I think it’s just plain unbalanced that elementalists are punished with a longer cooldown for using ride the lightning without a target, while other classes are allowed to continue to use their attacks as escape/mobility options without targets…
Makes no sense.
You also do realize that SPCA SPLT tM and XOXO are all separate guilds…
You do realize that NoQQ, Bsty and AD are all separate guilds…
Good point, math fail…fatality.
If necromancers can use axes, so should mesmers! Oh… wait. Mesmer’s and necromancers have the same number of possible weapon sets.
False. Mesmers have an additional offhand option which opens up a number of additional sets…
Many other classes melee weapons do a ton of damage AND cleave. What about axes?
Why should a melee necro be at a disadvantage in that regard?
…on an ability called Stab (seems ironic but whatever)…
It’s time for Necro Axe and/or Dagger to gain the ability to hit up to 3 targets.
Previous accomplishments in WvW not counting toward the new ranks kind of sucks too. At least give credit for WvW kills since it’s already a tracked stat or something…
The vast majority of that list is quality of life stuff like balancing or client/server performance…things that should already have been fixed, etc.
New map is SPvP only. The existing WvW maps are too small, and there are only two of them.
I’m sorry that I’m not as excited as some about new skins or titles as others are.
The scoring system leaves something to be desired. The system still favors the server that has the most representation across the most time zones, rendering the contributions of those who play on servers without a “night time” presence meaningless. Many matchups are stagnant and boring. Orbs were removed and never replaced. The outmanned buff is still buggy and doesn’t offer any meaningful benefits. There is no mechanism to help outnumbered servers compete. Etc…
Wow…meaningless titles and passive player versus door buffs…
Underwhelmed.
Lot of new faces on DR last night. What’s the story?
Man, I’m glad that Mesmers are the only class that Thieves can hit that hard…
Er, wait a second…
Rofl, I knew it, you are kitten you lost to us, especially our 1 confusion mesmer who probably ruined your world. I hope to see you tonight.
Group != Guild
Here’s an uneditted 45 second clip from a fight we had at blue bay last night in Tier 1. I believe the culling is working much better and have had no problems since the last patch.
The maximum number of people on a given map is constant across tiers. It is irrelevant that you are in Tier 1. The fact that you feel the need to mention it makes me question everything else you have to say.
You are playing a staff elementalist, casting at ~1,200 range from your targets, using ground targetted AOEs and a few single target abilities on tab-targetted opponents, from the safety and comfort of your friendly zerg. The experience of a melee or mid-range player would likely have differed significantly. Culling isn’t even a concern for you, and this video doesn’t show a darn thing.
Ravens abusing culling at the super bowl …….. NFL brought down super dome for a patch 5 mins later.
NFL promised to give more warning before taking down the Super Bowl in the future.
“Super Bowl coming down to prepare for new patch in 30 seconds…”
I don’t think sPvP/tPvP are affected because the cap on the number of players in a given map is so low that culling is not necessary. I could be wrong though…
They could revert the change again, or try something else. The most recent change wasn’t good the first time and…it’s still not good.
I agree, I think the culling is worse since the most recent change. It seems consistent with what I experienced in the December trial of this change. It negatively impacts my enjoyment of the game.
Both abilities are consistently misbehaving…
RTL and and Magnetic Grasp are consistently overshooting my target, making it difficult (if not impossible) to perform a follow up move that actually hits the target…
Magnetic Grasp is also back to acting like a self root when you use it at anything less than full range…
I always imagined he set up his spidey cam right next to his extremely loud keyboard :-)
I always get a chuckle about the keyboard fixation. Most trash talk is like “we stomped u gud” or “l2p nub, pwned ur group”…unless it’s Oozo, in which case I guess for lack of something else to say, it’s always “OOZO, U R NOOB BECAUSE UR KEYBOARD IS TOO LOUD, SON”.
Grond is to Sauron as Great Lord Flame Ram is to Melkor….meaning Grond ain’t got kitten on GLFR.
Dear Lord, you read the entire Silmarillion?
The flame ram is the lord and mascot of Maguuma, everyone else needs to back off.
There can be only one…
Behold, Grond:
Just so you know, we came #1 last time we faced DB. Only reason we dropped a tier cause of a stupid point system.
I personally can’t wait get back to Tier 4, it was allot more active in terms of PvP in WvW. You didn’t have to go hunting for ages to find a target.
There’s a typo in your screenshot…
Gojira is the proper spelling!
To the guilds, AD/PRO/BSTY attempting to glitch into AH wall. That is pathetic. Already winning and now playing dirty. Hope you get destroyed in T4.
FYI, we saw who was trying to glitch through the wall. I even got some of them trying to do it on FRAPS. I can assure you, it was no member of AD.
AD had, and still has, catapults on the wall near where the exploiters were trying to glitch inside. In fact, I’m standing there outside the wall right now as I type this. When we confronted those responsible, they claimed they were “researching” to see if the glitch was fixed…lame if you ask me, but whatever.
Anyhow, please be a little more careful with your accusations in the future…
On behalf of myself and my guildies who were there, I thank NP and Envy for the 1v1 fights. We’d like to do some more before our server leaves this tier, there’s no people better than you guys to learn how to 1v1. Everyone on my end said they enjoyed the fights and are amazed at your skill. Again, thanks for taking time away from defending, you’ve shown us a lot of class tonight.
The Envy people are the best solo players I’ve run across in this lowest bracket. Part of that is pure skill but part of that is also running really strong professions with very good builds. I think they had three d/d elementalists, a thief, and a mesmer grouped up the other night.
Can’t blame them for that. It’s really the only way to handle the numbers you have to fight on a nightly basis. Those d/d elementalist are great for zergbusting. I watched one of their d/d elementalists consistently kite and down people in 1v4-8 situations.
Their ranger has balls. He must know he is going to be taking focus every single time when running with those professions since he has the least survivability and is also the easiest to stomp in downed state . :P
It’s kind of odd that the three best classes for survivability through escapability also have the best downed states for buying time while fighting in groups. While a class like the necro, which has horrible escability, also has the worst downed state. 0o
Hate to tell ya man… but you’ve only fought our alts, lol. We only have 1 main d/d ele in the guild. And no ranger mains.
We’ve only really played alts the past 2 weeks or so. We’ve been in this exact match up for ages now, gettin old :/ I actually haven’t been on my main in over 2 weeks now.
That’s ok, because we’ve been fighting against your alts with our alts which were also undergeared and leveled exclusively through tradeskills, so we even have less of an idea than normal…
What if, instead of weapon swapping outright…you could “equip” your fire attunement with staff, water with staff, air with scepter/dagger and earth with scepter/dagger…Or some combination like that so that you’re not really swapping weapons but also not locked into short range with say daggers or something.
Basically you’d designate what weapon is equipped on the character sheet based on attunement. That would offer real flexibility.
Completely non-scientific observation, but it seems to me like the issues of invisible enemies has gotten worse in the last few days. Attacking a tower or keep, it seems to be the norm now that players will not appear on the battlements, but projectiles will be visible coming from where the players should be (but aren’t being) rendered by the game client. Similar issues seem to happen more frequently in the open field lately as well.
Now, some people claim that “smart” groups are taking advantage of mesmer/thief group invisibility skills, rotating them to provide near 100% uptime, also utilizing combo fields for stealth/invisibility effects to prevent themselves from being rendered. I can’t say with 100% certainty that I’ve seen this behavior, but it seems like someone (or many people) have figured out that if they use stealth fields, invisibility bubbles, etc…that they won’t show back up on their opponents’ game clients until well after the effect should have ended…and in some instances, they never re-appear at all…
Just for the record. Suspicious stuff happens to our orbs and altars daily. We just don’t come to the forums and make blanket statements in multiple threads repeatedly. If you think your server doesn’t do the same crap, you’re wrong. Note that I am not condoning this behavior, I’m just saying stop acting like this is something specific to DB. I hope solutions for exploits concerning the orbs are rolled out soon.
When one team falls behind, becomes demoralized and stops joining the queue; the matchup becomes less fun. If there were no scoreboard at all, I wonder if this would happen. Also, would there be less bandwagon server transfers?
Here’s my two cents. If there were no scoreboard at all I think many folks would enjoy WvW even more. I have enjoyed this week’s matchup because our three servers seem fairly well matched (at least during the hours I can play). I enjoy the constant back and forth we are having. If there were no score and we were all playing just because it was fun, I’d be all for that.
Uh what? Ele can farm faster than practically anyone else with the right setup.
What is the right setup?
If hammer guardians are going to get some love, you have to assume they’ll get around to elementalist soon because, gosh, guardians are so much more in need of attention…
I find it tedious. It shouldn’t require significantly more time and effort for less return just to kill a single mob in comparison to other classes.
Switching attunements should not auto-attack the closest mob

