Are the rewards for Canach’s Lair available ONCE per character?
Or is it daily for each character? I assumed if it was daily, it would reset when dailies did, but it apparently did not.
I was just thinking of this a while ago… Never seen a thread for this.
But to the legendary owners out there, have you or do you regret your legendary of choice?
Like, did you regret your Twilight? Underwater legendary? Didn’t think the Dreamer was all what you thought it’d be?
Just for my own curiousity and for others!
It’s an MMO, you have to expect group content.
I think this is a great idea. Then you’d see more people doing dungeons maybe, and more ads on GW2LFG. It’s kind of a bummer to see such few ads for dungeons like HotW and SE.
At the same time, it could breed speed runners, and the “ping or gtfo” for lodestone farming – that stuff doesn’t bother me personally, but I know people are extremely sensitive to seeing those ads and it hurts their feelings.
I know quite a bit of people with Legendaries that are your “casual, average joe” players.
Some of them got lucky and hit it big at the Karka lottery. I know some people that have hopped on multiple overflows to do the event again to get at that chest again.
Also, back then, gems were very cheap to purchase compared to how much they cost today. And there’s been plenty of limited edition items, like Halloween items, and other items that have skyrocketed in price, allowing people that invested to cash in big time.
Haven’t done the math, but buying all the things needed for a Legendary off the Trading Post (Excluding things like Mystic Clovers, of course), is probably WAY more cost efficient than simply buying the Legendary itself. I could be wrong, though.
I don’t want to be rude TC, but I get the feeling you created this thread with a sense of bitterness towards Legendaries and what is needed to obtain them.
… Okay I take back my post. All my anger towards the Forge is now towards you, OP.
… just kidding. A little. ._.
I do care. Thank you for your story. I have several hundred gold built up, and I’ve had nights where I’ve had strong urges to just spend it on the Mystic Forge for my precursor, when I know I shouldn’t- That would erase the hundreds of hours I slaved away for the gold, in just a blink of an eye….
Stories like this help reassure and encourage people like me to NOT give in to this mystic garbage.
1. Do not purchase and use Magic Find gear. You will be a leech if you wear it in dungeons and will be disliked for it.
In my personal experience, the best way to go about getting geared up is by simply doing dungeons.
It only takes half a minute- go to gw2lfg.com, find an EXP group for a dungeon, copy and paste the ad poster’s name, and type /join person’sname and away you go!
It’s that simple.
Those tokens will rack up as you experience the dungeons, and you’ll have more than enough to get your full set. In addition, you’ll gain quite a good amount of gold as you do this so you get both tokens and gold.
Don’t think about token and gold gain, just try to enjoy your time in the dungeons, then you’ll suddenly be like “woah, i have 20g! I have 1000 tokens!”
Wintersday > Halloween > SAB > Lost Shores >>>>>>>>>> F/F
I disagree with people that complain about the exchange rate being too high but at the same time, I can at least understand their point of view- it’s not a feeling of “entitlement,” they just want a price that seems fair. They don’t want free, they want a good deal.
And to want that is just human nature.
Hmmm? Stealth buff to the chances for a precursor, or just luck playing it’s hand? Might be time to buy a few rare greatswords…
I’ve stopped playing this game about 5 months ago.
So don’t worry ANet, the population loss doesn’t mean that the game is bad, I mean for some are, but that’s just the minority, I’m here waiting for a major update or patch, doesn’t matter if I have to buy it or not, but i’ll be here to see new events and lore and try to squeeze every bit of gameplay I can.
You missed out on Shadow of the Mad King, Lost Shores, and Wintersday. Luckily, you’re not too late to experience Flame and Frost, the first Living Story arc. Oh, and the Super Adventure Box.
You’ve been waiting 5 months for a major update/patch? There’s been one every month. >_____>
Oh, and there will be another in 10 days- April 30th, the last chapter of Flame and Frost.
You’re not trying hard enough, your entire post reeks of lack of information.
Greetings!
I run CoF P1 speed farms on a Zerker warrior. But I’m a nice guy, really. I can understand why there’s so much disdain towards people like me that do these runs.
