Game Updates: World Boss Synchronization

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I stopped logging on when you announced the boss schedule. I logged on yesterday just to see the patch and then logged off again. I knew as soon as the megaserver and boss timers took effect the community I usually played with (Jade Quarry) would disintegrate. There was just no reason to make changes this drastic.

Luckily all of the new players will know no different, which I suppose is what you’re aiming for.

This gets more depressing by the day. As part of the Jade Quarry server, I’m really feeling out of options at this point. I currently log in at a set time everyday and do whatever I want for a few hours, then line up with my server for a Tequatl kill before I log off.

I party up with the same people everyday and just about every one of them is already talking about playing other games after Tuesday when our community gets shredded. The map is in shambles trying to put together a guild just to keep players informed and ready for the changes and also being forced to move our usual Tequatl raid to a time when I personally can’t do it anymore.

I know I’m not the only one in this game exploring other gaming options to make the best use of the little time I have.

I have come to the realization that Anet only wants to keep new players interested enough to spend cash on the gem store. They want to make the maps seem full and have a completely different leveling system. This doesn’t do anything for the endgame players comfortable with what they do in game nowadays. You have cut the ability to farm different bosses into nothing. What little endgame they had is completely gone. They no longer care about the things the longterm players do.

I really hope you guys (ANet) back off of this implementation of static timers on everything. It completely destroys your business model of a “Living World.” How can you make this change and dare call your story updates living world updates?

There will be no more dynamic playing. The game world will be predictable and boring.

I’m also very concerned with how this will affect Tequatl and Wurm kills. While I agree these should be on a static timer to promote organization, how will there be ANY organization now? With the way the megaserver is being set up you are hurting a lot of existing communities that enjoy killing these bosses together. Also, by reducing their spawns you are destroying players’ ability to even attempt it anymore.

You will lose a lot of long time players over this change, I guarantee it.

I would like more info on how this will affect world bosses and large events (and i mean ones that are organised on TS and pick a dedicated server for us all to goto etc because believe it or not we are not all from same guild/home world/friends list….).. Anet claim it will help because it means more players will be on the map at any time..

Ok here is the problem.. you could place 500 players on the same boss/map, but if none of them bother to learn the tactics or just stand around doing nothing/going afk/twiddling their thumbs/, waiting for other people to do all the work, it wont make a slight bit of difference and the people putting in real effort suffer for it,

Yes this needs to be addressed by the devs. This needs to still be possible or there will be a lot of upset players that do organized raiding.

What I’m mostly concerned about are organized server raids on bosses like Tequatl and Wurm. How difficult will it be to organize kills with this in place?

If the majority of you guys can’t handle a prank in a video game I hate to see what happens to you in real life. Get a sense of humor and freakin’ do something else with your time if you can’t handle this for a day. I find it extremely difficult to sympathize with anyone who’s crying over this. Get a life, get off your computer for a few hours if you don’t like it.
Yea, it was my day off too, I get it. I like to play a lot of this game whenever I get the chance. 1 day out of 365 isn’t going to ruin my life.

Make the Shadow Behemoth the next Tequatl

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Krassix.4017

Queendale champ train? Too much zerging, champ farming, world boss looting?

Easy fix. Make the Shadow Behemoth actually require as much coordination as Tequatl. Draw everyone in the Queensdale map away from the champ farms.

Yes i realize it’s a starter area but the Behemoth is already towards the end of the zone. If you make it a once every 2 hour spawn there will be plenty of casuals around anyway most of the time to help out newcomers.

Blending Classes on one toon

Krassix.4017

The closest they could come to this is adding a subclass system, basically branching each profession into separate paths. If they did this it would be more likely something you choose after hitting level 80 to prevent having to redesign the leveling process already programmed into the game.

For example, when the warrior hits level 80 you are given the option of 3 subclasses, and choosing one opens up their own unique set of utility skills and/or weapon skills.

