I really like the Braham’s helm skin, but my character looks pretty dumb without his beard. It is a skin tight beard that should not cause clipping, so I would really like to be able to see it. As it is now, I probably won’t make the helm visible. At least not on this character.
The kind of mounts everyone is on about – no, NO and no.. we do not need mounts and the game would be kitten with them..
Can you tell me what would be wrong with mounts being added if they were like the “flying” broom? Mere appearance-only items?
Because having a horse that runs at the same speed as a human would look as stupid and awkward as having a huge norn that runs at the same speed as a human.
I personally would like to see LESS scantily clad females…. and I am a straight male.
To address this specifically, you actually make a good point. While what I want a sexy male equivalent of each sexy female armor set, preferably making them look much more similar, this could also work the other direction. There are many male armor sets that you may think look awesome, but the female equivalent shows far more skin. I think that each set should look the same, show comparable amounts of skin, on both males and females, so that players don’t feel they are left out of an awesome armor set just because of the gender of their character.
Honestly want something like this for males:

Put a more attractive face, reduce the breasts, widen the hips, and it’s perfect. :p
I understand that this game is created by, and geared toward sexist males, but those of us who are attracted to men would appreciate a little eye candy.
So by your statement… all male players are sexist, and you are then a sexist as well for wanting to see scantily-clad males. Talk about broad generalizations.
Believe it or not, one can appreciate seeing some skin, without being a sexist.
I personally would like to see LESS scantily clad females…. and I am a straight male.
Nowhere in my statement do I say that all male players are sexist, and I would like to see equivalent sets of sexy armor for males and females, so neither am I sexist.
Because “sexy armor” is in the eye of the beholder truly, what I think you mean is you want “skimpy armor” on the males. To be fair though the males have a good amount of skimpy armor. I can off the top of my head think of at least a dozen armors spanning all 3 armor tiers that fall into this category.
I haven’t seen personally another male character wearing the set I wear on my guardian, or even any (that were not jokingly also in full pink/babyblue color schemes) male characters in skimpy armors in general. But note that out of the 40+ different non skimpy medium armor skins, every other female is wearing one of the 2 skimpy sets they get and there are countless threads complaining that the people want more… I think it has less to do with sexist male developers and more to do with what the players (and possibly on a bigger scale, society as a whole) want.
Like I said there are at least a dozen skimpy armors for men across all 3 sets, that weer all included in the base game. Even the newest set Braham set features a fully off the shoulder, bicep and pectoral revealing top that just about makes the man naked from the waist up, and even shows some leg skin. But go count how many male characters you see wearing that. Then count the females you see wearing the Phoenix armor or how many are now sporting the new Magitech skirt.
Can you blame the devs? they make/made skimpy male armor but the players time and time again show that they don’t want that. By not wearing them or, ridiculing them. Personally I’m glad Anet is not stepping down though, I love my Conan the barbarian outfits! Keep them coming!
But I also recognize that if there was 1 skimpy outfit for females per armor tier, we would see those all the time on nearly every female character. And if all but one of the male armors were completely skimpy we would still see mostly fully clothed men. The devs cannot make the men wear the skimpy armors.
Sorry, but skimpy =/= sexy. I’m not aware of any skimpy armor available for light armor wearing humans, aside from one chest piece that has already been pointed out as not being very attractive. Show me a male armor set that is both revealing and attractive, and I bet you will see a decent number of players using it. As it is, I know many players that do what they can to show off their characters chest, and would probably love more armor options to do so.
This game was not created to support mounts. It would pretty much break the game. Bad planning on ANet’s part? Very much so. Can it be changed now? No. Not without drastically altering the game.
It would be very nice to be able to toggle autotarget for different situations. No real reason why this shouldn’t be available.
The Heavy Brutus Chestguard is essentially PG Male bondage. On a more serious note, armor always tends to look better on female characters but I don’t think thats something that can be changed
Of course that can be changed. The armor looks better on females because they made an effort to make it look sexy on females, but they practically made winter clothing for the males, aside from a few heavy armor chest pieces.
This might just be me but grouping (in PvE at least) appears to only be for dungeons and if Im honest the only thing I really care about is doing the dungeon efficiently and getting boss loot / tokens. The rest of the loot tends to be pretty petty and unappealing because you know thakittens usually a load of rubbish. Anet should focus on making random drops more interesting rather than who should get what %age of what rubbish.
Nobody gets a percentage of anything. Everyone gets their own loot. I have gotten some pretty good stuff from random drops, and don’t necessarily have a problem with the way that works.
Parties only being for dungeons is a problem that this would help address. Not just for sharing of the loot, but for sharing experience and credit for events.
My greatest concern is that dungeons should look most attractive to players currently at the dungeon’s level. Right now that is when they look least attractive.
I Need this now.
I’d put an emphasis on party loot. I rarely bother with parties in this game, because it is too much work to find people who want to do the same things. Obviously there would have to be distance limits, so people aren’t doing completely different things and sharing loot, but something like this would make looking for a party worthwhile.

