If I could find even one guy that wanted these changes, I’d make an effort to understand the reasons.

But I can’t find a single person who thinks this is a positive change. The feedback is overwhelmingly, even uniformly negative. I can’t comprehend why it hasn’t been reverted, given a menu slider, or even A RESPONSE FROM A DEV. The beautiful game I loved is being sabotaged from within. This sucks.

This was explained by someone else but I can’t find the post. I’ll just try to explain what I remember.

Zhaitan’s weakness really was death, but not in a sarcastic way. During a personal story branch there’s an npc that explains that the cannon you use to kill him takes necromantic energy, repolarizes it, then fires it back.

He gorges on artifacts and builds up necromantic magic, so you kill him with poisoned necromantic magic.

I can almost guarantee this wasn’t intended, as it requires enormous foresight, but it works.

Each elder dragon is going to be stronger than the last because killing one releases its magic back into the world.
This has been hinted, (but not clearly shown) to have a major impact on the rest of them until now with the cinematic that glints egg was clearly affected. It also could be a logical lore explanation as to why dragon Champs all got buffed after a while.

So if a dragon dies, the rest get stronger. Whoever goes last is gonna give us a hell of a time.

I’m gonna call this “ret paladin syndrome”.

In this little-known game called WoW, there was a class called paladin. The paladin had lots of snap burst damage and great tools like self heals and defensive cooldowns that many might call “OP”. These things were in fact pretty good, and let them handle much of the solo content and unorganized pvp with ease. The casual players envied the paladin.

The people with deeper insight, however, saw the reality. The paladin had a low skill cap. At best, it put out middle-to-low end sustained damage in pve and lacked more basic (but essential) tools like a simple gap closer or interrupt for much of its life. And so the paladin saw low representation in all end-game modes because it could be outdone by every other class option.

Reaper has alot of the same traits that made paladin seem OP when it really wasn’t. Just ask yourself what you’re basing your judgement from.

I’ve had success with zerker, 3 shout utility build with perma fury and auras everywhere.

Weakness from shouts really helps survivability. Air adept for fury on auras. Healing on auras from tempest gm.

I want to like tempest, I really do. Whenever I cast an overload though, i can’t defend myself for the duration. Plus I’d have been sitting in an element for a long time as it is to even get to that point. You’re so vulnerable for so long it’s just not worth it.

My first recommendation is to completely remove the 4 second prep time to unlock the overload. It’s bad enough of a channel as it is, and it takes a full 8-10 seconds of planning to have the right overload competed at the right time. By then, chances are the battle has changed and a different strat is required.

OR

Add a defensive buff during the channel associated with the element. Magnetic aura for earth, swirling winds for air, an aoe blind effect for fire, and maybe frost aura for water.

The main deal though is that you’re committed to a move for TEN seconds, not 4 or 5 if you’re overloading. It’s way too much when pvp and wvw require quick changes.

I do a tanky/supporty celestial Honor/Valor/Virtues zerg build with Valk/Zerk/Soldiers weapons, Hoelbrak sigils, Mixed Soldiers/Zerk/Cavalier jewelry.

Just edge out whatever stats you aim for and call it a day. Make sure you have enough power at the end of the day though.

Even if it means having merchantchuck.4875 copypaste their detailed expectations into this thread, then I stress that they do so.

Sigh. Alright, I couldn’t agree more, so here goes.

-Virtues got nerfed so you could push an awful alternative set of virtues on us. You essentially infected us with a disease and then sold a cure at the price of one expansion pack. Make virtues 1200 range baseline, remove DH cast times on virtues.

-fix the bugs. There’s compiled lists on the forums already. My biggest gripes are DH’s virtue of courage only applying blocking to OTHER players (in melee) for some reason, the shield bubble not behaving like it should, stalwart defender not applying a bonus to toughness. Too many others to list here.

-traps. Idunno. They don’t blow me away. The general consensus is that they’re not worth spending a skill slot on them, whether it’s due to lack of survivability or group support. Improve those aspects of them and we might have something.