The requirement to getting into one of these runs is high for the casual player – full exotic Berserker gear, must be a Warrior or Mesmer, and must know how to properly run it. Why is this way? To maximize the time for clearing. When you make a time investment for many speed runs and a money investment in full Zerks or leveling a Warrior/Mes, you want to get the most out of it.
CoF P1 runs still don’t net you a crazy amount of money- with the right stuff, you make about 1g per 2 runs. therefore, clearing it in the fastest way possible is key.
As for the behavior of CoF p1 farmers and their “elitism.” Well, I can’t speak for all of them, but I assure you, I’ve been in many groups, met many people, and many of them are down to earth, good people, although the ads (Y’know, "FULL ZERKS PING OR GTFO) imply otherwise.
There’s not much I can say or do to prevent people from creating these hate posts. The only advice I can give is to simply ignore these GW2LFG ads and do not join these speedrun groups. These players are human beings, and they choose to do what they do. If you don’t like what they’re doing, that’s okay. You have that right. Just please don’t feed the flames and turn the conversation to a flame war.
From what I’ve seen from the GW2 forum community, it’s viewed negatively which seems to mostly spawn from envy.
If you want it, get it. Just know when to have it on and when to not. Examples:
A. If a Commander or two is already leading in the borderlands you just joined.
B. If you’re going to idle next to a waypoint.
C. If you’re just doing solo map completion.
It can be helpful in PVE as well, for being a beacon for people to join in for Grenth temple runs, for example, or other guild events you might come up with. But just know when to use it, and when not to is what it all comes down to, really.
There’s other things you’re missing.
Using just the gold you gain, assuming you have these as defaults (Gilded infusion for +20% and Omnom for +40%) you can make
-16S from Slave Driver
-10S from the first chest, always
-25S from the searing legendary
-6S for completing the dungeon(if youre at the maximum DR)
for a total of 57 SilverNow that’s without including
A: The item drops
B: The bag of goods, which give 2-3S a piece
C: Random $ drops from bosses (which is usually nothing but still)So every two runs, you will make more than 1G gurantee
If every run takes 10 min(assuming), thats 3G every hour (again, assuming it takes that long and you don’t factor in items)
That means every 5 hours you can make 15G(Assuming thats the most someone can play in a day)
Which means in a week, you can make 105G a week with just default money you get.But the main thing, is the tokens you receive.
1. Save up 1200 or 1560 to gamble with exotic daggers and GS with the mystic toilet(doesn’t take long at all)
2. Buy the 30 charr carvings rare helmet and salvage them all for ectos, then sell themBut heres the big money make IMO
The karma.
I have made more than 3 million karma with all the drops and dungeon completion.
With all that karma, I spend it on Orian boxes, which have a chance to drop lodestones, and with that many boxes you’re bound to get a lot. That includes charged, which sells for 3g a piece. Not to mention the unidentified objects which sell for quite a bit. It’s the best way to make money by far.
Bless your heart for this post.
I’m yet another unfortunate soul that has resorted to running CoF p1 zerker runs on my Warrior, because of the incredibly high price for Dusk. 700g, really?
But anyways, I was beginning to get a bit discouraged. Sure, it was fast. But I noticed my gold gain to be miniscule.
What was I missing? Omnomberry bar (I always used the peach bars because it was cheaper), and the Infusion. I was always feeling down at the end of each CoF run because of the diminshed silver reward at the end. But now that I know that the bulk of the money is actually gained from monsters kills, I feel motivated to tackle CoF 1 over and over again.
And finally, thank you for the tip about using tokens for 4 Exotics Greatswords for the Mystic Toilet. I was using the tokens on rares for Ectos for more money, previously.. but I’m going to do this now. Who knows? Maybe I’ll get a precursor from the forge on my way to accumulating 700g+. I still need to get my 100 icy runestones and 100 lodestones as well (That’s all I need), so the chance of throwing in 4 exotic GS’s every now and then seems to be an encouraging bonus.
Again, thanks so much for this post.
Indeed! I normally switch Wall of Reflection in when I know I’m going to go into a dungeon like HotW or Arah.
I’m currently using the utility that does area damage and more damage if you have a condition, and the AoE ring of fire combo field, with Stand your Ground, and switch in based on the situation.
