@akamon I’m actually only Fractal level 2 and am saving up mats for a basic exotic armor set. My guildmate (lvl 80 guardian) is to a-scared to try anything tougher without getting a good group (and the guild isn’t large enough to field a party). I’m used to dying all the time, so trying something over my head doesn’t bother me as much. Weekends are in general good, though this weekend is crazy b/c of Thanksgiving.

@M Eight Seven (duffy): Welcome! And who needs a dog crate when you can buy them a Wii and teach them good gaming habits early? I have fond memories of Mario, Duck Hunt, and the Sesame Street games on the NES.

Arh it was an in joke as Clara from The Guild was using a dog crate I have every console, right down to a snes and megadrive, my 5 year old actually loves to play GW2 on the beginning areas, she has been playing a DS since 2 1/2 years and now a 3ds zelda etc, ps3 skylanders and of course the wii.

Oh i forgot just to say i can handle the swearing, i use cans anyway, are you ready for mine, or do we have to watch what we say, i’m not very good at being reserved and i’m female.

Depends, I don’t mind the profanity, even used a lot as I game with a load of college and uni folks so used to it.

Just some folks prefer that the profanity kept to the minimum, as some are trying to keep up a good example for their young kids. Just depends who your around.

Been looking for more social, “smell the roses” style of playing through PvE aspects (I’m an explorer by nature) and tired of the race here, there and everywhere that usually happens in MMOs.
Unlike most, I’m not as fond of GW2 as I was of one (kinda feel they made a step backwards, but thats another lengthy discussion), though am still playing it so must be some aspects drawing me to it. I am fairly sure the strength of the game lies in good groups as opposed to the soloing/rushing I have been experiencing so far.

A note on mumble, you likely dont want to add the SuperUser details. You should be able to set up a client password (at server level, assuming thats not what you have actually given) and people can do the same thing without being able to change the root permission setups.

A further sugestion (and hopefully not oversteping here), maybe to add a list of servers and members on each as it could help members on the same servers facilitate doing stuff togeather easier (atleast untill the cross server invites are implemented).

Indeed you can add a server password for clients to put in to connect, I run a small 5 man mumble server as a backup to my main guilds 1000 slot mumble server which is in fact password protected (I’m a server admin on both servers), you can also change the name of the lobby from Root to something different, although it can be confusing for first time server admins. I can offer up my assistance if there’s a need for beautifying the Union’s mumble server

@Shnoof / Jacob – welcome!! glad to have ya on board with us. this is my first MMO as well and i’m having a blast. i started as a Guardian and maxed out my character slots with other classes as well.. i ended up just keep playing my Guard and i am maining the crap out of him lol. if you don’ have a strong preference, i’d say stick with the mesmer (very strong and fun class!!!) and you’ll learn to love it : ))

@Debs – oo very cool! i definitely enjoyed my time in St. Louis. but there’s not place like home not as exotic probably haha but i love it here. all of us are in no rush, so best to enjoy life as it comes! the dungeons’ll always be around for us.. aaaaaaaand i need some toast with my jelly!!! one thing i miss the most is my Uncle’s Thanksgiving Dinner! :OOO droooooooooooooool

@bri – ahh i had trouble finding a group for exp on my server! might be the time i was going at. wait, so again, cross-region dungeons are not possible? i remember Glitch saying it was alright, but not sure if that changed or what not. i would love to do a run with you guys! :OOO or do a run of anything with you guys haha

the hammer is the one with the colossus! that’s one of my favorite fractals actually. but it definitely took us some time the first time around. i’ve read it’s one of the harder fractals. the novices with their AoE’s get pretty annoying.(( and armour repairs DEFINITELY get in the way. when i first started dungeons, i ended up spending a lot of the loot on repairs as well :// practice makes perfect!!! dying to play the game now, just talking about it.. haha

glad to hear that your night ended well though! sometimes you just gotta go do something else for a change after some frustrating times. that being said, i wouldn’t have gone to malchor’s for that, lol. kudos to you!! : ))

Total bummer. Just managed to actually log in to the game, which was great. No more error code while logging in. I was going to go north and make up some lost time in the high level norn and charr areas. Made it to the portal to Hoelbrak from LA. Game crashed at the portal.

shame you’re having problems with the game. heres a few things that have worked for me in the past, so they might help you too (hopefully)

game crashing: if the game is crashing at portals/waypoints or anywhere in between, try deleting the local.dat. it will be re-downloaded in a smaller form when you next start the game. it can be in one of two places. either in the game’s installation folder, or in the game’s folder in documents.

