Those red stripes appear during story quests, it means that you were still inside the story instance. If you get stuck because it is too hard for your level, you can log out to the character select screen and back in and it will exit the story.
When I got in it was around 2 am, but that was awhile ago. You may be doing this, and if so disregard, but for anyone that reads keep in mind that you have to log into the game and back out to the character select screen to refresh the server list. Closing the panel and re-opening it won’t work. So if you do that, or if you just leave the panel up, it won’t ever change from full.
When you’re in a lower level area most everyone get’s down-leveled to a certain level. Is there any way to see someone’s true level? Also, in towns, I noticed some names are purple. What does that mean?
Inviting them to a party or seeing them in town is really the only way at this point. Level isn’t a really big deal in this game though, so asking them might actually work here, as opposed to games where people might be inclined to lie about it.
The purple names you mention are like that because their level is that far ahead of yours. Names are colored according to their distance in level from yours. If you go into a PvE zone with mobs of the same level as those players, their names will be purple too.
Here’s my contribution to the dancing pics, I think kit has some….other screenshots that may amuse you more lol.
Well G isn’t wrong by Kaii’s standard apparently I’m everywhere causing all the bugs!
That’s right, you buggy….bug man! I know your secret and all will be revealed in due time…
The Awesome Militia? That’s TAM, I thought we were LoH? I must be getting confused…oh dear…my old man syndrome must be kicking in again.
@Kit
I don’t have a sense of humor. Obviously. I will now snort derisively and lumber off to kill risen. ~snorts derisively~
I’ll send you an invite right now Aeleniel.
@TNE
You MUST read pages 3 to 13 immediately. How DARE you post without having completely read everything we had to say, it is ALL vital!
I am, of course, kidding. Welcome to the thread, and welcome to the guild. I’m getting on now so I will toss you an invite.
@Kaii Hahah. Kit’s probably going for adorable. G’s probably going for being a manly man.
We had a conversation in guild chat last night, during which I was informed that kit was adorable, but NOT girly. And that G was indeed a manly man.
I responded by saying that everyone has a LITTLE girly in them, including G, and that I was going to color them both pink.
@DEK
Those friendly rabbits are in league with the grawl. Don’t trust them!

You kids are in love and it’s ADORABLE. You wanted to be adorable right?
Hello everyone! I’m Aeleniel… Fairly new to Guild Wars 2. I’ve got a level 18 Sylvari Guardian and a couple of alternate characters I’m messing around with – a Ranger and an Elementalist. Everyone here seems very friendly, so I’m glad I found this thread!
EDIT: I hear that there’s a guild iteration on several servers… Is there a list somewhere that I could take a look at?
Hello Aeleniel.
Would you like an invitation to the guild? I don’t think there’s currently a list of who is where, but that might not be a bad idea. What server did you choose?
Regardless of server we all chat together and answer questions, as well as run dungeons and sometimes hang out in lion’s arch overflow. I’m sure any of us would be happy to help you out with anything you’d like to know about the game.
UNSUSPICIOUS RABBIT IS SUSPICIOUS!
When my teammates get 5-10 bleeds each, I use Save Yourselves, which gives me all in total of 25 bleed stacks. My signet removes the stacks after a few seconds, and I use Empower on staff together with Altruistic Healing, and I survive.
If conditions is a serious problem, use signet of resolve, purity(from traits), contemplation of purity and purging flames.
Speaking of bleed in general, it isn’t USUALLY an issue, it’s just that in this dungeon it’s too much too fast for me to handle so far. I haven’t been back online yet to put any of this advice to use, but when I do I will post how I fared. I use signet of resolve, and I use the purity trait…the problem with both of those is the hint of luck involved. Sometimes they work at the perfect moment but sometimes they fail miserably. Instead of removing a condition instantly and then having a 10 second cooldown, it applies the removal (at the same time) once every 10 seconds. So if the removal timer ticks, and then you get the bleed right after, you’re stuck with it.
