Just happened to me too. lost about 1million karma and got like 10 berries from woomulla.
id enjoy it, if it wasn’t littered with unnecessary traps and a billion chokepoints…
isnt this the guy who asked this same question about d/d ele a few days ago?
GW is already f2p… you buy it once and you’re done.
they fixed the condi clear in stealth. its once again an instant clear + another after 3 seconds. so its actually pretty good again.
necro’s get 2 health bars, why cant other professions get them too? not fair.
Wars get adrenaline that gives them great regen while maxed, why cant other professions get that too? not fair.
guards get a ton of protection boons, blocks and heals, why cant other professions have that too? not fair.
id keep going but im getting bored, and i think i made my point….
merged traits that are UP, sure. making traits baseline? no.
pvp should be balanced every 6 months, at the earliest. (not including bug fixes) the game needs time to settle into a new meta and that takes a long time.
buy a lottery ticket bud
every class has a trait line that they HAVE to take. thieves have to take trickery, maybe they should get the steal cooldown and boon rip/ party buffs from the line as baseline too!
i very much like this list. doubt a dev would even see this tho.
Best solution? Disable thief character creation and save new players the heartache of never excelling as a master of the shadows.
Then give the remaining thief players 50 gold if they delete their thief character(s) and only then will the thief haters leave us alone
Haters gonna hate. You could make Thief completely stealth-less … folk’d still cry about something.
like s/d acrobatics theives….
Thief just got balanced to state of other classes. D/p thief was superior overpowered in 1v1 vs anything. Its fine now.
what he means by this, is that every class can now decimate a thief 1v1. unless the player playing said other class is half kittened.

I would say make Flanking Strike and all other evade skills basically a dodge roll in that it forces the game to cancel all other animations and prioritize Flanking Strike. I can’t count how many times I’ve been auto attacking, anticipate an incoming stun, hit flanking strike only for it to delay because of auto attack animation and me thus getting my kitten handed to me. It’s pretty bad. Also happens with Withdraw and Roll for Initiative which is really dumb considering these are skills we should be able to time properly to be rewarded. Well, how can you time them when your auto attack makes you have to wait like half a second for it to cast? Ridiculous.
the only problem with this would the possibility of cancelling recovery frames to attack slightly faster, kind of like the lightning whip, weapon stow thing, only much much less abuseable. the solution would just be to make startup frames cancelable and recovery frames non-cancelable. either way this would be a huge quality of life change (this would probably go for ranger sword aa’s too).
that doesnt mean there’s build diversity. it just means you have the option of playing a worse build for no reason.
One of those builds is MUCH better than the other.
staff is what YOU wanted.
Shadow Arts thief is also underrated in the OP, its basically unkillable now and still does a ton of damage, it’s just being outshone by Mes/Ele
shadow arts was nerfed in the last patch, and the only heal worth taking got 3 seconds more cooldown added to it. how are they all of a sudden unkillable?
while i kittening hate d/d ele’s with a passion, i agree with most everything you said.
makes a post about how to lessen thief complaints
complains about thieves….
this is definitely the most important thief change that needs to be made. +1!
invuln’s and auto proc’s are cheap defensive tool’s promoting passive gameplay with no risk and no counterplay.
I think this should be fixed and it’s simple to do:
Delete auto proc’s from the game, and make invulnerable’s strippable. that way warriors, rangers, guardians, necro’s, and engineers (did i miss any?) wont be allowed to sit comfortably on points waiting for cooldowns in the middle of a fight, instead he/she would have to carefully watch for oppenings and dodge correctly, rewarding good positioning and smart moves.I can kittenpost and act like a complete scrub too.
Wait Necros got active defense? oh boy i must have missed that one patchnote where we got invuln, sweet! Man i can’t wait to try it out. cyu in pvp, scrubs.
my bad, my brain equated those auto fear runes with necro. you do have a second 20k life bar with monster crits and aoe tho :| (also i think you meant passive defense.)
optionselect enganged – the necro thing was partially what made my post a doodoopost
I don’t agree when people say D/P is anywhere near “cheese” or boring.
Wrong.
D/p is cheese and strong thats why so many people runs d/p,
try to play d/d or s/d against d/p player u will get shrekt so hard thats because d/p is currently got every single advantages + more burst after the patch and its more easy low risk high reward.
lower risk* medium reward*
being the only weaponset worth using doesnt make it cheese, it makes it our only real viable weaponset. play what you want, but dont call a superior build cheese just because it’s better. at this point the entire thief kitten nal is high risk low reward compared to what other classes have. take any advantage you can and stop being a low tier hero, or at least dont whine about it when you lose.
a gabriell, the only class that could rock your mesmer post patch (and literally the only class we could rock, the rest of the matchups felt pretty balanced, aside from kitten engies and medi guards…) is now nerfed and you’re just reveling in the aftermath eh. have fun being able to destroy literally every class 1v1 for a few months bud.