Seems to work great! Should I continue to use Renewed Focus? I haven’t really touched the other two tomes..
Thanks so much! That looks like what I was looking for. What utilities would you recommend? If I’m leaving behind Altruistic Healing and Soldier Runes, then I should go with other utilities right?
What’s your current trait build OP?
0/0/30/30/10
I use mostly Knight’s so I’m using Retributive Armor, Two Handed Mastery (Cause I use Greatsword primarily), Altrustic Healing, -20% on Shouts, and Empowering Might.
Soldier runes on armor to remove conditions on shout.
I like Empowering Might and Two Handed Mastery.. and the whole shouting thing to control conditions. Is it a good idea to continue this build, except using Zerker gear?
For hundreds of hours, I’ve played my Guardian that focuses on a shout build with Altrustic Healing, Empowering Might, and all that- using Knight’s gear, PVT, and all that good stuff.
It has served me well. I’ve never had a problem with dungeons at all.
However, lately, I’ve been striving harder to obtain my first legendary. I’m at the point where all I need now is hundreds of gold. Unfortunately, I went to the dark side and invested in full Berserker’s gear to get into those super quick CoF p1 runs to get gold.
Then, I decided to take my Warrior to other dungeons- Arah exp, CoE exp, and I found myself not really dying much at all. I’ve become confident in my ability to dodge and kite and to simply not die. The damage output on my Warrior is about 4x+ the damage of my Guardian. It made me think about giving the legendary to my Warrior instead.
However, I love my Guardian. I’ve played it for hundreds of hours like I said, and would like to give it the legendary and to continue keeping it as my main- but I just feel so much more useful on my Warrior.
I think my skill has grown so that I can sacrifice all that toughness and vitality in favor of precision and crit damage without going down. I’d like to carry this over to my Guardian so I can remain playing it. I already know that I won’t achieve the same damage output as my Guardian, but I’d like to dish out as much damage as I can.
Is this a good idea? Are there any strong zerker-focused Guardian builds that you would recommend?
TLDR:
Just tried a zerker Warrior, and am loving the damage output, and am finding my skill to dodge and stay alive to be worth it, as I hardly go down and I dish out insane damage. I love my Guardian and would like to carry that over to my Guardian. I can’t just “play both” because I’m striving for a legendary that I’d like to give to my Guardian so I can continue using it as my “main.” Any power based or zerkers build you have that you could recommend? Or is this just not a good idea?
This whole idea is laughable.
This is proof that level 35 players can’t simply just into the fray and enjoy a dungeon. You NEED to have a group of experienced players that are outfitted in rares, and have already had experience doing AC on an 80 alt or something.
Well well, it’s finally been found. There’s been a few on the TP today. One currently for 2500g.
One can’t help but be curious that after all these months, it’s finally found on a big patch day.
Valkyria Skyfall
Profession: Warrior
Traited: Shout build
Gear: All exotics, a mix of PVT, Zerks, Valk’s, Knight’s for strong survivability while not sacrificing damage or support
Experience: I’ve done path 3 once.
Time: Tues-Fri : 6:30 PM EST – 2AM EST
Sat-Mon: Can be on anytime, usually a large portion of the day.
For Daily healer, people on my server (Tarnished Coast) are usually jumping off the statue at Divinity’s Reach at Minister’s waypoint. Getting 100% healer daily barely takes long thanks to this. I’m not sure if other servers do it as frequently as TC, but that’s one way to avoid the Blood Fields body rush.
I only go as high as the Raspberry Peach Bars allows, because it’s silly to gimp yourself and others wasting a slot for stats over a stat that is garbage and slows down progress.
Thanks for the suggestions guys.
I forgot to mention that I primarily would like to use Greatsword/Rifle, but I understand that I must be versatile, and I will indeed try to get an exotic of every weapon type available in my inventory.
Zerk gear + Cavalier trinkets does sound a bit appealing, I suppose: I still get Vitality and Toughness.
Hey there!
I finally got around to making a Warrior, and I used the Signet build and Greatsword to quickly climb to level 80.
However, I’ve heard that this build is no longer viable for level 80, and that there are better alternatives.
I’m already dead set on using Power/Vitality/Toughness (PTV or PVT, I forget.) gear, I’m not interested in using Berserker’s or Knight’s.