Yes. I often notice it casting a fire spell at a nearby mob if I have switched to air from fire. Another point is that this behavior also consumes any crit on next ability proc/trait etc. This behavior on attunement swapping is far more detrimental than beneficial.
…and after 10 button presses the elementalist has accomplished what other classes can do in half the time with half the button presses.
Yeah. I forgot about the loss of conjure on mist form. The underwater thing is another pet peeve and just another example of how the already potentially underpowered elements list class gets the shaft in underwater combat.
If we can’t swap to/from permanent weapon sets, at least let elementalists swap to and from conjured weapons as long as they have charges remaining. It really sucks having these cool conjures that lock you out of attunement abilities disappear because you wanted to heal or something.

Accidentally sold one of my daggers once due to no out of combat weapon swap. When you equip a staff after dual wielding, the offhand weapon does not go into your invisible bag slot unlike your main hand weapon. Sucks trying to search your bags for weapon sets.
It works poorly. I could swear that at some point during the beta weekends that existing dots would not harm you through mist form but I could be wrong.

If this trait could have different properties depending on your equipped weapon it might make more sense. It just sucks for staff when you’re swapping just for swiftness.
Is there a reason why elementalists do not have a "reduce falling damage" trait?
in Elementalist
Posted by: Kraigan.6057
If you’ve played enough WvW, you know how invaluable the reduced falling damage traits can be. It really hinders Elementalists’ ability to keep up with groupmates on WvW maps when all of their allies can all take quicker routes to objectives because they don’t have to worry about falling to their death.