My feedback:
2) Give us Last Refuge and Instinctual Response back, preferably in place of the new cc/immob reduction traits. These two traits were huge boons to survivability that are sorely missed.
good god, please no. last refuge got me killed me often than it saved me… last refuge with porting you off in a random direction (hopefully not off a cliff) would IMO be much better than blinding powder, insta reveal off an already q’d up auto attack.
no doubt Dhawk. i dusted off my guard for some spvp yesterday after being frustrated with my thief. even without really knowing wtf i was doing initially, my guard was performing as well as my d/p thief, and by the end of the day it wasnt even a comparison…
the biggest thing I’ve been noticing is that like 90% of the tieves are still running full zerker gear, guys stats aren’t part of the traitlines anymore, your health is only 12k full zerk, how many times do you need to be one hitted to finally realize that full zerk, at least for DD and DP is dead.
Thief takes so much more skill post patch than almost any other class (imho). think outside of the box, don’t soully listen to the meta and come up with your own builds, as i have. I run a DD thief with 2,85k power, 21,5k hp and 250% crit damage, i can now withstand the damage in a 1v4 and even come out successfully most of the time with about 60% health left. I learned to work around all the nerfs, I’m not saying thief is op, i think he’s the weakest class atm. but using your traits, build effectivly and practicing on your skill will keep us alive. the only thing I really miss as DD is the old SE but mostly the old CiS, how the hell could they make that a GM, Anet pls…
i speaking strictly in spvp terms, my bad. ive been running marauder’s amulet there so i dont insta die. havent really gotten around to changing my wvw gear, that’s still all zerker.
dont compare gw1 pvp with gw2. the only similarities between the two games is the lore and name. gw1 played like a fantastic moba with 8 skills and 8 teamates. gw2 plays like an arpg with team elements.
I think it should apply Resistance instead of functioning as it currently does. It adds counterplay, interacts with boon duration, and also makes Warriors immune to currently present conditions on their bar. It’s win-win-win across the board.
Counterplay?
Now you succeed in convincing me that you do not play Warrior in PvP.
no one plays the classes they kitten about. they just complain incessantly.
invuln’s and auto proc’s are cheap defensive tool’s promoting passive gameplay with no risk and no counterplay.
I think this should be fixed and it’s simple to do:

lol i remember that oulov. i got r6 by running iway, #scrublife.
No counterplay to berserkers stance —-> Physical damage.
berserker’s stance is perfectly fine. Rampage is the problem.
I think the opposite, Rampage is actually somewhat useful now. It’s zerker stance that makes it unstoppable.
I’m not sure why everyone gets resistance but warrior is an exception to the rule.
Because after Adrenaline changes, Warrior has no viable Condition removal and Berserker Stance fills that gap which temporarily gives immunity to all conditions.
Comparing it other classes, Warrior is the most vulnerable to damage conditions.
hi! thieves condition removal would like a word.
#scrubquotes
for shame, people can come from pve and still feel like their contributing (even though if they’re kitten they’re not.), thus increasing the pvp playerbase. If you’re losing to these so called pve players who are good now because of a damage increase, i think you’re the problem.
upping our vitality is just a bandaid, we should be asking for more viable condi removal solutions, ones that dont completely ruin our damage by traiting for it. as well as the 10% heal buff to withdraw we were promised. 17k vitality doesnt really matter if were only healing for 4.5k every 18seconds and getting overloaded with conditions…
what? a 2 year old necro’d thread isnt good enough for you????
how about no? forcing a 2v1 through some bullkitten mechanic is nonsense.
Personally I think they are going in the wrong direction with damage altogether. Every pro fight that ended with a first round knockout was a disappointment to everyone that ever bought a ticket to those events.
Hello, Mike Tyson would like to have a word with you.
an option to select which character you want to play upon queue pop would be amazing. literally just a list that pops up with a check box next to your character names is all that would need to happen.
i would have liked hammer, if all the ranged attacks worth using didnt have 1.5+ seconds of start up… i gave them a solid day of play in wvw, and while the ventari heals are nice, and the perma stab is cool, i still didnt feel like i was bringing much to the team. my necro is far more helpful to a zerg at this point.
