Honestly this isn’t my type of game anyways(Darkfall online is my cup of tea[not unholywars]) I was just hoping the game became more sandboxish with more skillful elements. I’ll still log in, but I doubt it will hold my interest. Being in Mmolimbo has left be jaded, cynical and desperate.

Wow so it seems like they made the game even more casual and less skillful and decided to take out any meaningful rewards and goals like free and automatic fort upgrades…

So I might as well just stop the download of the game now? What is Anet thinking?

Hello, I played Gw2 at launch and for around 3-4 months afterwards but the WvW was just zerging and pretty much everything else in the game became dull and lacking in content.

I tried the game again about a year ago or so when fractuals were relatively new, but I heard they were just useless dead features that hardly anyone did.

Has the game gotten any better than follow a train to kill “dynamic quests” “and WvW kill train”?

For instance making WvW fun and making every base capturable by guilds and upgradable so guilds have a reason to defend the base and stick around. WvW should be more tactical and not zerging to the next base.

I use the same skills as you and do quite well as a engy. Hopefully people don’t complain after seeing this video because it takes tons of skill to pull off all this kitten. Not to mention is pretty much one of the only viable builds. Plus classes like the warrior still do more damage.

They need to add a zone where players can construct single player housing areas and guild fortresses each that can be upgraded for rewards and have usefulness instead of a pixel base to look cool in.

Make the whole area pvp and have very good rewards and resources in this zone. However there should be a guild cap of lets say 20 to promote less zerg vs zerg and more player skill. wVw is fun but too zergy and not enough skill in my opinion.

To conclude the area should give benefits that are very useful for guilds or solo players alike and they should have a great amount of rare resources. Think a sandbox game.

I have a nice mask headband thingy, that I want to use and not see million copies of and it was pretty cheap. I really don;’t like the pirate hats and most of the gunslinger gear char engies get.

This is the build I use. http://www.guildhead.com/skill-calc#MMM9VMavwMMavwMxx9MaVkqzsao. I seem to not do that much damage even though I am specced for it(save the rocket turret which I’ll try out). Yeah I do miss sometimes with the grenades but I usually get them with a net before I use them.

After playing the engineer and have a couple sets of gear one condition/toughness/vit and the other power/critical/condition with some crit damage increase. I’ve come to decide what we do is outperformed by everyone else.

Using all dps, I can barely kill anyone, I use my rifle burst to get them close to death then they usually heal up(while I am beating on them) and then proceed to out dps me. Warriors/Mesmers/Rangers kill me really fast, while the thief just obliterates me. This is all while I am using all my blinds, knock backs, condition damage grenades and dodging any big attack I see. I feel like I am putting 2-3x the effort of other classes just to try to beat them.

The toughness/vit/condition build is more a fun way to go with flamethrower and grenades and I tend to use it in wVw, but its just that a gimmick fun build.

I guess the engineer is stuck being support. Or I just suck playing my class, which might be the case, but I’m not too sure.

Not that it’s terribly relevant to this thread, but out of curiosity what build are you using?

Rifle/Grenade build, pretty much the only reliable competitive build.

My wVw sometimes I will use flamethrower/pistol/grenade build.

Why would I even bother switching to my pistol with grenade kit equipped?

Seriously it is just stupidly strong and unlike bomb kit (which you can chain in for burning/blind and swap back or requires melee range) it is basically just “activate and spam grenades”.

Why don’t we take some strength of grenade kit (exspecially the spammable autoattack) and put it on the pistol? It just is braindead easymode for me that overcomes everything else easy. Why did I get me a cool Corrupted Shield and Pistol if I am never going to see them if I dont want to reduce my damage by 50% intentionally?

Because obviously you don’t pvp. One blind utility from grenades is no where enough and you’ll get stomped in pvp. I use pistol with shield for the cc and flamethrower as well for the aoe damage and CC. Its daunting I need to switch between everything, but its the only way I can compete with ez mode classes out there.

I am currently Flamethrower/light pistol for range. 10explosives, 30 firearms, 30 alch. I may take a utility out for bomb kits due to all the CC they have and could be good if I can use it right.

I may take the 10 out of explosives since the flamethrower attack gives burn and 33% chance is nice, but a bit redundant. Perhaps I may switch it into kits giving speed boost under the toolbelt tree.

Right now its hard to play what you want and are pretty much forced to pick and choose to be viable.

Not sure compared to other classes, but the engy feels kitten. I like playing as a flamethrower build with pistol side arm for range fights in WvW. However I feel like I do horrible damage and die too fast although I am only level 51.

I know flamethrower is not meant to be 1v1 but I can hardly damage people in those situations. Any of our kits have a stun or are they just knock back and cripple skills?

Anyways here is my build for 80 I want to do massive damage to massive amounts of people yet have decent survivability to live and heal when need be.

Seems like the engy tries to be a jack of all trades requiring you to swap between everything while having to mass buttons and being penalized for switching to kits/weapons. Even when you do try to specialized you don’t have enough utilities and other classes can do what are trying to do better.

Although I might take the points out inventions and put into kits or alchemy.