As for contemplation of purity and purging flames, I don’t typically use those but I will give them a try as well. I currently use signet of resolve, traited to remove a condition when activated, the purity trait to remove another condition once every 10 seconds, and smite condition. Hope this info furthers the conversation as well, always looking to improve myself. Again I appreciate all the input so far.
Lol Glitch. When G and Kit tease me I always give serious answers like that and they giggle at me for taking it seriously.
I’m actually quite calm and easy to get along with lol.
I like the fact that faction armor is limited to the faction that you choose. What’s the point of joining a certain faction as part of the story and lore if you have access to everything that any faction has to offer? I understand why people want to mix and match armor, but that’s just my opinion.
As far as actually doing this, I answered in a previous thread that they had fixed the ability to do this, but was then proved wrong even though the item was still labeled as soulbound. So at the time of that thread it was still working, but it’s not something that I would regularly attempt, so I have no idea at this point.
@Glitch
I’m the impatient type! I mind explaining things! In fact I’m a very mean and malicious person who is not helpful or friendly at all. Just ask people who have run dungeons with me. They will tell you how I yelled at them and called them forest grubs.
I certainly do adore my guardian. However, while I can easily grant you best survivability I think best damage is extremely debatable.
Wall of Reflection is an interesting idea…rifleman aside, I never thought of using that SPECIFICALLY for the combo field. The rest of what is said is good as well, but those are more a matter of practice. I’ll try to focus harder on the timing. If anyone else has more to add please feel free. And thank you for the advice so far.
This topic comes to the guardian community after a rather poor experience in CM explorable. We were doing path 3, the butler path. Now all the bad guys hit hard, that’s to be expected, but the bandit cutpurses deliver 12 stacks of bleed with a single attack. That’s way too much for me to handle even 1 on 1, much less 2 or 3 of them using it.
Now my understanding has always been that armor doesn’t effect condition damage. It’s never been a problem so far because guardians have so many abilities that negate conditions, but in this case, the bleeds were so powerful and were placed so easily that it felt like a hopeless struggle. So…my question to you all is…am I missing something? I heal constantly with altruistic healing along with two hp regens, in addition to condition removal.
My stat build is shown below, there is a superior sigil of accuracy in my hammer, so the crit rate is actually 42%.
Thank you in advance.
I ran dungeons last night with a few of our members and it was a lovely experience. I did make some money, but more importantly, we had loads of fun.
Name: Juun (pronounced “June”)
Current Server: Tarnished Coast
YAY
I always thought of it as a graphical way of displaying gust or a breeze. But that is just how I seen it. At least the few I saw seem to repeat in the same direction.
Since it’s norn land, I always thought of it like that too, but kind of a spirit wind sort of thing. However, in all the ones I’ve seen, I’ve never seen that “white bar” that’s in your screenshot, just the trail part.
From my experience blind removes a hit and aegis removes another hit. It’s great for enemies that have big, slow attacks. But they don’t actually block “attacks” they block “hits” so a single attack that hits in rapid succession makes short work of these things and can even seem like they both get used at once.
It doesn’t change after 77, and I’m not sure what you’ve seen in videos, maybe things were different during the beta or something. I wouldn’t know about that, but as of now you definitely can not change skills during combat.
Also you’re welcome. I’d like to change skills in combat too, but I can see why they don’t allow it.
If I’m understanding this correctly, those arrows should appear automatically upon hovering the mouse near the top of the skill icon. However, they will not appear during combat as you are not allowed to switch skills while fighting.
I know Tarnished Coast is active across the board. I’m never in an area where I don’t encounter people and I run around all over the place.
It could be a number of things, an issue with the rifle, a difference in the effect of the piercing trait…and it’s possible that a mesmer mimic might not reflect a ranger with pierce either. I’ll be watching this for more information because I’d like to know too. I’ve been debating the real value of pierce with myself for awhile now.
I can’t speak for mesmers, but I know on my ranger I get reflected by the guardian’s wall of reflection, and the pve earth elemental’s reflective barrier even with piercing.