2v2 and 3v3 modes sounds asinine…. 3 mesmers vs 3 mesmers yay!
i very much like stronghold, its reminiscent of gw1’s gvg set up.
no doubt Dhawk. i dusted off my guard for some spvp yesterday after being frustrated with my thief. even without really knowing wtf i was doing initially, my guard was performing as well as my d/p thief, and by the end of the day it wasnt even a comparison…
Thief will continue to be valuable due to our high mobility and ability to disengage.
this would be true, if mesmers didnt exist.
Wtf is this tjeezy guy on about. OP obviously had d/p equipped so he could stealth with BP and leap FYI till opponent’s Sr was over. Do you even thief?
OP had kitten utilities and a kitten reaction time with no clue on how thief works mechanically so he only has himself to blame for being instagibbed. You must be one of those people who need to l2p instead of crying op.
BAHAHA This thread is full of the eliteist of the elite! Less than a half a second of reaction time to someone you cant see and is behind you. Man i have to team up with you guys…
BTW yes i theifed from beta so nice try. Dear Lord. I love how people say “oh yeah I’ve would have done this”. Monday quarterback for sure!
half a second of reaction time? my first thought as soon as i saw the first damage number popup was “wtf is OP just standing there for?” you had like 3 seconds to do something, you been playing with nightmare runes for too long or something??
in sPvP with Marauders in a d/d glassy signet build I can hit for about 8-10K on a backstab. Between the Mug, CnD , HS, fire/air procs, and between 5-10 stacks of might from signet use it usually ends the fight right there.
But that’s about all I can do. Shadowstep to run away if they recover or put on SoS, Endure Pain, desperate decoy activation, etc.
I am what Anet made me.
i tried d/d instaburst for a few games too. all that happened is i would jump in with cnd/bs combo. the person i was jumping’s passive auto invul/fear etc. went off. they turn and burst me right back, almost killing me if i had a utility off cooldown, outright killing me if they werent…
JESUS! i know necros got buffed but the ability to resurrect 2 year old threads is insane!
I vote no.
The HoM was designed to reward players for time spent playing GW1. Greatly reducing the difficutly of the achievements needed to get HoM points only cheapens the reward.
Time spent pveing*
i played gw1 from release up until about 5 months after eotn release. just 90% of it was pvp, gvg/HA players got pretty shafted
the fact is stealth and theives in general are OP verse specific classes, and garbage vs others. this is a game of RPS, nothing beats everything, everything has a weakness. until a class absolutely kitten’s on every class imaginable (like very early game D/D theives) its not OP
There are alot of counters against stealth… l2p…
Couldn’t help but notice you didn’t mention any of them.
Sic em, whatever the engie “sic em” is called, interrupting d/p HS in BP, pbaoe after they stealth, immoblizations, running in the opposite direction so they’re forced to use a shadowstep. block/aegis and dodgeing after you see aegis strip. there are likely more that im forgetting, be creative.
Dont complain about having to slot a skill specifically to counter a theif, we’ve had to slot daggerstorm ever since the RF buff just to have a chance of not dying immediatly to rangers.
Now that I play a thief, I can honestly say that those don’t work worth a kitten .
Sic’em? Can’t stop me from entering stealth. In fact, going into stealth will cancel the effect of the shout. Interrupts? That’s the beauty of the initiative system. Spam-ability. Interrupting is a temporary draw back. Blinding Powder also works no matter what state I’m in. I also hope that interrupt is a ranged one. Black powder will blind you and your attempt to interrupt my HS will miss. However, being D/P, I will probably be on you so even if you are ranged, my BP will still blind you and your ranged interrupt will still miss.
If you depend on DS to counter RF you are doing something wrong. Although I have an advantage here. I run dagger/pistol so Head Shot = RF canceled. Also don’t stealth on an RF. Dodge (twice if you have to) and then stealth. By the time you come back out your endurance should be good for one more dodge. Assuming you even need to the moment you come out.
sic em works for 4 seconds at least. it puts revealed on you, it has to work. also as far as i can tell the steal daze still works in BP as long as you time it between pulses.
you also must be better than the majority of theives running b/p, everytime ive interrupted one attempting the bp/hs they panic and die.
DS is mainly used vs a ranger RFing if i didnt notice they were there before the engagement, and for watching bad rangers kill themselves hilariously.
i guess i also should have mentioned the directest of counters to any theif. friggin mediguards.
this entire thread is ridiculous. either wait for them to wipe and port back to spawn, or run across the map and keep your eyes open. if you run directly into a zerg thats kind of your fault for not seeing them.
this is a “solution” to a problem that doesnt exist and in fact creates entirely new problems.
