Well the necromancer abilities you are referring to that are going through your block are meant to do so. At least if they are specced into marks. They become larger and unblockable as it says in the traits tooltip… duh.

They didn’t claim to have no tools. You claimed they are practically invulnerable with your rubbish idea of a rotation for combat, of which is highly unrealistic. PvP is not a PvE fight, you don’t stand still and have the same auto attacks thrown at you. You are also the one claiming you beat a warrior first try, that you claim is good… Of what standard is he good? What spec was he? What weapons was he using? Stating, “I used Mesmer and beat some seemingly random warrior, so X skill is OP.” Proves nothing and only makes your argument weaker.

There are far stronger things you can do after getting a magic bullet to land other than just scepter 3. Try magic bullet-> lol moa and remove them from the fight for 10s+… or blurred frenzy + shatter for far more damage… I could go on and on…

In essence though… you’re saying that you need them to be stunned in order to get it off. This is in no way showing that it’s a good weapon vs getting something bad to work. I’m glad you didn’t disagree with #1 & 2 being horrid though.

Glad your reading comprehension skills are top notch… Please do tell what ranged attacks a mesmer has that beat scepter #3 in damage. Saying Moa has nothing to do with this argument, it is usable by everyone no matter what weapons you have out. Oh and no thanks, I will not use an ability as unbalanced and cheap as it.

Back to the point of your reading comprehension skills. I believe I stated that the #2 block I do use. At no point did I say it was horrid or even imply it for that matter. I have no problem with #1 either, I think the clone summoning bonus is more than enough. Last I checked there are plenty of weapons that needs a stun/root to actually make use of their main attacks. 100 blades comes to mind, Blurred Frenzy… pretty much any of them that root the caster.

In the end it is pointless to argue with you, because you want to pick and choose which part of my statements you reply to, instead of the statements as a whole. Did the part where I said I use sword/sword and scepter/pistol ever pop into your head at some point? If it did, did you not realize having sword/pistol and sword/sword would be utterly pointless? Or are you just implying that I must use GS or Staff? Please take your childish debate skills elsewhere, where they may actually make sense to someone.

Okay you guys seem to be having a problem understanding or maybe it’s just my build that finds the scepter just fine…

I run a scepter/pistol – sword/sword build. That is why I don’t use sword over scepter since I’m already using it.

Skill #3 may have a fairly obvious wind-up animation, which is why I combine it with pistol shot #5 for a slight stun while i get the spell off on them. By the end of the animation they have usually closed the distance to me. Might I add I always summon my phantasm first. Upon reaching me I use the block #2 which counterattacks and pushes me to the side spawning a clone in my place, at which point I dodge again giving me a nice distraction while I switch to my sword/sword and summon my other phantasm.

I see people saying that this weapon doesn’t know whether it’s condition or power… well why not both? I am mostly a power/crit build. #3 does a great amount of ranged direct damage, and the confusion stacks are just the icing on the cake when they close the distance to attack me. They damage themselves while my phantasm hits them and while I counterattack them.

I feel like most of you guys just want an IWIN weapon, which we don’t need in the slightest. If you combine your abilities properly then this class can succeed far above the rest.

I love scepter… kind of confused on all the hate. I’m assuming it’s from people that don’t understand how to use it properly. That block is there to eat the impending attack after using your channel #3. Please keep complaining and get my wonderful weapon buffed for me even though it is completely unnecessary.

Josh, you are just insisting on lying. 2 sec invul is available to mesmer every 8 seconds. Claiming it is every 20 seconds is a lie. You will not respond to my post because you have no answer, stop pretending to be ‘above it all’.
Tonight I rolled mesmer to test. Yeah, you can easily use BF 4 times in 30 sec as i described above. I went straight to duel a decent warrior and killed him. Should I be able to do so in my first fight on a class? No, but it happened for some reason.

That warrior was obviously Pro, and claiming it is every 20 seconds is about accurate. If you sit with your sword out constantly what exactly do you plan on doing while BF is on cooldown? Auto attacking? in pvp? melee? with cloth? Learn to play the game and you’ll understand what he meant. Weapon swap.