Your entire account is limited to a single server. You can currently transfer your account to a different server once per week. All of your characters go with you.
Also, I just wanted to say that this is also true for anyone you see on the Operation:Union thread – we will help out any time and anyone we can, you don’t need to be part of our guild. We really only guild together so we can communicate in game easier
What Lexy said.
People can feel free to add and message me as well. I’m happy to help in any way I can, from answering questions to risen slaying.
I’m on Tarnished Coast (NA). Most of the time I’m either on my ranger Jumoku, or my guardian Tei Faolan.
It has to be projectiles… ie. Arrows or Bullets.
It doesn’t work vs spells.
I’m not sure this is exactly accurate. I don’t use wall of reflection in wvw, although now I will have to test it out of curiosity. It just hasn’t been part of my build. But I know for a fact that it blocks at least some projectile spells in pve. Obviously I haven’t used it against every single spell in the game, but I know it works against projectile fireballs and ice shards. It doesn’t work against things with ground targeting or things that stream all the way from the weapon to a target, like a beam.
before you complain about guardians on the Southsun Cove: I had much less trouble there with my lvl 18 upscaled guardian than with my lvl 80 exotic equipped elementalist.
This is the kind of comment that leads me to believe there is something…not quite right about the scaling system. It’s had my attention for awhile, but I haven’t really discussed it yet. I have a guardian and a ranger at 80 and I have noticed on both that in some areas at certain level scales, they felt weaker at 80 in full exotics than they were when they were the appropriate level wearing the appropriate gear.
For those of you putting a link to Operation Union in your signature…
If you don’t want that long link to be displayed, you can link to the thread by using this format:“What you want it to say” : URL
With no spaces around the colon.I’ve added a link to my signature as well.
THANKS. Did it… (took a few tries cos I learn slow) but like it.
It looks good, I’m glad I could do something to help, even if it’s a small thing lol.

I would say rarely, but there are some builds that can take advantage of things like that. Such as rune of earth, water, and grove, to get combined +15% boon duration and total +50% protection duration. EDIT due to post below: I forgot about the monk rune, that would be a lot better than grove.
Or rune of lyssa, krait, and afflicted to get +10% condition duration and total +40% bleed duration.
Those are just immediate examples that come to mind, but I would say there can be advantages to it yes.

Oh, and I’m also more than happy to run from level 1 fractals. I don’t have any ascended items myself yet. I’m also available for other dungeons. In fact I’m available to help with anything that people might happen to be struggling with. If I’m not representing at the time, just whisper me and I will switch over.
I thought I would throw in my opinion about this whole ascended gear thing.
While I don’t particularly like the ascended gear, I feel that most of my initial concerns were unnecessary. While I have no idea what their plans are for the future, the ascended gear currently has no real value outside of the fractals of the mist dungeon. Additionally, ascended gear is account bound. This means that it is necessary to do the dungeon in order to obtain it, and that it will not be purchasable for large amounts of gold on the trading post. I’ve also been told that the drop rate for the items makes them relatively simple to obtain once you reach the appropriate difficulty within the dungeon.
That’s good since without agony resistance, you can’t progress beyond a certain point. This is most likely where the exclusion of players initially began. However, exclusion at this point becomes necessary, as people without the gear simply can’t survive.
Any exclusion previous to this and for any other reason is the same as it has always been for any other dungeon. There will always be people who are arrogant and elitist, and seek to look down on others. There will also always be people who refuse to teach and help others reach the same level of power because they themselves were not given that help. They believe that since they had to struggle, everyone should have to, and also that since they served their time struggling, they shouldn’t have to anymore. It’s a debatable point.
My understanding of what Operation Union has always been, is to help players of all classes, all races, all levels of ability and gear, to support each other and continue to grow stronger and make others stronger.
Ascended gear doesn’t challenge the goals of this union, we are faced with the same things we always have been. While everyone may not agree with the implementation of ascended gear, I feel that it’s addition is not a harmful one. The harm is, and always has been, caused by players who exclude others for unacceptable reasons.