Everyone should just shut up about “lore”. Every weapon should be available for every class, just to add more skill variety. The number of skills currently in this game is pathetic. Don’t talk to me about balancing. Nothing is ever balanced.
Luckily, you don’t have to deal much damage to enemies to get the full reward.
It may not be perfect, but it really does seem like the best option to encourage participation in fights. As else, people would just sit back and spam heals without any risk.It currently is just really anti-leech. And I’m ok with that.
Just discovered the quote button
Another reason a change is needed is that there is no reason a thief should have to run around attacking each opponent once with his dagger just to qualify for loot and experience. It isn’t just a problem of support players not being rewarded. Any single target weapons cause a similar dilemma.
Absolutely need this. My bank is slowly filling with repetitive equipment just so I can avoid losing skins.
@eekzie: Partied experience does not present this problem as you could kick anyone who does not participate to expectation. As for an open world setting, outside of parties, there would probably need to be some limitations, but that doesn’t mean that someone who prefers to heal, revive, and otherwise support other players, doesn’t deserve a reward. I once tried to fight Jormag, but still had gear from a much lower level. I hit him several times, but was dying very quickly, and not doing a lot of damage, so I spend the rest of the fight reviving other players and using healing/condition removal skills. Got no chest at the end despite the time I spent attacking. I was busy helping people the whole fight (Jormag is an annoyingly long fight too) and got nothing for it. This system is broken. It isn’t the best of imperfect options. It is merely the only system they have tried since release. It needs an update.
I don’t know about a skin merchant, but some way to permanently save skins you have collected, and to apply them as often as you want to account bound equipment, would be great. As it is now, I have to get a new great sword for every new skin I want, or I will lose my old skin. I really don’t like the idea of having my bank slots filled up with great swords just to save the various skins.
I can’t be the only one who thinks this change needs to be made…
@Spencer: Story mode does not provide a reward comparable to Explore mode.
@Ashabhi: How nice for you that you don’t find it too difficult, and that you are not a new player. That doesn’t mean others don’t have this problem. I also don’t see how it would in any way ruin the challenge. Like I said in my first post, the Hard Mode version would provide a greater reward, so if you are level 80 there would be no reason to play in easy mode. Easy mode would be primarily for low level players who do not want to waste a ton of time just to do a dungeon. The AC dungeon takes around 20-40 minutes for a group of level 80’s. For a group of 35’s this can easily turn into 2+ hours, with a strong possibility of party wipes and players rage quitting, if just one or two players aren’t particularly skilled or familiar with dungeon mechanics. For someone who doesn’t have that kind of time, or doesn’t feel that the reward is worth that kind of time, this means waiting til around level 80 before even bothering with the dungeon. A level 35 dungeon that people don’t want to do until they are a much higher level is a very badly planned dungeon.
The heavy armor that shows chest still isn’t very sexy. Being heavy armor, I wouldn’t really expect it to be more than it is. It’s mostly the medium and light armor that I feel should have sexier options.
When I reached level 35 on my first character, I was very excited to do the Explorable Mode of Ascalonian Catacombs. What I found very quickly was that no one wanted to party with a level 35 character. Everyone wanted characters near or at level 80.
Eventually I found a party. It was full of players around level 35. Playing through the dungeon at this level, especially with new players who were not knowledgeable of dungeon mechanics, resulted in several hours of incredibly aggravating and repetitive gameplay.
As far as I’m concerned, Guild Wars 1 had this perfect. As you did dungeons the first time around, characters of the appropriate level could beat them in a reasonable amount of time, often without party wipes, even if it was the first time through. Once a character reached level 20, and had better equipment and skills, they could go back and play through the dungeon in Hard Mode for more challenging play and a better reward.
It’s frustrating to reach the appropriate level for a dungeon only to find that it’s almost impossible to beat in a reasonable amount of time.
Absolutely support this.
This is probably my biggest problem with this game. In order to get experience or loot you must hit the target at least once, if not more. This provides a huge advantage for classes/roles that focus on area attacks, like Warriors using Great Swords. It is a big disadvantage to a thief using daggers as they focus on a single target, while the rest of the enemies are killed off before you can ping them. However, this system does the greatest disservice to those who wish to play in a dedicated support role. I made a build that focused on defense, healing, and condition removal, and had a lot of fun running around ensuring my teammates didn’t die, and reviving them if they were downed…Until the end of the battle when I realized I got pretty much no loot out of it.
It seems to me there are a couple of fairly simple solutions. One is party experience/loot. If everyone in your party, within a set range, got experience and loot for the kills of the other members of the party, not only would it make support roles more rewarding, but it would also make playing in a party a lot more attractive.
The other solution, and this could be done in conjunction with the first, would be to give experience and loot to a healer/supporter for the enemies that the character they healed or supported is doing damage to at the time.
Right now I feel as if I am forced to play an AoE DPS build in any group setting in order to get the greatest reward, and, frankly, it gets really f***ing boring.
One of the first things I noticed about this game was all the sexy armor for female characters…and the total lack of sexy male armor. I understand that this game is created by, and geared toward sexist males, but those of us who are attracted to men would appreciate a little eye candy.
I support this!
