Hello again all, it’s a new day and we’re still looking for new members to join our ranks. Ran CoE explore last night, it was my first time personally. The mass exploding golems bit threw me for a loop but we completed it all just fine and now I have some experience with it lol.

Lore-friendly Backstory:

Our world, this land of Tyria, is a beautiful place wrapped in clear blue skies and vast oceans, towering mountains and lush grassy plains, deep forests and icy snowfields. At least, it was. The Elder Dragons have awoken, causing havoc and disaster across the land. Lives flicker out one by one, hopes are shattered, and darkness continues to spread.

We fight, slowly trying to regain what we have lost. Warriors, sages, and adventurers throughout Tyria strive to fight against these monstrosities. The Vigil, Durmand Priory, and Order of Whispers have formed amongst all the races to fight back in their own ways. However, their highly individualized views have clouded their insight and wisdom on the battlefield. Several members have realized this and decided to take a different approach: the combined effort. As such, Pact was born. The rise of Pact signaled the beginning of the fall of Zhaitan, the first general of the Elder Dragon’s war. However, there were those among Pact who knew the battle wasn’t over, that Zhaitan was only the beginning. They joined hands in oath, and vowed to strengthen all of Tyria. These individuals eventually became known as the Wings of Eclipse. They work behind the scenes to lift up the people, and to hunt down any enemy of Tyria.

We will take the darkness poured down on us by the dragons and cast it back upon them. May our wings be their last sight before darkness takes them, may only our feathers mark their graves. Let us be the dragon’s woe.

Although this guild was created awhile ago, we decided to get organized and get some guild work done before we began recruiting. So…here’s what you need to know:

Donations: No donations will be required OR accepted by any individual. IF you want to donate to the guild, we ask that you do so by purchasing influence to be used for guild upgrades.

Roleplay Friendly?: Yes, absolutely. (See our requirements page)
Roleplay Required?: No, but we do encourage a sense of depth and immersion. What we want most in this regard is for our members to enjoy the game not just as a game but also as a unique, lore-filled world for us to explore.
Additional Notes: We have decided to keep the main guild chat channel roleplay free. We have set aside places within the forums and on raidcall for RP, but we want the guild chat to be exactly that – a standard guild chat for any and all members.
We are definitely not a “hardcore” roleplay guild.

About Recruiting:

~ We will likely be recruiting for a long time in order to reach our recruitment goals as well as making sure we accept the right individuals for the guild.

~ We will never do random recruiting. This means no messages in map chat where anyone who sends a pm gets an invite. If we do any recruiting in map chat it will be to direct people to our site to learn more about us.

What we want (essentially) from you:

~ You are 18+ years old. We expect you to be a mature, adult member. This is by no means a vulgar guild, but adult conversations are bound to take place and we prefer for them not to devolve into anything ugly. (This age rule may be waived in EXTREMELY rare circumstances.)

~ You are kind, respectful, helpful, mature, fun, and active.

~ You really want to be involved with your guild. This means you don’t just want people to help you get armor or to spam events with. You want to get to know people and embrace a community you can become close to and have fun with while doing more than just grinding the game.

~ You like to drop by the forums and chat, make suggestions, post ideas, and improve the guild community as a whole.

What we want from the game and guild:

~ To have a good time with all members enjoying all the aspects of guild wars 2, inluding aspects we create ourselves for fun.

I did not answer the Operation: Union question b/c I wasn’t exactly clear on what that was. I mean, I get the main idea, but not what I’d actually be committing to.

I have never tried to talk or group with someone on another server. Is that possible?

You can talk to anyone in the same guild, regardless of server. As for grouping together, you can only do so for instances such as dungeons, and only with people in the same region – IE: North America or Europe.

So far as I’m aware, you don’t have to be a member of the guild to get help. I help anybody, regardless of what guild they are in, and if someone posted on this thread requesting help with a dungeon or help with a skill point or something, I would gladly help them in game whether they were a member or not. The guild is something that happened sort of by accident, when the people that were gathering here got along so well that they wanted an easier place to communicate and have fun together.

What I think is happening between you and Glitch is somewhat of a miscommunication. The guild itself is a commitment, and it’s for the good of everyone, so being a part of it does require some level of activity, and a willingness to help others beyond the benefit of oneself. However, as I said, although I’ve never seen any set of rules or anything for this thread, I’ve always helped anyone who asks (assuming they weren’t mean or rude, I mean we are volunteering the help) and I think the rest of the members feel the same.

Im neither looking for help or committing to a charity. I guess I just wanted to check here and see if anyone is in the same situation. But i guess most people rather have experienced dungeon runners to help than go experience something new together with someone else just as clueless about the dungeon. I really should have started dungeon stuff earlier while everyone’s practically new to everything…instead I waited for my dream team of irl friends to catch up to me and they never did.