I was thinking for runes, to use Soldier’s, and run a shout build, much similar to my Guardian, which also uses Soldier runes and shouts (Mainly cause of Altrusitic Healing though.)
Is this a good way to go? If so, what major traits or traits in general would go good with such a build?
Thanks in advance!
Hundreds of legendaries out there but not a single Final Rest? Has there been a confirmed player with Final Rest out there in the PVE world yet?
Hi,
I’ve been playing since launch (Anvil Rock) and have not once seen anyone roleplaying with eachother or any guilds with RP recruiting, I was wondering if this is simply a result of a bad server choice or of Guild Wars 2 just happens to have a lack of a roleplaying community.
Have you seen any RPers in your server/Do you RP yourself?Tarnished Coast is the unofficial RP-centric server, and it’s awesome to have a world were there are adventuring parties and in-game player events to flesh out the zones. It’s a treat to be sure.
This ^^
Tarnished Coast has a lot of RP guilds and events. I cant play in a zone without seeing someone RPing. I am not an RPer but there is no shortage on TC. I love TC even though I do not RP but some ppl in my guild like to RP with other guilds. I have been on 2 other servers and found my home in TC and have never looked back. Probably the best community I have seen in any game I have played.
What he said. TC is very well populated, and the RPers make the game feel like it has a been more life. Plus, for non-RPers, if you ever get the itch to give it a try, people are always open and willing to acknowledge and take you seriously. There’s even a few heavy PvX guilds that occassionally like to stop by the taverns in DR for some good old roleplaying. Awesome community, great people.
Copy and paste the person’s name, then type /join name
It works on account names and character names. For example, my account name is Khairos.3890 and I’m online with my character name Heliapolis.
You can either:
/join Khairos.3890
OR
/join Heliapolis
Both work. The reason why it doesn’t work for you, is probably because the person who posted the ad put their name in wrong, or because others beat you to it.
To combat that, filter ads posted to “most recent” and try to quickly join a group with a recently posted ad.
gw2lfg.com has gained a lot of popularity- on some nights, it can be a race to see who’s the fastest to join the group before it gets full- this is especially true for Ascalonian Catacombs EXP groups.
Don’t pay the absurd price on the TP. Don’t give them your money.
Lady Luck is your only friend now. As the guy above said, do not use your money for Greatswords to throw into the Mystic Forge. The Mystic Forge is cruel and does not favor the players. Odds are against you, a thousand to one.
I’d recommend just continuing to open chests and hope to get it as a random drop until the Scavenger Hunt.
So please Anet give us some more info.

Nobody’s asking to have the precise answer handed to us. We’re just looking for a little bit more specificity than “it’s from a boss with a chest.” After this long, I think another hint is long overdue.
I’m distinctly reminded of a similar situation in a recent MMO. There was a highly desirable item (a “white whale,” if you will) which was shown to exist in the game, but (based on dev team reports) unknown extraordinary measures were needed to obtain it.
After several months and a thousands-of-posts superthread, it finally came to light that the dev team had never actually implemented a way to obtain the item, contrary to their own “hints” at how to obtain it.
It makes me worry that what we’re seeing with Final Rest is something similar – an entry in a loot table being a factor of 10 off, for example.
Ooooh I hope thats not the case.
Me neither, but it’s looking quite believable at this point.
I’ve thought of this idea as well, and I think it’s an excellent idea for those who want to play in overpopulated zones like back when the game launched. Come on community, let’s make this happen!
Lord of the Rings Online does it with their cash shop, but I don’t think it works the same way as the Gem system, so… I dunno.
I know dragons are about 3 hours apart, and events like the Maw are about 30 minutes.
What about the Shadow Behemoth? Still haven’t been able to participate in the event…
Can we play get another hint from Anet? Please?
It’s been over FOUR months.

1) Do you think dungeon tonics are useless/worthless?
Yes. I don’t think they belong as a dungeon chest reward, as TC has said, it just takes up a slot for a chance at good gear.
2) Why does people buy them on TP?
I don’t think they do; reason being, they are extremely cheap to buy on the TP. This is part of the reason why people dislike them- they can’t even sell them for a decent price.