Did the US daylight savings effectively change the daily reset to 5pm instead of 4pm?
Also, did it push Wurm and Tequatl to new hours?

Or, did everything shift forward in game to follow the new time change?

I agree this is awesome. IMO this should be a zergfest. We had our updates that strayed from this mentality. Wurm and Marionette focused on group coordination. EOTM was lore and a new WvW. This needs to feel like a warzone. This is what happens in a warzone. Massive battles. I think they did a great job at creating the chaos that needed to be shown.

please separate loot from dps (damage)

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Krassix.4017

Krassix.4017

There’s no need to change the way loot is dropped. If you want to focus on support you can do that. If while throwing boons and rezzing players you can’t manage to get a few hits on an enemy in then you’re doing something wrong.
The game doesn’t make you be a dps master, all you need is a few tags on a mob to get loot.

Why are Engineers medium armor?

Good points.

Maybe we just need some more armor sets that would suit the engineer a bit better. Coats just make me think of ranger and thief. Lets get something like sleeveless vests or something. Maybe more how an army uniform would look, only flashier and in line with the GW art style.

To get it maybe something like meeting these requirements.

-Reach level 80
-Unlock all utility and weapon skills
-Get 10,000 kills while using the engineer.
-Complete your personal story

This could be used across other professions as well. Pretty cool idea for more titles.

Good to hear some positive comments for once. This forums seems overburdened with negative anymore. I feel like there’s still tons of players enjoying the game as much as you (and I’m one of them). The difference is they spend their time in game enjoying it so not many come on here to post the good things.

As goes with many sites. The negative seems to show up more because when someone has a complaint they turn to the internet.

This sounds more like you didn’t enjoy the game from the start and forced yourself to play anyway.

Personally I’m keeping faith in the devs for 2014. What comes of this game after the Scarlett saga with their “feature” update(s) and new LS content will decide the longterm fate of this game for many people I think. A lot of this season’s LS has been in development for months and I’m gonna just keep playing through it as I still have lots of fun with GW2 but would also like to see a lot more content added. I hope it all comes to fruition this year.

Welp, already bored of this patch.

Global Nerf is What GW2 Needs

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Krassix.4017

I disagree and think that traiting for defense needs to be buffed a bit. There’s just too much of the one or two shot kills in this game. All of that work getting better armor, etc and it feels pointless. Make it more useful to trait for something other than damage and health regen.. I’m speaking mostly of pve.

I think GW2 should have skill/gear swaps

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Krassix.4017

Krassix.4017

You can already change skills on the fly.

As far as armor swap I could see what you mean. Maybe having a secondary armor set pre equipped and being able to swap sets with the hit of a button. If you mean during battle, well I don’t see that happening.

Randomize world event timers

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Krassix.4017

Krassix.4017

If the argument that we (the players) aren’t meant to see every meta event on a timed window whenever we see fit, then there’s only one solution if it becomes more randomized = increased rewards.

I don’t see it happening. If you randomize even more but keep the same chance of crap drops after such hard work then what’s the point in chasing down a meta event?

And by hard work I mean the hard work it would be to even come across the world boss in the first place if this scenario took place.

Randomize world event timers

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Krassix.4017

Krassix.4017

You think the servers are dead now? If this actually was put in place all you would have is players camping at meta spawns all day waiting.

By having it the way it currently is it allows players who have limited time to log on be able to see what few world bosses they have a shot at taking down in their “hour” they had time for that day.

Bottom line, play how you want. Don’t expect a big part of the game to change just to cater to personal preference. The world timers are a 3rd party program. Just simply ignore them if you don’t want it.

The Queensdale train is on its way to an imminent nerf by anet. I do enjoy the train from time to time but the community has made it a nuisance by being immature and selfish by believing they are all that matters and if a group or “private partiers” come across and kill the Oak (i.e.) solely by adventuring, they are wrong and they are a** holes. When it gets nerfed remember, it was the community, not Anet that caused it.
