Dervish and Ritualist?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Kam.1780

Actually there is no such class in GW2 that resembles ritualist right now at all. Both revenants and engineers use different mechanics – turrets are far less versatile then ritualist’s spirits were and same goes for revenant legends and ritualist’s items spells. I, for one, do hope that once we get to Cantha at one point, we may have a class resembling the ritualist’s mysticism much more then revenant does now.

PoF Demo - Feedback

Kam.1780

Well, to start off, the lansdcape and all the visual quality is pretty nice in PoF. Mounts seem fun, too, and… that’s all I think.

Forcing to use your mount to reach certain elements of the game is a bad idea. Altrenative ways to reach certain points of interests on the map would be a welcome addition.

Hiding MPs or SPs behind mini games or jumping puzzles (I personally fiercely hate them both) is still not a good choice, IMO.

Events are boring and map miss metas (though I am sure some will be added after release of the expansion.)

All in all, the – for me – unwelcome game mechanics that were introduced with HoT and made me quit playing almost a year ago are still there, so I don’t feel the urge the come back right now. Will not be buying the expansion now for sure.

The game is unfortunately back in the state for me as it used to be at the launch of HOT: OOM crashes in every few minutes, totally unplayable. Then, I had managed to solve it. Now I am back in the same boat again. Guess I am done with GW2 for a while. Shame.

Experiencing the same issue as above. Most of my characters are either in Silverwastes, Dry Top or Orr, and I am kicked the moment the map loads on them. I must add, however, that starter maps seem fine, as I have no such problem with my low level thief so far. Though game is pretty laggy even there, too.

i am also happy having auto saves. came in handy so many times because of the same reasons you have stated.

Facet of Light vs mesmer

in Living World

Kam.1780

Have not yet tried to complete this mission with my mesmer, yet, but she will come next. So my question is: have you tried Phantasmal Duelist with Duelist’s Discipline trait? In theory, the range of the phantasm should be larger than the static field of the boss. So having several duelists summoned and feedback above the boss might speed up the battle.

Kam.1780

Do not attack the Facet directly. Take up the fragility buff, that is summoned when the boss attacks and “pass” it on to one of the vortex crystals around, then kill the crystal. Upon death, it will damage the boss. Be cautious though, while you have the buff on, avoid the boss’ AoE, since it can put you into downed state and eventally kill you easily.

Feedback: No more Armor Repair costs etc..

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Kam.1780

Kam.1780

I guess repair costs were not that high that it would break the economy when removed, so I think it is a good move. Damaging armor is still a penalty for dying and I personally care more about a broken armor piece that will lose its stats then the cost.

As for the champ bags loot drop reduction, I dont think it would hurt people doing farming regularly too much, though we do not know yet, how much the reduction will be.

The possibility to retrait any time, anywhere in the game is one of the most expected thing for me in the forthcoming patch. That will certainly encourage me personally to experiment with different builds and tweaks. If this was paired with the ability to save our builds, that would be awesome.

King Doric, Bloodstones and Dragons

in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath

Posted by: Kam.1780

Kam.1780

It is very unlikely that Doric is buried under Lion’s Arch. The carving on the Historical Monument of King’s Watch in Ascalon assumes that his death might have occured when his blood was used to seal the bloodstone and therefore he may be lying in Orr somewhere.

We do not know for sure if there is one of the bloodstones lying under LA as well. The three stones we know of (the one in the Maguuma Wastes, the one in the Shiverpeaks and the on in Abbadon’s Mouth) are all unreachable now, so there might be one of the missing ones under LA. Maybe it is the keystone itself that is required to forge the bloodstones into one again. Then again, one more stone is still needed for the process, not to mention that the stone that once was in Abbadon’s Mouth is beneath the Unending Sea somewhere.

New RNG system...could it work in GW2?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Kam.1780

Kam.1780

It would be not easy to decide what is a “bad” and what is a “good” drop. It all comes down to personal demands. Which is a “good” drop for me, may be a “bad” one for others. Moreover, a higher droprate of formally “better” items would probably decrease its price on TP, making it a less “required” drop on the long run.

I think Mercury is right in saying that valuing items is pretty bad in this game, but it is as much fault of the playerbase as that of the game. Keeping his example: a vicious fang, though a fine item, has higher demands, as it is needed in crafting legendary and other high value items, whilst a pile of putrid essence is not so much, though I am sure the droprate of the former is still higher then the later.

I think the current MF system works fine with that. The higher MF you have, the better chance you have for a rarer item.

Are players leeching?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Kam.1780

Kam.1780

Yes.

And there’s nothing wrong with it tbh. It’s a pretty boring event to begin with, and unless you want swift closer, a hit on Scarlet, or farm champions, there really isn’t much of a reason to stick around.

I don’t blame them. I usually just complete a couple of the rift events, and then alt/tab to the forums or something like that. Unless I’m playing with friends, which can make the experience a little bit more enjoyable.

Actually this kind of behaviour leads to the frequent failures of the event, not to mention that thanks to the leechers those players that really would like to contribute are forced to the overflow servers not hosting the event.

Why no mounts?

in Suggestions

Posted by: Kam.1780

Kam.1780

I have never played a game with mounts (got bored of WoW in a few hours of playing so I bet it does not count), so enlighten me, please, how exactly would that work in GW2?

Will you have to get off your mount before engaging a battle?
Will your mount help you out in the fight, like a pet? What happens if it does not survive?
What happens during a DE? Will there be stables for your mount to keep them during the fight?
Should you die, in lack of wps will you have to run (or ride) back from the nearest town to the spot the DE is taking place?
Will you have to get off your mount whilst collecting crafting material?