-Fix the ineffective weapons. Including, but not limited to longbow. Both it and scepter have issues landing shots due to projectile speed. I personally think scepter could use a homing function. Shield is a laughable weapon used only by fashion fanatics and RPers, and currently brings nothing to the table.

Edit I’m floored that selfless daring and save yourselves are still halved in spvp. There are way more OP things to worry about. No other class has a nerf like this. Fix this kitten already.

Please take a page from the necro/mesmer dev and heed what the players are saying. Those classes look good, this class is just in shambles.

I’m seriously considering shelving my guardian if this is what it’s going to be like. My necro has been VERY good looking lately. Those forums have people that LISTEN to the feedback. So far all the issues for guardians have gone in one ear and out the other.

Imo VoC should block all damage similar to focus.

It does…for all affected players except for the Guardian. Obvious bug and needs to be addressed.

And if this isn’t a bug… I can’t even believe any one dev would be that evil to us.

Rob Gee posted something in the necro forums regarding their other clunky weapons. He said he couldn’t get to scepter and axe, but he had something planned for them.

My 2 cents. …

-GS 3 should be a gap closing charge. Not a long one, mind, but something. People escape reaper too easily outside of shroud.

-GS 5 needs a fix. It needs to follow what direction you’re looking, aiming it is wonky.

-The shout heal seems to be a very weak heal. Too weak, even considering its LF generation.

-Reaper shroud 2… I have no idea what I want with it. I kinda like that its a skill shot, but I’d like to see what it’s like with a lock on.

-GS auto in general seems TOO slow. Maybe my gap-closing-3 suggestion might make it feel like its lack of speed doesn’t matter with increased uptime.

Otherwise, great job on the spec anet! You really revitalized necro’s melee game!

Don’t forget about cavalier or crusader! Both are just as strong right now (Death Magic or Blood)

I’m a valks fan, atm. You need to disengage after a few fights to recover, but dam you hit hard.

I think it’s past time skill #4 was made its full duration in spvp. ESPECIALLY since the new trait for FOCUS in the same trait line gives you more protection than shield even offers.

I also think its past time skill #5 ACTUALLY LASTED THE FULL 4 SECONDS.
For god’s sake, this bug has been beaten to death by the community. I completely disbelieve the balance department doesn’t know about it. I know they know its there, they just refuse to fix it for idk what stupid reason. It’s a broken skill! It’s been a broken skill since beta!

Every weapon has its problems. People can cry buff all they want. All I want is a weapon that actually works as advertised.

You know what’s messed up? Nerf is relatively minor, but the amount of people who chose NOW to stop using axe kind of makes me think that the real reason that ANYONE used the axe was cause of Fashion Wars 2™.

Really kinda sad that aesthetics was the only reason some people used it and only now do we realize there’s no reason to use it at all.

Been playing necro main since bwe. They have gotten almost a non-stop stream of buffs every other patch. They are borderline op, plus they weren’t bad to begin with. Your problems sound like they’re the kind you’d solve with practice.

No. This is not happening with just asura necro. I just tested it against a charr necro (reminder that I’m still a human guardian) and got the same bug.

I’m less concerned that its an exploit and more that it’s a bug that has yet to be recognized. This is pretty close to gamebreaking in tpvp, especially with the projectile meta that’s happening right now. It’s a pretty big damage spike that’s just ceasing to exist, and its costing fights.

I just spent a few hundred gold and a few months trying to make a mix of zealot main pieces and knightght off pieces work. I found the small amount of healing power to be underwhelming for roaming and the lack of vitality means you get Condi bombed easily. That vit would also help in zerg clashes too. Swap any zealot piece out for zerker and you’re probably better off.

Now instead, what I did is run full celestial with hoelbrak runes(which simultaneously offset the lack of power and help with conditions) . If you’re looking for a good spread of stats, that plus power weapons, mostly zerker trinkets and battle sigils should do great.

Personally a much bigger fan of this stat spread.
I’m not a huge fan of vitality gear, as I feel it doesn’t offer the sustain AND group support of adding a bit more healing power. You shouldn’t need to stack vit anyway, seeing as the high armor copes with burst, and food/runes cope with conditions.