I usually find any in-game stability issues are fixed by deleting that. it does reset your graphic options and makes the client forget username and password, but they’re easily put back in.

connection problems: theres a couple of things to try here, but you never know, one of them could be the solution you need.

1. the easy one. try adding /clientport 80 to the target box of the game shortcut. right click the shortcut and click properties, click after the last " in the target box, put a space in and type that (then click ok). this tells the game to use a specific port that is always open (because most things use it)

if that didn’t help try this

2. clear your DNS cache. first thing to do is open a command prompt window. then do the following:
*type in netsh winsock reset

• then type in ipconfig /flushdns
  *reboot your computer
  *reset your router

Just to let everyone know I’m more of a chat it up in game than on the forums. So I rarely check in here on the forum. In fact this thread has 4 pages since last I checked it. This is my main guild. Really almost my only guild at least until my lord of the rings online friends are bored with the rohan content that I haven’t bothered playing yet. As that is who I thought I’d be playing GW2 with the most. If only we could chat with more than one guild at a time then I wouldn’t have to pop back and forth to say hullo when people are online in both at the same time. Anyways I’ll see ya’ll in game. I love to chat while I play if anyone is feeling chatty.

Thanks for the suggestions! Sadly, I’ve tried them all, and I’m still getting the same problems. I have absolutely no trouble with GW1, or anything else at all. I managed to stay in the game long enough to do a few sPvP matches today, before I caught the never-ending loading screen.

Now I’m back to an error with the login server… It’s got to be on A-nets end, but honestly I’m not too worried today. Got back from work, now family stuff.

Nothing I saw or did in Fractals makes me want to go back in there, or any other dungeon for that matter. Crap rewards for a lot of effort and an expensive repair bill was all I had to show for it. Please, someone explain to me the fun and/or attraction in this cos I must be missing something …

So, I think I will stick to farming Orr, and helping players in lower map levels …

I’m certainly not a fan of running dungeons over and over, ad nauseum, but I do love a challenging group effort (if the group is friendly and not hell bent on breaking speed records). I like to see the content, too, at least once and maybe more in this game because my understanding is you can choose different paths in some of the dungeons.

I don’t care about the repair bills as long as people are having fun and are supportive of one another.
I’m having a problem getting into farming, though. I’d love a legendary or two eventually, so I guess I need to suck it up and get into that groove!

@Akamon — “there’s no place like home” is a vaguely familiar phrase to this Kansan! lol
And it sounds like your Uncle is a great Thanksgiving cook. They don’t partake of turkey in your part of the world?

@bri I understand the discouragement but they’re a good place for a challenge a great fun with some friends. It’s not a bad source of money either.

If you’re still interested in the AC armour just send me a whisper later. Same goes for anyone else. I’ll do my best not to rack up any unnecessary repair bills. Being a Ranger also makes things a bit more tricky as mobs do an insane amount of conditions and with the lack of removals it’s a bit of a problem.

I’ll always be there to help if you decide that you want the AC armour.

Oh, Nels, I’d probably like sPvP, I just don’t think my skill is up to it yet. I can’t recognize most skill animations, havê trouble dodging at the right time, and don’t have much practise countering other professions. So I’m going to hold off until I’m better.

Awesome! Looking back, adding the authentication server to my shortcut should have been in the first three things I tried. Makes me feel a little dumb.

I’ve logged in periodically throughout the day, and I’m doing ok. I even managed to do a few more fractals, which I can officially say are not my cup of tea. Bunch of mystic forge fodder, with no real hard rewards, except gear to do more fractals with…

I’m thinkin’ I’ll stick to all my old gameplay, at least until something interesting happens.

I’d love to do some dungeons, but I’m holding off until I can level a bit more and grab some decent gear. Just found my first rare this week, so I’m pretty excited about that.

My first dungeon (and PUG) was FoTM. We were down to 4 towards the end and nearly gave up at some point. I fell down the jumping puzzle once (or was it twice…) and died twice in the Aquatic Ruins fractal.
But thank goodness there were 3 great and smart people in the party who were patient enough with my fails and we made it through. The loot wasn’t anything great but it was my first dungeon so there was that nice sense of accomplishment.

I’ve been trying to do AC Story Mode but it seems everyone only wants to do Explorable these days
Tried it with a PUG but didn’t make it through unfortunately. So if anyone wants to do it at some time, pick me, pick me!

Has anyone had any positive or negative experience with running dungeons with PuG?

@bri sorry! I also said I’d make up for repairs. Must be my luck. I ended up making 60+ silver with rares and reward in that run.

