Now, after years of waiting, we have a chance to fix these problems. And you guys, instead of being happy too about the gamemode we all love so much, start to complain against any improvements. It just blows my mind. It really does. Just because you want something, everyone else has to suffer too. It’s just extremely selfish.
And on top of that all, you do not even propose any other solutions. You just complain that all the change is bad and try to lie about how everyone loved their dead servers. No, everyone hated it! Everyone suffered for a long time and many left in the end. Again, there are obviously small number of players used to empty server matches, but it does not make you more special then many more players who actually want to fight and want to have meaningful matches and want to see enemies more then once a week. What exactly do you wish Anet would do? Nothing? Just keep the system going on for many more years until there is only you and 2 more players left in whole WvW?
If there actually is a rule (like there is for match manipulation) who’d even get punished for it? No one, anet won’t banhammer people that will possibly buy gems. /endthread
Yeah I agree with you that’s a good point. It’s definitely a difficult balance, and this has always been a yuge debate with quite fierce opinons lol. Do we want the facerolling arguably no-skilled hammer trains with venomshare everywhere or do we want to pirateship for 15 minutes widdling down each zerg in a chokepoint? The soultion definitely isn’t just to revert old stab, I see that with the points you made but holy lord what we have now is barely playable.
This thread seems to boil down to reverting wvw to how it was pre-2015 (stability included) with better rewards, pretty much all there is too it really. Which is extremely ironic because of this video.. The hype was reaaaall, they did a good job fooling me last time that’s for sure. Great job.

Edit: You should NOT be able to use these stupidly overpowered Keep buffs whenever the hell you feel like it rather only when you actually need to use them for niche situations. For example when you have the outnumbered buff, or simply as mentioned once an hour so it emphasizes tactful usage. Not a 5 minute cooldown or whatever it is so any willynilly pug can have a blast watching an entire enemy force melt with one button. It is beyond me why they catered so heavily towards defending objectives while completely ignoring any means of taking objectives. /rant
waypoints in keeps should be a t3 upgrade and not give to you for free. I hate defending home now when i cant use fire and air wp.
Yo for real I don’t see at all as to why they changed how waypoints work… For me personally that is the worst thing about the Deserted Borderlands. Players certainly should be able to use every waypointed keep on a borderland not just your servers corner, it’s not EotM, nor EBG… Ugh I hate thinking about it, lol. Atleast then it’d justify being SUCH A BIG KITTEN MAP!

If you weren’t a fan of WvW back then you certainly won’t be a fan of it now. Bad RvR game mechanics aside there is a broken combat system consisting of p2w Guild Banners, insane damage output from the new class and very little to no stability even though the new class specializations were given tons of CC’s. So if you play any frontline class you better reroll to Ele, Dragonhunter, or Rev ideally.
Now if you want to see for yourself how the new Borderlands are you’ll have to transfer to tier 1 to be able to play on them and not completely bore yourself to death. Otherwise you can stay on whatever tier you’re in and play on EBG during NA timezone or Borderlands on reset for a few hours potentially.
Usually every major zerg engagement is decided purely by numbers and whoever has a better Dragon banner or Turtle banner. If you aren’t a fan of zerging then you can try to solo roam in which you’ll probably get chased down by 2-5 people trying to murder you for solo roaming since you’re easy prey, or if you’re lucky you can maybe get good duels along the sides of SMC. If you don’t like to solo roam you can get a group together and spawncamp the kitten out of another server until you get bored or they send a zerg after you. That last part is probably subjective though. that’s just my guess what roaming groups do when they aren’t groupfighting or picking off zerglings.
People just need to look at it honestly. How about instead of arguing against strips and perma stab, we also look at the effect it had on player participation which correlates to fun?
Before stab changes, wvw was packed, tons of fun, wasn’t frustrating.
After stab changes, 75% of the wvw population quit.
I’ve known Ev for a while now and I know his history and can vouche he knows his kitten. So his statements here are objective, before anyone goes and jumps on him for being a noob or whatever. Mind you this is his second time making a huge kitten thread regarding Stability issues. Anyways though I agree. When I first started WvW’ing 2 years ago on ET, whatever very low tier it was – there was still plenty to do, definitely quite the community. Which is interesting how I can’t replicate how amazing WvW seemed to me at that time no matter how many servers I go onto. Good times, ded gaem
Support – hoping anet reads this thread. Turtle needs the nerf in particular imo. It has an uncapped AoE protection and stab. I believe if a Tempest uses it the protection is 40%.
They added tons of more CC’s in the game with HoT as well, such as guardian longbow 5 for example. I don’t know if you’ve had to play against 10 to 15 Longbow Guardian’s in one zerg spamming 5 on every engagement but it’s completely broken it is impossible to move. Seems to me with these quarterly updates they could atleast make improvements on stability maybe 10 stacks instead of 5 for some abilities… Or is stab in PvP and PvE fine so it’s not an issue? Anyone else blue in the face asking Anet for stab changes yet?