Seriously, can anyone answer these questions, please?

Is it really hard to add dueling?

in Suggestions

Posted by: Kam.1780

Kam.1780

If its really that much of a problem, you could also add guild halls (eventually haha, im not that unreasonable) and only allow dueling while in the presence of the guild hall. That way people could make an event out of it and have tourneys with their guildys. It would also take away the problem of people who are worried about getting pestered with duel requests (although there would obviously be an option to turn those requests off anyways).

Now, these are some very nice suggestions, in my opinions. Thank you.

@Gaudrath
And what exactly your problem is with having this feature introduced in the Mists?

Oh, wait, I think I know: you can not bring level 2s to their knees with your level 80, is that right? If you do want dueling, it should be competitive, not a slaughter.

I cited my arguments why I do not find it appropriate dueling in the game and brougth up a possible alternative for those who would really like to have it. Your answer? Arrogance. If that is how duelists behave then, no, thank you I don’t want this in my game.

In my eyes in PvE there is no place for player versus player battles. Bring it to the Mists, full stop.

Does some have more DC after new patch?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Kam.1780

Kam.1780

Same here. I am also playing on Gandarra and have frequent dc’s and crashes in the most sudden moments. Like, huge world events run relatively smoothly with mild lag and then I randomly get a cd while just running around on an empty map.

I usually have many crashes on map travels, most of the time when I travel larger distances, but these cd’s used to be very, very rare.

All these started after the February patch.

Kam.1780

GW2 promotes player co-operation. It has a vast lore that has no place for duels at all. Personally I would not like to see player dueling in the open world or spamming map chat with dueling requests.

That said, the only place I could imagine dueling is the Mists. If they ever implement this feature, they should also add a 1v1 Arena, make a ladder, even organize championships, whatever. Just not in the open world, please.

Network Lag [Merged]

in Account & Technical Support

Posted by: Kam.1780

Kam.1780

Same for me as mentioned above by several other players: massive lag, game is close to unplayable. World event is impossible to complete due to the fact that I either lag out or my client crashes. I failed to have the chest spawn for me several times lately due to this. I experinece lots of “culling” effect in open world, too. And I had never had this before; now I just walk around in during an event seemingly alone, then I am suddenly dead, coz I run into a mob that were invisible.

I’de never had problems like this before the February update. My client crashed every now and then on map travels, but only on map travels. Now it just quits as I simply walk around in the open world as well.

Will dueling ever be implemented?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Kam.1780

About the lore part.

There are several hearts where you have to fight other allies, for training. Especially charr hearts. And why do they do this? To get better at fighting.

Why would i want duels? To get better at fighting.

Okay, one more reply. And I apologize for the off-topic in advance.

I know what you mean and there are several similar ones in the Human areas as well. But sadly, these are not part of the lore.

Separatists fighting against the forces prefering the fragile peace between the charr and humans, the flame legion’s fight for dominance against the other high legions, centaurs battling with “two-legs” in Kryta, sylvari vs Nightmare Court, normal krewe vs. inquest – these conflicts have their lore, reason and background, they are part of it. Clashing with an ally for training is not.

Now back to topic: what you say about training and getting better at fighting is fine and there is nothing wrong with it, but it has its own place: in the Mists.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Kam.1780

What would be so gamebreaking about dueling? We’re not talking about changing the entire face of the game here.

As i said. It’s already happening lorewise.

It’s a small feature that would make many players happy.

Of course duelling would not be gamebreaking, I never said that. This is a feature I would not happily see to come into this game and in my previous comments I tried to explain why. Tastes differ, you know, and dueling is something that is not important for me at all. I would certainly accept it, should it ever be implemented, but not happily.

As for your statement that this feature would be rightly fit into the lore, I’d argue here. I hope you don’t think that killing NPCs in the open world as part of an event or a personal story is a duel. This game promotes co-operation and team effort. Defeating Zhaitan is after all an ultimate fruit of orders and races working together. Based on that, the only “duel” I would think right – lorewise, I must add – is a charr battling a human. It is not an accident that PvP and PvE are so tightly separated. It has its lore background as well. So the only place I would place duels – if ever shall it get implemented – is the Mists. And custom arenas I was talking about earlier will provide just that.

As for your comment on the suggestion part of the Forum, well, I don’t really get what it has to do with our discussion here.

@Winfernal
GW2 set out to go along a slightly different path than other traditional MMOs. And seeing the latest patches it seems that they are dedicated to keep that track. The forthcomig scavanger hunt and guild missions, and the unfolding Living Story are all following the traditions of GW1 and this is good, imo.

Why would you want to have it transformed into the face of a traditional one then? I don’t say that it does not lack features and content, it certainly does, but in my eyes they are not those “standard” ones many of you want to have here. “Standard” features would make this game more a “standard” MMO.

You know, I don’t really get why you guys want duels, mounts, inspect and whatnot implemented into this game. If you do miss those features so dearly, maybe you should pick another game with those already added. This game is good as it is, IMHO.

Having said that, I am sure that the custom arena feature - once they are implemented – may be a good place for anyone whishing to hone their skill in 1v1 battles.

This is an excellent build. I myself am running a build with a very same trait distribution, but phantasms being my major source of damage, I picked slightly different traits. Also, I prefer a staff as a secondary weapon (warlock can deal really, really high critical damage )

I pretty much like the flexibility of this trait distribution: by changing one utility skill and some traits you can easily convert this build into a shatter one. Just drop the staff for a sword/pistol and you are done.

On a more serious note though, maybe you should try out different personal story arcs, join an order you have not yet experienced the story with or try out other races.