That is what we should continue to overcome, and show the community as a whole that we do not agree with. Not ascended gear itself.
For those of you that read this, I appreciate you taking the time to do so.
This same thing happened to me. I was given some ridiculous incorrect password error. Right at the very end.
When I got back in, it put me into a different overflow where it was already done, wouldn’t let me back with my guild party, and now it’s all over.
I’m happy to do dungeons as well. I could use the experience in them. Gear and ability is no problem, but I know there’s a lot of tricks to learn in dungeons that comes with experience. I can go on a ranger or a guardian, if it’s AC I’d rather take the guardian.
I have an nzxt tower too, and yes they can be quite big. Lexa S has room for 5 cooling fans lol. It’s been a fantastic tower in my experience. Even with all the hardware set up it’s very easy to get to everything and maintain it.
Congratulations on the site and working to get organized.
Over on TC I’ve been setting some guild upgrades, nothing major yet, should have a guild stash shortly.
If it’s someone you are particularly concerned about, as in you’re really not quite sure, your officers aren’t sure, maybe the person has been logging on at times when few or no others are on…that kind of thing… Then I would suggest sending a mail along with the kick. Briefly explain what the removal was for and tell them to reply or get in touch with you if they want to stay. If you don’t hear from them, there’s your answer. If you do, then they can explain their situation.
OP this isn’t worth raging over just get over it isn’t worth it trust me you will live longer if you stop stressing over petty things
In all honesty this is pretty good advice for this particular subject. I’ve been playing games for a very long time, as I’m sure many people here have. I’ve never once called anything I’ve played a “toon”, and I doubt I will ever care to. It doesn’t appeal to me. But if others find it easier or want to call them that, then that’s fine. They aren’t hurting me by doing it.
I’d also be interested in the answer to this. A long time ago I saw the message pop up that I had achieved it, but when I went and looked the bar was still empty.
I saw someone say once that in order to get it you have to do it before your character ever dies the first time. But for all I know that could be complete hogwash. Perhaps it’s just a bugged achievement.
Well I certainly can’t comment on what class is the best, because I haven’t played them all. But I can say I’ve never had any problems “tagging” on either my ranger or guardian, and that’s not even my focus while I’m fighting. All the ranger really needs is the longbow aoe and a shortbow with pierce and you’ll hit plenty of stuff. As for the guardian, the greatsword leap of faith and whatever the spin aoe is called work well together, as the first puts you right on top of everything, and the second hits them. The greatsword normal attacks also have plenty of potential to just smack lots of things nearby.
I would imagine ele probably has some nice aoe’s that would tag well, but I can’t speak on that from experience.
The person really doesn’t want to give it back? I can’t imagine anyone in our guild acting like that, do you know that person well?
Absolutely this. What absurd behavior. Maybe he thinks you guys will just give up and let him stay there.
You can still buy gathering tools and salvage kits, although the salvage kits are terrible. Orr karma merchants have oric gathering tools though. It won’t use up much karma but it beats paying 4s each for them when you need them.
Cooking ingredients are also account bound not soul bound. I think everything else has been said.
Admittedly, I’m not familiar with this issue since I haven’t bothered with legendary weapons thus far. But I have a few questions and observations.
First of all, do we know this is working as intended? If there were already forum posts about it, maybe there was a comment somewhere about the recipe being broken. I don’t know, I didn’t see them.
Secondly, why is this such a problem when there is another recipe for clovers that DOES work? It might take a little longer to do it one at a time, but it’s not like it’s impossible to get them without this recipe.
And lastly, if you already saw the other forum posts, which I’m assuming you did because of this, “They are on the forums but I believe…” then why on earth would you spend all of that on it?
I’m really not trying to be aggressive here, and I’m genuinely curious as to the answers. I don’t understand this at all.
In honor of this occasion I present to you this picture of myself…..as a baby quaggan.
I didn’t find an answer searched for some other forum posts on the subject. Seems that there is currently no way to disable it.