These are really awesome ideas and initiative. +1 support <3 As a community we have to get things back on track. The Alpine map had very simple concepts which made it easy for people to just go to anytime and I’d love to see that with these layouts you guys are putting forth. The middle ground WP is a great idea, the thing the new BL’s are sorely lacking is the ability to move from point A to B easily, we’re gamers, we’re lazy LOL.
The camp placement in the northern section make great use of the once notoriously empty NW and NE Corners (Alpine) and I really like the idea, as the new maps do well, not having a desolate and pointlessly open northern section. The idea is to be streamlined and compact?
But both sides in that video are stupid because they use that blobbing style and one hit can damage many targets. I wanna see some real fight where hammer is op. Probably hard to find that kind of video because you can avoid auto and hammer 2 just by using strafe.
I mean take it for what it is, just an example of what revs are doing and the damage they’re bringing. What do you consider a real fight? 1v1’s / 15v15’s / PvE? The original discussion is about EBG and blobs I think. Which are the only fights in wvw you can get these days If you mean 1v1’s then I don’t know if hammer is optimal for roaming, don’t think it is, but again that’s not the conversation.
Yeah, getting plowed by 9k Coalescence of Ruin’s on my Guardian with 3.3k armour. Completely broken, so little effort to cast it and mow over everything. However we all should’ve known the new class was going to be OP, rip even further to frontline play.

Completely left in the dark, really sad. As much as this gamemode has completely rekt my irl life I love it with a passion for some reason. Doesn’t feel the same at all. Server hopping cuz ded servers, ebg only, ded guilds, stability nerf STILL not reverted back /shrug, -condi duration(even further nerfs to frontline play), can’t waypoint to hills and Fire Keep on your own BL – no one wants to walk all that way every single time to check for swords or whatever, new keeps are kitten near impossible to defend maybe I just suck but I tried it for a long time and it was really hard, no rewards at all for defending/PPT, feels like you’re trolling by just defending lol, bags you recieve are kitten worthless 3s per heavy bag. -sigh- can’t roam because new op classes (Didn’t buy expansion rip me)(wall of kitten text(wall of kitten text)) BabyRage

Not once did I say server “merging”, I was talking about wvw being like megaserver. You stay on your home server but get zapped to mega red, mega blue or mega green.

eotm is packed for many reasons, of course the devs are going to model wvw after it in ways.
Also, the loot and karma isn’t great, there are much more “lucrative” activities for that stuff.
You’re missing the point he’s making about server pride(which to be fair is very rare these days) and not playing wvw just for farming and personal gain. WvW megaserver similar to EoTM would absolutely kill wvw for the people that like the gamemode as it is. Source for how you know these changes are coming?
I personally actually really like afk’ing/playing with bank and tp on the new map apposed to the usual cities. As long as your server has an upgraded Garri anything you need is not very far from you at all and it looks beautiful! I know we’re all supposed to be up in arms over the state of WvW as it is but cmon, gotta give them some credit. But that’s really the only positive thing I’ve to say about them… lol
Yep same problem here. Stuck at 25875 files remaining, downloading@200 kbs. Game is playable but extremely laggy as if it’s still downloading something but the file remaining doesn’t change, except in the case OP mentioned with closing and reopening patcher in which file remaining goes down slightly. Saw someone mention elsewhere to a similar problem to change the language on the patcher, not working for me though.