Us 3 in the group enjoy the challenge as it really changes the game on standard pve play.

Also I would like to bring up a very good point brought up by Satsugai.

Should Representation be Mandatory?

I do agree non representation discourages our newer folks. However that does mean I go back on ny saying where I would allow members their freedom.

When the website is completed I will create an Officers Application that will be our dedicated team which are very active, this will be for our serious members that really do want to take a more active role. Acting as recruiters and support team.

What does everyone think? Should it now be Mandatoryfor newer members to represent to create a more active Operation and easier to support one another.

This will definitely create more accessibility but to me removes sense of freedom for players that they are constricted.

Does this defeat the point of the Operation? Or is it indeed to relaxed

I do want everyone’s input before I make such a decision.

its a good question, but one I feel is difficult to answer.

while I have switched to the legion being my main guild, and therefore rep all of the time, it was a decision that took me a while to make. the guild I came from was made up of friends and I didn’t want them to feel like I was shunning them by changing. I had to make sure that what I do now was the right decision. it was, but like I said it took time. if having to rep was an original requirement to join, I don’t think I would have. I’m not saying it was like that for everyone, but maybe something to consider.

of course its different now, I’m behind this project and the guild 100%

Cheers G. That was my consensus. It was an interesting point so thought I’d bring it up. However I don’t want to be an idiot and force people. That’s not what I do, also it would be limiting the player base we get.

As always I’ll post up my thoughts and discuss before further action from you folks or any member.

However I think it would be wise to devise a support team to actively help folks. I’m always on dungeon duty.

As to your question, no, I don’t think you need to be up to date on your story to run dungeons. Others can feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

there are a few that will be migrating over at some point. one is having some very hefty family problems at the moment (so taking a break from the game), and my (soon to be) brother-in-law. so watch out for an influx of Isle of Janthir peeps

I do agree that a support team, who is always around, is a great idea (as long as I can be on jumping puzzle duty ). I’d be up for being one of those people, but in the end thats up to you (oh yeah ball in your court)

I am atm downloading the game and i have a feeling it will be tomorow before i can play but im very excited by the prospect of playing.

About me: I am a wow player ( yeah i know) amoung other games like skyrim and such like. Anyway i am bored bored bored and i wanted to try something different. I almost bought this game on release but Pandaria was going at the time so i defered until now. I noticed a sale and thought WTH ill give it a go. i know no one who plays GW2 which is a bit of a put off but i will give it a good go.

I am 49 years old and i own my own company which like most in the UK is going through hard times atm and as such i may have times when i am not playing because i am trying to sort issues out. What i would love is a good guild that will assist me to learn the game and in turn i may assist them back when i am in tune with the game myself. I am an avid gamer and have been since the days of speccys and c64s.

Hey everyone, this sounds like a fantastic idea! I’ve been playing since the last beta (GW1 player on and off since the last beta for that one too) and I’ve gotten most of the solo exploration out of my system dragging a character up to 80. Now I’m mostly playing with alts and helping out friends when I can. I would much rather repeat content with a fun group or a buddy than agonize over completion (the game is so much more fun played socially and I still haven’t done most of the dungeons or exploration!) I’m not the best player by a long shot, but I try to figure things out and be patient when other people are trying to learn mechanics too.

Active: Very busy during the week, but always on in the weekends and sometimes during the evenings during the week too.
Additional Comments: This sounds great. I am new to Guild Wars, but have been enjoying it a lot so far and I think I’ve learned a lot. Especially by doing. For example falling off at the last moment with very difficult jumping puzzles. I tend to do that. I’ve got my main character up to about level 70 at the moment. Something I do miss is some company and the spontaneous exploring-groups that sometimes randomly formed. Used to be loads of fun but sadly I am mostly exploring on my own at the moment. I used to be in a guild but I left because it wasn’t active at all. That is why I think this is a great idea.

I’m in 2 other guilds (for specific reasons) so mandatory representation would be a bit restrictive for me, even though I did bring up representation haha >_>

Maybe, when there’s 6 (or even 10) or more others online, then we represent? so we can talk to each other or organise dungeons etc. That is if it doesn’t conflict with one’s current activity or obligation with one’s other guilds.
I think I just totally made that sound too serious.
Anyway, I love the idea behind this, the fact that it isn’t restrictive, and seeing so many people who want to play together!

Also, I’m terrible at jumping puzzle, and I mean terrible. So if you’re wanting to do one together, grab me in game and we can fall and get up together (multiple times most likely)
I’m also keen with exploring together, especially maps that are 50 above as it gets quite lonely there sometimes. But will love doing lower level maps as well!