I know I’ll get flamed for this, but just do it like WoW did it. After a certain time has passed while holding the flag, you get a movement and defense debuff that stacks the longer you hold it. It limits the movement speed at regular walking speed so quickness won’t work, and would stack 10% extra dmg taken per stack.

Ok let me put this into a simple concept that hopefully you guys can understand. Mesmer has a low amount of health and wears cloth. If you are a sword mesmer you have to be in melee range, meaning you get eaten up very quick if you use this skill incorrectly. There is a punishment to using this skill at the wrong time and it’s called dying within a second afterward if you do not know what you are doing. If invuln is taken away from this skill then the damage needs to be at least double. My glass cannon specced mesmer still only does MAX and by max I mean the most I’ve ever done with it was 6k and that was every hit was a crit and on another glass cannon. If I have to sit in melee range and sit still against a warrior and I use this spell without going invuln, let’s see my possible 4k dmg max to there I dunno 12k with 100 blades they could use at the same time completely wrecking anything the sword build could potentially accomplish.

Please Arenanet if you are reading these give us more than one ability that uses Masterful Reflection. Blurred Frenzy should have been been applying it or at least that’s what the community expected. Instead however, we are seeing the stripping of versatility from builds as with most other classes whom now have far fewer builds they can actually use to be competitive.

P.S. It’s all I want for Christmas :P

I run a Sword/Sword and Scepter/Pistol build, I have 2 counter attacks, a strong ranged phantasm and a strong melee phantasm, I usually open with scepter/pistol and stack confusion on them and then summon my phantasm, at this point if they are melee they are on you, and you can either hit them with a pistol interrupt to stop them fora second though I prefer to save it for an interrupt when they are trying to heal or save themselves somehow, instead i generally use the counterattack which produces a clone and dodge right after that for a second clone though I will probably already have 3 due to the auto attack of the scepter. Then I switch to sword/sword and summon my swordsman, counterattack if they are back on me, dodge again, illusionary leap and auto attack them until they use a stronger melee move at which point I use Blurred Frenzy so they have blown their CD/INI I am specced into distortion reflecting all incoming dmg so I time it with peoples big attacks like hundred blades and whatnot, and it seems to be working, though I am told that moves distortion doesn’t work for the trait. Pretty much just rinse and repeat switch to scepter/pistol to interrupt or if your sword counter attack is up use it and hit it again and you’ll shoot out a bolt that can daze them to interrupt their heal.

Well… this dont make any sense…
So… People here said clones are bad, very easy to spot, easy to kill. (For some coments here no one should use clones ever, the bad they are…)
Then, i go to PvP and see… clones… and “usualy” who has clones wins the fight.
And still people come here saying to OP to l2p or things like he is a bad player.
If clones dont bring any advantage to the mesmer why they still use them?
this dont make any sense to me.

Because we are cloth wearers whom main way to survive is produce clones as a split second distraction. If you can’t spot the real one then you need to L2P, may be cliche… but it’s the truth. They are not tough to spot if you know what you’re doing and what your enemy is doing.

Quit crying OP because you are bad. I have played a mesmer, not my main though, only lvl like 15 or something. You don’t seem to be understanding people when they say aoe the clones. It is not to produce enough dmg to kill their clones it is to notice how much health they drop, giving away that they are clones. On top of that, it is unbelievably easy to stop memsers, you just have to learn how they work and when they are producing clones. Learn the mechanics of the class you are facing before screaming nerf. BTW who on earth complains about mesmers invis??? Do you realize how little time it lasts for? I could understand if this was WoW and you could remain stealthed forever, but 1-3 seconds of invisibility is absolutely nothing, and aoe can still hit them.

There are plenty of ways to spot a mesmer, and once you have that down they are actually quite easy to take out, unless they are built around counter attacks like my mesmers build. Their clones should be the least of your worries. Phantasms on the other hand are powerful, but they are obviously Phantasms and you need to be killing them the second you see them appear. Basically it comes down to you are a baddie with tunnel vision.

I’m not worried about balance as much as I am about variety. A well coordinated group will always seem unbalanced against an uncoordinated group. There are counters to every spec in this game.

I came to this game for one reason, to pvp. So far this game proves it has the potential to have amazing pvp. There are a few things lacking however, that leave me bored after only 30 or so minutes of playing.

