum campaigns BG lost players and morale. But hey if you think smearing a servers name due to the actions a few players is “high morals” then wait until it happens to you.

Indeed the smear campaign started even before our match with SBI and JQ started. Then within 1 hour, our entire server was accused of Orb hacking, and that we all pretty much sucked. Then as the week progressed it went from a few true cases of orb hacking, to numerous false accusations of orb hacking. Be it a bug that had existed for several weeks, or just blatant trolling. Near the end JQ and SBI started their talks about a 2v1 to try and get SoS in tier 1 in the last thread. Oh, and just so you guys know. SBI and JQ were responsible for the 5+ thread closings, not BG. For the most part most of BG that posted on the threads were respectful. Yet SBI and JQ decided to complain about 5 posts by obvious trolls, who may or may not have even been from BG.

Funny thing is, is that we start out in the last thread with “have fun.” Within an hour we are all accused of hacking, mostly false accusations. We defend ourselves, JQ and SBI start flaming in every post. New thread appears with an insult right out of the gate with the OP saying. “Now it is fair.” More flame posts. We start to notice an obvious 2v1 left over from last week. Post screenshots, ect. SBI and JQ now claim THEY are being falsely accused, but of course BG is still the bad guy and SBI and JQ can not be falsely accused of something, but BG can. Also the fact that SBI commanders posting in here have been nothing but rude and childish really says something about who these people rally over. Honestly BG doesn’t need to be tier 1 and we will put out a warning to those coming into tier 1 who have never done so before. “Be prepared for flame wars everywhere, and if you don’t do something SBI and JQ likes, prepare for them to forcefully remove you out of tier 1.” But good job to Blackgate keeping it civil in most of these posts, and not acknowledging the trolls from our own server posting “woo beastgate, get pwned SBI! So easy lawl!”