It is an unfortunate truth that starting dungeons at this point makes it harder to find people who have never done them. However, when I started running dungeons with this group, I had only done 2 of them. The people I ran with were either in the same boat or had never done ANY. We had tons of fun together exploring and figuring things out, and frankly we died a LOT on some of them while we tried to get used to it. So this Union has no problem with what you’re asking for, it’s just a matter of finding people who are new to dungeons like yourself.

Additionally, as Glitch stated, we want to make sure you’re here for more than just dungeons. OP: Union isn’t a charity, but it is a commitment as are most guilds. We are a group that has grown together and one that enjoys the game in all its features (even the pointless ridiculous ones) and enjoys helping others when they need it.

I can’t speak for every thread you’ve seen, but in my personal opinion it is for the most part because pushing your crit rate beyond that point is not worth the other stats you have to sacrifice. I’m sure that glass cannon builds probably go over it, but most builds aren’t going to get much higher than 50% while keeping up the stats they need. Trying to force it to 60% won’t make that much difference, and that’s a lot of points you could have had in another stat to balance yourself out.

Tonight a bunch of us ran Honor of the Waves for the first time. It was lots of fun, gotta love those Kodan, the mighty polar bear warriors. I’ll be adding various screenshots to my album, but I wanted to post a screenshot showing guardian ‘heal on crit’ build in a full party.

It’s probably tough to even see all the different numbers in that spasm of heals, but add them all together and they become quite the heal.

Yes, you can try it all on for the most part in the pvp locker, you don’t have to enter an actual pvp match.

THAT is actually the tier 2 human cultural armor…but…as fate would have it I did figure out a couple of amazing blends, one of which I will create when I reach 80. Not sure how will look on female characters though. Later on I’ll go into pvp and post a screenshot of the setup.

Thief update! I reached level 46 (49 now) and I got this pirate armor set….and boy did it look terrible! I mean just plain awful on the thief. I couldn’t stand it. So I got this!

“Kitten” is a replacement word Anet’s ‘bad language police bot’(?) or ‘human intervention’ uses. Do you recall what word was substituted with ‘kitten’? It’s a rather novel/cute approach.

Because of the way power actually works. I haven’t done the math, but I know very well that even though my attack says 3000, I don’t do anywhere near that on a regular hit. 100 extra power won’t do much of anything. I would take the crit over that any day.

I can’t agree with this. Survivability may not need to be your primary concern, but it does matter. Seems detrimental to a race if you get killed everytime things gang up on you.

I may like the skritt, but I would much rather command an armada of quaggans. Foo!

This must have just happened then. I haven’t done any today yet. Sounds like it’s not a nerf though, they just tried to do something and broke it lol.

If you’re starting at level 1…my personal recommendation would have to be either thief or guardian. Assuming you avoid champions and other such bad guys, there is barely anything that can get in the way of a guardian in the lower levels. Additionally, a thief using a dagger main hand and pistol offhand can deal a lot of damage and protect itself with near constant blinding. Again though, this is only my personal thoughts.

Are you sure about this? Few days ago while doing TA dungeon i got 2 identical RARE back bracers of forest or something from the same boss chest. I equipped one and am pretty sure I sold the other on the TP (because I allays sell all yellow items there.)

I’m not positive. I just know I haven’t ever seen any on the tp, and none of the ones I have seen have been sellable, but that doesn’t mean they definitely aren’t there. Also ANet did say something about adding new items to dungeons and whatnot, so maybe.

It depends on the rules of this “race”. If there are any. If you have money, nothing beats crafting at leveling speed. If you don’t, I’d recommend skipping everything but hearts on whatever map you’re on, and participating in whatever events you come across. Except escort events. They will likely take more time than they are worth in a race.

I….don’t think so? I can’t say for sure, so I’ll wait and see what others say. But I do enjoy jumping puzzles, and I haven’t noticed any difference with it.

If that’s in overflow, there’s a very good chance that’s me lol. I’ve been goofing off with skritt potions in lion’s arch. If it’s not overflow, then I have no idea.

When it comes to armor and weapons, the best thing you can do when you are first starting is events. Even at level 6, I’m sure you’ve seen a few pop up, asking you to go help someone or do something nearby, and rewarding you with experience, karma, and a bit of money.

The reason I recommend events is the karma aspect.
I’m sure you have also noticed Heart NPC’s. When you complete the heart, the NPC will sell you things for karma. Be sure to check each one for gear upgrades that you can use. You will find weapons and armor. Eventually you will be able to purchase things with money from the trading post as well.

Make sure you do your daily achievements. Go into the hero tab and choose the last icon to see what you need to do. Completing this will give you a small amount of money, but more importantly 4500 karma. Dailies are not very hard to complete.
For the “Kill” requirements, know that white named things like sparkfly and rat and such do count.

So I’m thinking to myself, why does my game not look as good as some of these other people’s games…I go into my gfx options only to find out that all this time, all my post processing effects have been completely turned off. Turned them on, now my game looks like this.