Game Modes: As it stands now, there is pretty much only one spvp game mode, and I can’t help but wonder why Anet would launch a game bent on pvp with so few options. We need a Team Deathmatch game mode, last team standing, free for all deathmatch, last man standing, attack and defend the objectives(there are so many variations on this type that there are way too many to list), capture the flag, kill the leader(not npc), and lastly we need our own Guild Keeps like in GW1 that we can pit against other guilds, for actual GvG battles and need a leaderboard for such.

THIS is what is keeping me from playing the game. Playing Spvp becomes stale too quickly. There needs to be more variety amongst other things… but I feel this alone would bring back a lot of the Spvp population that has vanished.

As the title says, increase healing power effectiveness. Currently if you spec into power the damage difference you see is drastic. If you spec into healing power the healing difference you see is minimal and isn’t usually worth losing the amount of dps you lose by not speccing power. Going from 750 healing done as dps to 1050 healing done fully specced healer all the while going from 6k crits to 1.8k crits. Hardly seems balanced for 300 more health. Especially when the dmg being dealt by most players is tremendous amounts of burst dmg. I mean look at a thief or a shatter mesmer hitting for 13k instantly with one button. I know there are not supposed to be healers in this game, but support of any kind is so far; heal a slight amount and make their downed state take 1.5 seconds longer to reach and revive. I fail to see how relying on reviving people from being downed makes this game any better than the usual trinity. I’m not saying to make healing ridiculously OP, but to have losing that much dmg for that small a gain completely nullifies those specs.

I would love to see the range on this increaed drastically. It’s already hard for a squishy mesmer to actually stick around in melee without getting downed rather quickly. I would love to see this upped to a 900 or even 1200 range so we can actually use it sometimes.

Surely I can’t be the only person wondering where the variety is in spvp. We need more spvp game modes, not just maps. I do love having multiple maps for the same game mode, but having only one game mode makes things stale quite quickly. Please for the love of god add Capture the Flag. It is among my favorite of all game modes I’ve ever played. To be honest I’m surprised there isn’t some variant of it already.

You honestly just have to know how to play longbow… Look for the positions on the map where you can take advantage of your 1500 range, that should be your main goal. Find a spot where you can oversee a decent portion of a fight and rain arrows down upon your enemies. If you are at max range, you should be critting for 2.5k-3.4k every shot if you are built correctly.

Yeah I use protective reviver as well, but I am wondering… You say it doesn’t knockback, why then have I had it knockback? Or was it just several well timed coincidences, and why would anyone want a 1s projectile reflection?

Resolute Healer as it stands doesn’t seem to be worth taking. I have a tank healer build that I love, and I love the idea of this ability, but the Shield of Absorption that appears doesn’t last for more than .5 secs.This may be intended, but on top of that it rarely if ever knocks people away as it is supposed to do. It makes getting people away so I can revive before they finish them off nearly impossible and the skill itself null and void. I still use it in hopes of it working 1 out of 10 times, but it’s getting old getting to my teammate to revive long before the finisher takes place and nothing happens when the bubble blasts outward.

Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Or is this possibly just a latency issue? My ping is 30-60 so I’m a little baffled as to how it could be that.

I prefer to use this as an offensive over anything, it does amazing burst and hits twice just use it in the same spot if you have melee on you to get some great dmg on them then knockback and net them.

How about you spec for survivability if that’s your complaint, there are plenty of traits for it… I made a perfectly good aoe bleed spec that survives forever so learn to play your class or do as you think you should and quit.

Okay so here’s my idea i tested out a bit, and all seems well, but I could have just been up against constant baddies… so I figured I’d post it here and see what you guys think.

Okay, so basically with this build I keep all debuffs that would otherwise be on my allies transferred to me, and use Putrid Mark to transfer them to the enemies. If it is on CD or I am getting low on health I use Well of Blood and then Well of Power giving me massive amounts of boons. It is mostly support though I have had 0 problems soloing anyone so far. If i am really struggling for health I use Life Siphon and Deathly Swarm to buy me some time and of course Death Shroud when needed.

Would appreciate any tips you could give me.