The big pro of zealot’s gear is that it’s power primary. The main problem with zealot’s gear is that there are no zealot’s trinkets (as of yet) and the armor recipes are expensive as hell (we’re talking 40g per piece). But if you have disposable gold, go for it… then season with accessories to flavor.

If what you said is true, then full clerics is the obvious answer. Healway is still viable in WVW and roaming at least (don’t even get the thread started on what’s viable in pve). Guards benefit more from Healing power than vit if you’re looking for sustain.

Shield definitely needs something else. Mace/Shield is okay in a group, but hammer blast finishers edge out on top of team support in my opinion. Adding even one effect to it might make it a lot more viable than it currently is.

-5 must be channeled, but now
A)Reflects projectiles back at the attacker
or
B)Gives a block effect vs melee attacks.
or
C)Popping it prematurely clears a condition or two
or
D)Heals like shelter for the duration

OR

-4 is a knockdown/daze/stun/interrupt

Like…any ONE of these things will not break it, just make it worth taking. Right now I’m basically only using a shield over a focus cause I love how the Flameseeker Prophecies looks.

This is what I’ve been using in Spvp for the past year. I’m a slow study, so it took me that long to make it work, but now it works like a charm. It’s pretty simple to set up, pretty easy to pick up, and absolutely murders the unprepared.

On the upside, every shield gives a free bit of armor (its like a constant 3%-ish damage reduction). If you think about it, you’re covered in plates already and its just one more.

Butt weight, there’s more!

-Shield 4 is the ONLY on-demand protection weapon skill in the game. That’s 33% damage reduction for you and any friends its cone effect hits. Make an effort to keep prot up as much as possible and you’ll notice a huge difference in survivability.
-Shield 5 can be popped for a heal.
-If you DONT pop shield 5, you can actually move RIGHT after casting it. Even though it doesn’t look like it, it’s still there for the full duration. I use it as a light field most of the time to gain retal, and retal is another favorite guardian buff.

I think the concept might work if it forces the zerkers to back off for a moment to survive, whereas the tankier guys get closer to 100% uptime.

I think a decent example of this was Foreman Spur. Zerkers can’t really take him as easily as every other fight for numerous reasons.

Wrong gear from ascended chest

This post is 1 part comment/complaint and 1 part question.

The title explains what I did fairly well; I recieved a zojja’s armor chest from a fractal and I was extremely happy about it. I was so excited that I wasn’t paying enough attention and picked a medium armor piece instead of the cloth armor piece that I intended to.

Seeing as i have no character that would use medium berserker stats and fully knowning the chances of getting such a chest again, I was fairly devastated about my screw-up. I placed a ticket requesting to exchange the medium piece for a light piece and was told that the support team was “unable to make these kind of adjustments to characters”. Needless to say, I am definitely not happy about that, and pretty surprised at the lack of capabilities of the support team. This ends the complaint part.

This begins the question part of the post: What kind of changes are possible from the support team? I mean, it doesn’t seem like the support team has much power at all if they are unable to make simple changes like correcting a gear choice mistake. Does anyone have any experience with a situation like this? Please post if you do!

If I have lingering attunements, internal fire for 10% damage, and air training for another 10% damage increase, will those stack? I can’t find a post that addresses this during a recent build. I heard it used to be bugged but idk how it’s behaving now.

A less expensive alternative would use your current setup, just changing traits around. I’m guessing you’re swimming in power, but not any other offensive stats, and this build is fine to work with your current gear.

I’m starting to disbelieve that you guys are actually planning to fix this soon. Seeing as this should be a pretty quick fix to just add the thing in, what’s the hold up?

PS: I seem to recall something in a previous patch about “weapon skins can now be applied to pvp weapons” if I’m not mistaken. Doesn’t seem to work for HoM skins, so no way to get a FDS that way either.

Yep, Same here. Re-linking accounts does nothing, and I am well past the FDS on HoM progression. Some players have this, and some players don’t, so should I submit a ticket?