3) Would you remove them from dungeon loot table/dungeon vendor?
Absolutely, in a heartbeat. Don’t remove them from the game- make them accessible another way, so that people that enjoy them can still access them easily.
4) Would you buy tonic from dungeon vendor?
Use tokens for a tonic? Absolutely not. Ever.
Yay, fast reply! Thanks!
And yeah, that’s what I’d like to go for, methinks.
Alright, so…
A long time ago in a galaxy far far away, I played Necromancer.
The path to 80 was fun, but when I got to 80, I wasn’t sure how I wanted to play. I didn’t enjoy Conditionmancer or Minion Master, so I played a power/deathshroud build.
I loved it. I was using full rare in Knight’s, and was kicking kitten Survivability, and all that good stuff.
Then, I decided to try Conditionmancer, and then got tired of my Necromancer.
Well, now I want to go back to play my beloved Necromancer. I miss him.
I was looking at the AC gear, and noticed the gearsets that have- gasp- Power/Vit/Toughness. I have not seen that combination before.
Generally, how good is that set, and would it be beastly for a power/deathshroud necromancer? I’m trying to achieve balance- to deal out good damage with high survivability.
Join a WvW guild if you want to accomplish anything in WvW.
In a previous WvW guild I was in, one of the Commanders did guild WvW puzzle nights.
They used 2 Mesmers to portal the guild to the key, then the chests for the borderland puzzles, and even chain-ported the guild to the ending of the Eternal Battleground puzzle. And not just for our guild, but for our server to help stock up on seige.
You need to find a good guild like that.
I used to be on NSP. Great community, I highly recommend it for WvW players. I still remember people’s names and guild names. NSP is not just a server, but a tight-knit community. You won’t regret it!
I primarily play a level 80 Guardian that uses GS/Staff.
I was feeling bored one day and made a Warrior, and holy ****.
Axe/Axe felt so good and powerful. And Hundred Blades on GS as well.
I’m slowly regretting playing Guardian this whole time instead of Warrior, just from how good the weapon skills feel. Or am I exaggerating?
Is Axe/Axe and GS on Warrior together underwhelming in higher levels of content?
I’m strongly considering benching my 80 Guardian to level up the Warrior…
Amazing post. I laughed.
I dislike fractals as well.
They were fun the first few times, when I ran them with 4 other guildmates on Teamspeak.
Afterwards, the novelty wore off.
Because of the level restrictions, it’s difficult to continue up the level ladder consistently. Unless you have a dedicated group of 5, you’ll have to play with randoms.
I have never tried fractals with randoms. I think about it, and I’m afraid to do it, because most fractals seem like it would be a nightmare to do with pugs WITHOUT voicechat, and many fractals aren’t just “go in and clear,” but some require more than just “fight mob, move on,” which makes me wary of pugging this for fear of constant wipes and time consumation.
Dungeons like AC, CM, TA, can be pugged for the most part since they are mostly “fight mob, move on.” I just don’t see fractals with pugs as a pleasant, fun experience. I see it as a potential nightmare.
This is why I’ve neglected fractals for a month, but due to the monthly, I might just have to bite the bullet and try pugging, and just pray that everyone knows how to run the fractals.
And if so, which ones?
Just curious to see.
Hey everyone! I just joined the Warband and I am already blown away by how well this is being organized. We just played last night and it was TONS of fun! If you’re thinking about joining, just go ahead and go for it! The people are friendly and the set up is solid!
I’ve decided that my 4th level 80 shall be an Elementalist.
Mat costs have skyrocketed, so crafting to 80 won’t be a cost-efficient option. I’m going to test myself to see how fast I can level this character to 80 via the normal way (Exploring, dynamic events, story quest, etc.).
My question is, is there a particular strong PVE build I should know about to speed this process?
The reason why I ask is because I recall hearing of a Lightning Hammer pve build that made leveling quick and painless.
I wondered if anyone’s followed a build for the journey to 80 that has proven to be very effective for them. Thanks in advance!
Illumination Dye.
Yet another great idea from the community. The majority of the playerbase would love to kill Trahearne.
Do you remember when the game is started and the areas had a lot of player? I want it back!

Underflow? Make this happen.
